These guys know what they are doing and surprisingly enjoy doing it. I tried three other services I found on Yelp and left messages. These guys were the only ones who actually answered the phone, and made an appointment right away. They were always professional and courteous on the phone. When I describe my problem that I was hearing scratching sounds in my ceiling, right away they knew what it was--a raccoon. Sure enough later that weekend I even saw it on my roof. They explained what they were going to do and began working on making a customized trap door. After a quick inspection they were able to figure out where the primary exits and entrances were for the raccoon. They sealed up numerous holes in my attic. And just like that, the animal behaved exactly how they had explained it would. These guys know what they are doing. They know animal behavior and they enjoy doing the work they do. The best part was their fee. I was surprised that other services charged more than double what they had quoted me. They did a nice job, a neat job, and a thorough job. **PER CHRIS (OWNER) - COMPANY IS NO LONGER IN BUSINESS** In the beginning I was enthusiastic about finding someone who cared about the well being of animals as Chris certainly seemed concerned with the well being of our pigeons which were nesting and pooping on our window sills... He seemed like he was going to be a good choice after saying how busy he was and how happy he was he could cherry pick his customers (his statement makes more sense after he completed work, busy finishing unfinished jobs and cherry picking clients that would pay upfront) After the amount of time (approximately 2+ months) and countless follow up emails and phone calls, most of which went unanswered, it was obvious that Chris (owner and sole employee apparently) was incredibly unreliable and unprofessional to work with. We originally decided that electric bird tracking was the best option per Chris's suggestion. He sent me photos (which I later learned were stock photos, not his own work) of some very nice tracking and proceeded to take a couple of weeks going back and forth installing the tracks, which never worked. The birds would continue to sit on them. He blamed it on the solar box not being strong enough and said we would have to buy another (even though I read the box and it stated it could carry current over 3-5 miles, while our track spanned 2 4ft window sills) This was also not the track that he sent pictures of, nor was it installed in a clean manner. So seeing that he appeared to be unfamiliar with the systems, I decided to research and test the system myself - result his battery never even worked, so I can only assume that he lied each time he said he tested it as working when he left. After the 2 weeks of electrical non-sense, i told him to take his tracking off, replace with tension wire and offer a refund for the difference. When he finally responded, he said he would do the work but only offer us a $50 refund (after spending over $800 to have electric tracking on 8 ft of window sills (which didn't work) and one ledge of tension wire) So he removed his shoddy tracking and installed the tension wires, but the tension wires were far enough apart that the birds just sat between them. So I again called him out (numerous times) and he finally ran extra tension wires to finish the job. After several more weeks of trying to find out if he was going to live up to his insulting refund, he never responded so I assumed our business has concluded... The guy might be good at catching vermin but I would seriously reconsider ever hiring him if you are expecting timely reliable work... I hated working with him and will be sure he is never hired to work any of our properties throughout los angeles... **UPDATE** Moments after posting this I did receive an email from Chris stating he had mailed a refund check for $75 more than agreed upon due to issues (added an extra star for finally getting out the refund, but hope it was coincidence and not due to my review) **2nd UPDATE** I had originally given two stars for this, mainly because the owner had stated he mailed out an increased refund due to all of the trouble... Only problem... I never received it and when I reached out to follow up on this, I got no response (which is typical for the owner)... I never called him an ass face. I called him a #FACEASS. Why would you have a Headshot for an animal control profile pic? Please bring back my Guinness glass when you return to finish your job. This man Chris will take your money right away but that's it. He won't finish or follow through with his"guarantee" and will ignore your calls once he has been paid. He left all kinds of chicken wire scraps and garbage (30 mins of clean up for me) around the yard with sharp edges even after I asked him not to, since we have small kids. He did not pick up one piece of scrap. He escaped with his money never to be heard from again. Look elsewhere for your solution, I promise you will be glad you did. It seems as if the only way to get this guy to respond is write a bad review on yelp. He replies with this excuse and that excuse as if customers want to spend time writing poor reviews on Yelp. That's what all these 1 star reviewers want to do is spend hours chasing down some low rent con. They gave you money to do the job which you don't have the patience or the skill to do. You think they would write a long review if good work was done? Think about it before you give this company a penny. Never Returned to Job It has been a few years since I used this company but thought I should warn other consumers. We had a bat problem in our roof. 1st appointment was a no show. 2nd appointment Chris came out and put the bat trap on the roof and put blocking material on the rest of the roof. The trap is suppose to be removed after a week or so. After a week or so I called and he made