My feet were so disgusting and the callouses were out of control and Lee did a fantastic job chiseling away the dead skin. My hands looked so pretty. Megan was fast but very meticulous. The same about Lee. I would definitely be back. I've spent tons of money on mani pedi at expensive places to be disappointed. This place is clean, they're fast and it's quiet. I have never had a bad experience with this salon. No hard upsell, no pressure. My nails always look beautiful and they are very friendly. I also have never waited more than 10 minutes to get into a chair. I called today to make an appointment for a full set, and being this is my first set of acrylics with them when she asked who I wanted, I said I wanted the best! Her reply "They are ALL the best! Like most women, I have been getting my mani/pedi's for too long to remember. Having in lived in NY, I have VERY high standards when it comes to hygiene, selection of colors, and quality of the work. I am sold on RItz nails in the District. I have yet to have a bad experience, and I have been going for almost two years. Everyone I have recommend to Ritz Nails in the District has also experienced their clean facility and great work. There has never been a time where I have not seen the utensils being sanitized, the employees take a lot of pride in how they follow hygiene procedures (I would not go to a place that does not sanitize the utensils--or is not hypersensitive with cleaning). This place used to be one of my favorite places and I ended up moving so I couldnt go anymore. Recently moved back to of so I had to come back. Yesterday I went in for acrylic nail removal and gel manicure. They said that's fine. Before when I would come they would soak the nail in acetone and foil and scrub yes it's hard work but it's a better option then sticking a plastic nail under your real nail and ripping it apart which is what one of the nail techs did and tore my nail from my skin. After I specifically requested to get someone else she continued by saying it's no blood (clearly it was bleeding) and attempting to put super glue and alcohol on my finger. The other techs offered to have someone else do which at that point I'm infuriated. The 3 star review is for my pedicure Gia did an amazing job patient and she seemed more apologetic for my finger than the other tech. They could have offered a discount or even maybe to come back the next day for a finished job. You know for being in the location and the prices they carry you would except a much better service. read more

I discovered this place on my way home from school and thought I'd stop by , this was a couple of months ago. When asked to sit down and receive service the lady who would be doing my nails asked me to pay first, her excuse was she didn't want me to mess up my nails. I didn't think anything of it until I saw two other customers next to me pay AFTER their nails were finished. Which is what usually happens in a nail salon unless you offer to pay first. I'm an African American woman & I believe they didn't trust that I would pay them for their services. I even tipped the lady after she finished, but I will never return or support this nail salon because I feel like I was discriminated against. read more

I have been going to Ritz for about 8 months now and the ONLY technician I trust is Dana. I usually get my nails done along with a pedicure. When I first started going there I had acrylics but have very recently switched over to gel manicure. I usually go every 2 weeks but sometimes I'm able to stretch to 3 weeks because of how well Dana takes care of my nails. My nails never break or chip unless I am being unusually rough with them. She is precise and pays attention to detail but she's also quick. It takes about 30 minutes for my gel manicure, as it should. I HATE when I go into a salon just to get my nails done and I end up being there over an hour. It takes away from the relaxation of getting my nails done. The salon itself is usually pretty busy so I recommend making an appointment, but only with Dana. I cannot speak for any other technician because she is the only one I have used and will continue to do so! read more

