Amazing breakfast! All of the staff is incredibly friendly and hard working. I have been many times (over ten) and have not had a bad experience to speak of. The pancakes are huge, fluffy, and probably better than your grandmas. My boyfriend gets them every time and every time he comments they are better than before. I am a fan of the pulled pork breakfast taco, which are fabulous for brunch. I have not gone at lunch yet, but plan to. If the lunch menu is half as good as the breakfast it will be well worth it! read more

I gravitate toward my coffee and country breakfasts on weekends because, as a teacher, I rarely get to eat a real breakfast during the week. River Oaks Cafe isn't far from my house, and it's relatively inexpensive. They offer several options for differing appetites which is hard to find these days. For example, I would definitely eat off of the senior menu at any restaurant in terms of my appetite, but i'm not a senior. So, I like that, at River Oaks, I can get a 1 egg breakfast with toast and hash browns for like $5. West Side Cafe is still my favorite, but River Oaks is a close second. They're neck and neck in terms of the meal itself, but I like the coffee better at West Side. No matter which place you choose, you'll have a great, cozy breakfast. read more

Oh yeah this place is worth the drive. The place gets filled pretty quickly but there is a ton of staff that stays busy maintaining customers satisfied. The food was quality and there were many options. The servers were all friendly and helpfully and even though the location seemed busy, our food was ready in a flash. So this place is great! Decided to try it out after seeing all of the good reviews. I had the CFS with eggs, hash brown. All of which were fantastic. My SO got the grilled mac n cheese which she rates a 4 out of 5 which it looked amazing I should had a bite. I would recommend this restaurant. I have been a long time Yelp user, but have never written a review. I felt after coming so often to the River Oaks Cafe and having a great experience every time that I needed to write one! My husband and I found the cafe after moving to the area several months ago. We have most often had the breakfast and it has never disappointed. Our standby is the kitchen sink omelette, but the other items are great as well. Your coffee stays full and hot the whole time and the service is top-notch. Today is actually the first time we have come in for lunch. My husband ordered the patty melt and I got the BBQ chicken. Everything was as you would expect for a home style cooking restaurant. Big water cups along with random assorted coffee mugs. Wait staff is very attentive and happy to be there. I've never had to ask for a refill. Honestly all I ever get is the Big ol' Cafe Breakfast (think that's what it's called) because it is that good. 3 eggs, choice of meat (actual substantial portion, esp. ham), hashbrowns, and 2 HUGE sweet, fluffy pancakes all for around $7. I real can't say enough about this amazing cafe. The staff is very friendly and provide quick and courteous service. The food is everything you would want from a homestyle restaurant - breakfast ranges from eggs your way, bacon ham and sausage, pancakes that fill up the entire plate, and then crispest, most amazing toast I've ever eaten. They also have egg white omelettes and other offerings for those looking for "healthy" options. While I have only enjoyed their breakfast I'm sure the rest of the menu is great as well. Oh my gosh! If you're looking for breakfast with a hometown, everybody knows your name feel, then this is your place!! Robin, our server, was attentive and didn't let a glass go empty. She was a delight and was super sweet with my rowdy boys. Now, on to the food! We got the big old cafe breakfast, and it defeated even my biggest eater. Perfectly cooked eggs (why is over-medium to hard to get right, people?!), crispy hashbrowns (I always ask for extra crispy, because most places serve them limp and sad, but even their usual ones were perfectly cooked, so I would have been happy with them regular), and, y'all, fluffy pancakes bigger than our heads. The meats were perfectly prepared. The bacon was crisp, but not burned, and the sausage was perfect, spicy but not hot. I opted for the biscuits and gravy, and I was thrilled to get two light and fluffy biscuits with perfectly smooth creamy gravy. One son got the omelet, and he tore into it with the drive of a starving man. It was wonderful. While we were waiting for our meals, we even played a couple games of ConnectFour, chosen from the stack of family-friendly games at the front counter. This place is everything a diner is supposed to be! The service was polite and attentive, my food was cooked perfectly. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, it came with a biscuit, gravy, hash browns and two eggs however you want them, I had mine over easy. The steak was tender, the eggs were just right, and the biscuits were fresh. The restaurant gives you a huge 32(?!)oz glass for drinks, even for water. It definitely has that diner feel, the walls are covered in local sports team items and kitsch country stuff; the crowd was mostly older people when I was there. Heck, it even has a checkerboard floor! The location is easy to pass by as it's in a strip mall flanked by a tax prep service and other bland chains, but this is a total diamond in the rough.