an appt. and never showed. I kept calling and still no show. He had already cashed the check I gave him. I highly recommend Right Way for wild animal issues. They're quite thorough in their work, which they guarantee, and they have great customer service. I also appreciate their humane treatment of animals. I had an issue with a possum under my house in the crawlspace. Chris and Kyle built a type of door that would allow the possum to leave at night but not get back into the crawlspace. Last night my possum left and now my house is smell-free. Yay!!! They also sealed all of the entrances to my crawlspace so that I won't have to worry about any other critters visiting my house. Possum odor is so strong and awful... Avoid this guy at all costs. Cancelled my appointment twice and then showed up on the wrong day to investigate a rotten smell coming from under my house. Had a younger helper that he had brought along and I could hear the two of them arguing constantly. The two of them left, came back an hour and a half later. He sloppily screwed a piece of metal mesh to the side of my house laying some claim to it being a "one way door" and that he wanted to make sure any other animals were out before he sealed it up. He took my money, left the rotting animal under my house and a few unanswered calls later I decided to go with someone else. I have nothing but positive things to say about our experience with Right Way Animal Control. We reached out because of a problem with birds on our building's roof line and their excrement fouling up windows, walkways, and seating areas. Chris and his team spent time to explain his plan to mitigate the problem and his experience and expertise was immediately obvious. Not only did I have the most confidence in his plan, their quote was also much lower than the other companies we got estimates from. I was also pleased by Right Way's humane approach. While other companies were proposing electrical wires to shock birds that land on them, Chris suggested a much less cruel, more effective, and LESS EXPENSIVE method of loosely strung wires with coiled ends that have too much give in them for large (pest) birds to land on due to the lack of stability. He told me he will call back as soon as he gets home. This guy never call back until I called again the next day. I told him that I will pay half and when the job is done, I will pay the rest since it was so hard to get a hold of him. I contacted Right Way Animal Control in December. Chris came out promptly and set a trap and also collected payment. He said he'd be back in January to collect the trap and replace the grill on the access point. I began calling in late January. They were very difficult to reach. It takes days for them to return you call and if you miss their return call expect the process to start over. I left 8 messages. I have my phone records to prove it. I was finally able to schedule a time for Chris to come out in March. Yes. It took that long. It was for Monday morning at 9 A.M.. He didn't show. I called Tuesday and left a message. He came at 8:30 Wednesday night unexpectedly. We don't answer the door after dark especially to a strange man and especially without an appointment. When I called again he explained that he came at the end of his workday when he had the time and blamed his new employee for the scheduling mistake. We rescheduled for the following Monday again at 9 A.M.. He assured me that since he was the owner there would be no mistakes this time around. As you might guess, he never showed. He never called. I left a message two days later for him not to come back. I finished the job myself. My regrets include giving him a check before the job was finished and not properly researching his company. He has quite a few bad reviews online if you dig past YELP. All I can say is buyer beware. Do your research. I called Katie and she tells me his phone may not be off, he may be on his way, and she will call me back after she gets in a contact with him. 30min later still no call backs, I called again and she tells me that he is at another job and will be in at 10:30am. I asked her why is he at another job when he was suppose to be here at 8:30? she says she doesn't know, and I told her he needs to be here now or send someone else. We live in Brentwood/LA and had rats in our attics for years...the big companies charge a lot but NEVER solved the problem...Chris came the same day and installed one way exit doors so the animals go out but don't come back. This business has very poor ethics. Before you consider hiring them, you should hear our experience, because they do seem like very nice and responsible people when you first meet them. That's what we thought, but after the initial call it all went downhill. We had "something" in our attic, and live in the West San Fernando Valley. When we called, Katie told us that we were in Right Way's service area even though they would be coming from the west side. Chris came out and did an initial look-see, nailed up some screens around suspect openings to the attic from outside and put one cage-type trap up there. He said he'd be back to check on it in a few days. Oh, and that will be $450, but it comes with a 3 year warranty. Chris did return to check the trap. There was nothing in it, so he moved it to a different part of the attic. And then he left. Something was still in the attic. We could hear it moving around day and night. And then, after being trapped in the attic during 100-plus degree weather, the animal tried to eat its way through our ceiling. We have a small hole there now. It gave up and instead ate its way into an air conditioning duct. We called and talked to Katie and were told Chris would come out. We stayed home all day. He didn't show. We were told his truck broke down, and another appointment was scheduled for the next day. Again we stayed home. Again he didn't show up. More