    Shishito Peppers

Came here for Father's Day late lunch at 3pm. We walked in and got a table straight away. We ordered some apps like the shishito peppers, calamari and chicken gyoza. All were crispy and fresh. We ordered the bento box for the kids which was a great portion and good mix of items. Also ordered the miso cod which came with rice. It was lightly flavored and I would've liked more of the sauce. The sushi and sashimi was fresh and tasty. We also ordered fresh wasabi which was delish. Service was great. We had a lovely experience.

We enjoyed the tasting menu . It was great . Presention was beautiful! First time there but will definitely be back ... I think the tuna on crispy rice was my favorite! Service was great.

One of my favorite sushi spots in Irvine! The rolls at Robata Wasa are absolutely delicious -- fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Honestly, some of the best rolls I've ever tried! Every bite was amazing, and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. The atmosphere is nice, the service is great, and the whole experience was wonderful. Definitely a must-try if you love sushi!

We came here on a weeknight to celebrate a birthday, and it did not disappoint. So glad we found this spot! Our favorite was the tuna crispy rice -- absolutely delicious. The tuna was finely minced and well seasoned, and the rice had the perfect thickness and crunch. We've had crispy rice that was too thin and practically jaw-breaking, but this one was just right. Since our family loves sashimi and sushi, we ordered a wide variety. The standouts for us were the salmon belly sashimi, salmon belly sushi, and the sea urchin -- all fresh and satisfying. We also ordered the mentaiko and shrimp cream pasta to honor the birthday "longevity noodles" tradition, which made the celebration feel extra special. Our server was friendly and attentive, and she gave a great recommendation. The gindara saikyo miso was good -- we've had better elsewhere -- but it definitely wasn't a deal breaker. Overall, we were very happy with our experience and would gladly come back again.

Superb Japanese restaurant that is set in a modern, elevated dining space. The quality of the food is great and very delicious. They have a large menu filled with classic sushi, sashimi, rolls, and other entrees. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This was the first time I have ever seen double sided chopsticks, which were very interesting and helpful.

Came in for sushi on a Tuesday for date night, and we both agreed we found our new spot! We ordered the Baked Salmon Roll and the Spicy Yellowtail Tataki, and both were an easy 10/10. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. We sat at the bar, and our bartender, Raul, took excellent care of us. The food, drinks, and service were all outstanding. We can't wait to come back!

Still a solid spot! Crispy Tuna Rice is a crowd pleaser and I feel like I could just eat order after order of this. The texture of the rice is crispy, crunchy, delightful and packed with flavor. Definitely a crowd pleaser of an appetizer! The RW Sushi Platter has nice presentation, and provides a good variety of fish, so it's a nice way to sample Robata Wasa's nigiri offerings if you don't want to order a la carte. Tiff was our waitress and she was very helpful, friendly, and took great care of our table. Ambiance is casual enough for every day, but still feels upscale and a nice place to celebrate special occasions too. We had two birthdays in our group and Tiff made it special with some mochi desserts! Thank you!

Upscale Japanese restaurant at Irvine Spectrum! The Beef Don was super flavorful, lots of beef, borderline too much rice, and healthy greens on top! Service was nice, checking in on us often!

A hidden gem inside Irvine Spectrum for affordable yet upscale Japanese cuisine! Everything was super fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Among the appetizers & entrees, the real standouts were the salmon skin taco and the mentaiko & shrimp pasta. The taco was crispy, savory, and so addictive -- the guac inside added a nice kick. The pasta was rich, creamy, comforting, & not too heavy. With its modern low-lit ambiance, Robata Wasa is the perfect spot for date night or dinner with friends!

Good spot for a quick bite. Service was friendly and helpful. Michael gave excellent recommendations and I enjoyed everything we ordered. Scallop crudo - refreshing and nice touch of citrus Albacore tataki - delicious. The crispy onions added a nice texture and sweetness to balance the sauce Chirashi bowl- great deal for the price. The sashimi was fresh and huge portions. Consisted of tuna, salmon, snapper, yellowtail, octopus, ikura, and uni Crispy lobster roll - lightly tempura lobster on top of California roll and tempura flakes

The salmon and truffle carpaccio is INSANE. Absolutely loved it. Plus the curry was delightful and had SO MUCH food, great for the price!

    Mentaiko & Shrimp Pasta
    Kyna S.

The food here was amazing -- full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Shareable: Albacore Tataki with cilantro sauce (chef's choice) -- fresh, tender, and a must-try. Special Rolls: Hokkaido Roll (chef's choice) -- if you like shrimp and eel, this one's rich, savory, and delicious. Entrée: Mentaiko & Shrimp Pasta -- creamy, flavorful sauce with juicy shrimp. I really liked the twist of squid ink -- it added depth and a subtle brininess that made it stand out. Service: 5/5 -- friendly and attentive. Ambience: 5/5 -- interesting and inviting interior.

    Cindy T.

