It's a fun place. Everyone should go here at least once a month.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We always have a fun time here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's loud so you don't have to worry about being quiet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is good... The servers are always fun. Taytum is a great server... you seriously should pay this lady more. We would come back here just to sit at her table.

Time for an update. I no longer routinely update. If an establishment has significantly declined,I'll update. If it has held consistently for a long period of time,I'll update. The McKinney location has maintained a high level of quality for 5-6 years . Routinely if I don't cook my own steak at home,Texas Roadhouse is first on my list. Tonight I needed easy and craved steak. Took the path of least resistance and headed for Texas Roadhouse McKinney. I'm gonna stream of consciousness now so hold on; [[HIGHLIGHT]]Excellent family place. I counted more than a handful of tables with grandparents, kids and grandkids talking their heads off and having fun[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loud atmosphere is contagious if you drop your guard and relax.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everything on the menu is sent out cooked right. Service, service, service, always cheerful, impeccable Rolls,oh man did I mention the complementary rolls? Comfortable Priced right Delicious The dot on my exclamation mark is this. I ordered different this time. Going with the small but thick cut strip steak. It was perfect in size and maybe one of the best steaks I've ever eaten at any price. Add mashed potatoes and a side salad all for $19.99! Wow! Go!

First time here and honestly a really good diner style experience with above average food and large portions! Walking in there is usually a line, but you can join the waitlist online. They gave us fresh, hot rolls but delicious cinnamon salted butter that was super good (and iconic!), and you can order seconds as much as you want! For food, we ordered the Blooming Onion appetizer, got the 20 oz Ribeye, Full rack of Pork Ribs, chicken fried steak, with sides of loaded baked potato, seasoned rice, green beans, and buttered corn. The Blooming Onion appetizer was pretty good, HUGE with a good crust and pretty good spicy mayo dipping sauce that you can get extras of. Recommend to share this as it's a large size! The 20 oz ribeye was cooked to medium quite well, seasoned well, and was overall a good steak especially for the price point! Same for the pork ribs, they were pretty tender and had a nice smokiness to them. The chicken fried steak was also good, nothing particularly stood out but it was pretty good. For sides, the loaded baked potato was standard but quite salty, especially the bacon. However, the seasoned rice was quite flavorful and paired well with the heavy meat. The same goes for the buttered corn, where the sweet corn and rich butter went well together. The green beans were okay, pretty standard. Overall for the price, size, and above average quality for a diner, really enjoyed my experience here! Service is fast and the waiters nail the quick and attentive service! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is a bit busy but nicer casual diner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will return!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff were super friendly and the restaurant was fairly clean and organized.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I absolutely loved the rolls and cinnamon butter. The hamburger steak was probably the most disappointing, it was just like a ground beef mashup which was not what I was expecting. The cactus blossom was delicious but a little salty. Everything else like the steak was delicious and well cooked!

Came here last night for dinner and mostly had a fantastic experience! I ordered the Barbecue Chicken with a Baked Potato and a house salad, and everything was spot on. The chicken was tender and flavorful, the potato was perfectly cooked, and the salad was fresh. And let's talk about those rolls! Seriously, Texas Roadhouse's rolls with the cinnamon butter are crazy good. I could make a meal just out of those! Our server, Paulina, did an absolutely amazing job. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Give her a raise! My only real criticism, and it's a significant one for a place this popular, is their table wait system. It's really loud in there (which is part of the lively atmosphere, I get it), but we saw multiple instances of people missing their names being called for a table. Even more concerning, we witnessed a couple of situations where it looked like someone either knowingly or mistakenly took someone else's table. They need a better system to manage the flow and ensure people get their rightful spot. Despite the wait system hiccup, the food and service (thanks, Paulina!) were excellent, making for a very enjoyable evening. We'll definitely be back for those rolls alone!

