The appetizers today were 1/2 off. Except, for the crab cakes and oysters. Go figure, those are the ones worth a dang to order. The majority of the appetizers are greasy. This includes the bombs and the jalapeño hush puppies. Ugh. We ordered the three cheese spinach and artichoke dip. They substituted cream cheese into the mix. Shameful. Again, another cheap way out. Used to love their fish tacos, now it's just scraps of thin pieces of fish tails put into a taco. Especially disappointing when buying for others to treat them when they go through a stressful time or are working on your home and trying to show your appreciation. Ordered it to go and asked for a couple of extra sauce, came home and there was no sauce, since I bought it for others I went back to pick the sauce up, still no extra and barely any to cover the orders I bought. My wife and I went tonight and it was really good. Service was fast, friendly, and attentive. We love the chalkboard specials hanging around the restaurant and open concept kitchen. My wife had the campfire grilled shrimp and she really liked it, she got a full sized grill roasted corn on the cob and she said tasted great even with us at the end of the corn season. Careful... specials are really deceptive and deceiving! For example the crawfish special they have for Thursday has a picture of a couple of ears of corn. Special does not include corn even though it is pictured. Also, if you need to order gluten-free do not order from the gluten-free menu because they jack up the prices on those menu items. Only reason this place will get two stars is the fact that the food was really good, but the service was some of the worst I've ever had. First we tried sitting outside, but we didn't see anybody for 10 mins. So we got up and went inside and only saw our server maybe twice. We were never brought out water or asked how we were doing at any point during our meal. Rockfish, in McKinney was a big disappointment. We used to visit this seafood restaurant for many years , always going back at least for family birthday dinners. Last Sun, Sept 4th, , was such a birthday dinner. When we arrived we were surprised we did not have to wait for a table, but i thought nothing about it. 1 The hostess made faces when i asked to switch our seating to another empty booth, i did not like the booth close to the bar, a sink and the cash registers close by, to the initial booth. I insisted so we got moved. 2 The appetizers were ok except fried calamari, with the scarce calamari and surplus of oily breading. 3 The entrees were a disappointment. The fish did not strike me as fresh and flavorful. My redfish was thin and really way overcooked dried out and very salty. My sides were ok. My wife's snapper was thick but not flavorful and very salty. The sautéed spinach was oozing of oil or butter. They must have changed the chef for sure. 4 My daughter mentioned the restroom was horrible with bunch of dead crickets all over the floor and urine overflow. We also observed the menu is diminished from what we remembered Our server Chris was good and tried his best. Needless to say, we skipped deserts and left disappointed that one of our preferred spots deteriorated, so it is off my list. For good seafood , i can recommend Urban Seafood /Plano and City Grille and Fish /Richardson , Pappadeaux /wherever, where i left with a more positive aftertaste. read more

Update: We had a very bad experience last week. I emailed the manager a heads up that the service here needs help. Even though I didn't ask for anything, the GM Clarissa promptly contacted me and offered to treat the entire family to dinner, which we just enjoyed. She even came in to make sure we were taken care of. The food was great and the service even better. Will definitely continue to dine here thanks to the gesture and management's desire to improve. I'm super impressed with the freshness of the fish. I got the coconut crusted mahi mahi with orzo and spinach and it was freaking delicious.
