I came to this restaurant for lunch. A girl named Jamie was my server. She was polite, attentive and cared about my needs. To be honest, Jamie seemed like she went above and beyond, helping other waitstaff in their sections. I saw Jamie sitting down at a corner table, located by the kitchen, for a break. She had a plate of food that she was getting ready to eat. She hadn't been sitting there for more than a minute, when a lady appearing to be the manager on duty, went to the table that Jamie was sitting at. She was extremely rude and loud when talking to Jamie, not appearing to care if the customers overheard her. She told Jamie that what she was doing was completely inappropriate and that she needed to get up immediately and do her job. I heard Jamie tell the manager (Jackie) that she had finished all of her sidework and had also helped some other staff members. The manager loudly exclaimed that she didn't care and that Jamie needed to get up. Jamie appeared crestfallen at the way she was being spoken to and quietly reminded Jackie that she had been there for over 4 hours and would appreciate taking her 15 minute break, to eat. Jackie loudly stated that, "this is not how things are done here" and forced her to get up. I was disgusted at what I saw and to make matters worse, I then saw the "manager" sitting down herself, to eat a plate of food!!! Hidden gem... and right across the street from where I work at Boulder Hyundai... Who knew?!??! So let's jump right into it. The food was amazing. Me and my boss checked it out for lunch and I ordered the Roadhouse burger which had Beef Short Ribs and caramelized onions on top of a big, juicy yummy burger patty!!!!!! WOW!!!! He ordered the short rib enchiladas and loved em as well... on top of all of that, our server, Jacklyn Scott, was amazing. This place is so delicious! They have a great variety on their menu but I stuck with a burger and have zero regrets. It was so flavorful and the lemon parm kale was amazing too! The service was incredible. They quickly accommodated our party of 8, had no issue rushing two meals for our guests on a time crunch, delivered a free basket of delicious pretzel bites and queso that the kitchen made by mistake, and kept the flow of food and drinks timed perfectly. The kids menu was fresh and delicious housemade items as well which is a rare find. The restaurant itself is so gorgeous and I love all the details that incorporate the building's original roots as a train depot. The coolest thing was a quiz on the kid's menu about the depot and when completed earns your child a free sundae. read more

This place has the best Sea Bass, good apps, and a great kids menu. However, we went here about 6 times and my husband blacklisted them because the service was soo bad. Last Sunday, he gave it one more chance to try their brunch and our server, John, renewed our faith in this place. He took such great care of us and I am happy to say we're coming back. Was treated poorly by our waitress and when asked if we could talk to the manager she said the manager was too busy to speak with us. Planned on ordering food and drinks and were turned down due to having vertical ID and they would not accept a second form of ID to prove legal age. First, The service was incredible. Our waitress knowledgeable, friendly, and timely. I wish I remembered her name so that I could give her a shout out in yelp. We were greeted quickly when we came in and felt very comfortable Secondly, The brunch food was on point. I had a roadhouse burrito, which has caramelized onions and is smothered in this unique cheese sauce. I would eat it again tomorrow if I could. We had lunch last Saturday and had a great experience so we decided to return with my in-laws for dinner. What a mistake! First, we did not make a reservation so that was our fault. However, we went to sit at the bar to have a drink and appetizer while we waited but were told our five year-old could not be at the bar during dinner service. The bartender said this was a restaurant rule. It seemed strange to me since the bar is integrated in to the restaurant, there were plenty of seats available, and this appeared to be something that was only in place during dinner. Once we were seated at our table and placed our orders the wait was extremely long for us to be served our food - at least 35 minutes. The place was busy but, if their kitchen can't handle that many guests, they need to fix things. My daughter's order was also incorrect. The server caught it before it came out but it took extra time as it was actually the wrong dish. It's one thing for the adults to wait for food but that is a challenge for a child - especially when the order was placed almost immediately after we sat down. Add to all of this that neither the server or a manager made any acknowledgement and apology for the long wait. Great burgers, the BMA is especially good, their fries are also on point, even if a bit on the greasy side, both regular and sweet potato are top notch. Prices are reasonable for this kind of place, ~15 for a burger. I'd pass on the drinks, not worth the price. The pizzas are also quite good! The only major downside is the service. I have been here 5 times now and have not had good service a single time. Once they took 40min to give us our bill because someone messed up the system, but then offered no apology and didn't try to make it up to us. Drinks getting refilled is very rare, messed up orders are the norm and they are very clear about being unhappy if you have any coupon or ask for a parking validation (which they dont really do, they just take $1 off your bill) If you're willing to suffer trough some pretty mediocre service, it's a place worth visiting for the ambiance and the food. read more