So, we decided to take the family out to Texas Roadhouse for a little "let's leave the kitchen behind" kind of night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a Friday, and the place was bumping--like a concert, but with more napkins and less actual singing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were greeted by a friendly staff member who led us to our table toward the middle of the restaraunt. The food? Well, let's just say it was a bit of a mixed bag. My wife and daughter went for the ribs, and they were delicious. Apparently, these ribs had been kissed by the grill gods themselves. I heard my daughter say something like, "These ribs are life-changing," which, considering she's 18, I'm assuming means they were really good. They were tender, juicy, and everything you'd hope for in a rack of ribs. Now, as for my son and me--well, we both went with steaks. I ordered the rib-eye, thinking I'd be sinking my teeth into a thick, juicy cut of meat that would make me feel like a rugged cowboy. What I got was a rib-eye that was so thin it could've been used as a bookmark. I mean, I didn't expect it to be a flank steak in disguise, but it was pretty close. My son, being 15 and in that awkward "I'm growing but not quite sure where my appetite ends" phase, also ordered a steak. He made the same face I did when we saw how thin it was. "This is a steak, right?" he asked. I was like, "Yes, but it's a steak that's been on a diet." The flavor was fine, though--just not the meaty masterpiece we were hoping for. Still, I didn't let it ruin the night because, hey, the company was good, and the rolls... oh, the rolls--if you don't eat those warm drenched pieces of joy, you're doing it wrong. The staff? Super friendly. You could tell they were hustling with all the tables packed, and they still made time to smile and joke with us. They really deserve a medal for keeping things moving while ordered and ate our meals. So, in the end, it wasn't a perfect steak night, but the ribs were a win, the rolls were life (again), and the staff made everything more enjoyable. Maybe next time I'll ask them to skip the diet steak and go for something a little thicker. Or, I'll just get ribs too. Either way, I'm definitely going back for more of those rolls! Would I recommend it? Sure--just make sure to bring your appetite for rolls, not just steak.

I noted wheelchair accessible was not on list of features. Is it possible to bring someone who needs to use a walker into the restaurant? Thanks for your response.

It's certainly possible. Why wouldn't it be.

Do you have any specials for Father's Day now?

    Nope.

How to order rolls from takeout at Texas Roadhouse?

Click on the rolls in the menu items.

Are rolls included in curbside pickup orders?!

Yes, but you may need to "request" them. They will add the rolls. Loads of them when we ordered curbside pickup. Yummy!

Does Texas Road House in McKinney offer a military discount with an ID?

    Yes! 30% off one entree

Still, if we had not been getting carryout, it seemed like a pleasant place to sit down and eat, too. This is order at the counter service, and they were happy to explain things to this non-native. Everything was carefully packed to maintain temperature and avoid spills. I enjoyed the brisket with spicy sauce, though I have since heard some people really prefer the moist type, I think dry was right for me. I got a side of coleslaw so I could get my veggies in; it had a creamy yet not too heavy dressing. The stuffed potato was tasty, especially with all the recommended toppings, but it was the size of a small football! I had to put half of it in the fridge.

My favorite part of the whole experience was the sausage (how do you mess that up?) and the potato salad. I think I'm just finding that it's better to smoke your own meats at home. Half the price and 100x better. Service also wasn't the best. Lady at the register was dead inside. I could tell this was the last place she wanted to be today. Side note: waving your hand in the air to call my attention when I am not looking your direction is no way of letting a line of people know you are ready to take their order. "Next guest, please!" goes a long way. Possibly why she was so irritated when I finally got to the counter.

