I support this spot because it's black owned but their service sucks. The food is decent but they run of of shit, they mess up your order, lemon for your sweet tea is inconsistent, the drink station is nasty, and the last piece of cornbread I was served looked like someone bit it. Please do something about the service...

Rodney Scott's BBQ in Atlanta, Georgia.
    Randy G.

We came to Atlanta to visit family and looking for a local bbq restaurant to try. I Googled bbq for suggestions and Rodney Scott's was one of the suggestions. I literally just picked up his book the day before we left. I didn't realize he had a place in Atlanta, so I was pretty excited to go here. The restaurant looks like it may have been an old car dealership or a shop. Either way, it's nice and clean, with big windows letting the sunshine in. We walked up to the counter to place our order. We got the three meat platter that included brisket, pulled pork (southern style), and pork ribs. The sides we chose were coleslaw and baked beans. It also came with a nice corn muffin. We were given a number and directed to take a seat and they would bring our order out to us. As we were waiting for our order to come out, I noticed some really good R&B music playing. It had a really nice vibe. Our order arrived and it looked great! We tried the brisket first. It was a little fatty, but it was very tender and tasted delicious. Next the ribs. I loved the ribs. Nice and smoky with a wonderful bark. Now the pulled pork. They offered two types. Carolina or Southern style. The difference is, the Carolina is finished off with a mop sauce and the Southern style is pulled and topped with a sweet bbq sauce. We just had a bad experience with another restaurants mop sauce pulled pork so we decided on the Southern style pork. The pork was a little disappointing. It still tasted like it had a vinegar based mop sauce that it was soaked in. It was mushy and a gray color. As for the sides, the baked beans were just canned beans with some brisket or pork added. I honestly couldn't tell what meat is was, but it was disappointing. Now the coleslaw. My first bite, I really liked it. It was different. It took me a little time and a few bites to figure out what made it different. My wife thought it was pickles. It wasn't. It was green bell pepper. Just really tiny pieces but it made it different and tasted great! My wife ate the corn muffin and said that was also really good. The sauces on the table, neither of us liked any of them. We are from the north and I know that Georgia and the Carolinas bbq sauces are vinegar based. We're just not used to this type of sauce. I'm not going to judge the sauces. This is all what you're raised on. To sum it up, we both really liked Rodney Scott's and would come back again when we come back to town.

The food here is still good!!!! Collards greens was a lot more tender than last time and Mac-cheese was on point. Good job to the staff for providing good food, great service and a wonderful atmosphere. The music selection was also great.

My fiancé and I came to visit for a nice Sunday lunch and I really enjoyed it. Ronnie Scott's barbecue I believe is a South Carolina inspired black owned barbecue restaurant and I will say they did not disappoint. The food was not dry, which is super important to me when it comes to barbecue and it held a lot of flavor. My absolute favorite dish was the baked beans and collard greens. The mac & cheese was really tasty, however, I do believe it would've been even better if I were to have it when it was super fresh out of the oven. It's still had a fresh taste to it, but that's just my preference when it comes to mac & cheese. Ironically, I wasn't the biggest fan of the barbecue choices. That's simply because I am not used to vinegar based barbecues, which I believe my fiancé said a few of them might've had that in them. I did, however, liked one or two of the options that they provided. They have a lot to offer on their menu, which I believe is great. Though we went on a Sunday afternoon, shockingly it wasn't crowded and we did not have to wait a long period of time for our food Overall, the restaurants, very clean, there's plenty of parking and because of the large menu options we will definitely be back to try other dishes. If you are visiting Atlanta, I 100% believe that this is a place that you should try out!

I've been here a couple times. It's in a location that doesn't have many eating options so I'm glad it's in the area. This visit, I ordered the rib sandwich and collards. If you eat in, you'll have 6 different bbq sauces to choose from which is nice. The ribs were well cooked, with one of them being a bit too tough. The collards were also very well cooked but lacked flavor. I can understand not adding salt to food to accommodate medical conditions but food batch tasted as if there was no seasoning of any kind used at all, so extremely bland. There was also no salt and pepper shakers on the tables so I couldn't add to taste. Lastly, I do get slightly annoyed when there of tabasco sauce available on the tables, but no hot sauce. I'll definitely dine here again but will try a different side item next time.

