We asked for the dishes to be spicy and they definitely delivered! The girls at the front desk/cash register though are super unfriendly and do not get the pronunciation of the simple foods like NAAN. I have been a monthly visitor to Kabila. I have had nothing but positive experience for the most part. However, I had a very different experience today afternoon 11/21/2024. The food felt stale. It seemed that the curries both veg and non-veg were not freshly prepared but they re used left overs. I did not overeat but still felt very sick after eating the lunch. Went for the $19 weekday buffet and thought it was a really great deal. Everything I tried was yummy. Options consisted of mostly chicken, one goat dish, and a few vegetarian. Our waiter said the selection can vary from day to day. The chicken was always moist and the fish pakora was not fishy. The naan comes out fresh and is brought to your table. Nothing was very spicy (especially by normal Indian food standards) but most things had at least a mild kick. They have a few sauces--a green one, a tamarind one, and raita. If you ask, they'll bring you a hot sauce that's pretty spicy. The chai is a little watered down, but it's nice and hot and comes with the buffet, so I can't really complain. I do wish they offered galub jamun as a dessert, but the kheer was nice. There was also a plate of something bar-shaped, but I'm not sure what it was. Service was friendly. (Tbh, none of them looked very welcoming, but if you needed anything, they were very nice.) The restaurant was clean (didn't use the restroom). Turnover was good on the day we went, so food should always be fresh. We got there a little after 1130 (they open at 11 but don't start the buffet until 1130) and there were already quite a few buffet-goers. Around 1230 the lunch rush really began and a giant influx of office workers poured in. I'm already looking forward to going back! read more

Serious Quality Issue. I ordered Malai Kofta and it was obviously made out of leftover gravy which was probably heated and stored and then heated again a few times. It was obviously not made fresh. I ordered the same dish a few times before and it used to be one of the best dishes with striking texture and great taste. With today's order I am very disappointed. We are a family of three that was really looking forward to this visit. Went in at 1ish on a Friday afternoon. Pros: Very well located off Crow Canyon and restaurant is clean with great ambience. Cons: 1. Buffet food looked unappetizing and lacked flavor 2. Tandoori chicken was cold and felt the marinating wasn't done well. 3. Went to pick up my food and then as I was leaving asked for the Pyaaz and chutney which is a staple at most restaurants complimentary including this one and he said they changed the policy and now there is a extra charge. This has changed my thoughts on service. Sorry if you have some customers that are wasteful but in a Punjabi household this is a important accompaniment with every meal. While the food is good the price is exorbitant for the portion size. Everything is al la carte, as well. You want naan or rice with that already expensive small lunch entree? That'll be an extra $4.50. I didn't appreciate the hard up-sell on the second order of naan and rice for another $4.50 ("Oh, one order won't be enough for you two." One carby naan and rice order was PLEEENNNTY). I guess carbs are cheap but don't give up too much protein. So, a lunch for two with paltry servings or curry goat, curry lamb, vegetables cost $75 all in, along with double servings of rice and naan) SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS! And that's taking into account we were drinking "tap water" when we skipped the bottled water up-sell. Raise you hand if you think upsells at mealtime are annoying as all hell. I placed the order through Uber Eats for non-and hand, chicken and butter chicken. Did you wait an hour later to be told my orders been canceled and this was my dinner, this is ridiculous and should not be tolerated and if the s owner is allowing this that's extremely shameful. What a great experience they gave us I did my 40th birthday dinner there and they made my day very special with great service they are so friendly and professional all servers was well behaved and gentle. After that day of dinner we have gone there every weekend. Was super excited when Kabila opened up in my town. After all we had been going to union city for many years now. After trying this place a few times, I think I would avoid going here unless it is for buffet. Ordered butter chicken, shahi paneer, fish pakora and veg pakora. Shahi paneer was inedible with too much spice and ginger ( ordered mild) and veg pakora was totally underwhelming with dryness. Butter chicken and Fish pakora was okay. Nothing was epic. This is exactly what this area needs! We finally made it in to this beautifully designed new Indian restaurant and we got exactly what we were craving! The great selection of Indian classics and some modern twists. I thought I was in a vegas buffet, everything was so top notch/classy/hip and the energy was everywhere. There was music in the air and my gold rimmed plate couldnt fill up fast enough. Even at the end of the lunch buffet the place was packed with from what I could tell was the instant cult following, there was a party in the private room, and the lobby was full (but being seated rapidly). Smiles were abundant and there was a defining buzz and rumble. They offer a good selection of classic/modern indian fare. Butter chicken, Mushroom tikka marsala, a few paneer dishes, and some really good pakoras (vegi/fish). I found the tandoori chicken juicy with a bit of a kick and went down really nicely paired with the biryani! The self service buffet is beautifully laid out and dishes are kept warm by a very sheik burner/marble custom counter space. Everything is really high end but not stuffy, perfect from business lunch to family outing. Nice strong chai tea, and a full assortment of classic desserts satisfy any sweet tooth. Service is extremely friendly and helpful, our lunch date ran a bit late and they didnt seem to mind us hanging out after they started to wrap up (3ish). I wanted to give a special shout out to Nadia, a server in the main hall. She was friendly helpful and attentive. One of our favorite sweets was gobbled up before we had a chance to get any. Without hesitation she tracked us down a couple in their attached bakery and that's what took my 4 star review to a 5er. Thanks again Nadia! Food : The samosa chat was good and portion/size was huge. Easily servers 2 people as an appetizer. The aloo paratha was BAD. It was soggy and bland. The hostess inquired about the food and I gave her an honest feedback. She tried to justify the soggy paratha which was pretty ridiculous. Overall experience was disappointing. A few times a week I am on the road in East Bay and South Bay. It was indeed a pleasure to stop by for Lunch Buffet the other day at Kabila, San Ramon. It is a thoughtfully and elegantly designed restaurant. Buffet: There is a large variety of items - Tandoori Chicken, Fish Pakora, Goat Curry, Biryanis, vegetarian dishes and more. The dessert and the masala tea at the end was just superb! I was glad that the Naan was not a part of the buffet spread because they bring you a freshly made Naan after you sit down to eat. Awesome! Being in the field, I have been to many such buffets but I strongly recommend this place. I will come back with friends and famiy. Have been meaning to try this food joint ever since they opened and finally we did, location of the restaurant is very nice and the dining are is very clean as well, sweet section not so much. Everyone I ran into working there seemed very courteous and friendly even though it was a take out my experience has been stellar, service courtesy 4.5/5, I took half a star 'coz you took order for the item you didn't have and no way to communicate (suggest taking ph number for in-person to-go orders as many may have something else to wrap up instead of waiting there). To our dismay food experience was anything but... we ordered two curries, naan, kulcha and 2 chaat items and came back after 30 to pick up the food, one of the curries was not out-of-stock or they didn't have it anymore (ok, probably we can make do with something it was laate lunch order so I can understand), 1) Gobi Manchurian (they didn't have it, so I got the refunded without any issue and an apology) 2) Dhaba Bhindi -- 1/5 (Over powered with masala & very chewy Okra, not edible so trashed it) 3) Naan & Kulcha were 4/5 (nothing left to eat it with but the items were good) 4) Samosa Chaat 4/5 (One of the only thing that we were somewhat happy about) 5) Aloo Tikki chaat (Aloo was just yuck 1/5 straight up in the trash) We basically had no other food left expect Samosa chaat and some naan. One thing I would say is that the food here is rich and heavy on the tummy so it didn't sit right with anyone in my fam. I had very nice experience with their Union City location so based on that experience coupled with courteous service at this location I'll eventually come around to give this location an another chance, not anytime soon. read more