Here is the review with the burger worked in…read more --- I spent today at Brisket School at Vaqueros BBQ, and it was my Father's Day gift. The class was taught by the great Trey Sanchez. Let me start with the most important thing I can tell you. If you have never eaten at Vaqueros, you are missing out. Vaqueros and Hutchins are the two best BBQ joints in Collin County. But Vaqueros has a twist. Their barbecue is competition grade, and they also happen to run one of the Top 50 taco spots in the entire state. Do not take my word for it. Ask Texas Monthly. Want to know why the tacos are that good? It is the brisket. Trey uses every last ounce of it. The trimmings end up in the sausage, the burgers, the tacos, and the consomé de res. They go into the tallow too, and if you ever order the fries, you will understand. You will want more. His suadero tacos are something special, and that is just the beginning of the menu. Speaking of burgers, do not skip his. It is outstanding, and it is made with, if you guessed brisket, you would be right. So here is my advice. If you are thinking about wandering next door to Village Burger Bar, stop. Get a burger from Trey instead. His beef is ground fresh daily, and the pickles and the mustard are made in house. It is in a different league. Now the class itself. What Trey taught me about trimming a brisket, treating it like a steak, seasoning it, and wrapping it, those are lessons any wannabe pitmaster will cherish for life. And here is the part nobody warns you about. Trey is a phenomenal storyteller. He knows everyone in the Texas barbecue world, and his stories alone are worth the price of admission. Let us talk about the food. Do you love barbecue? Vaqueros has it. Brisket, ribs, turkey, and two kinds of sausage, and every one of them is excellent. The smoked pork carnitas are pure heaven. Looking for something a little different? Get the brisket nachos. They come loaded with chopped brisket, queso, beans, pico, and all the fixings. Fifteen dollars. You can feed a family of four with one order. They have beer, margaritas, and a bourbon lemonade that is genuinely fantastic. I will say it one more time. You are missing out if you have not been. Tell him Brian sent you.

Thankfully, there was plenty of shade from umbrellas, and it was a great spot for people-watching with lots of foot traffic passing by. Now for the important part--the BBQ. My son and I split the two-meat plate with brisket, pork ribs, mac and cheese, and beans. The brisket was legit--moist, flavorful, and with a nice bark, although I would have liked it a little crispier. The pork ribs were just okay; they were a bit on the dry side. That said, their BBQ sauce was excellent. I'm usually not one to sauce good ribs, but in this case it definitely elevated them. The mac and cheese was probably the biggest surprise. It was rich and gooey, topped with feta, chives, and shredded cheddar. Not a combination I would have expected--or ordered--but somehow it really worked. The only real disappointment was the beans. They arrived cold and were a bit bland, especially by Texas BBQ standards. Overall, it was a solid 4-star experience. The brisket alone is worth trying, and I'd definitely come back to work my way through more of the menu.

The food was good, if not the greatest BBQ I've ever had, but the overall experience was much fun. The restaurant is in the form of a large barn with ample seating and a walk-through line where you can pick out your meat and then any sides and drinks you'd like. I enjoyed having the "conundrum" of trying to figure out which of the meats to try as they stare at you from the smoker, all saying, "Pick me!" My first visit to any BBQ place is nearly always to try the pulled pork, figuring that if they can't get that right, nothing else is likely all that good. That's not always true, but since pulled pork is one of my favorites, it's a good approach anyway. :) I took my platter laden with an abundant amount of pulled pork and then selected corn on the cob, cole slaw, a slice of custard pie, and a sweet tea. After paying, I made my way into the main dining area and selected a high-top wooden table along the wall that was, shall we say, very awkward to sit at based on how the stationary stool was positioned in conjunction with the table, so I moved to a nearby regular table that was just fine. There's plenty of outdoor seating, but based on the temperature that day, I chose to stay inside. Digging in, I found the pulled pork to be good, but it was a little dry and salty. The standard house BBQ sauce was good, though, and the corn on the cob was very nice. The cole slaw was about what you'd expect, and the custard pie was tasty, even if it wasn't the best I'd ever had. The sweet tea was excellent. What I probably loved most, though, was eating all this in that environment, with the Texas-American paraphernalia hanging on the walls and a radio station playing nothing but 80s and 90s country music over the speakers--the years when I loved country the most. I wanted a BBQ experience as big as Texas while I was here, and I got that. For that reason, my visit to Hard Eight was a hit, and I will happily visit again on a future trip.
