Were these chicken fingers breaded by the gods?!? I am a huge fan of chicken and this is the best place to go for a wide variety of chicken dishes in my honest opinion. They have everything from sandwiches to roasted or fried chicken. My favorite thing to order is the combo platter with chicken fingers and ribs. The platter also comes with two sides, they have so many options for sides you won't know which one to choose! My favorite sides are baked sweet potato and broccoli. The ribs just fall right off the bone and it is bathed in this sweet and slightly spicy BBQ sauce. If you want to hit this place up make sure to get ahead of the lunch rush because finding parking can be a bit of a pain. If you can eat a lot of food like me this is a great place to go, they will start you off with all the corn bread and dinner rolls you can consume in one sitting. It is a decent amount of food for those who are looking for a large meal for a good price. Roasters also provide catering services and party platters which in my opinion is really excellent for Holidays or any kind of party. Thanks for being my holiday life savor! I will admit I can't cook and I'm too lazy. The past couple of years I've been showing up to my friend's Thanksgiving with food from Roasters and claiming I made it. I have a very very deep pit of the stomach love for this place. Lets start with the location, easily convenient, just shoot up Buford Hwy and make a left onto Lenox Road it will be just a short distance down on your left.... It's worth it, I promise. Oh, the glorious corn muffins... the perfect mixture of sweet and corn. Top with their melty sweet butter and you're doing good. Just thinking about them makes me drool a little bit! The Spicy Spinach Dip with all of its Spiciness and Spinachy Cheesy Goodness. Large Bowl, plenty to share with friends if you must.. Served with Corn Tortillas. Their Rotisserie Chicken is to die for, melt in your mouth delicious! The Ribs are finger licking good and pack a lot of meat onto the bone. The chicken tenders are battered perfectly and fried to the exact golden brown that they need to be. The Mexican Chicken is topped with black beans, jack and cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, green onions and sour cream, served over their oh so JUMMMMMMMYYYY rice. Let's not stop at the main dishes as they are the star of the show, but have some of the best side kicks I have ever known. Their "sides" menu is extensive and any item that you choose is fresh and delicious. Some of my favorites include, in no particular order as they are all amazing, the black beans and rice, Broccoli/Cauliflower Cheese Casserole, Cinnamon Apples, Creamed Spinach, Macaroni & Cheese, Black Eyed Peas and the Sweet Potato Souffle. I've driven by Roasters so many times over the years but had never thought to stop in till the other day when I didn't want to cook and wanted something good to pick up that wasn't pizza or Chinese. I have been a few times now, but only for takeout. You can get 1 whole rotisserie chicken, 2 side pints, and rolls/cornbread for only $16.99. That is a really good deal and the food is really good. The rotisseries chicken is really good and better than one you could pick up at a grocery store. The meat is very juicy and seasoned well. As for the sides I really like the creamed spinach, green beans, and cinnamon apples. The rolls and cornbread are good too and they give you plenty of each when you take out. I'd recommend Roasters if you are looking for a good option for take out for a home cooked meal. I will definitely be back here to pick up dinner and hope to dine in soon. read more

Southern cooking with a gay twist. What more could you want?? If you go at dinner, go early. Roasters is popular and it will be crowded. If you go at lunch, well, go early then as well!! The atmosphere is very laid back (casual). If you hit the place at the right time, you can get in and out within an hour OR go with friends and stay a while. Either way, it is a great place to go. Almost every time I go, I end up with a vegetable plate. I can't help it! The veggies are to die for!! The amount of 4 & 5 star reviews for this place absolutely blows my mind. Given my history with Yelp, it's clear this review is not some sort of vendetta or retaliation for anything...plain & simple: this place is terrible. We have ventured to many BBQ joints since moving to Atlanta (see previous reviews) & we have had our fair share of thoughts/suggestions. For the most part, places like Community Q & Fox Brothers set the standard for BBQ in Atlanta. Some may say "you get what you pay for," but the prices at Roasters are so similar to other BBQ restaurants, that they do not have any excuse for the poor quality of BBQ that they are serving. The first bad sign is the corny logo for this place (cartoon chicken) & the hokey menus (that are also incredibly dirty) when you sit down. Overall, the place feels a little dirty, but good food can always make that irrelevant; at Roasters, this was not the case. To summarize the food: -Fried Green Tomatoes: frozen / Turnip Greens: canned...they weren't horrible but anyone can throw a frozen tomato into a fryer or open a can of turnip greens. -Mac & Cheese: processed/packaged...awful, zero flavor w/ mushy noddles; I'd rather make/eat Kraft from a box... -Chicken: the only reasonable protein w/ decent BBQ sauce (but more than likely not homemade)... (saving the worst for last) -Beef Brisket: while I'm no Iron Chef, I do know that beef brisket ANYWHERE, but especially the South, should be slow roasted, juicy & pulled apart for some southern goodness!!...at Roasters, this grey, pre-cut culinary nightmare was dry, tasteless & topped with dried parsley!!!; I understand the dried parsley at an Italian restaurant or on some shrimp scampi but on BBQ!??...we asked for a "fresh" plate after this first disaster & the server brought out the same garbage...consistent execution is always king but definitely not when it's dreadful. 