I will NEVER go to this place again. My girlfriends and I went there for a girls getaway for spa pedicures and after paying over $30 each for pedicure we walked away with average looking pedicures. However the kicker was the infections we got in our toes. We all are struggling with the infections we have and we all have babies so running around with babies and toes that are swollen from the bacteria we got at the nail salon stinks! I came in here for the first time yesterday with no appointment and they were able to take me right away. I had a mani/pedi with french manicure on both hands and feet. Jodi worked on my hands while Jan (or Jane?) worked on my feet. They were both really nice and made an effort to have a conversation with me. I grew up in the beauty salon industry so I consider myself an expert when judging salons. They both did a great job (I suggest asking for them if you haven't been here before) and were professional. This place is super clean with tons of stations. I was all done in under an hour. All of the women here do speak in a different language to each other in front of you... that's just the nail business people... most can hardly speak English. I know it's unprofessional but it's been going on forever. Everything came out to be a total of $40. I would definitely come here again. Yikes - don't come here if you're looking for a relaxing and professional experience. I should have realized before I sat down that I should turn around and walk out the door. The polish choices were limited, and those they had were old, goopy and a mess. They don't seem to use clean, sterilized utensils on each individual, either, which is a huge red flag - especially since the woman who did my mani (the worst I've ever gotten) hacked up my cuticles and the skin around my nails with what was probably a dirty cuticle snipper. Three of them bled, and there was still quite a bit of skin left on my nails, in spite of multiple requests for her to remove it or at least push it back. I asked if they had Fiji, a pretty mainstream Essie color. She said yes, and produced a nasty looking bottle of a white substance. The only resemblance to Fiji was the name on the bottle. After painting it on two nails, I asked her if she was sure it was Fiji. She showed me the label, and said it was really old. Why would you use really old polish on a customer? We ended up choosing a new color, from an equally goopy, nasty bottle and she proceeded to paint my nails. My entire manicure took 10 minutes - so sloppy and stressful, it was ridiculous. Fortunately my pedi experience was fine. Nothing special, but ok. I'm only in town visiting my daughter, but will be sure she tells all of her friends to STAY AWAY! read more

Went because it is the only nail salon that is within walking distance from my place, thus I really wanted to like this place. Their color selection is okay, nothing this season, and most of them are old and are separating. When the lady screwed up on one of my thumbs, lots of bubbles, she blamed it on the shape of my nails. She tried to fix it by layering on layers of top coat and when it didn't work she finally redid it. After she was done I noticed how she didn't clean around the nails this there were polish all around my fingers and when I asked her to clean it she looked at me really annoyed. The second time I went in, which was quite recently, I contracted some type of fungus that is making my finger swell, cause extreme pain, and eat away at the flesh. Would I ever go back there? NO. After being a loyal customer of Lovely Nails in Irvine for many years, I was referred to Ritz Nails about a year ago, and have been coming here ever since! First thing I noticed was that their spa chairs are much more luxurious than any other nail salon I've been to. Super comfortable and extremely spacious chairs that have much more massage settings than other places. Most of my services have been done by Michelle, my go-to girl who always does an impeccable job. I highly recommend her. (Tuesdays are her day off.) When I absolutely HAVE to get a mani/pedi and Michelle's not available, everyone else has been outstanding as well. I did a gel manicure once with Tony - while Michelle was doing my pedicure - and they both did a fantastic job. My gel manicure by Tony came out perfectly. I'm a happy customer every single time I leave Ritz Nails, which is usually about once or twice a month. Oh, prices are decent too. I thought at first a nail salon this nice would surely be ridiculously expensive, but they are very comparable to other spas in the area, possibly even a tad bit cheaper. read more

Dana is, by far, one of the best nail techs I have ever been to (and I have been getting my nails done for 30 years). She is very meticulous and does an incredible job EVERY TIME!! My nails never break and never lift!! I can actually go 3 weeks without a problem. I also have her do my pedicures and eye brow wax, as well, which she also does an excellent job. I am very, very picky and have no time to go back to the salon for repairs. I never have to do this with Dana. If you are not going to Ritz Nails and not using Dana... you are truly missing out!! This place sucks! The service is not very good. I have been here a few times with my first few experiences were ok. The last two I had two women who messed up my toenails by accidentally hitting a towel against my freshly polished toenails. I asked if they could fix it and one girl just left and someone else had to fix it. The second time the lady (I don't know her name but she has a boy cut) she was mad that I asked her to fix it. She redid the toenail but still didn't fix it so there was still a smudge and she was very rude. I unfortunately had given her a tip before she finished my nails. I had given up getting my nails done because I was sick of the short, terrible massages and bad paint jobs. But Ritz does none of those. Each time I go I consistently receive a very thorough and quality manicure/pedicure. The massages have always been an adequate length of time and not just slapping lotion around. They paint jobs always cover the entire nail. Every time I go they have one person dedicated to coordinating the walk-ins and appointments and are typically pretty accurate about how long the wait will be. I also like how they always have a movie playing. The chairs have the roller massages and not just the vibration. The only con I can find is that they are usually busy every time I go, but they have always been worth the wait. Prices are comparable to most places; $35 for a mani/pedi with callous remover. And they have a great selection of OPI and Essie colors. read more