It was Cinco de Mayo so the place was empty so it's not like they had tables to fill. We explained that we came from a potluck and that we were just coming for drinks and wanted to sit at a table. I've been here three times now and am compelled to write this review to save others the money, time, and pain. Each visit was worse than the one before. Don't be fooled by the BOGO coupons either. Half priced lousy food is still too much for lousy food. The food. Abominably greasy. Especially the Brussel sprouts which were greasier than the fries. The flavors: muddled. Enchiladas were coated with a WHITE sauce that would have been far more at home on fettuccine noodles or drop biscuits. Short ribs were over cooked and dry. The service: disdainful. Hey Depot, if you distribute Buy One, Get One coupons, expect people to bring them in. Don't act snotty because someone is going to take advantage of your own promotion. The atmosphere: set in what appears to be the back of a car lot on the side of a hotel driveway, the place is easy to miss. If you can find it, plop down on the comfy outside patio furniture and prepare to wait. And wait. Or, sit inside and ponder the confused sports bar meets hotel bar meets meals on wheels. Every table inside is on castors. The parking: an experience on its own. Residents above the hotel hate cars that don't live there. We happened by an unfortunate vehicle that was double parked. The rear wiper had been broken off and stuffed under the front wiper. A note skewered by the broken wiper detailed the angst suffered by some aggrieved tenant. At $2.50 an hour you can be sure the Depot won't ask if you need parking validated. Bottom line: there are better restaurants for this style of food. Don't waste your time and money here. Try foolish Craig's or the Cork for a great burger or Protos for excellent pizza. read more

Usually we love this place are here multiple times a month so when our 8 year old wanted to eat here for his birthday we came. Came at 5:25 when we have never had an issue getting a table. We showed they were practically empty, but they said they were booked. They sat us outside without heaters. We only stayed because it was the kid's birthday and it was his choice. The wind came on strong and almost took out umbrellas and still the restaurant was empty and they would not seat us inside. By the time we were done they were still empty. I call utter BS on the "we are full" garbage. I've never been this annoyed and angry at an establishment. Our food was half full on the plates, not like before. They better fix their management issue because of this type of service and plating continues their only saving grace is their location. read more

I'm still giving it some room for improvement. The location is good as it's a bit off the beaten path. Some may not like that as not many people would end up there by chance or just drop in because they happen to be walking by. The building is really pretty and the restaurant has some nice wood details however, it can also look a bit cheap as it feels like they tried too hard. Like a cheap Pottery Barn. We first ordered drinks and my Canyon Road house wine was rancid. Ok, it's Canyon Road, not Opus One but it should still come out tasting slightly drinkable. The others got flat beer on tap. The rest of the wines on the list are expensive for what they offer. For instance, Dreaming Tree Pinot Noir is $13 for a glass and a half. They should be offering that wine for $10 for a glass and a half. Isn't Dreaming Tree on par with Yellowtail or Cupcake Wines? The food. I would say bordered on meh to pretty bad. The turkey burger was good and juicy and the fries were ok as well. My sons mac and cheese tasted too funky, like mold even for me. I ordered the green chili and it came out gelatinized. The chili had a glossy look to it and after a few bites, I sent it back as it was oversalted. Like beyond over salted. I often enjoy over salted foods but this was unbearable. So then I got a vegetable soup with was completely unremarkable. One the side we got the brussel sprouts. Was pretty heavy on the mouth as I think they're deep fried. Then for the rest of the evening I had a reminder of the brussel sprouts and the heavy oil. Bleh. The ahi tacos are just sweet and flimsy. No signs of ahi but many signs of the sweet mango salsa. Was there even ahi in there? We also had some chips and salsa. Nothing to write home about as it's standard chips and salsa. The menu has other offerings such as flatbread pizza and some main entrees. I'm not sure whether we just got food that they aren't very good at executing or maybe it's all kind of bad. But then again, the menu isn't very big like BJ's or Cheesecake Factory so I don't see why they can't focus on excelling on the few dishes they have to offer. Many say restaurants execute good appetizers and bomb on entrees. Maybe that's the problem. We ordered mostly apps and perhaps their strong point is with entrees. Whatever the case is, they have some time to improve and I hope they do! Oh and the parking. You have to park in the RTD lot. Easy enough. However, the restaurant doesn't really validate. They'll only subtract $2.50 from your bill which I believe covers the first hour. Then when we left, we had to pay an additional $3.00 or so. Maybe it was more. We couldn't have been there for more than 90 minutes as it was the three of us and didn't eat multiple courses or had long conversations, with our young child. It's not entirely their fault but on a Sunday night at 7pm with a mostly empty parking lot someone would at least throw you a bone. Even Pearl St. is free on the weekends for parking. read more

