Upon arrival they hadn't started my order yet I suppose cause I waited an additional 30 minutes in the store. When I did get my food my pulled pork was not pulled, it was just pork... and small portions at that.. My side of fries for both orders were old, cold, and, stale. My peach cobbler, The one thing I thought would save my meal. But I was more disappointed with that than anything. It was still frozen. No ice cream with it. All you can eat beef ribs....with a large side. Sounds good right? And to be honest it used to be. I have been a regular patron of Riscky's for about five years now. It had been my "go-to" place for good ribs, but I have noticed over the past six months or so the quality and size of the ribs has dwindled. On my last visit two ribs were All Fat NO Meat and on one the "bark" was so dry I couldn't even chew it. It was a disappointment. This review isn't meant to discourage folks from stopping by and experiencing a good-ole Fort Worth tradition, it's simply to say The Experience Isn't what it once was at this location. I have had other meats and sides and dessert at this location and they still continue to be good (the fried Fish is wonderful) all I am saying is their "speciality" isn't so special any more. Our visit was the Camp Bowie location but the comments might apply to all locations. Pros: fast service, no wait at 1:15 on a Friday afternoon in June, and one of the best burgers in town. It was char broiled! All you can eat beef ribs were cooked well and very good. Cons: two of the burger orders did not come with the correct sides (the waitress fixed that) and the potato salad was not liked by the three people who tried it. The potato salad was essentially cold mashed potatoes with seasonings. That's just lazy. Robert Irvine would call you on that. The orders that came with the inedible potato salad meant we paid $11 for just a burger and a raw whole jalapeño. No Bueno. Lastly, and this has been a disappointment for the 16 years I've been going to Riscky's, the Texas toast is only Barely toasted on one side of the bread and there is almost no butter/margarine at all and no detectable garlic (but maybe it us not supposed to have garlic). I've been coming to this location for years but, my last 3 visits have not been satisfactory. I usually get my food to go. One time I got home and NONE of the sides were in our bag. The next time I picked up food, I asked the bartender to please check the bag to make sure all items were included. They did. However, when I got home and bit into my hamburger, it was completely raw. Really raw. Inedible raw. I threw the burger away and ate fries for dinner. On my visit this evening to pick up food, I asked the bartender to specify that I'd like my burger cooked well done and told her about my raw burger experience. Ugh. About 1/4 of my burger was pink! How hard is it to cook a hamburger patty? Or to cut it open to check if it's cooked. This is not a steak we are talking about but ground meat that needs to be cooked thoroughly. I went here just for the AYCE beef ribs. What a TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT! The ribs they are so proud of happen to be DAYS OLD and rebranded to look new. If those were HUMONGOUS, they need to go to the eye doctor. They were CRAPPY little ribs full of FAT! Give this one a wide berth and find somewhere that cares about their food product and not just pushing the DAYS OLD slop on you! Oh what a difference a chain makes... I reviewed the Azle street location quite favorably, having been there several times and enjoying the food there and the bargain prices available for it. Sadly, the Camp Bowie location is inferior in just about every way except perhaps for having table service and more shabby chic decor. We arrived right at opening time on Saturday - surely they would have freshly made food when they first opened? Nope. I ordered the $9.99 all you can eat beef ribs only because it was the only way to get beef ribs except with the $14.95 two meat plate. (Normally at the Azle st. location I get the beef ribs & fries for $7.99 IIRC and it is more than I can eat with 3 ribs). All the ribs were incredibly dry and very low on actual meat content. I ate *six* ribs and was not even stuffed. Plus the meat was not just dry but really had the consistency of ribs that were cooked a day or two before but heated. Not good at all. I wonder if they even cooked them onsite or if they were trucked here from one of the other locations... I didn't smell pits if you get my drift. I also had the potato salad with it, it was very heavy on the mustard. Some people like that, I don't. Mustard is for sandwiches, mayo is for potato salad. I didn't finish my serving. They do not filter the water here if you order water (which I normally do since I try to cut down on my caffeine and don't like sprite). I could taste Lake Arlington in it. I had to order a coke instead to help wash down the dry ribs. Honey got the two meat plate with beef ribs and something else (forgot what) and he said his was pretty bad too. The kids didn't seem to mind their food, but they don't exactly have refined palates. Fifty bucks later... sorry, not coming back here. We'll head to Azle if we want our beef ribs. read more

Decent BBQ, terrible food sides, shoddy service. I enjoy their sliced brisket but it was a bit dry. My boyfriend enjoyed the chicken fried steak. The sides that come with the meal are less than stellar. The green beans literally look and taste like they were straight from the can. The Mac & cheese was watery this time around. Last time it was hard and cold like they have been made in a very long while. The mash potatoes were small ice cream scoop shaped and drenched in gravy. The overall look of the food reminded me of cafeteria food. (See picture) The services needs some massive work. Twice now I have seen and heard the servers gossiping/complaining openly to each other. Good small-chain bbq fare. Always reliable if not exceptional. And that in itself is a good thing. Hey, McD's has served billions on that formula. You know what you are going to get and that is sometimes not the case with one-off places. They can be hit or miss depending on who is doing the cooking... The 1/2 chicken had good flavor but was a tad dry. Not like a desert or anything, just enough so you notice, and after all, this is a critique, right? My wife's brisket tacos we excellent and I would probably give them a try next time around. I think of Risky's more of a lunch place, and that was when I visited, but that's just me. It's not fair for me to review a BBQ place, especially when I live in and have been conditioned for Austin BBQ, and expect Lockhart quality. That being said... Riscky's was a decent BBQ restaurant, it had a lot of fun things on the ceiling and walls (think of a Texan themed TGIFridays). We were seated immediately on a Saturday during lunch. Not many people here, but that could be due to the relative difficulty getting to this place from any direction other than NE on 377. I had the pulled pork which was fine, nothing too spectacular. The BBQ sauce was also standard and satisfied. I ordered fries, and they seemed to be strategically placed in a single layer on my basket plate. Maybe splurging and giving customers more than half a handful would help improve the experience overall. The service was great. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. I honestly don't see myself coming back unless someone who had a better experience than I did is the driver, making me captive to give this place a second chance. read more

My google review got removed!!! Here it is. My family of 5 ate here last night. The service was superb and food was decent but all night long and all day today 5 out of 5 of us have been projectile vomiting. (Coming out of both ends, including my 18 month old, 5 year old and elderly father). Upon calling the restaurant to inform them, there was no resolution and they pretty much denied it and told me to go to the doctor. They took no accountability and didnt even feel bad. I used to take everyone visiting from out of town to this place. My 65 year old father was actually visiting from out of state last night for his bday as well and it was a terrible experience for him unfortunately. I will no longer be returning to any Risckys location. It's not worth the pain, discomfort and food poisoning. We are all still miserable. My daughter had to stay home from school and my husband stayed home from work. Don't order the all you can eat ribs. The fried pickles and the ribs are the only thing we ate in common and I couldn't see pickles being the culprit. Avoid this place at all cost. 120 bucks to get sick isn't very ideal at all. Go to heim or spring creek and get your money's worth without the samonella. The health department was notified. Also, here's an update 5 days later. After recieving the same automated response everyone else did, I emailed this Darrell Johnson at darrell@risckys.com 4 days ago and he simply ignored my email. Shows how the "customer's satisfaction is most important" to them. They couldn't even write a personalized response back to me aside from changing it to my name.