This is an update to my previous review which is a major disappointment. We used to come here a lot, I've brought family and friends here on many occasions to spread the word on the good food, good vibes, music, service.... The whole deal. Today I asked my husband to pick up lunch and he brought home chicken tenders that no one would want to eat unless they have a thing for burnt, dry, overcooked chicken tenders and wasting time and money. Very irritated by this. Fail.

Bartender Dee was awesome very nice and kind. It's my one new go to when I visit Atlanta Food is always on point. The meat has such good flavor, You don't need sauce, but they have several to choose from. Will I be back ?‍most definitely I will.

I ate before in 2022 for the first time. I visited that time it was a while ago. I remember watching the TV with my bro and he saw the SC location and he said that he wanted it. I told him don't worry because they have a Atlanta GA location. Something came up today so he couldn't get out to drive us there. I had got my food through Uber Eats I got the single burger with fries and I got a order of the chicken wings with honey mustard can't go wrong with that. Both entree's are delicious. I also got a order of banana pudding it's okay. I got a first cousin who makes double banana pudding from scratch this doesn't come close to me. It's definitely pudding and slices of bananas and vanilla wafers. No shade I just wouldn't get the pudding next time it's not for me. I got my food on 11-8-2025.

I've come here a few times... here's the skinny. Great meal options, price point is good. They give you healthy portions. However, the ribs were just mediocre... lacked flavor and overcooked. The smoked wings were actually really good and the Mac and cheese. The greens were ok. I'm a southern belle so my standards are high when it comes to our delicacies. The service was good, server was very nice but they would disappear for significant time periods. The cornbread was ok as well. They were also only playing one game and it's college gameday! Why are we watching golf??!! Anywho, I may come back and try some other options on the menu.

Hmmm... the customer service and atmosphere were a 10/10! My meal, not so much. I ordered the brisket platter with baked beans and Mac and cheese. The meat was ok but both sides were very very very very salty. I poked around at them but not enjoyable. I wanted it to be an amazing experience and it wasn't. I may give it another chance at some point because the place had such a great vibe.

RODNEY SCOTT'S BBQ - WHERE FLAVOR MEETS FIRE IN ATLANTA By Dr. DeAnjelo Bradley If you know BBQ, you know the name Rodney Scott isn't just a brand--it's a movement. And after visiting the Atlanta location more than once, let me tell you: this place doesn't miss. Let's get straight to it: The ribs? Best in the city. Period. Not just good--legendary. They're the kind of ribs that make you pause mid-bite, look around, and say, "Did y'all taste this?" Fall-off-the-bone tender, perfectly smoked, and bursting with flavor in every fiber. They didn't just earn my return visit--they demanded it. On one occasion, I was served a batch that was a bit too burnt for my taste. I respectfully sent them back--and this is where Rodney Scott's shows why it's top tier. No attitude, no pushback--just a quick fix and an immediate comeback with a juicy, smoky, rib redemption that reminded me why I came here in the first place. That's real customer care. Let's talk about the rest of the lineup: Brisket - Rich, smoky, and fork-tender. It's got that beautiful bark and a slow-smoked interior that melts like butter. Macaroni - Creamy, cheesy, and baked to perfection with a golden top layer. Soul food comfort at its finest. Greens - Flavorful and seasoned with love. A perfect earthy, savory balance to the smoky meat. Kathy Sauce - My go-to! Tangy, with just the right amount of sweetness and a little heat. It pulls everything together and makes the ribs sing. The only heartbreak? The apple pies were sold out. And I get it--when something's that good, it moves fast. If you ever see it on the menu: don't think, just get it. I'll be watching the pie case like a hawk next time. FINAL VERDICT: 10/10 - A MASTERCLASS IN BBQ Rodney Scott's BBQ isn't just a restaurant--it's a cathedral of smoke, where every rib, brisket slice, and spoonful of mac is a sermon in Southern flavor. The service is solid, the quality is consistent, and the flavor? Unforgettable. If you're in Atlanta and craving real barbecue with heart, this is where you need to be. #RodneyScottsBBQ #BBQRoyalty #AtlantaEats #KathySauceIsTheTruth #PitmasterMagic #CertifiedByDrBradley

It was good and fresh but didn't have that Southern BBQ taste. The meat was very tender, the mac and cheese was ok. The baked beans has pork in them that was a first for me and they were good. The coleslaw was good but the greens needed hot sauce. Its taste as if they cook everything healthy leaving you the choice to add sauces and extra salt if needed.

