When I come in town for work, I always make a stop here. Food is ALWAYS solid! Fresh, tasty. And sweet staff!

On first glance, this looks like a fairly standard family restaurant, but Rivercrest stands above most. The service is phenomenal! It's a place where staff knows their "regulars" well enough to predict who will like which daily special(s) most & where no coffee cup ever goes empty. Good service is important, but good food is essential for a restaurant. The Rivercrest menu has some nice surprises (i.e., Blueberry Oat Bran Pancakes) & greater depth of vegetarian selection that help them rise above their competitors. For others with Food Allergies: Unfortunately, their menus are not allergen marked & there isn't any online access to ingredient info. However, I've found them to be very reliable when it comes to potential cross-contact risks & they are willing to "customize" an order/item as requested. I highly recommend them! read more

This place has been around forever and we've eaten breakfast and dinner here in the past. We were in the neighborhood so stopped for our evening meal. Spouse had the goulash, which he called mediocre. The sauce was kind of greasy and he poured some off his leftovers before warming them up. I had the chicken piccata, which the server recommended when I gave her my 2 options I was considering. The chicken was good, and there were plenty of artichokes and capers the mashed potatoes were so salty I could not eat them. While the side vegetable was frozen green beans, they were not cooked until they were mushy, which is a nice plus. The server was very friendly and made sure that our drinks did not run dry. Food is good. Flooring is filthy dirty carpet that has needed replacement years ago. Might be busier is if had a good cleaning.

Has it been 7 years since I wrote my last review for Rivercrest? Last time was pot roast over noodles. My latest review is for handmade Swedish Meatballs over Noodles. A local diner for me, this Mom and Pop restaurant has been a favorite of mine for decades. With plenty of parking outside in their private lot, they also have plenty of seating inside, as well. The reason I like visiting Rivercrest is that they have consistently good food at reasonable prices. The waitstaff is very efficient in taking orders, delivering the food, and removing dishes. I find the seating arrangement is ample and the tabletops are always clean. The menu has a variety of offerings and there is sure to be something to appeal to the casual patron diner. There are daily specials and weekend specials, so you can dine anytime they are open and eat for less. They also offer seniors specials in their regular menu. If you are looking for a good meal with great prices, one that has ample portions (where you might have to take some home for another meal), Rivercrest Family Dining is just that place. We were visiting from the west side of Michigan Labor Day weekend and read the reviews so we decided to have dinner here...they did not disappoint! My husband is extremely picky about his fish and he ordered the Walleye dinner, he ate the whole dinner and was impressed with the how the fish dinner was made. I had the Hawaiian Chicken dinner which was also amazing. The staff was attentive and the food was served rather quickly. We are going back for breakfast before we begin our trip back home. read more

I am from California and living in Las Vegas. Decided to come by this diner while visiting a friend. Right when I walked in, I was greeted to show acknowledgement, which is great. The waitresses were very helpful. One recommended the almond crusted chicken salad. I appreciated the fact that she was very honest with what she like and didn't like. I chose what was recommended by the waitresses. Italian wedding soup - meatballs, spinach and cabbage. Warm and comforting. A bit on the saltier side but I didn't mind it compared to other places where they had too much salt. Topped with oyster crackers to give it a nice crunch. Almond crusted chicken salad - The chicken was surprisingly very crispy and moist! Most places make their chicken dry and soggy crust but this was not the case. The strawberries and lettuce were fresh. The side of pita bread was toasty. I had to stop myself from over eating. I asked for poppy seed dressing on the side so I can dip instead. Coconut cream pie w/ vanilla ice cream a la mode - When I first took a bite I was a bit taken back. The texture was like a gel texture and I wasn't sure if it was from the white top or bottom. I then realized that it was the first time I had tried REAL meringue! Places I had tried before like Marie Calendar's or fast food pies did not taste like this. It was more like a whipped cream than a meringue texture. I am happy that I tried this pie. It was so good. I made myself stop eating. Great friendly service. Great food. I ended up here on Valentine's Day with my parents on our way to an event for after the place, we were intending to go with the closed. What a lucky turn of events! Their daily specials menu was huge as was their regular menu and they also serve breakfast 24/7. To top it off we enjoyed 2 hot fudge cream puffs which were delicious! This is a hidden little gem in the back of a plaza that could be easily overlooked. It was easy to tell that this was a family owned business, and everyone cared not only about the food, but about the service! read more

