Seafood chalupa salad is the greatest salad I've had in my life. Always get great service here and it's a family friendly environment. It is sad. We have been enjoying the Katella Ave in Orange location for 20 years. Service has been great and food doable in order to visit the staff. Chips great 70% of the time, salsa always great. Stopped ordering the salmon due to fishy smell, assuming not fresh, definitely not wild caught. Used to love the fish tacos but now also fishy taste, not fresh. Dialed down to only taco tuesday as the taco cart tacos could be ordered with the garnishes you like! We also loved Paris who managed the taco cart! Now there is no cart, must order from the kitchen and it is IMPOSSIBLE to order the garnishes one prefers. NOT THE SAME. Now also the service in the bar area after 5:00pm is beyond substandard. The bar tender after 5:00pm is nice but not able to handle multiple tasking. We have been patient for months but tonight, after receiving one drink each then waiting an hour for another visit to try to order food, we got up, paid for drinks at the front and left to go somewhere else to have dinner. This restaurant management has sadly declined over the past year. Food quality declined and over stretching of staff. Worst restaurant service ever, so bad that it triggered my return back to writing reviews on Yelp. Our group arrived at 6:30, we put in our orders at 7:30 although I spent 25 minutes looking for our waiter. Yes, our waiter was missing for 25 minutes, not sure what he was doing because I didn't see him taking orders or running any plates, he was just missing. And it's not as if you can get help from anyone else, all the wait staff look straight ahead when walking around in the restaurant. I wanted more chips and salsa and tried to catch the eye of anyone, this waiter was walking by and I was giving him a death stare but nope kept on looking ahead like he was on an urgent duty to find the cure for cancer. Finally I tapped him on his arm and asked for chips and salsa, I never got them. My carne asada came and it was medium well, I ordered medium rare. Told the waiter and he said he would tell the kitchen. He offered to take it back and I said no because I generally do not send food back to the kitchen. Then I realized that my corn tortillas never came. Neck crane was real as I kept on looking for the waiter or anyone but no one walked by, not a runner or a janitor. Finally, I got up and went to the back and asked a runner for corn tortillas, he said he would get them for me. That's when the waiter rushed up and said he would get them for me and I said it was ok the other guy was getting them for me. I was going to wait for the tortillas there but the waiter told me I couldn't be back there so I went back to the table. Waited, waited, I saw the runner go back to the kitchen to get corn tortillas, for some reason, I didn't think it would take that long to get warm corn tortillas. The waiter brought me the tortillas and I told him service was really bad. At this point, you would think the guy would try to improve, but no he was MIA again. The food was average, we had a few mistakes with our order, which they were nice enough to fix, but at the end of the day it just was neither amazing nor terrible. You could get the exact same street tacos and chips and salsa from a thousand places. I'm not rushing back, but it was fine. I have been wanting to go to Rodrigo's Grill for the longest time to try the food and since El Torito has caught fire I decided that last night was the night. I walked in and noticed the pretty plants and flowers it looked like a secret garden. I ordered the chicken enchiladas plate and my husband had the Fajitas the chips and salsa came out and right away I was disappointed as it tasted like it was from a jar. Not a big deal for me because I was hungry. The food came out looking very good and smelling good however as I began to eat it tasted as though nothing had been seasoned. Plain steak plain chicken plain everything. The rice was undercooked and had no chicken bouillon in it. Just a huge let down. Service is HORRIBLE. The bartender should not be taking table orders for food. The restaurant is NOT busy tonight and it took 40 minutes to get our food. After the 20 minute wait to have our order taken. I have been coming here for over 36 years and this past few years the service and the food quality has gone way down hill. I have been coming here almost every Friday night for 10+ years. Since the ownership change I have been beyond disappointed. We keep trying to come back but tonight was a huge big fat zero !!! I feel badly for the bar tender. It isn't not his fault. He gets very busy doing drinks for the entire restaurant. He should not take orders. It's stupid !! The bus boys/helpers are awesome too. my grandma and I came to this location because the Rodrigo's near our house is getting an update. we both got a fajita burrito with a margarita, though I got one because I didn't think that my grandma was going to get one and she was the driver. not entirely sure what she was thinking when she also ordered a margarita, but when they came here, they were really good! This is