Went to Robert scratch kitchen and had a good meal. That was about the only thing we liked. What else is there you may ask. Well for one, wait staff didn't seem trained very well but that's a different complaint. Also for a seemingly higher end restaurant no one was in uniform. We were with another couple and with tip dropped $240 in a BYOB place. Ok, we knew it was pricey going in, but the clincher was as soon as we paid the bill they told us they needed the table and we would have to leave. I don't know, am I being overly sensitive? $240 and we can't sit around and talk awhile? It just rubbed me the wrong way. I won't be back. Not sure when this restaurant opened but have now been there three times and it has been on point each and every occasion. Delicious food and atmosphere and byob. They have live music on Fridays (acoustic guitar) which makes the overall vibe that much more enticing. I will definitely return. read more

RSK is amazing! I have celiac and feel extremely safe coming here to eat! Robert (the owner) and Jose (the waiter) are friendly and accommodating! My fiancé and I have eaten here a bunch of times and the meals are always fresh tasting and delicious! We took friends to celebrate a birthday and for the prices charged I didn't expect to be rushed. Our reservation was for 5:30 pm. The meal I had at robert's was amazing. It is the best meal I have had at a restaurant in years. The wait staff was very helpful. Remember to bring your own bottle of wine. My only disappointment is that I could not bring the leftovers back for lunch the next day. I didn't have a fridge at the hotel. I will definitely go back again when I am back in town. read more

The atmosphere was nice and the dinning area is big enough that you don't feel cramped with the other diners. The apps (calamari, pasta side) were very good. Three ordered the sea bass, two pork chops, one cod special. My sea bass was slightly over cooked-but even stranger it was 1/2 the size of the other two who ordered. The others enjoyed their meals. The only issue was our service. We we had several bottles of wine, two being Chianti. Someone said they were looking forward to trying the Ruffino and the waiter jumps in and says it's "terrible" "we wasted our money" and "could have bought a better Chianti for $3". Later one of our party wanted to take his remaining pork chop home, the waiter was demanding he keep eating and take another bite. After 3 requests to just wrap it to go - only told to keep eating, someone jumped in impatiently and said he's not taking another bite. Fortunately we had a different server for dessert and she was great. You can have a 4 - 5 star experience with the food/atmosphere/different wait staff...unfortunately we didn't. read more

This was my first visit to Robert's Scratch Kitchen. It was a Wednesday at 11:45am after shopping at Bob's Store. I was the only customer at the time which makes sense but people did start coming in for lunch. I was presented with the specials menu from the tablet as yelpers had referred to. I ordered the Lobster Fra Diavolo. I had inquired if it was just lobster meat with no shell but Robert said that there was a shell and he quickly offered to have it prepared without it. I enthusiastically agreed to that arrangement. Robert was working as host, waiter and busboy for the Wednesday lunch crowd which is the only day he does all that according to a conversation with another diner. I enjoyed my bread and my meal while listening to a cover song of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time." The food was amazingly delicious and plentiful. Just returned from dinner at Robert's Scratch Kitchen. My first time there. Atmosphere was beautiful they had a musician playing which was a nice plus to an evening out . We were greeted as we entered and felt welcomed by Jose. Menus were provided and items explained. Specials were presented on an iPad. Bread was brought to the table which was not your ordinary bread . They were soft rolls and delicious. We ordered the octopus salad cooked to perfection, the sea bass over escarole and beans and the spicy but awesome lobster fra Diablo. Nice size portions and presentation. Service was excellent. My only complaint was the coconut cake which is an item noted on other reviews as a must to order. Here I was truly disappointed. I love coconut however the cake part had a tres leche flavor and the frosting which housed most of the coconut had a stale taste. When mentioned to Jose instead of saying thank you I note this and mentioned to the chef I was told everyone has different tastes and 5 guests had the cake and loved it. He seemed annoyed I shared my opinion on a restaurant acclaimed item to order. His response added to the bad taste in my mouth. I am not sure which restaurant some of the reviewers went to, but this was awful. The special salad had NO taste at all. Sour strawberries, sour mango and no dressing to add flavor. The lettuce was somewhat fresh, but needed some sort of dressing. The bronzino was a decent dish. Not worth going back for. The pork chop was huge, however it was lacking in flavor. I dealt with a RUDE owner, I mean, what is that about? I was cordial and nice when I called just to ask a few questions before deciding to make the trip to dine there with a friend BUT no, instead I was surprisingly met with an annoyed guy on the other end, he who did that "rush and brush off the phone" with an attitude seeming like I was bothering him?! Hello? AND that was within 30 seconds of my call, where I first confirmed it was the owner, Robert, who had answered the call around 5pm, which is NOT even a busy time yet for serving dinner, well, unless he serves senior citizen "early bird specials" which I doubt. Here's some FYI for you Sir- Being even "half" nice to a stranger on the phone, even when you're not in the mood and maybe even a little busy, IT really goes a much longer way than you cared to think about. So, all based on that 30 second interaction, and I'm sure that he doesn't even care, but I'd rather spend my money elsewhere and never go there, ever. I'd much rather support someone who's nice and cordial in return, no matter what their circumstance. Anyone calling there could be a potential new customer. I'll just stick with exploring other places over in Little Falls and nearby to spend my money with business owners who I've met and were way nicer just by default. Now onto the food... went with my two sisters making our experience fun and allowed us to try several dinners by sharing each dish. To start we enjoyed the oysters on the half, sausage stuffed mushrooms, shrimp over polenta as well as a homemade stuffed pasta with pear and cheese, dried cherries and walnuts mixed in a sage sauce as an additional appetizer. For dinner we shared the Halibut special, pork chop with long hots and potatoes. Homemade desserts were decadent, pumpkin cheese cake, coconut cake and cannolis.....Everything was cooked to perfection. This is a BYOB restaurant, which I prefer. Gluten free friendly!!
