Went there for dinner for the first time for my friend's birthday and had one of the worst customer services and it wasn't even busy.. Our server's name was Abby. When she first got to the table, she got our drinks and then right away asked if we were ready when we literally just sat down for a minute. We weren't sure how things worked there and if we had to ask for things but we did. We had to ask for the rice we ordered and limes with salt and pepper. We didn't even get a bib, but tables around us had bibs. We later asked for a water refill and she took our cup to "refill" it but never came back. So we went up there ourselves and asked for water, which the guy gave us one cup of. She didn't give us our bill, she didn't check on us if the food was good. She just took our order and dropped off food. That was the last we seen her. The one star I am giving this place is just for the food that was okay, but really sweet. Customer service just sucked here and I will not be coming back. I rather go all the way to San Jose to the boiling crab. read more

A+ place. Was in Davis, but planned to go to Berkeley for some shenanigans. Wanted to eat cajun food at the location in Oakland, as I'd been there before and I knew it was quality. Instead chose to come to this location, as I was on the way from Davis/Sacramento and it was along the way to Oakland. It was absolutely amazing! It took no time at all to get a table, unlike other cajun places where one would most likely be forced to wait quite a while for a spot to open up. My girlfriend and I got mussels, shrimp, and calamari. All were excellent. The calamari was a teensy bit salty for my tastes, but not enough to bring down the overall quality. Our waitress was very attentive, and would always check back in with us to see if we needed anything. Given the fact that there's a bunch of TV screens everywhere showing sports games and the place is super open, it is noisy in there. This can be a plus if you're a sports fan. It could also be a minus if you're looking for a more quiet cajun experience. Since I am a sports fan, I had no qualms with it. I also recommend getting a spot as close to the wall as possible, as the middle tables can be chilly with breeze coming in through the door. Would go here again! read more

