We live on the cape and have obviously have our favorite restaurants. Heard of Rock Harbor and with being too hot to cook let's give it a try. With just 2 of us we were surprised to get a table right away Let me start with service all around was excellent. My wife ordered the special salad for the evening with salmon. Her dinner was outstanding. I ordered the basic cod on the menu, the best to describe it was, terrible. A bland piece of cod set on a bed of watery mixed vegetables that I am sure were of the pre-frozen type. A few pieces of lobster and lobster ravioli that were nothing special. The ravioli was also swimming in the water. I guess in retrospect it's best to stick just to the specials. Based on last night we probably won't go back. read more

Rock Harbor Grill is my favorite restaurant on the Cape, and one that my husband and I truly frequent every night of our stays up there. The food is fresh and delicious, the staff is amazing, the overall vibe is welcoming and friendly, and the cocktails are incredible. We usually choose to sit at the bar when we hit RHG, though be advised that if the bar is full, you do need to put your name on the bar wait list to be seated (why don't more places do this?), so there's no need to hawk for seats, as you'll be called once seating is available. During the summer, you can grab a drink and head outside to sit by the firepits or around the property, which is a great way to pass the time, especially because this place gets packed (and for good reason). The service at the bar is amazing, and Lauren's cocktails are seriously the best I have ever had. The cocktail menu is always changing, and there's always a cocktail of the day that's unique and fresh. I'm usually a wine drinker and don't drink a lot of cocktails, but RHG is my exception because every cocktail is amazing. Service when you're seated in the dining room is always excellent and incredibly attentive, especially considering the huge crowds and full tables in the restaurant. Truly A+ service all around, and the friendliest staff I've ever encountered in a dining experience. The food at RHG is truly delicious - the menu for food changes seasonally as well, and there's always a pizza and salad special as well as numerous, varied specials during dinner. I've never had a bad meal here, or anything even mediocre/just "good." The only bummer I have is when I can't finish something (possibly due to multiple cocktails, but I'm not about to give that up). Because the menu changes so often and there are so many awesome specials it's hard to list specials, but really, everything is so good and also so fresh. Following the RHG Instagram account also offers first looks at the specials and preparations of it all, which is an added plus (and you can see just how fresh everything is too!). Worth noting too, is that no matter how healthy I'm trying to be, I will always make room and exceptions to any dietary restrictions for the pretzel bread. It is absolutely incredible and not to be missed! RHG will continue to be a mainstay with all our trips to the Cape - the service, food, amazing cocktails, and positive energy makes it an absolute must visit at any time during the year. read more

I can't remember what we ordered except for the wild mushroom pizza and the Don Draper drink. That wild mushroom pizza is so flavorful and just right. The Don Draper drink was so good and just right as well. I need to learn how to make that drink at home for parties. Friendly staff. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Clean bathrooms. Well the night did not start off good, because as soon as I parked, another patron parked right next to me and opened their door straight into my car. Left a dent and walked away without a care in the world, and I had to chase him down. Obviously not the restaraunt's fault, but be aware of the tight parking here. In our group of 6, none of us were thrilled with what we ate. The ambiance was decent. Mostly an older crowd. One person in our group had the seafood paella, one of the more expensive options on the menu, however it was mostly rice with barely any seafood. I tried some type of barbecue chicken sliders which came with sweet potato fries (however I don't see this on the menu online now? So can't name it exactly). The fries were good, but the chicken was absolutely disgusting. I couldn't eat it and I love a good slider. Won't be coming back. read more

Kind of tucked away in a corner behind a fish market. But people know it's there unless you get there when the doors open you are waiting . Plenty of gluten free options including their brick oven pizza which is fantastic with or without gluten. They cook a mean burger and their pretzel bread with the spread is fantastic. Everyone we bring there always wants to go back. They try real hard at a great atmosphere for the space I think they pull it off. Also I saw the manager or it could of been the owner, he does it all and anything that needs to be done on several occasions. Got love a person who is not afraid to do anything he wouldn't ask his help to do. Parking is plentiful in the lot or a lower lot and a huge public lot across the street. We waited for about 30 minutes on a weekend to get two seats at the bar. It was worth the wait. We had two excellent espresso martinis, shared a wood fire pizza and an appetizer. The bartender was attentive and smiling even when busy. It gets kinda loud in there sometimes but it isn't bad. We always love the vibe, the drinks and the service. --I never caught the bartenders name but the martinis were excellent and I highly recommend them. We go here often during the off season as they have a really nice back patio that's perfect for the cooler weather. Highly recommend for everyone. read more

