All four waitresses walked by our table, sometimes with a coffe pot on hand, no one ever served us coffee or asked if we had been waited on, meanwhile they were busy chatting amongst themselves while we sat there unattended. So glad I finally got a chance to stop in here after driving by it dozens of times. It was a ladies brunch on a nice quiet weekday morning, which meant no wait for a table. We were seated near the fireplace, which was nice on a cold day. I ordered the American omelette with ham and green peppers--it was incredibly delicious, the eggs were fluffy and light, the green peppers fresh and crispy, and it had the perfect amount of ham. My mom raved about her Spring omelette, which had fresh crab meat in it. My aunt loved her Mexican skillet. I loved the pancakes! I ordered the regular, mom ordered the multigrain pancakes, which have a bit more cinnamon in them. Great fresh-squeezed orange juice and nice, strong coffee. They leave a full coffee pot at your table so you can refill as needed--love that! I don't like it when my coffee gets cold and I have to wait for a refill. I didn't even need to refill my own cup because our server Athina was on top of it. She's a wonderful lady and treated us like family. Can't say enough good things about this place. I would return definitely! only thing that our waitress was strange keep asking my husband to get a bigger plate. like why? he was fine and comfortable with a small plate , as people usually eat from when they are sharing meals. I went with family today for brunch. I was excited to see the vegan Beyond Burger on the menu but after talking to the waitress, the way it's listed on the menu isn't vegan and all of the toppings and bun would need to be removed to make it safe to eat. I opted for a veggie skillet instead without eggs or cheese. When our meal came, the bus boy put my skillet down. When I told him it wasn't made properly, he walked away with it without saying a word and left food for two of the people at our table sitting on a tray. After a few minutes, I finally had to get the food and hand it to my family since he didn't return and it was getting cold. About 5 minutes later, my food was brought back but not remade. The egg had been scraped off leaving a few pieces behind. Absolutely inexcusable. We pulled the owner over to explain the situation and she was extremely apologetic. She went to talk to the kitchen and said she would fix it. Meanwhile two of the four people at our table were halfway done with their meals, one was never brought out and one wad screwed up twice. My meal was finally brought out with the last meal we waited for. The asparagus was undercooked and was inedible. After a few bites I bit into something crunchy and smokey. After spitting it out, I discovered it was a small piece of bacon. I am absolutely disgusted and offended. I clearly made my diet restrictions and allergies well known to our waitress who said she wrote them down. The kitchen staff completely ignored them. Had I eaten the second plate with egg pieces, they would have had a lawsuit on their hands. The owner ended up comping two of the meals but that doesn't make up for what was done. read more

This spot was a nice surprise. The menu offers a lot of variety and the food was fresh and tasty. They have all of the traditional favorites, but also offer some creative Benedicts and some sinful French toast/pancake combos that will make your sweet tooth proud. My family have been loyal supporters of Rise & Dine for many years. The staff is friendly and the service impeccable. We recently went to RND last Sunday. My niece had brought her Pad to the restaurant and somehow went missing after we returned home. My father called the next day to ask if anyone saw it and the person who answered abruptly told him it wasnt there. He showed up that day to speak to someone and the man, who I'm guessing was the owner, came at my father aggressively. Very unprofessional. Its a bummer to write this review because we've always enjoyed eating there and finding a place where the staff speak Spanish is what keeps us coming. at this point, the IPad will be replaced but we must part ways. This is my favorite breakfast house in the Chicago area. I love Tempos downtown, but Rise N Dine is much more convenient. The food is awesome. I love the skillets - especially the steak and the Irish skillet. They are the best I have had yet. Their pancakes and crepes are simply delicious and will melt in your mouth. Above all the service and atmosphere are grand. I am little confused by some of the reviews claiming poor service. The owners and staff have always treated me with the utmost respect and I base this off not a single visit, but the six times I have been here over the past 4 months. I am also a little confused as to why some people complain about the parking, which has little to do with the food or service as is only an indication of how popular this place is. How can a crowded parking lot be a bad sign and worth a 3 star rating? Honestly, don't let a few negative reviews based on isolated visits keep you from this place. Get in there and try it yourself...unless you're a pretentious northsider who thinks they should always be first and treated like royalty. I went for brunch to Rise N Dine yesterday. After hearing good reviews and getting the recommendation, I decided to give it a try. Upon entering the parking lot, it is total chaos. There were no parking spots and people were driving in and out and circling around. I took it as a good sign that this place was as busy as it was! Decor at the Rise N Dine is like something out of a movie. It is very dated, yet still hospitable and inviting. It seems like they haven't had an update/remodelfor a very very long time. If you aren't seated by the Windows, I feel like light would be a bit dark. Luckily, I got a table with some nice natural light. Because of all the hype I had heard, I was excited for the experience. However, it unfortunately