Fantastic healthy build your own bowl place in Summerhill. The food, ambience and staff are all 5 stars 5 star food: Game Plan bowl is a pre-selected quinoa bowl with acorn squash chunks, green beans and a siracha sauce. It was amazingly good, and I confess I'm gonna try to steal the recipe and make this at home. LOL 5 star service: the open kitchen has a bunch of very friendly folks. My Apple Pay was acting up on checkout and they were sweet and helpful 5 star ambience: outside it's a very cool strip of Georgia Avenue in the Summerhill section. They have outdoor seating at picnic tables to take in the neighborhood vibe, but it was a little cold out so sat inside. Inside there's a sleek warehouse-y vibe.

Maepole was just okay. There were no flavors in my bowl begging me to go back for more. Their sauce was good and I like their healthy ingredients. It was very quick to order. Overall it's okay but nothing to write home about.

Unfortunately I have to be honest here: this one of most dull meals I've had all 2025. As someone who is constantly on the move, I appreciate the grab-and-go style of eateries, or as the kids say " corporate slop bowls". I was in the area when I realized I had this place on my list of restaurants to try. I ordered a bowl with the sweet potato which I think was the "base", braised beef, mac and cheese, and roasted potatoes. Immediately noticed how my order was unappealing to look at. The orange and brown-ness of it all was the only cohesion the dish had. These flavors did not meld well like a Chipotle or Cava bowl would. In fact, this entire meal lacked flavor entirely. I was pretty surprised that an eatery in the south could serve food that lacked any punch. The braised beef lacked any personality (and salt) which was the main protein. I think the mac and cheese might be the real offender here. It must be a vegan rendition or perhaps it's made with wheat pasta and some sort of alternative cheese, but it's nothing like I've had before, ever. I did enjoy the drink, I believe it was something with ginger, but sadly it wasn't sealed tightly and half spilled into the bag.

Tried the Box Car on my first visit. Pork, sweet mashed potatoes, green beans and macnchesse. Awesome. I would order again and get the sauce on the side. So many other options to try. I want to try the summer salad next. Looks refreshing and healthy.

Yum!! I was looking for a gluten-free restaurant to meet a friend in Summerhill and decided to check out Maepole. There's parking in Summerhill either on the street or in various free lots, just may have a circle a little. Inside, Maepole is super cute and clean and the boards walk you through how to order, kind of a like a Chipotle- or bowl-style restuarant. I decided to get the super greens and the herbed quinoa as my base, a seasonal kale/sweet potato mix and mac n cheese as my sides, and then chicken for my protein. I topped it off with the lemon herb vinaigrette dressing. The staff was helpful and we appreciated the staff member who filled us up on sauce!! We dined in at one of the tables and this was so delicious!! I loved the tangy freshness of the vinagrette. The sweet potatoes were roasted great and the mac n cheese tasted homemade with cheesy goodness. Overall, great concept and would definitely come back.

What a great addition to the Summerhill neighborhood. I've been wanting to try Maepole for the longest time since I frequent Summerhill for the other food options there. Decided to give Maepole a shot and ordered for take out. The online ordering was easy breezy. I opted for the build your own bowl with half brown rice and half greens, carrot salad and broccoli as my sides with shredded pork and topped with ranch. Within 10 minutes of ordering, it was ready for pick up. Even pick up was easy breezy! It was a good-sized portion and reasonable for the price in my opinion. The brown rice was slightly undercooked, but that was fine. It had a healthy serving of pork and sides. It was very tasty and would be frequenting this place now that I've tried it. I love that you can locate the nutrition facts on their website and caters mostly to those with food restrictions.

I started with an Old Fashioned and my wife got a glass of Pinot Noir. We both enjoyed our drinks. I ordered the Fried Calamari to start. They were perfectly fried and the marinara had great flavor and was an excellent compliment to the calamari. At our server's recommendation I ordered the Georgia Fried Chicken and I was supe happy with it. The chicken was excellently cooked and the hot honey (really more honey than hot) was a great addition. The Brussels sprouts were outstanding! The Asian inspired flavor made the dish. The Mac and cheese was good, but I like a lot more solid cheese rather than cheese sauce, which this one had. My wife was very satisfied with the Bistro Steak Sandwich. She loved the bread the sandwich came in. The one bite of steak I had was good, but I could have used a touch more salt. She thought it was seasoned perfectly. We had a window seat and had a nice and peaceful view of the adjacent wooded area.

I requested a table by the window--glad I did, as they don't have many booths here, and the noise level in the restaurant was quite high, so being over against a window helped. Service was good--professional, friendly, and not rushed. Bourbon meatball appetizer was amazing. My husband loved his grouper sandwich; I got the trout and it was fine but nothing special. Deducting one star for the cocktails--my Manhattan was pretty weak. Nice selection of wines, however.

It came with a cornbread, a buttery biscuit, and banana pudding. I was pleasantly surprised by the other items since the ordering site only listed the entree. Best Shrimp & Grits I've had to date. The shrimp was fresh and not overcooked or rubbery. The grits were smooth. The gravy was well seasoned, but not overly salty or rich. The cornbread and bread or biscuit was good, but not extraordinary. Those were quite dense and heavy paired with the other food. I loved the banana pudding. This meal jumpstarted my banana pudding hyper fixation. Very fragrant and not too thick yet still nice and creamy. It wasn't overly sweet or heavy either. It was a good dessert to round out the meal. I hope to come here again and have an actual sit down experience. Curious to see the ambiance!

The food itself was excellent. The menu is basically set, so you'd hope they do it well, and they do! Bread was great, salad solid, fries were the best I've ever had, and steak rich and delicious. I was a bit surprised to see that they were pretty empty inside (6:30pm on a Saturday seems like prime time), but the ambiance was pleasant, nonetheless. Our server was knowledgeable and walked us through the wine list -- I always appreciate when they don't just recommend the most expensive bottles. We ended up ordering a Sazerac and Corpse Reviver, but wished we had ordered wine. The drinks were both pretty warm, and it may be the first time ever that we've left cocktails unfinished. The bread and salad came out, and both were delicious. Our server did warn us that the cheese on the salad was not pasteurized, which seemed like a strange choice for a restaurant, but oh well. For such a simple salad, it was excellent. The bread and butter were great, too, but the olive oil tasted a bit rancid to me. Soon after we finished the bread and salad, our steak frites were served. I am normally a filet girl, through and through, but the NY Strip was so tender and flavorful that I forgot I wasn't eating a filet. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare, and despite the other reviews, the serving was plenty -- 7-8oz each. The fries were so good that I couldn't quit eating them, long after I was full. The garlic aioli and béarnaise sauce were delicious, as well. Definitely worth the $49/person! I found it a bit frustrating that the restroom was downstairs in their sister restaurant, Little Sparrow, but it wasn't really an issue. Overall, good food, good service, great ambiance, but the cocktails could use some work. Will probably return, but it's not at the top of my list.
