Came at 10am on a Saturday. 25 minute wait for a table but bar seating was available. Coffee and Mammosa was great. Ordered the Frittata and Eggs Benedict with ham (2 people). Food was amazing. Frittata could easily be shared by 2. Hash browns were frozen pattie type but had good flavor. Sourdough bread a little hard to eat being tough. Overall highly recommend. Never got to actually try the place. Went up and put our name down, told it was going to be about a 45 minute wait. An hour passes and my husband goes to ask about how much longer. He was told there were still another 5 parties ahead of us to be sat. Disappointed in a new restaurant that could easily have an electronic system for seating, but instead it was unorganized and written on notebook paper. About 20 minutes after leaving my husband got a text saying he was added to the waitlist. Said we were 16th in line. I guess the place does have an electronic system but they don't have properly trained staff using it. read more

Simply put, the food and the atmosphere was second to none. Eureka, a place on the island with seafood (and other food) that isn't just good, it's great. I say that having grown up catching and eating fresh-caught seafood my whole life... so I'm a "snob" in that sense. I ordered the shrimp poboy and was not disappointed. Fresh caught gulf shrimp that was hand-battered. Not the Cisco processed, "institutionalized" shrimp you see so much of these days. Nope, these guys do it right. Do you have kids? Well I was pleasantly surprised not just by the kids play area, but that the kids meals were actually affordable and not an afterthought. My wife is a vegetarian and there are plenty of great options for those that choose not to eat meat... and again, those options aren't just an afterthought. This menu was one where it ALL sounded good, and I can't wait to go back and try more options. Now... the atmosphere you say? Well I loved it... cool and coastal and "local". I personally loved the TVs that had surfing and local fishing on as a backdrop. There were some tuned to sports if you want to grab a drink and catch a game. Speaking of drinks... lots of amazing sounding brunch drinks (including a Bloody Mary "flight" that includes a "green" Bloody Mary). We weren't drinking that day but I was intrigued by the bar menu and beer selection to say the least. Our server was friendly, attentive, and make good recommendations. The service was a little slow, but I can overlook that due to the quality of the food since after all, actual good food takes time. They're not open for dinner just yet, as they're still training their staff to their liking (so I hear), so perhaps that's another clue as to the slower service. One last thought I'll leave you with... I come down to the island rather frequently from Dallas to visit my dad, and there's not another restaurant that I'm looking forward to visiting more so than Ridley's. Came on a Sunday and wait time was insane... waited over an hour for 2 people. Their toast system went down and chaos ensued. However after reading previous reviews, that seems to be the norm. The restaurant is very small, they really can't accommodate the crowds of vacationers. Once seated our server made up for everything. Food was very good, best pancakes around. Ummm, excuse me? What? My wife and I went here this past Sunday. We knew there was going to be a wait because of the church rush, which was fine. Checked in at 1pm. Was told "20-30 mins". Still fine. Waited 40 and was told "you're next. Just cleaning the table." Great. Guy rolls up to the hostess stand and says "we've been waiting 15 mins already. How much longer?" Hostess (same one that said "you're next" to me) says "oh, we have a table for you now" and gave him our table! After she took him to our table and returned, I asked "so where are we on the list now because we've been waiting 45 mins and he was only waiting 15?" Hostess says, "oh, I can seat you at the outside bar now if you want." What? We could have gone to the outside bar when we first arrived 45 mins ago! We said "No thanks. We had breakfast recently for the first time. They had some kitchen problems where they were unable to serve the whole menu and the hostess told us as we came in but we said ok. We started with a biscuit with gravy which was very good. My wife had the vegetable frittata and I had the Islander breakfast. Everything was fresh and came out pretty fast. NOT LARGE PARTY FRIENDLY my party and I were 6 people. We were quoted 35-45 minutes. They toast system they use counted down the time and eventually just said "wait time 0 minutes". After it sitting that way for 10 minutes we walked up to ask were we were at in the wait list. They said it was going to be another 30 minutes. I voice my aggravation as I felt we were mislead and now our time is almost doubled. If we had been told that previously we would have gone somewhere else. She stated that there was shift change and the host (who was still there and actively working) worked independently and kind of just did her own thing didn't account for the rush they had. She then offered to accommodate us with a chair at another table and said she would check and see if they could. She left, then came back, walked to the host stand, checked another person in and began talking. One of the members of my party asked her what they said and she stated "oh yea, there's a risk of someone leaning and falling back so we can't do it", so I guess she was just never going to tell us??? Anyways - we waited another 35 minutes - so we checked in at 8:50, got sat at 10:18. I got the brisket hash and the meat was bad and the hashbrowns are like a potato bake, but other than that food was okay and really expensive. We told our story to the waitress and she said "yea it's really bad and it's going to get worse tomorrow". If you have a party of 4+ literally do not come here lol, 4 "big tables" to accommodate 6 people. Honestly I couldn't finish my meal also the coffee was the best I've had in a while. It was so good that we went back a second time before we headed back home. I rarely leave negative reviews, but unfortunately, my recent visit to Ridleys was deeply disappointing due to the service experience. From the moment we were seated, things started to go downhill. It took an hour and a half for our food to arrive, with very little communication or updates during that time. Our waitress was inattentive, checking in only once or twice throughout the entire wait. when the food finally came out it was not hot (like it had been sitting out) and another one of the plates was completely burnt. When we finally spoke with the manager to voice our concerns, we expected at least some form of acknowledgment or effort to make things right. Instead, the manager listened briefly, said nothing, and simply walked away from our table without addressing the issue at all. That level of disregard for customer feedback was truly unacceptable. We understand that restaurants can get busy, but a lack of basic courtesy and communication is inexcusable. Sadly, this experience has made it unlikely we will return or recommend this place to others. read more