After dining here 4 times now, I need to provide an honest review. It had a fun atmosphere and the staff is lovely, however every time our family eats here we leave feeling ill. The burgers and fries are significantly more greasy than anywhere else.. And the quest has some kind of green chili sausage flavoring... But the base appears to be the cheese "wiz"style type of mystery over processed cheese... It all tastes like over priced bar food ( unhealthy, deep fried, bar food) the pretzels are not as soft and tasty as the Kim and Scott pretzels you buy at Costco and microwave at home... These at the depot were hard and tasted not good... And the chips we have had have each time been sort of stale tasting. The guac to dip in is the bagged non fresh type as is the salsa... At least that is how the food tastes to my family. I gave the restaurant two stars because the only redeeming food they serve are the candied spicy Brussels sprouts. These treats appear to be deep fried and then roasted in some sort of sugar coated glaze with a sprinkle of heat. They taste great but again you will feel ill later if you choose these for a dinner item.. If you don't like mushrooms this is one of your only options for a vegetarian meal. All in all the parking is also an irritation - the restaurant will credit your check back for what they expect you will pay In parking. If you show them a parking ticket they estimate the time and amount of your check... We stayed too long after our bill wa smashed out so we paid another $1.25 not a big deal but still one more thing... AND. I refuse to pay more than $15 for a burger that is so greasy, when I'm not being held captive by VAIL on the mountain boarding for a day, after for getting my lunch! This place is truly average, with the exception of their burgers. The service was certainly lacking; I received an eye roll from a hostess when I asked not to seated next to the restrooms. My server got my order incorrect three times on a night that was pretty slow. By the time I was finally given what I had requested, it was soggy and cold. I kind of gave up at this point. I've had a couple of their burgers, and while they are pretty good, they aren't enough to make the Roadhouse worth going to unless you're in the Hyatt Place and don't feel like walking very far to get a meal. read more

I always thought this place was called "The Depot." But no, there's a Roadhouse in front. And today, I experienced the Roadhouse Burger. This bad burger with topped with thinly sliced prime rib blew my mind. I'm not sure if I was just really hungry, or this food was truly amazing, but I do know that I devoured in bliss. I ordered some gravy to dip the french fries in (which by themselves were really good), and it was awesome. The gravy is made with jalapeño and what seemed to be like a cream cheese substance, but don't let that deter you. Although not traditional, It was awesome. Across from sat a side of Kale that my table companion had ordered. And again, this was awesome. I've had all varieties of Kale; roasted; baked; pan fried; and seared, but this was totally different. They made this kale taste juicy, and oddly like a delicious spaghetti. I think it derived from the parmesan type vinaigrette/sauce on it. But man, the most enjoyable kale eating experience I've had. Service was great. Parking isn't bad. Theres a garage right there, which you have to pay for, but there are also free(ish) spots right by the entrance. If you want to put in a serious workout before your meal you could also park near the Barnes and Nobles and Natural grocers and walk the couple hundred feet down the bike path to get there too. Meh. Was excited to try this place. But unfortunately it was Meh from start to finish. Ambiance is nice. Service was pretty bad. He checked back to see if we wanted more beer and wine but never refilled water glasses which all four were empty when he came by. Manager did a fly by to ask how food was but was gone before you could reply. Nice to ask but it was clear she was not actually checking in. Over priced for what you get. My husband had the Gorgonzola pear salad. It looked like they took lettuce from a Costco tub and dumped it on a plate. Could count how many cheese crumbles were on the salad. At least the pear was decent. Maybe worth $3 but not $11. Burger was okay but not great - also not worth $14. They either need to up quality and service to match their prices or lower their prices and be more of pub with mediocre food and mediocre service. Not the restaurants fault but parking was annoying. You have to ask them for validation before paying your bill and they give you $1.25 off your bill. You think the waiter might want to mention that before you pay. Of course he didn't so when we asked they explained they could refund our credit card and said that with a look of annoyance. seems silly at that point to do so but yet rubbed me wrong and finished the night on a not so positive note. $100 plus for four for poor service, meh food - I don't feel the need to return. Too many decent places in Boulder at the same price range - suggest save your money and give it a skip. read more