truck problems, we were told. Meanwhile, the animal in the attic was still moving around, and crying out, and chewing. Then, a couple days later, Chris replied to an email from us and said that he would come out, but only once and that would be it, whether the problem was rectified or not. So much for the three-year warranty. But he did give us a second option; he said he'd give us a partial refund of $100 from the $450 we paid them if we chose to not have him come out and seek help elsewhere. We chose the latter option and told him to send the check. We then found other means to take care of the situation in the attic. There was one dead critter up there and a second one was caught and removed. That much solved, but no check from Chris. That was a couple months ago. We have written and called the office numerous times. Katie either says Chris has promised he put the check in the mail, or she will make sure it gets in the mail, apologizing over and over. But no check has ever arrived. Now no one answers the phone and even though I leave a message I get no call backs. The business left us with a couple desperate, trapped animals in our attic. They offered us a partial refund and have not followed through with it. They are now unresponsive. And we have a hole in our ceiling. This all adds up to very poor business ethics. read more

It's Saturday night around 7 p.m. and our tenant calls to tell us she's been up since 2 a.m. because some skunks have made a home under her apartment and have sprayed. I call the City of Long Beach to see if something like this is covered by Animal Control (it's not), so then somehow I'm patched through to the LB Fire Department and they give me the names and numbers of two companies to call (neither of which return my call) so after some more google searching, I find Chris at Right Way Animal Control. He actually answers the phone on Saturday night, explains in clear terms what he plans to do to solve the problem, provides a quote and says he'll be out there first thing in the morning. Alleluiah! By the way, it's now Monday, the problem has already been solved, and I still haven't gotten a return call from any of the other companies that I called. Thank goodness for Chris! Don't bother calling this company. They are quick to take your money and will stop taking your calls. Chris doesn't show up on time for appointments (with lame excuses at how his car broke down), his work is absolutely atrocious (he actually destroyed the area he was working on where I had to hire another contractor do repaint/redo everything), and is extremely pushy with immediate payment, even though he did not finish the job. A few years ago when Chris was working with Kyle, I think the business was much better, probably because Kyle is really the one who knows how to do the work. I was in need of services for opossum removal, but waited nearly three days before I received a response from an individual named Chris. I was told that the situation was not detrimental to my health according to my message, and that my phone call was returned when it was convenient. After discussing my concerns with the individual, I was quoted a fee that would involve trapping of the animal, and then additional monies if I required later removal of the animal. There is a clear lack of concern for the customer's needs by this company, and/or individual I spoke with. The rates are out of control, there is a blatant disregard for the urgency of the situation, and the people skills are lacking, but the professionalism and demeanor of the contact at the company, even worse. But after my follow-up experience with him, I will merely emphasize that NO ONE SHOULD EVER WORK with his company! I contracted Right Way Animal Control for the removal of a raccoon in March 2013. After forgetting about my property and not resetting the traps as he promised, I spent so much time trying to get someone on the phone.. I was ignored for months regarding a refund (see previous post). After contacting the BBB, Yelp, etc., Chris responded by offering a $300 refund. Upon receiving this check in late November 2013, attempted to cash it 6 times - yes, I went to the bank 6 times (!) in an effort to redeem the monies that were owed to me and there were no funds available. On the last visit, when funds were available, I was informed that Chris had the audacity to put a stop on the check! His disrespect for my time and the frustration he has caused is limitless. I called Right Way after noticing and hearing birds in my attic. He came out the next day to do the inspection. He checked my attic and found four bird nests. He even took a picture of the biggest one. Luckily, there weren't any birds living in them. Unluckily, he gave me the bad news that not only were there birds living in my attic, but rats too. He showed me the trails, tunnels, and droppings. He explained a couple options. He could install a door where they get out, but not back in, or he could in the most humane way get rid of them altogether. I chose the latter. He spent all day cleaning up the nests, and sealing any and all entrances animals could possibly get into. He set traps for the rats and told me he would be back in a few days to check them. Chris was super duper nice and explained everything. He even mowed my lawn and I am not kidding. I asked him if he could show me the high setting on my lawnmower and he ended up just mowing my lawn. I couldn't believe someone could be so nice, that just doesn't happen much anymore. You hear stories of people buying people's coffee at Starbucks, but not this. Kyle showed up even earlier than promised and was great. The possum was actually not where it was last seen but Kyle was able to secure the location to prevent future problems. We live in Coto de Caza in Orange County, and needed nets put under the eaves of our house to prevent swallows from nesting and making a