I cannot say enough good things about Rocket Plumbing. I have had them come out to my house on a number of occasions and they are always fast and courteous. When I called them recently I got their voicemail but did not leave a message since I was not sure where I would be when they called back. Within two minutes I got a call from them saying they were sorry to have missed my call. They always call the day before to confirm the appointment and the plumber always call to say he is on his way. They have always arrived within the first hour of the two hour window they give me. They are also honest and do not suggest repairs or work that are not necessary. On their latest call, they determined the problem was just sediment buildup in the pipe; they tapped on the pipe with a wrench and got it flowing. They were in and out in 10 minutes. Since I am clueless on plumbing they could have told me I needed a whole new faucet or pipe and I would have not known the difference. Rocket came out for an estimate for a sink install with garbage disposal. I was quoted a price over the phone and when they arrived I got an estimate for 3 times the cost. I understand that things change when they arrive on site but wow. They are on time and have a great phone receptionist but their pricing is crazy. I had them come out a year ago to look at my washing machine connection and they wanted to charge me $150 to hook up a hose I was able to do in 2 min. Their pricing is something I just cant justify for no matter how prompt and professional you are. Best of luck. read more

Outstanding customer service. Moen called me when he was on his way and arrived to my house before me, since I was rushing home from work. I had a small leak in my kitchen sink and I called them to fix it before the problem got worse. Not sure of what the average price of plumbing is since it's the first home I've owned, but he have me a quote and I agreed to it. I promise you, I went to fold a few pieces of laundry and by the time I came back he was done! He took no more than a half hour, explained the process to me, the parts he put on my sink and why it was leaking. I was kind of sad that I was $3 away from getting the $50 off, but it was worth my money and sanity. I have had so many good experiences with rocket. We have a 130 year old house and everything becomes a whole thing. So we had a toilet backup that wound up morphing into and unplanned replacement of our sewer main. Nick and Matt basically moved into the house with us. Working tirelessly for 10 days, with at least 6 12-hour days in there. I actually lost count. They replaced our sewer main and also replaced much of our lead and galvanized pipes in the basement. They works hard to help us keep down costs and communicated well without throughout the whole process. They were even wonderful my inquisitive five year old. I have to say, when he job was done, I was a little sad to say good bye to them. They had kind of become part of our family. I should also say that I have also had Danny out on a few occasions for other problems we have had with our house. He is also really great and knowledgeable. read more

They were fast (available the same day) and on time however I thought it was very expensive. They wouldn't give me a quote for replacing my kitchen faucet over the phone and if they come out to give quote they charge a $25 travel fee (which goes towards cost of repairs). At that point i had them go ahead and do the job but I found them very expensive. They charged me $225 (gave me a $25 discount when I seemed shocked at the original $250 quote) to change my kitchen faucet (I supplied the new faucet). He was done in 40 minutes. I should have hired a handyman and saved $150. read more

I have used Rocket twice now. Always on time; knowledgeable about more than just the basics---they replaced a bad ejector pump for me last year w/ a 3 year warranty. The same pump had a "hiccup" about a year later--they came out same-day and fixed the problem and only charged me a $25 visit fee because it was such an easy fix. Great customer service. I work in property management and find many plumbers difficult to get ahold of and kind of sleasy some times....definitely not the case here. These guys rock! With this being the first winter in our new house we've had two occasions to call Rocket Plumbing for water emergencies. Thankfully they were there to help on extremely short notice. Call #1 (later Dec 2013): leaky outside faucet that we couldn't fix on our own (although we sure tried). After a lot of recon work we decided it was best to call in the professionals before the cold weather set in later that night. Tony came by and helped us get squared away with a dedicated shut-off valve inside the house to be used during the winter. Obviously this should have been done when they rehabbed the whole house 10 years ago, but now we had peace of mind that it's done right. Call #2 (early Jan 2014): like almost everyone else in the Chicago area the -40 wind temps did a number on us and burst the pipe leading to the OTHER outside faucet. Unfortunately it burst inside the wall of our lower floor and flooded 1/2 of that level. Called the guys at Rocket, they said they had a waiting list longer than you'd believe but since I was a repeat customer they would try to fit me in as they had a guy right in my neighborhood. A few hours later Marlon was at the door and basically did the same thing that was done for the other pipe; put a dedicated shut-off valve inside. Otherwise there was no way to turn off the water to that faucet without turning off the water to the whole house. On both occasions the gentlemen were very professional, courteous, detailed, and even explained why things happened and how it all should have been done right the first time. I can't say enough for how helpful Rocket was during both of our semi-emergencies; I'll definitely use them again if I have any more plumbing needs (fingers x-ed that this is it for a while though). I was doing a project for my folks since they were out of town. I was refreshing their main bathroom. Nothing hugely laborious. New faucet for the bathroom sink which I replaced myself successfully. I needed help with the shower/bath faucet replacement. The faucet was over 25 years old and was incredibly tight. I was afraid of breaking something by forcing too hard. My folks were returning the next afternoon. I asked for a quote on the phone but they wouldn't give me one. I was desperate so I let them come figuring it would be ok and I wanted to use a "neighborhood company." All I wanted was to replace the tub spout and handle (and the shower head neck if they could loosen it since I installed a hand shower.). The staff wouldn't even try to look at the faucet I had purchased to see that it was standard thread without replacing the other parts that exist behind the wall. Instead they charged me $437 to use their parts to swap out the spout, handle and shower head neck which included labor. I find this incredibly high. Don't get me wrong, the work was good and accomplished what I needed to but swapping out a faucet shouldn't cost close to $450. I purposely didn't have them go behind the wall. I just wanted the spout and handle replaced since they were leaking really bad from age. If you're in a rush at the last minute, they will get the job done but be prepared to shell out hard earned dough. I mentioned that I found them on Yelp but never got a discount. read more