We got the surf & turf roll, karaage chicken, spicy tuna crispy roll and the miso butter cod. Everything was so good but omg the cod was delicious. I would literally come back just for that! The Mango ease and ube colada drinks were also yummy. Our server Kaho was also friendly and nice. Great experience overall.

I ordered their most popular dish, the A1 set, but honestly, it didn't really live up to the hype for me. The broth tasted pretty underseasoned overall. From what I understood, you're supposed to mix all the toppings into the soup with the noodles, but even after doing that, I still felt like the flavor was lacking. Yes, they provide seasoning on the side, but personally, I wish the broth already had enough flavor on its own without needing to adjust it myself. Would I come back? Probably not. Nothing really stood out to me enough to return, and it felt more like a one-time experience. Overall, everything was just okay.

Well, this sucks...and only partially because this place ended up closing just when I finally…read morefinished writing my review. While I never thought Capital Noodle Bar was the best noodle joint that you could find in/around Irvine, this place was always so tasty and convenient! Even though they weren't our favorite place, the times we stopped by Capital Noodle Bar was usually on our way to/from the airport for a quick bite. Not only was the restaurant large (snagging a table was never an issue), but our food (typically) came out relatively quick. In addition, their menu was stocked with so many delicious options. It felt a little more Malaysian than Chinese to me, but, regardless, their collection of appetizers, dim sum items, congee, noodle soups, stir fried noodles, entrees, fried rice, and rice plates was so enticing, we couldn't help but come back to try more and more! -- HOT SAUCE TRAY I know it's kind of weird to mention this, but I love their dish of hot sauces. In particular, their jalapenos and chili oil go well with everything we've had here. -- CRISPY TOFU This may not have looked quite like what I had expected, but this was pretty good! The tofu was pillowy soft and piping hot while the outside of it was surprisingly crispy, given how it's not really battered. -- WONTON NOODLE SOUP - Pork & Shrimp Wonton, Egg Noodles We got this as part of their weekday special ($12 all-day, dine-in only), so I'm not sure if the portion size is any different. Either way, this was great. The wonton skins were a little thin, but each piece was plump and juicy, the noodles had a nice bite, and the broth was solid. -- CHAR KWAY TEOW - Shrimp, Chinese Sausage, Bean Sprouts, Egg, and Large Rice Noodles I've been on a bit of a kick ordering this whenever I see it and this was one of the better ones. The noodles were cooked really well (very bouncy), the dish had a slight kick yet it wasn't overly salty/seasoned, and the dish wasn't overloaded with beansprouts. -- SPICY GARLIC CALAMARI Ehh...this wasn't "bad", but it was definitely underwhelming. Although these were seasoned well and had a nice crispiness, the calamari itself was chewy and reminded me of the generic type you get at most other Chinese restaurants. -- TRIO OF BEEF NOODLE SOUP - Sliced Tenderloin, Beef Ball, Beef Stew (Beef Shank, Tripe, Tendon, Carrot), and Egg Noodles I was super hopeful for this one, but it turned out to be just okay. For me, the ingredients tasted fine, but the portion seemed a little light on the beef shank and the broth needed a bit more body to it (felt a little thin). -- CRISPY HAINAN CHICKEN - Deep Fried Dark Meat, Pickled Vegetables, Ginger Rice, Soy Sauce, Ginger, and Chili Sauce Not very traditional, but no less delicious. Boneless Hainan Chicken is appealing enough, but fried, too? While I wish there had been more of it, each piece was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The ginger rice was quite tasty as well! -- WAGYU BEEF POSTICKERS Pretty standard, though, not necessarily in a bad way. Although there wasn't much of a browned bottom/crust on these, I love how big and plump these were and how the filling had a nice, beefy flavor to it. -- HONG KONG STYLE CHOW FUN WITH CHICKEN, Seasonal Greens, Carrot, Mushroom, Egg, Gravy Sauce, and Large Rice Noodles This was just okay for me. The dish had a good ratio of vegetables and meats to noodles, but the gravy didn't do much for me - there was so much of it, it felt more distracting than additive. -- MANGO GREEN TEA Surprisingly, this wasn't nearly as sweet as I feared it would be. The mango flavor in this wasn't super intense and went well with the green tea. Along with how satisfying most of Capital's dishes have been, the other thing that I liked about this place was the staff. Every time we came here, the workers were always friendly and really attentive, even despite how they usually only had one server working. That being said, it has never been all that busy either, which might help explain why their closure. As genuinely bummed as I am to learn that this place has closed, it should be said that it's not like Capital Noodle Bar is gone forever. If you missed your chance to try them, or just want to eat here again, they have another location in Costa Mesa that's still open and just a short drive away. And, as it turns out, it's even closer to the airport, so our pseudo-ritual of stopping off can continue to live on. Thanks for the memories, Irvine Capital Noodle Bar!

The batter was wonderfully light, and I really enjoyed the distinct peppery punch it had. Overall, everything we tried was hit. It's a solid, clean spot with great execution on classic flavors. I would totally come back here again whenever I'm looking for a quick bite!