turned out that hype was mostly what this place is. The wait staff was awful. Brusque, too-busy-to-care attitude, Barely checked in. They brought the sauces after I was more than half way through with my meal. As far as food quality goes, the presentation was good. The coffee was absolutely awful--the kind you might find in your office's break room for free. I would've been an idiot to be at the Rise N Dine and not go with the Rise N Dine skillet. So that's what I ordered. Though it was generous in size/portion, it was totally bland. The steak had absolutely no taste, as though it wasn't seasoned before or during cooking. And neither did the mushrooms, which were basically mushed in grease. I have never in my life had to add so much salt and pepper to a meal prepared for me in a restaurant. My mother ordered the Reuben. No complaints there. It was a great size, with decent French fries. It was very standard. I would say that my experience wasn't a complete miss. Is it worth the drive and chaotic parking situation? Because of the lack of service and bland cooking, I'd say you're better off supporting other local businesses if you don't live nearby. However, if you live right by Rise N Dine, and it is convenient, there's no reason to avoid it. read more

Excellent food. Average to horrible service and rude service when overwhelmed with full house. At begining of my seating, service was great as soon my food was on the table the dining room got flooded with alot people coming in to eat. I had the Hawaiian Five-O . Excellent quality. Too bad no other local breakfast places serves this besides Ellys in Mundelein. I would probably do take out and not deal with waiting for my pop to be refilled or waiting for the check. When I went to the bathroom as I was waiting for the check.. I came out not even 5 minutes all of the food I had on table was cleared off and not even ask me if I wanted to save my leftovers. I didnt plan on to but alot people do save leftovers. And people was seated in my table. I was standing wondering where my check was the old lady flagged me down and I paid for the food on desk and tipped the waitress 4 dollars. Which should have went to the cook. I was in the area, it was breakfast time, so....I stopped here. I frequent the bagel place down the street and have driven by this spot numerous times, but this was my first visit. Older place, looks like it has been around awhile but that's still OK. I had a nice waitress who quickly deposited a pot of coffee on my table that was pretty good. Everything was just mediocre. My southwest wrap was just ok. My fiancée got the Country Benedict which was pretty nasty... the eggs Benedict was absolutely covered in gravy so you couldn't taste anything else. This used to be our go to at Least once a month for 4 or 5 friends but I guess was recently sold? We would call on Sunday morning and reserve a table in front due to one of us being handicapped and I myself need a knee replacement so the less walking the better. While I did not make the call last time we went there, my friend was met with some resistance in trying to get a table ahead of our arrival. I was the last of us to arrive, and had no idea where my friends were seated. I walked through and found them around the other side of the building. I could tell by my friends face it would be his last time there. The food was still good as I am sure the staff is the same but due to the new management we had to find another place that could accommodate. So much more than a Pancake House! Their pancakes are very good to be sure, but their menu has undergone a wonderful expansion since the current owners bought it from Mama Sophia and family a couple of years ago! I love their grilled chicken Caesar salad with a bowl of their delicious soup! I have loved all of their homemade soups with the black bean and the split pea being special favorites. They have a new card of specials every month and all of them have been delicious- sone have even made it to the menu like the fried chicken option on salads. It goes without saying that all of their pancakes are amazing. I tried one of their creations with blueberries and mascarpone cheese- delicious. Indeed, my husband and I have never ordered anything we didn't like. They recently remodeled the dining room and included some comfortable booths. Start early if you want to go on weekends! I was disappointed our hotel didn't offer breakfast, but after just eating here I'm really glad they didn't! I wanted a nice cozy place for a good breakfast and Rise N Dine didn't disappoint! Our waiter (I believe his name was Moises) was super nice and anything we needed we literally only had to wait a few seconds for. We sat next to the fireplace which only added to how much I loved this little restaurant. I ordered the American Skillet with pancakes and it was amazing! Everything tasted great and the pancakes were nice and hot when they arrived. I just wish I could have eaten all of it. Owner greeted us and was a very polite gentleman and I told him how much I loved my breakfast. I even bought a t-shirt lol!! It's too bad we live 6.5 hours away because this is the kind of place I could eat breakfast at a few times a week. If you are in this area please make sure you stop by and eat because it won't disappoint! Our go to place for breakfast and sometimes lunch. I love egg platters there & they serve extra thick bacon. Omelets are nice & fluffy, always too much for me to eat. Delicious hash browns or you can choose fruit. I'm a fan of their biscuits instead of toast. They split the biscuit & cook them on the grill, yum! For lunch I've ordered their Stuffed Avocado, usually with tuna. Tuna does not have a lot of Mayo which I prefer. Avocado is huge. Sometimes, not ripe enough but I bring it home for later. Chicken salad melt is made with yogurt & served on toasted sour dough bread. Try to go here once a week. Servers are very attentive. I like to see the small restaurants thrive. read more