I'm grateful for Rocket Plumbing! Today when my garbage disposal went out unexpectedly, I was not sure who too call to get it fixed. I hit yelp to find a top rated plumber when I found Rocket Plumbing. They answered on the second ring and within 2 hours they sent out Brian (the owner) and had a new disposal put in in less then 2 hours. Brian was very professional and he actually put a drop cloth down on my kitchen floor to protect my floors. I was very impressed with that. Brian also gave me a 2 year warranty on his labor and I though the overall cost for everything was very reasonable for same day service. I wish I could give them a better review because they seemed nice, but after taking a day off work for them to come and see what I needed repaired and following up with them for THREE MONTHS to get a written estimate and being consistently ignored, I can't. I wanted to go with them because they gave great reviews and they were very professional and nice, but they simply refused to return my calls and provide me with a written estimate. They told me several times they were "working on it" and still never came through. I don't have time for this and don't think I should have to babysit them so I had to move on and get other quotes. UPDATE: upon posting my review the owner of the business got in touch with me and almost immediately provided me with a written estimate. He also followed up with me twice and was extremely polite and professional. I gave them two more stars because he obviously cares a ton about his business and customer satisfaction. I was impressed. EDIT: Wanted to come back on this review and upgrade the one-star rating due to the follow-up. Owner called immediately after I posted my original review and promised to fix the problem, citing that the plumber who did my work was new. He had a different guy come out by 8am the next morning with a new pump (the right kind -- an ejector pump). It turns we had rocks in the bottom of our pit (not typical, and we didn't know because we've recently bought the house). The new plumber drained the pit, emptied the rocks and made sure we were good to go. While the follow-up was great, I was still originally charged for the (higher-quality) ejector pump when only a sump pump was installed, and paid $100 for a $10 plastic cover. I would have liked if the owner had detailed invoicing with actual pricing on parts, plus labor, plus overhead -- I understand businesses need to make money -- and had properly trained his new staff. If those things had been done well (and the previous tech had checked the pit more thoroughly), another visit wouldn't have been necessary. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rocket Plumbing completely ripped us off -- and didn't even manage to fix our sump pump. When our sump pump failed just before Christmas and our basement had water, the service that dried our floor recommended Rocket Plumbing to us. The plumber showed up and replaced it. We were told we needed an ejector pump since the washing machine drained into the pit, meaning it would be more expensive than the normal one. The special pump we needed? A Flotec E75VLT, which we were charged $667.00 for. He also installed a plastic cover for the pit at a charge of $105.00. Not two weeks later, our new pump failed again. We looked up the prices of the pump and pit cover and were shocked at how much they had been marked up by Rocket. At Home Depot, the pump costs $207.00. The plastic cover costs ~$20. Even adding in the cost of labor, we felt ripped off -- which, unfortunately, was confirmed by a plumbing friend of ours. So, we called Rocket to schedule an emergency visit so they could correct their mistake, but we got a recording that said they were backed up for two days due to high demand. (Maybe we weren't the only ones with this type of experience.) Here we are with a still-broken sump pump (that we paid nearly $900 for) and a basement that will flood unless we have a professional come out ASAP. If you're considering Rocket Plumbing, save yourself a headache and a lot of money by looking elsewhere. read more

