Burrito is a traditional Mexican food where you have a big roll with meat, lettuce, salsa, sour cream, bean, and guacamole in it. So that was what I thought. I ordered 2 dishes for my husband, one was the burrito and the other one was 2 choices plate so he has different things to try. I was disappointed when I came home and saw what he was eating. The 2 dishes looked almost the same (bean, rice, and meat plate). The "burrito" didn't have lettuce, or even sour cream. If I had want 2 plates, I would have ordered the same thing. They shouldn't call something like that burrito if it doesn't look anything like one because it's falsely advertise. I won't order here again since I don't know what I will get. read more

Food: So far, I've tried their burrito and their quesadilla. Both have been quite tasty, but a bit on the smaller side compared to other Mexican restaurants. This place does have very good margaritas though (House Margarita and Habanero Margarita). Ambiance: The employees here are friendly, helpful, and nice. They check on you to make sure everything is alright just the right amount. If you're starving, this place may not be the best unless you're okay with ordering multiple dishes. It is good for hangouts with friends, watching sports, or dates (unless you're looking for somewhere quiet and romantic). I do plan to keep coming here :). read more

I was underwhelmed with the food and service. The chips and salsa were average, the pollo xojoqui I had was ok but I never liked boiled chicken that much. The rice is good and beans, well just beans. I had to fetch my own water and wait 15 minutes for my check while the staff scrambled around. I had to ask eventually as I was otherwise ignored. Came here for Cinco de Mayo and had a great time! Their margaritas were really tasty and strong, the food was solid and the salsas were delicious. The service could have been a little bit more attentive and helpful since they were unable to answer questions like "which margarita would you get" or "what do you like on the menu" but they are pretty new, so it could just be that they are still figuring things out. Two of my friends who came with me didn't feel particularly well after eating here, so I'm not sure if it was due to the food, drinks etc. but I wanted to note it in case someone else has a similar experience. Overall, I was happy with my time and money spent here. I got the quesadilla and enchilada combo and it was delicious. Their green salsa was also to die for and I wish I had eaten more of it. Came here for dinner because downtown Sunnyvale is the place to be! (Plus I was in the area). The service was slow and halfhearted. It took a while to order, a while to get our food, and a really long while to get the check. I got the nachos with black beans, half chicken and half carne asada. The margaritas are excellent! I ordered one of Roberto's house specialties (I can't remember the name you guys, my bad) with chicken which was super flavorful and moist. My man ordered this spicy shrimp dish which was just amazing if you like spicy food. It reminded me of a dish I've had a cuban restaurant with the habaneros. I will definitely go again. Ended up walking in here by chance- but was pleasantly surprised. My friend and I came in on a Sunday afternoon, and were immediately seated. Ambiance: The restaurant had the feel of a perfect summery place to eat- large windows letting in sunlight, high tables, outdoor seating, and a wooden finish. Service: The service was extremely prompt- not sure if this was because it was maybe half full or if that's the regular deal, but I was very pleased by the kind waiters and the swift service. Food: The food was a bit on the pricey end- all the shrimp dishes were $17+ (for lunch!) and ended up paying ~$12 for a fish enchilada and taco plate, both of which were good but not jaw-drop amazing. Chips are freshly fried and crunchy... but the salsa........ sooooo tasty. The red one is very smoky--most likely they pureed in smoked chiles. And the green one isn't your typical green liquid... it definitely has chunks and textures, probably some avocado in there. Definitely far far far better than your average chips at a restaurant! So frickin' good I finished up both containers right away, and asked for more... they obliged and brought out bowls 3x larger than what they originally gave me, ha ha.... awesome! 9/10 1. Rajitas Poblanas $15 "choice of chicken, beef or shrimp in a morita creamy sauce, onions and strips of roasted chile pasilla": And WOW. So last time I get Mole, and it was utter failure. This Poblanas though... holy f'ing cow.... so PACKED with flavor. Super ultra smokey, creamy, and so luxurious. Spices all over. And also impressive--the beef was still tender and juicy. Typically with stewed beef it could easily end up like sandpaper, but they were able to keep it more like steak than boiled meat. (Possibly they didn't actually stew it with the sauce?) STAY AWAY!!!!! A complete INSULT TO MEXICAN CUISINE!! How in the hell does this restaurant have 4 stars it should have negative 4 stars. The Chile Relleno is a complete a utter JOKE!!! How is that a Chile Relleno an opened canned Chile with a sprinkle of cheese and red slop sauce on top? WOW I am completely speechless!!! No presentation what so ever so in any of the dishes, frozen veggies in the rice, chips are served in a plastic bowl. I did not know how they stay in business!!! Just super unimpressed. This is the Bay Area, full of delicious Mexican. The location of this place is good, and the outdoor seating is good, but everything else is meh. Burritos are $12 and the cheapest entree on the menu. Everything else is $15-20. Everything we had was pretty Americanized. Nothing was that flavorful or delicious, even though some of us were nicely inebriated. The tequila dishes were particular sore spots. Somehow even with cheese on top they still made a mediocre burrito. Service took forever. Even the queso wasn't very large even though it was tasty. The best you can do is get chili verde with a side of habanero sauce. Be careful, it's SPICY. This is the sort of place I'd expect in like, Main Street Indianapolis, not the bay. My coworker and I were searching for a place to have lunch a few days ago and came across Roberto's Cantina. We were enticed by the chips and salsa we saw at someone's table outside so we stopped in. Restaurant only had a few patrons there and we were seated promptly. We decided to share the Birria meal as we were not super hungry. The beef in the birria was super tender and flavorful. Came in with 8 others on a Tuesday night. They were quite busy already but were very accommodating with our large group (we didn't wait longer than 10-15 minutes). Service was okay, even though we were seated at the front of the restaurant - had to flag down the waiters to get waters filled a few times. The food though? Not worth the price...Most entree options are $17-25, with the exception of the burrito ($12) or the combination plates ($11 one item /$14 two items). I ordered the carnitas burrito and was pretty excited when the waiter confirmed it was a wet burrito (with enchilada sauce on it). Unfortunately, I received a very dry burrito (with just a thin layer of sauce covering the top) and what was literally a tortilla filled with dry carnitas. There wasn't anything else in the burrito...just the meat. While this might have been okay if the meat were tastier, I had a hard time eating most of my burrito. The carnitas was dry, the rice and beans on the side didn't add much flavor, and even drowning all those ingredients with the free salsa that came with the chips didn't help much.
