I like the beef taquito plate. The thing Rod's needs to concentrate on is consistency and reasoning. In my humble opinion, needs a little more salt in the beans. The rice sometimes is so flavorful and tasty, at other times it just rice. I do love the fresh vegetables at the salsa bar. The service is always nice and friendly very hospitable. They have both a TV and a radio on. Sometimes you're interested in a show but you can't hear it. Sometimes the music is way too loud. It's a nice family place I feel safe there. I'm honestly lost for words on how bad their carne asada fries were. They tasted like they were defrosted because the fries were soggy and the bottom had too much liquid. I didn't bother finishing them due to how inedible they were. The service was fine, and the guy at the cashier was friendly. I came to Rod's before and never did a review. I came today because I was in the shopping center and did not wanna go far or anywhere else to get food. I saw Rod's tacos and I said hey let me just try here. I also saw that it was Tuesday. It was taco Tuesday and they have an insane deal for their taco special That was only $11.99!! You get so much food !! you get five tacos and it could be any meat choice you want and rice and beans and with the drink. The Customer Service was so exceptional that the lady at the cashier said that I can get keto friendly tacos, which is what I wanted and it's only a 50 Cent up charge. However, as I waited, I was able to get all my sauces at their salsa bar and my drink and I've noticed that it is very clean inside and spacious with many tables and seating. I did enjoy the ambience as I waited from my order to be made. The cook was really nice and very friendly. He had told me my order was ready and the lady had gave me my food, and everything was fresh and looked good presentation. The food was definitely good of course I couldn't finish it all, but I was happy that I could save some for later. This deal is insane and I recommend coming here for taco Tuesday and their other dishes. They have soups and many options to choose from on their menu. I used to come here frequently for their 3 enchilada plate when I lived down the street. Price was great, enchiladas were flavorful and the sweet young girl behind the counter was always nice. It's been a few years since I've been here and something has definitely changed for the worse. Rice was good but the beans were like water and the enchiladas have NO flavor now. When my plate arrived I immediately noticed the enchilada sauce wasn't the deep red like before, instead the sauce is bright orange. I think if anyone is more equipped to review this business it is I... I used to come here AT LEAST once a week sometimes twice. (Live around the corner). The prices are what got me through the door, but the food itself made me come back. Unfortunately, one day I had a really bad experience with the cook. My mom asked "what kind of chiles are used in their chiles reyenos" and the cook rudely shrugged his shoulder (mind you, he's sitting in a chair on his phone. The place is completely isolated) I asked again, and he says "I dont know, they're frozen, I just cook them." Funny thing is that after that, I stopped coming for about 2 months. One day I came in and the sweet girl greeted me and mentioned that she hadnt seen me around. I explained to her that THAT'S why and she said she remembered the situation well. I'm not sure if they changed chefs, but let me just say the food is DEFINITELY not the same. I ordered enchiladas de asada. The meat had ZERO seasoning (it didnt even have color) the tortillas were smothered in sour cream, and WORST- the sauce was chunky. I mean literally thick chunky (think slime) sauce. I pulled some up with fork, then rotated my fork and the chunky sauce was stuck on it. It really grossed me out. Needless to say, I will never be back. I'm so sorry, I used to LOVE this place. I introduced so many people to this place.... and now, here we are. I hate it because everyone is so nice and friendly. But the food taste isnt up to par. read more

Rod's generally offers good food and service. I love their Chile Relleno, cosido, and chicken and carnitas tacos. However, I was disappointed today when I ordered fish tacos and received tilapia, which I find swampy and unpleasant. I recommend using cod, whitefish, or other better options. If they change the fish, I would frequent their fish tacos often. I managed to exchange my fish tacos for delicious chicken tacos, which I enjoyed. Please, Rod's, consider removing tilapia from the tacos. A fish taco with a different fish would definitely bring me back regularly. read more

Been here a couple of time, food is delicious. Portions are big. Place is clean and staff are nice. Tried their tacos, soft and crunchy, they were good but not the best. I should say they're average. Their carne asada plate could use a little salt as the ranchero beef is on the bland side. But the sauces are very good and that elevates their food. 3 time here and well it was basically out of pure convenience. Service remains the same and consistently well. It always seems to have only about 3 staff members. This time we only had tacos. Portions on my carnitas tacos were not consistent. You can see in the pictures some lack protein. Granted each tacos is about $3 and some change. Anyhow, carnitas is my favorite choice. This place is clean and staff is friendly. Their street tacos as OK, but i dont go there for that. They have a really good Caldo de Res which we buy very often. Lol They also have good crunchy taco stuff like tacos and salads. My new favorite is their bean and cheese burrito (but I add rice). It's just refried beans (but doesn't taste like oil!! Place wasn't spotless, but above average, clean. We waited about 15 minutes. Order arrived. First thing I noticed was the temperature of the rice was medium nearing cold. My son's asada meat had the same temperature. The food wasn't bad, but not memorable. Salsa bar needed to be refilled. Two salsas were near empty. Music was great. Ambiance could've improved. Tried this place after having terrible mexican food at another nearby restaurant. The service here was fast and the cashier was friendly. Took the food home to feed the family and everybody loved it. It was pretty quite , calm , not busy but there was a lot of people coming to pick up orders during dinner time. I hadn't been in here in a minute. Burrito de asada used to be really good. Idk what happened but the meat was different. It all fell apart as well. Then I asked for foil to wrap the half of my dismembered burrito and the old lady with redish hair was on a personal call and she rolled her eyes when I bothered her for some foil. Very rude. I don't know why this placed isn't more busy. Is it the best, most authentic food in LA? No. But it's solid, consistent, and well priced. Got 2 tacos, tortilla chips and a drink for like $10.