I was given their number by another person in my condo building. I am very glad they did because not only did I get my toilet fixed but I also got more information than expecting about the workings of pipes, drains and psi levels. My building recently had a "newly installed water booster pump", they DID NOT call Rocket Plumbing and for that I am very sorry. If they had called Rocket I know for a fact that our building would not have had or having the problems that most of us are experiencing. It would of saved many of us the headache that the new pump has caused. My first "present" as a new homeowner occurred a few weeks ago. As I was taking a much needed shower, the hot water heater in my condo suddenly stopped working! She even gave me call to confirm when he was about 30 minutes away, which I really appreciated. Tony and his helper came out and told me that my 8 year old heater needed to be replaced. When our sump pump failed and flooding occurred, I called Rocket at 7AM and was told that their dispatch opened at 8AM but that they'd still help and get a plumber out to our place ASAP. They said that one of their guys, Marlon, would be coming from another appointment around 10:30. Marlon called me at 10:15 to let me know that he was en route and that he may be a few minutes late. When he arrived, he assessed the situation quickly, explained to me what he thought was wrong and asked to prove to me that we needed a new pump before I signed to purchase a new one. After agreeing that I needed a new pump, Marlon went into detail about all the costs, warranties, labor details so that I knew exactly what I was signing for before work began. During the work (removal of old pump, install of new and cleaning), Marlon was extremely professional and friendly. I found Rocket Plumbing on yelp last week when my I discovered that my kitchen drain was blocked up. Not knowing where to turn I hit yelp to see if I could find a plumber with good reviews. I saw Rocket Plumbing listed on top of the page so I gave them a call to see if they could help. The owner (Brian) answered the phone on the first ring and he was a very friendly guy. I told him of my drain problem and he quickly diagnosed the issue and sent a plumber out to my house. The plumber got to my door about 2 hours later, and once he got to my place he got straight to work. He was very knowledgeable and he did a very professional job. He unclogged my kitchen sink in less than an hour. He even offered to help clean up after he was done and I really appreciated that. The price seemed reasonable for the work he did and he offered me a $47 off discount for the job. I can't begin to thank Joseph enough for all the great work he did today! Our water heater decided to go on strike sometime last night and my husband and I were grumpily forced into cold showers this morning. We did try some of our own research and trouble shooting to no avail and gave up an hour later. The first plumber we called couldn't be bothered to pick up the phone, so we next tried Rocket. They answered immediately and said they could have someone out that afternoon. Joseph absolutely saved us and was a pure delight to have in my home. Called up Rocket on a Monday trying to get a ballpark quote on a new ejector pump since the one in my newly purchased house decided to stop working (don't get me started on how I found out that it was broken). Anyhow, got a call back within 20 minutes with a round number and I continued to shop around. Called another well known Yelp plumber who decided not to follow through and book an appoint; called Rocket back on Wednesday and made an appointment for Friday at 4 pm. Someone in my house left work early for the 4 pm appointment and was home most of the day. At 2:30 the plumber calls and says he had a cancellation and can come early. The woman I live with who is related to me by marriage calls back within 10 minutes but is told the office sent him to another job instead of coming to perform our service early. No problem right? At 4:30 nobody has arrived and we call the office. They apologize profusely saying they dropped the ball on this one and will make it up to us with a slight discount. Annoying but mistakes happen and we really appreciated the honesty. Setup the new appointment for 7 am the next morning. I'll amend this review later to give props to the actual plumber who can to do the work, but in short he was great. Professional, honest ... took the time to explain what had broke and how he was going to fix it. Gave us new home owners some lessons about a vital piece of equipment in our place. He was in and out within 75 minutes and was really down to earth. I know he's new with Rocket and I would advise ownership to hang onto him because he's an asset to the company. I hope to not having any plumbing emergencies in my future, but if I do or I want to perform some upgrades, Rocket will be at the top of my list to call for a quote. read more