My in-laws are regulars here and I'm always happy to tag along. They have a surprisingly diverse menu, plus they change their list of specials often which keeps things interesting. For example, last night we had: Crispy Fried Pickles & Peppers Wood Fired Chicken Wings Porcini Dusted Pan Seared Cod Tuscan Kale w/ Cod Season Salad (Kale w/ Bok Choy and Peanuts) w/ Chicken Thai Veggie Stir-Fry w/ Chicken Prosciutto Wood Fired Pizza Not a single complaint at the table! The cod in particular was fresh and perfectly cooked. I have to say that the pizza was one of the best I've had since returning from Italy, just delicious! Also, the complimentary pretzel bread and butter is amazing, wouldn't be surprised if most people asked for extra. The service is lovely too. We enjoyed dinner here with our young adult children and our dog on the patio. The highlights were the Mediterranean and chorizo pizzas. We also enjoyed the citrus glazed salmon and the salad with pears, glazed walnuts and blue cheese. The vegetable pepper bucatini was our least favorite. We also enjoyed the warm pretzels with honey mustard butter served at the beginning of the meal. A really nice touch. Our server was warm, friendly and fast on her feet. Every staff person we interacted with was welcoming and helpful. As mentioned, we had our dog with us. He is used to joining us outside at restaurants and will stay under the table next to us as long as he is getting frequent pats and occasional treats. This would not be a great restaurant for a larger dog or for a dog who is not used to being in public. There were lots of kids around and lots of joyful noise and activity. This is easily a five star restaurant and the food and drinks are always on point. Let me start off with I've been here twice now and my parents are frequent flyers. One of my moms favorite restaurants because they do such an amazing job with gluten free. The pretzel bread and honey mustard butter is to die for so make sure you get that! They also have gluten free rolls now. I started with a white sangria which was fresh, lights and made extremely well. I got the wings and street corn for my dinner and the wings were delicious. A little different from your typical sauce covered wings but very good. The street corn was messy but delicious and had a fun take on it. My mom swears by the wild mushroom pizza as being one of the best pizzas she has ever had and for someone who isn't the biggest fan of mushrooms and tried it, it was pretty darn good. Now... the reason Rock Harbor is getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because of our waitress. She was amazing, friendly and on top of everything but my mom asked her a question about the butter and she answered so respectfully but the second she walked away I saw/heard her talking about the question my mom asked her. I understand everyone needs to let off some steam but maybe be a little more private about it or don't do it because your job is to wait and serve people. Bar tenders are very friendly and quick to serve. I came in on a Monday evening and there was a 45 minute wait for a table of 4. Walked up to the bar which didn't have an open seat. Bar tender immediately greeted me and took my order. Being a former bar tender I can appreciate this, especially when busy. We tried calling multiple times but the line was busy so since it was only a 5 minutes away we drove there and placed a order for three pizzas to go and provide our number to call when ready since they were very busy. We never got a call so I went in to check and it was just sitting in the patrons waiting area. We ordered a cheese, pepperoni and a wild mushroom which all three were very delicious. The crust was really outstanding. I usually don't eat the crust but theirs was outstanding. Would definitely recommend them. read more

I read reviews and was excited to experience this place. I ordered the seafood chowder and it was bland. Ordered wings for my wife and and they were bland, charred, and dry, there was some weird sautéed onion chutney on top of the wings that I didn't know what to make of either. Ordered the chili and it was over spiced, in the wrong way! On the plus side my wife enjoyed the kale salad. I'd like to assume I simply ordered the wrong things off the menu because I don't understand the reviews. This place is mediocre at best. read more

Good food and good drinks for sure. I was in town on New Years and we made reservations ahead of time. Everyone at our table ordered something different so I was able to see a bit of the offerings, not disappointed! I saw shepherds pie on the menu and I just had to order that as it's been one of my favorite comfort foods since I was young. It was served in a cast Iron crock and was not short on flavor. This is a staple every time we are at the Cape. There is a ton of variety to appease any eater. The pretzel sticks are a great way to start your meal paired with your favorite cocktail or drink. Their pulled pork nachos are a great appetizer. They are generously smothered and covered in cheese. The chefs salad is an ample size with all of the fixings. The grilled chicken wrap is a must if you're looking for a hand held. While I haven't tried the pizza, they all looked outstanding coming out of the wood fire pizza oven. We enjoyed the salads, seafood and the second night we ordered their wood fired pizzas (pizzas seem to take extra time given high demand and limited oven capacity). There is usually a long wait, but they have an outdoor patio where you can enjoy their cocktails. My husband loved one drink called Death & Taxes.