mess every year. I called a more local company and was given a ridiculously high quote, so I did a google search and found Right Way. Katie, who did the estimate by google mapping our house (!) was super nice and the cost was less than a third of the first quote. We scheduled an appointment and it took a bit longer than expected because of a couple of delays, but that was fine since swallows season is still several months away. Chris, the owner, did all the work himself, was very sweet, and did a great job. We have had a musty smell in one of the bathrooms for months and in the last couple of weeks it got really bad. I thought it was plumbing but the plumber couldn't find anything. So I call Right Way and they came out same day I called! They suited up,went under the house and found a dead possum - the source of the smell. They were quick, friendly and told me that when they have to catch live wild animals, they do not trap because they do not want to put them down. I like this because I'm a fan of wild animals! Right Way Animal Control responded quickly to a phone message I left and came over the same day to assess the situation of a raccoon inhabiting my attic. They were extremely thorough: first confirming that there was only one hole that was being used to access the attic, then affixing a one way door so that animal wouldn't be able to return once he went out to look for food. They also located the spot on my roof that the animal was using as a latrine and cleaned up the droppings. Right Way Animal Control was deceitful, provided the wrong information, and did not do the complete the job. There was no need for them to treat the attic since there were no raccoons in the attic. Not one thing that Right Way Animal Control did corrected the problem. I was having a serious problem with raccoons destroying my garden and yard. I went on the internet to contact the local animal control for assistance and after several link transfers I made contact by phone on 5/23 with what I thought was California Wild Animal Control and talk to a woman who said she couldn't be out until the following Tuesday. This woman called back approximately an hour later and said that they had a cancellation and they could be out that same day. I explained to her that I had a doctor's appointment and would not be able to be there in the afternoon and she assured me that they could take care of this before I had to leave. A gentleman (Christopher Steffey) showed up at the front door and said he was therefore the raccoons I assumed he was with the state and it wasn't until after he had reviewed the situation he explained that he was a private company. He explained that he gets a lot or clients that confusion him with be with the State Animal Control. However he said he would be happy to doing free inspection to assess the problem. He went on top of the roof and did a visual inspection and then stated he needed to go in the attic. I let him in the Attic and he came out and said that I had a family of raccoons - a female mother and her pups in my attic. He then explained it would be $350 to treat the attic with Pheromones which would result in the mother taking the babies out of the attic. Then in two days he would come back and Seal the holes so they would not be able to reenter the attic. He then said he would charge $150 to clean up the feces they left on my patio cover. I explained that my main concern was the raccoons digging up my garden and using my patio cover for a bathroom. He said he would put up wire lines so that the raccoons would not get on the patio cover or in the garden. I had explained to him that I have never heard any sounds coming from the attic that I had only seen them in the yard and on the top off the patio cover. In addition I told him that was way too much money and then I would take care of it myself. He explained that it was extremely dangerous dealing with these animals and that they were diseased and that they could do a tremendous amount of damage to the attic and that I needed to take care of it right away. He also explained that he would guaranty his work for 3 years and that this would take care of the raccoons. I was running out of time and needed to get to the doctors. I felt pressured into having him complete the work so I would not have serious damage in the attic. He went back in the attic for less than 2 minutes and said he had treated the attic with Pheromones and I could leave and he would complete the work on the outside. He guaranteed that the Pheromones and wire would work and I would not have a problem with the raccoons. He also stated he would be back in 2 days to repair the holes. The next day the raccoons were back digging up the garden and making a mess on the patio cover. I made several attempts to contact Right Way Animal Control with no success. (I have phone records proving the number of times I've tried contacting them). I did not hear back from Right Way Animal Control until after I had disputed the charge on my credit card. I spoke to a woman in the office and she explained that they had had this problem before and not receiving phone calls and that she was very sorry for not being able to get back to that to me. Explain to her that when I could not get in touch with her and I contacted Orkin Pest Control to come out and inspect the attic and I had to rent a trap from Teresa's Pet store. I did trap the raccoons by the garden and had them dispose of them. In addition I explained to her that when the attic was inspected by Orkin Pest Control that there was no evidence whatsoever of raccoons ever being in the attic and that the attic was extremely clean other than some dust on the air ducts and there were no evidence or footprints of animals of any kind being in the attic. Her response was that she was glad I got it taken care of and that she was sorry that they were not able to take care of the job.