3.5 stars I stopped in Roasters for lunch today and i thought everything was pretty good. It was a bit more southern than I had anticipated. I had the chicken finger platter with mashed potatoes and corn. The corn bread they brought to the table was sweet and fluffy. The corn and mashed tater sides were OK - corn tasted like canned corn and taters weren't too tasty. The chicken fingers were very good. Not the best I've ever had (either Guthrie's or Up The Creek), but the best I've had in a while. Chicken was very tender and moist. My friends and I have eaten at this location for years and it's consistently tasty with friendly service. Their namesake chicken is probably the safest bet on the menu, but I'm also partial to their ribs. Great sides, too. One warning for anyone bringing a group: You will need your entire party assembled and ready to sit and eat before they will give you a table. I actually appreciate this, because I hate having to wait for a table when someone else comes in and asks for a six top while half their people are still driving across Midtown to get there. Bonus for me: While there is turn-over in staff like all restaurants, I love that there are enough people here who've been there so long that they remember your face, your name, and sometimes even your order when you sit in their section. Roasters is comfort food and its great that you can eat healthy or not and its always consistent. That goes for the service as well - friendly, quick and responsive. Southern food done well. It isn't a shabby hole-in-the-wall like you normally find southern home-cookin' in, but it is just as good (or better!). Outstanding southern joint! In Buckhead, yet unpretentious. Everything seems real there! Food was great! I decided to try something I would not typically order there: mahi mahi! They had it as a special and it was terrific blackened! My recommendation: do not spoil it, bypass the tartar sauce! Corn muffin served with countryrock butter is a winner!!! I had mashed potatoes and broccoli and cauliflower casserole that was to die for. One of the best I have ever had! The rice was average. I love the large listing of sides offerings. Staff: Server Joshua was very polite, friendly and knows the menu well. You can feel that everyone works very well there and the managers were visible and supportive. Food runner was energetic and enthusiastic and asked to know if there were additional condiments needed. This is the difference between service pros! And average runner would just drop the plates and rush out from the table. Summer on the patio was also very pleasant. This is one of the rare restaurants I have noticed where the staff busboys actually sanitize children's highchairs before and after each use. I have seen that done at numerous occasions. This is one of my favorite places ever. I've been going to Roaster's for years and have never had a bad meal. The food is always the right temperature, the right flavor and always in good portion. Sometimes the baked potatoes are bit hard, but that's no big deal as I don't order that much. My favorite is their chicken and rice soup. It used to be offered only in the summer and now it is a part of their menu all of the time. Life doesn't get any better when you have that soup in your life. Wow! I've been in Atlanta (due to a job relocation) barely 24 hours, and I've already found a great BBQ restaurant! Parking was easy to find around dinner time on a Saturday. There were two of us, and, even though it looked like most of the restaurant was full of diners, we were quickly seated. Christina was our server, and she is so friendly and helpful, especially after I explained that this was our first time here, and that it was our first full day in Atlanta (and Georgia). I asked Christina for suggestions, and she told me that the fried green tomatoes with the spicy ranch dipping sauce, and the broccoli and cheese casserole were good sides, then left to take care of other diners while I decided on what I wanted to eat. When Christina came back, I had made up my mind on a combo meal, and wanted the BBQ ribs, but couldn't decide whether I wanted the pulled chicken meat or the BBQ brisket. I asked Christina which one she would choose, and, without hesitation, said, "Brisket!" Christina's suggestions resulted in a fantastic meal! Everything was so delicious! The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, with a smokey, slightly sweet BBQ flavor. The brisket was also tender and moist, with just the right amount of BBQ sauce covering the small pile of medium sliced meat. The broccoli was cooked enough so that it wasn't crunchy, but also not over cooked to the point of becoming a soft mush. The cheesy sauce added to the