Went here today and the staff is super friendly and attentive! The waiters were especially on point. If I remember their names correctly, Mary, Belle and Alex were amazing! This is one of my family's go to places when we're craving seafood! With their abundant array of shrimp, crab, mussels, crawfish (of course), and clams just to name a few of our favorites, you can't go wrong. The mild sauce is perfect for those that can't handle spice, but for your average heat seeker medium was a great place to get those taste buds Rockin'. Still one of my favorite places to eat. I get the rockin' combo shrimp, muscles, clams and you definitely cannot forget the sausages! The service was great! I happened upon this place by accident and BOY AM I ONE SATISFIED CUSTOMER! To name check another place, I have not had the deliciousness that is Rockin Crawfish since I was at Crawdad King's in Seattle's Chinatown. Omg! This food was INCREDIBLE! I had the dungeoness crab entree seasoned in butter and garlic, spicy. I was literally licking my entire hand to get that juicy goodness off of me. Recently came here for the first time with my Pops and we really liked it! It wasn't crowded at all when we were there so that was a relief. It has a super casual, divey feel with lots of TVs all around and very clean. There are writings all over the wall from guests who made their marks while dining. The server was friendly and the food came out hella fast. We had 1lb. shrimp (garlic butter sauce), 1/2lb. king crab legs (rockin' combo sauce), rice, corn and garlic noodles. This place is very similar to the Boiling Crab. If you've been to any place similar, than you know what to expect. Whether you're there just for the food and company or a place to watch a game, the atmosphere is usually loud. But when you go to a restaurant where you eat with your hands, don't expect anything but a good time. I am fan of their "Rockin Combo" sauce (mild or medium, depending on if I'm sharing or not) which is great with any of the seafood. I always get a pound of shrimp with a few sausages and corn. If you or your group is hungry, get an order of their waffle fries, fried zucchini or fried oysters. The garlic noodles are good too. The staff is friendly and always coming around to check if you need anything. In my opinion, this location is better than the Lake Merritt location because it's a bigger establishment, not as busy and has more parking. Definitely recommend! My first Seafood boil experience I had took place here at Rockin crawfish. & I instantly fell in love! It was my cousins bday so we all decided to have his dinner party here. The staff were really cool, service was on point all night. The food came out pretty quick for having such a big party. All the flavors really hit the spot. I can't say they are as good as other places I've tried but it is definitely up there. I ordered my stuff to the highest spicy level with their signature sauce but I felt like the heat levels were up as much as I thought it was. It felt like I had medium spice. Love this place! Came here on a Monday night with 3 of my girlfriends. We were greeted and seated in less than 5 minutes by the friendliest host who wasted no time in making sure we felt comfortable with our seats. He was very helpful with the menu and helped us order accordingly. I ordered the crawfish with volcano seasoning (their hottest) and it was soooo good and sooo spicy! The waiter warned me ahead of time of the heat level but i was in it to win it and thoroughly enjoyed the fire. Ambiance is very casual and the hip hop music playing in the background has you dancing in your seat which makes for a great experience as well! Oh yeah! TVs were playing football games, the music was rap and r&b, there's tagging on the walls on purpose. All and all though the meal and service were fine. I've been to a few of these creole seafood restaurants where they put it in a bag with marinades and spices. I thought I've experienced them all and they all became monotonous. But Rockin' Crawfish said to me "Nope. We will revitalize that genre for you sir." They sure did. For starters, I loved their selection of music. It's the type of music that I grew up with as a teen (not to say I'm old) and the restaurant is big / spacious enough where you won't have to wait 2+ hours like similar competitors. The peach tea is a great compliment to the seafood. My vote goes to their shrimp and king crab. The market price of king crab was reasonable by the way. Also there buffalo wing and waffle fries (medium spices) was good it has a good spices kick to it if you don't like spicy then regular are fine as well. Although my coworker did not care for anything they served during their grand opening, I still wanted to give them a try. After waiting eternity for some seafood gumbo; I was highly disappointed as it wasn't gumbo but more of okra and green bell pepper stew. I highly doubt this was done with a traditional roux...it was all of 1 scallop..2 shrimps and one piece of crab in this SEAFOOD gumbo! If I wanted rice that was extra. The food was soooo good. All of it! I'm really picky about my sweet potato fries and these were perfectly cooked. Garlic noodles, yum! And the sauce for the shrimp and crab.... Yaaassss!!! It wasn't hella oily or hella watery. Also, the king crab legs had a lot of meat and they give you scissors which makes it soooo much easier than using a cracker. Now on to the service.... I regret not taking the receipt home as I have forgotten our servers name. It is so rare for us to come across great service nowadays. Our server didn't rush us, he was very attentive without being pushy, and he was very genuine. He made sure to check up on us. He even asked my boyfriend if he had changed his mind and wanted something else to drink, as he had just ordered water. I've never had any server ask that before! My gf and I came in on a Sunday night around 8ish, surprisingly the place was still decently packed. We got seated fairly quickly and the server came VERY quickly just as soon as we sat down. We barley had time to even look at the menu before he said "do you need more time to look at the menu?" The menu is just like any Asian Cajun seafood place. They have your shrimp, crab legs, mussels, clams all lathered in a Cajun sauce to your liking. They also have oysters available as well as fried seafood to those who aren't very fond of the seafood topped with instant heartburn sauce. The first thing we ordered was beer, as they do have a decent selection, just for a small cup it runs for 5.25; I'm sure it's cheaper if you get domestic beer. The beer is basically the same price and size as the club...so you know it's overpriced. For the food we ordered the Cajun waffle fries at a medium spicy level, too bad medium is equivalent to very spicy at other Asian Cajun Seafood places. The fries were SPICY, but manageable and delicious. For the seafood, we ordered a pound of shrimp without the head, obviously so we can get more shrimp, and we got it a medium level, which was a huge mistake. This was a mistake because, knowing the fries were very spicy, then it will be for sure that the shrimp will be as well. Fortunately one of the servers kindly switch our medium spicy pound of shrimp for a mild spicy pound of shrimp. So if you enjoy spicy but still want to enjoy your food without having your tongue go numb, I recommend go mild. WARNING TO THOSE THAT DO NOT LIKE GARLIC..if you get the combo sauce it is loaded with garlic flavor. I enjoy garlic a lot so I loved the sauce. The sauce didn't make me feel disgusting as does boiling crab, it didn't feel greasy at all, and it wasn't as thick and chunky as rays crab shack which was also great. The shrimps were very plump and very fresh, so it was so delicious. I just had a bad taste in my mouth knowing that for a pound it was at 15.99, maybe we came on a expensive time because the market price varies but going to a lot of these types of restaurants the most I paid for a pound of shrimp was 12.99. For the service, it was hot and cold, although our server checked on us frequently, he forgot to provide us with napkins and bibs and was kind of awkward on top of that. He looked at our beers, which was the only thing we didn't finished on the table after we ate, and said "we don't have to go containers for that" like what okay? Overall the food was great better than most, and the service pretty good. The price of what we got was the only reason why I'm giving this place 3 stars. For a pound of shrimp, Cajun waffle fries, side of rice and 2 beers, we paid 37 dollars before tip. So if you come here, you will walk out with your stomach very happy and pleased, but your wallet may be hurting after. read more

I've been here twice... (I know, I know ‍‍but I was hungry). The food was terrible both times. As a lifelong "foodie", I give some places a second try for a few reasons: Name Recognition, meaning they have another in a different location (not a chain. *Less than 5 exist.) I've had a great food experience at another one. I've had some not so great experiences at the other but that's a different story altogether and I believe I've already told it. The recipe at both, tastes about the same but the first time I went to this Richmond location was during the pandemic so it was a "pick up only" experience. They had a short line of hungry patrons outside. Some ordering, some only picking up and no real clear way for us to discern which was which. The "line", looks more like a sprinkle of people gathering and there's even confusion on the faces because no one wants to be rude but they also don't know who's next. The food is ready quicker than they say but they also don't notify you when your order is ready. You give them your name (and everyone else) and they will tell you if it's ready (it has been ready and has been sitting on a counter for 10-15 minutes). The process does move somewhat quickly however. The crab is fresh from a pot of water and hasn't been drained or mixed in the roux long enough and literally has the flavor of plain water.