I was replacing a ceiling fan in my kitchen and discovered a live gas line in my ceiling (a holdover from gas lamps; my house was built in 1913). Jake and Tyler were able to come out a few days after the estimate, disconnect the gaslight lines, reroute the good lines, and vacuum the gas out of the old ones - all done quickly, and at a decent price. I had some issues with (I thought) a sump pump. Rocket Plumbing employee Tony comes out and claims it's a bad check valve and ejector pump after looking at it for 5 minutes. How is the ejector pump bad when you don't even look at it? Anyways, I had to get approval from my land lord so I told him I'd call and schedule a time to do the work the next day. He said, no problem, we can do that and leaves. Well, Rocket Plumbing claims on their web site "We actually pick up when you call!". That's a lie. I called later that same day and left a voice mail to confirm the time since they DIDN'T pick up. Day turns into night and no return call. The following day I take off work as I needed to get this fixed. I called as soon as I woke up. Guess what? No answer. Guess what else? They never returned my second voice mail. Needless to say I called a different plumber (The Plumbing Doctor) who came over and did great work. I signed up for Yelp just to write this bad review because other's need to know how they do (and don't do) business. read more

Shortly thereafter I get a call back and voice message from their receptionist letting me know that if I needed a service to call her back and they would get something scheduled right away if it was an urgent issue. Awesome plumbing service! We have used Rocket Plumbing twice and both experiences have been excellent. Marlon was our first plumber who helped us with fixing a wobbly toilet. He was able to fix the problem that was created by the developer of our condo. He explained exactly what the issue was. Our second experience was just this weekend. Our disposal was "broken" and we called Friday night to schedule an appointment. We were able to get a time slot of Saturday. Ben showed up early and was able to inspect the problem. As it turns out, the disposal was just jammed and he was able to fix it no problem. We appreciate his honesty--we would have easily bought a new disposal and had it replaced otherwise. Thank you! He not only identified the problem quickly, but he clearly explained to me what the problem was, identified a separate part that was also in pretty bad shape, and fixed both issues in an extremely efficient manner. Let me start by saying that I had a slow leak under my kitchen sink and contacted a different plumber that was referred to me through an acquaintance. That guy came four or five times and never was able to resolve the issue (he did not charge me for the repeat visits, but frustrating that he could not pinpoint and resolve the issue... that is his job!). Then I looked on Yelp and contacted Rocket Plumbing based on the stellar reviews. Byron arrived and was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. From the time he entered he was courteous, put his shoe protectors (bootys) on so as not to track in dirt, and identified the two areas causing a leak under my sink WITHIN 1 MINUTE! He said that he's been doing this work for 30 years and you could tell. The fix required a new kitchen faucet, which I went out and purchased as agreed and Byron arrived right on time the next day to install it. He installed the faucet and even took the time to look at and switch out my shower head (I did not alert him to this issue beforehand) which had lost significant pressure over the years. I told Byron I found Rocket Plumbing on Yelp and before I could mention the $49 discount coupon he informed me himself of the coupon. Leak is gone, I can take a shower with decent water pressure now and all is well. I highly recommend Rocket Plumbing to get the job done right and in a professional and courteous manner. read more

I needed a plumber after a washing machine installer told us that we had a corroded cold water valve that could not be turned off. After trying to fix it myself, I realized we'd need a plumber. Ben was able to get the valve turning again and did a quick job for the price of the service call and also quoted prices for replacing the valve, and, in a worst case scenario, a price for replacing the entire hot and cold water panel. He came out once to replace our busted water heater and not long after, we needed him to come out again and fix our clogged bathroom sink and our low water pressure in the kitchen and bathroom. Ben is great, not an annoying sales guy, doesn't make up stuff that is wrong with your plumbing. He comes in and gets the job done and doesn't make you feel weird about having him in your house. My toilet had been running constantly for a month, uggh! I finally jumped on Yelp, found Rocket plumbing and scheduled an appointment to have them come out the next day (a Saturday @ 4PM). Brian called to let me know he was on his way and showed up promptly. One look at the toilet and we needed a replacement flapper. Brian said that he could get it, but would have to return on Monday, so I offered to run to Home Depot while he went and took care of his next appointment. Then he came back and installed and fixed the problem in less than 10 minutes. $100 for the house call (he gave me a $25 discount for running to Depot for him) and I am SO happy my toilet is as quiet as a mouse. I will definitely call Rocket Plumbing again. They are good guys who communicate and quickly solve the problem at a reasonable price. Call them and get it fixed!!!! read more