I was excited when I heard Kabila was coming to San Ramon as I've always been a fan of the Union City location. Kabila in UC has been around forever and their food was always the best around. The San Ramon location is horrible. If you eat there or order DoorDash, the food is hit or miss. Some days it's great and some days it's inedible. I assume the food is good the days they have their old cooks from UC work. They have screwed up so many times on orders, that I have to finally write them a review. I ordered chicken tikka masala tonight on door dash and they sent me a dry chicken tikka. What the hell am I going to do with that and my naan? I called them up and the lady starts telling me it's not their fault. The only thing that came up on their end said chicken tikka so they just GUESSED what to make. Why not contact me??? She then said I could drive there and get a replacement. If I wanted to drive, I wouldn't have ordered DoorDash, genius!! The "Punjabi Chicken Tikka" that I ordered was nasty. Boiled chicken with a sliver of onion and one sliver of bell pepper. Absolutely NO flavor. They should close this location and just focus on Union City. read more

The server was just like you can cancel it online with no empathy about the wait. I actually can't cancel it on your website (not doordash). So then the manager comes out saying we don't want your money of course we will cancel. No, your server said I need to cancel it and it doesn't provide an option to cancel. So hopefully it gets cancelled and I don't have to deal with the lack of service again. Ridiculous read more

Went here for Mother's Day and the staff insisted only serving buffet, but I wanted to try their ala carte so the staff mentioned the waiting time for ala carte is more than 30 mins and I should stick with buffet (since the spread wasn't that appealing to me I wanted to try items from menu) but when I finally placed order for ala carte they got the food out in less than 5 mins. Felt like they were just pushing me to take buffet option since it's self service and also better for restaurants for margins (I guess). Never saw a restaurant being so pushy. The food was meh. Nothing extra ordinary. Lots of Indian restaurants around this area have upped their game but this place seems to me going south. The ambience is good and sweets seems frozen and not fresh at all. This place is near my work and I often go there with my friends and colleagues for lunch whenever I feel to have good lunch and nice ambience in the area . The chef know the spices and process of making Indian style cooking . I usually order chicken vindaloo and goat curry with garlic nans . The taste is always up to the mark and heat is controlled and enjoyable on bad part might be eating more the you hungry but that is due to good taste . You can order desserts they make fresh from scratch everyday . I have ordered gulab jamun (hot) and that was nice finish to a fabulous lunch all the time . nice clean restaurant with lots of open seating. we've had Kabila's catering plenty of times but this was our first dine-in experience. We came with our 2 young children around 5:45pm and noticed that the only other families dining also had small children :) We were seated promptly and ordered a butter chicken, shaahi paneer, cucumber raita and both types of naan. The naan was buttery and perfect - my toddler gobbled it up, along with the paneer cubes. Unfortunately the shaahi paneer was far too thick and creamy and it didn't settle well for any of us, so that dish was a waste. We ordered the butter chicken "medium" spice and it was perfect. The raita and coke paired with it perfectly :) We'll definitely come back. read more