I recently returned to Rodney Scott's BBQ and realized I never left a review, so here it goes! The atmosphere at Rodney Scott BBQ is lovely - very modern and spacious. I have always received great customer service, even during pickup orders. I appreciate how generous they are with their sauces, although I wish they were labeled. I particularly enjoyed the white sauce and used it for the onion rings. The other sauces were hit or miss for me. The onion rings were huge and crispy, almost like eating Captain Crunch back in the day..my gums were irritated. I wish they had a smaller option available. The wings were flavorful, although some were a bit tough. I would get them again but just the 6 count. I was tired of chewing. The rib and brisket combo was really good, and I didn't feel the need for extra sauce. The cornbread was delicious. I wanted more but $4 for cornbread when I only wanted one was too much for me. The greens were fantastic. I could eat them all day every day. The mac n cheese was different but tasty. The potato salad had potato skins and they used red potatoes, which gave me pause, but after picking out the peels, it was good. The banana pudding was a hit for me. I liked that the cookies were crumbled on top instead of inside, preventing them from getting soggy. mind. Overall, my experiences at Rodney Scott BBQ have been positive. It's been my go to for bbq.

Pork ribs, potato salad, baked beans, and mac n cheese.

I got the fried chicken, which reminded me of Mrs. Knott's Fried Chicken Restaurant in terms of taste/seasonings. It could have a little hotter/fresher as I could tell it had been sitting under the heat lamp for a little bit. For my sides, I went with 'heathy-ish' options with mixed veggies and also a sweet potato soufle, which actually tasted more like a dessert., I also loved the corn bread and rolls. As a first time guest, I'm also glad that they gave us the 'pot likker' which was like a well-seasoned salty broth.

There's so much history wrapped into the restaurant that eating here feels like participating in a little piece of the city's story, and I really appreciated that sense of tradition. The fried chicken and sweet tea were absolutely iconic. The chicken had that unmistakable Southern comfort-food quality that makes you understand why recipes like this are guarded so closely. The sweet tea was exactly what Southern sweet tea is supposed to be: unapologetically sweet, refreshing, and basically a cultural institution in a glass. Paired with the fried chicken, it felt like the quintessential Atlanta meal. What made the experience even more meaningful to me, though, was learning about the history behind the Southern "tea room" tradition itself. Historically, tea rooms were among the important public spaces where women could gather independently outside the home, socialize, exchange ideas, and engage with the changing cultural and political conversations of their communities. There's something powerful about realizing that what sounds like such a simple concept--a "tea room"--is connected to a much larger history of women carving out public and social spaces for themselves.

I decided to have a tapas-style dinner with food from The Works and just had to grab some chicken from Delilah's. The menu is plentiful without being overwhelming, except when it comes to picking a favorite between the flavorful options. I knew that I didn't want or need a full meal and opted for their 3 whole wing option that came paired with cornbread. The young man who took my order was so polite and patient, as there were a few folks in line and waiting for previously placed orders. He let me know that my order would be ready in about 15 minutes so I took the time to continue my food-finding journey around the market. When I returned later, I had lost track of time and figured I'd just poke my head around their stall to see if my chicken was ready. It wasn't at that moment but I took some time to observe the process. There was only one guy in the open kitchen and prep area creating all of the meals and he was on the move. If I could add smells to my review, this one would smell like fried chicken and cornbread. It was all so fresh! When my order was ready, I only made one other stop before heading to my car to go home to my family... but not before I tested those whole wings from Delilah's. Once our order was placed, it only took about ten minutes to get our food. One thing we noticed while waiting was the cook was checking the internal temperature of each piece of chicken as it came out of the fryer. This was very much appreciated and ensured every piece was cooked to perfection. Constant quality checks like that show they take their product seriously and do not rely only on a timer to tell them when it is done. All the chicken was crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. While moist, the meat was not dripping with juices that ran down your arm or left a puddle on your plate. All the flavor was locked into the chicken. The baked beans were good, maybe nothing special but certainly a good accompaniment to the chicken. The slaw was also decent. The mac and cheese was good as well. One note of caution. The chicken seasoning is spicy. If you are used to large chain spicy versions, this is more than that. The flavor is great but the spiciness will get your attention. As long as you are aware of that, you will very much enjoy this chicken.