flavor. Appearance-wise, it looked like too much cheese was on the broccoli, but, flavor-wise, the cheese didn't over power the dish. The fried green tomatoes were firm, round slices coated with spices, with small cup of reddish colored spicy ranch sauce on the side. I couldn't finish the meal because I was so full, and ended up taking about half of the brisket home. Oh, and rolls and cornbread came with this meal. I thought the price was a fantastic deal, considering the amount of food dished out! Throughout the meal, Christina was so attentive, asking us how the food was, and if we needed anything else, and refilled my glasses of water and ice tea. Having been craving some good ole fried chicken and ribs, my friend and I arrived on a late weekday afternoon all excited and hungry to eat our faces off. I ordered the ribs & meatloaf combo with fried okra and mashed potatoes while my friend got the country fried chicken with mac&cheese and sweet potato casserole. Wow, my mouth is watering just by thinking about all that food. Ribs were tender with perfect amount of bbq sauce and my sides were both very delicious. The okra were perfectly fried and mashed potatoes were amazing! My friend loved her chicken, specially because it wasn't as greasy as the other fried chickens we've had at other places. The chicken also came with mashed potato instead of gravy which was interesting. I would say the price range is cheaper compared to other southern food restaurants in Atlanta. This is a warning to all that order a whole chicken: DON'T. Unless they can guarantee you an uncut whole chicken, they will serve you 4 quartered pieces that do not amount to a whole chicken. We have been ripped off twice. Once out of ignorance, and the second time I asked for an uncut chicken. They conveniently didn't have any, but we were hungry and didn't care at that point. However, if I was rating my in restaurant experience, I would have given 3 stars. I next to always order the veggie plate. There aren't many places in this area that have a huge veggie selection so I'm a very frequent repeat customer when I'm craving veggies. The veggies aren't life changing, but they are very good and I'm always satisfied with the quality. I'm usually not satisfied with the service I receive when I eat in the restaurant. I just feel like it's an overall slow experience, I always have to ask for the check and sometimes wonder why our food is taking so long. When I arrived I was somewhat greeted by the hostess who assumed for whatever reason that I was meeting somebody else there and just pointed to the back. I wasn't in much of a BBQ mood and I probably should've done the research on YELP before accepting my invite here. But the food was kind of bland I ordered this BBQ WRAP and mac n cheese as a side. the wrap had lettuce in it that appeared wilted as well as the mac n cheese tasted like it may have been out of the box. I've been meaning to try this place out for awhile, and I wish I had done so sooner. While it didn't blow me away, it was a very solid experience, and I'll be back. First, the rolls and cornbread they bring out are SO SO good. Both of them. Phenomenal. We also had pretty exceptional service from out waiter. Really surprisingly good, plus at least one manager checked in. I was in the mood for chicken fingers, so I figured I'd try em. They were pretty good, but I won't order them again. I liked the batter, which was particularly crunchy, and they were really moist. I wasn't crazy about the honey mustard and barbecue sauce they came with. I think I would have liked the whole dish more if those sauces were better. My sister got the country fried steak, which was pretty awesome. It didn't come with enough gravy on it, but our server happily brought us more on request. One cool thing about Roasters is all the sides/vegetables you have to choose from. The fried okra, mashed potatoes, and green beans were all really good. Mac and cheese was just okay. Broccoli/cauliflower/cheese casserole was outstanding. It can be a pain the ass to describe every item on the menu or every dish you ordered. So I'll talk about the chicken and BBQ, they seem to be well known for their chicken and BBQ. The sauce is sweet and a little sour, no wow factor. If there was any aroma or smokiness to the BBQ and chicken I had with it. It was covered up by the sauce. Chicken thigh/leg was quite dry, considering it was dark meat and kind of dry...that's truly disappointing. It's a casual eating spot that inviting with average service. Roasters is right down south of the Lenox Mall, tucked away at your right (if you are driving south on Lenox) in a mini-mall. I don't recall if the place has a sign or not, but if there isn't, then what you have to do is to watch for a mini-mall on your right and a condo-community at your left. It's the only mini-mall on Lenox between Buford Highway in the south and Marta station to the north, so you can't miss it. It's a nice little place, the atmosphere is great and the service is good. The food is tasty, with very *excellent* cornbread. For a casual-diner that aspires to serve a slightly different take on southern-cooking, it did well. read more

LOVE this place! So reasonable and delicious!! Unlike many other Atlanta restaurants, there was no real hipster feel to it which was nice for a change. Just a good ol soul food restaurant.