My husband and I found this little gem about 15 years ago. We love the food and the people all the way from the cooks to the servers and greeters make you feel like "home"! We have taken many visitors here and they have enjoyed the family fun atmosphere. A great place to take children because of this!! We enjoy seeing familiar faces like the "bikers" who are in there quite often as a familiar stop on their voyages! The entire family welcomes you with open arms and big smiles. We have never had anything we have not liked here. They have daily specials and their regular menu leaves nothing to be desired. Prices are comparable to any other family restaurant around. The Roseville/Harrison Township/Clinton Township area has its fair share of family restaurant/diners. And this is one of them. The setting is a typical diner. Couple of TV's, booths and tables, and a bar. Intentionally homey atmosphere. Nothing outstanding, good or ill. Service has always been decent. Again, nothing overwhelmingly great to say, but no real complaints either. And the food is the same: perfectly fine. Better than fast food, not quite at the level of larger casual dining places. All in all, it's a restaurant destined to be one of the many in your selection wheel ... never the first choice, but never the last. A place that embodies okay. read more

My wife and I were driving down Harper and saw this place and decided to stop in for dinner. There were a lot of cars there so we figured it must be pretty good. We figured wrong. Maybe, possibly we caught them on a bad day. First they got my wife's order wrong. She was assisted by the waitress to choose a chicken pita and fries. What she got was a lamb gyros and fries. We let them know it was wrong but my wife was hungry land didn't want to wait. They did offer to make it right. I ordered the chicken kabobs and fries. The menus said that it came with an "orange honey" glaze on it. It was orange marmalade. Absolutely terrible. The worst meal that I ever paid for and I have had some bad food. This was the worst. The fries were okay but I will bet that they fill up the Heinz ketchup bottles with cheap stuff. The bottle was old and peeling. Not good. The owner or manager came by. He looked like a bum. Not shaved and dirty looking. He asked how the food was and my wife said the gyro was okay. I let him know that I wasn't a fan of the orange honey. I said it tasted like orange marmalade. He verified that it was. He said that everybody liked it. No possible way. The service Beas pleasant even though they got the order wrong. This place deserves 0 stars for the food and 2 stars for the service. That make one his a 1 star visit. I will never go back there. There are much better places to go. I hate to say it but the chain restaurants are a better value and better food. We could have ate pretty much anywhere else for the $32.47 before tip. It really hurts to give a review like this for a local business. read more

Great value. Clean. Lots of sunlight. The dishes are affordable and uncomplicated. Very tasty. My son had kid's pancakes. Simple but tasty. The bacon is yummy. I paid $4.25 for two eggs, hashbrowns, bacon and toast. My husband are the biscuits and gravy. He says the gravy is very good. The coffee is hot and flowing. The service is attentive. I liked seeing several regulars including a large group of men who obviously congregate here often. This place is big with plenty of seating. read more

I don't think I'll come back. The service was pretty good, and the seating area was clean, but the food involved the least possible effort. I've had the Polish plate before and loved it. This last visit I ordered the pulled pork, which consisted of roast pork with Open Pit squirted on it. My wife ordered pieroghies and complained that they were probably Mrs. T's taken out of the freezer. I was cooking with more flair and imagination when I was eight years old. Don't bother. read more

Me and my mother went there yesterday morning, we both had breakfast, we both had hash browns. Her hash browns were very nice and my hash browns were hard and Cold. Kind of odd since they both came out at the same time I just can't figure that out. I had a ham and cheese omelette which was actually pretty good, the owner came out and apologized about the hash browns, that went a long way with me because I've never had that happen. My 9 year old son had been hereby before, and he encouraged me to visit. I'm glad he did. The staff was amazing, and the food was as well.