not a negative, but it feels like they had a little bit more alcohol than usual. it was to a point that my grandma actually couldn't drink it because she was the driver, and I had to drink both of them myself. Let's say that I was having a pleasant experience, and had to take a really long nap when I got back to her house. I almost ended up spending the night if I didn't wake up after 2 hours! The staff was really friendly and accommodating, and they were also really nice. I also enjoy the decor of this place, as it feels a lot brighter and friendlier than the other locations we've been to. What in the heck happened yesterday evening?! We've patronized Rodrigo's and its previously-named restaurant at this location for decades. While the bar business hummed along, the entire kitchen seemed to have come to a complete halt while we waited well over an hour for our food. Everybody within sight of our table in the full restaurant was left to eating chips and salsa and playing on their phones. When we decided we'd had enough, we tried to find the manager to tell him we were leaving but the wait staff couldn't pry him out of the back where he must have been hiding in the cooler. Very troubling that this is happening to what has always been a consistently-good Mexican food restaurant. Avila's is looking like our replacement choice. read more

Ambiance, Service and food was exceptional for our first visit here! My husband and I always pass by and see lines to get in and been wanting to try it out. So we finally did. We started off with their fresh hot tortilla chips and salsa, which were delicious! My hubby enjoyed his 3 item plate which included chile colorado, chile rellano and taco plate. We come here every time (last 15 years) we go to Supercross at Anaheim Stadium! Always five or six of us. The service is always great. The food is always good and served quickly. MOST importantly, the chips and salsa are very good because we eat a lot of them! For a big chain, I think this place blows doors on El Torito. The meat and the shredded beef tacos taste better. The sauce on the enchiladas has more depth and is less tart. Nobody is coming here to the chains for authentic Mexican food, but they serve up the best renditions of American Mexican food of all the competition. Lots of booth to sit all too! Suggestion/Life Changer tip, order the appetizer Chimichangita's with shredded beef. You'll be hooked, and regret you didn't find this gem sooner! We came in for taco Tuesday and what an awesome experience!!! From being seated within minutes of arriving to ordering drinks while our chips and salsa were being place on our table. Our server for the evening Beto is awesome, he recommended the spicy salsa for the chips and what an awesome suggestion! Hosted Bunco at my house recently and ordered their Party Taco platter with tacos, chimichangas, taquitos, wings, rice beans, chips. We also ordered their 3ft burrito which was delicious!! (Up to 3 meats) we got half shredded beef and half chicken. Comes with guacamole and sour cream and salsa and chips. The only thing is they forgot the salsa for both platters. But I didn't have time to go back or let them know. Check your takeout bags to make sure you get all you paid for. Love their food and dining in is even better. Happy for the take out option. Magnificent!!!! Overall experience for lunch today, a 10+! I had lunch with friends today, and I had the 2 tacos from their lunch express menu. You can't beat the price....$10.99. That menu was limited, but they give you a lot of food on your plate. On that menu there was the following: Two tacos. Fajitas Burrito Tostada Enchiladas and taco My tacos came with huge quantities of refried beans and rice. They were delicious!!! This price was only available during lunch only. The customer service was great. And the restaurant was packed with people. I loved the atmosphere of super clean tables and music. We had a great time. I never been here for dinner. Been eating at this chain since the 1980's Don Jose days. Gave this location a try while waiting for the Anaheim Hills location to reopen. Never again in Orange. The service was nonexistent. They were clearly understaffed and the one person working wasn't in much of a hurry. The margarita didn't taste anything like what I've been served in the past. Even the salsa (when I could get some) was off. Then there's the monthly rewards program. Two happy hour entrees and two margaritas come up two pennies short. No monthly reward for me this month. Very clever. All of the price increases has moved Rodrigo's out of the value dining space. Lots of better options in this price range. read more

My husband and I have been eating here since 1976 we were dating and were brought here by my Brother because he and his wife were going there every week. We started bringing our friends and family members here and they all loved it for the food and the service especially the waiter and waitresses. They also have good prices for such a nice restaurant. That's why we all started going here monthly or sometimes weekly because we all had families and some bigger than others. When their name became Rodrigo's nothing has changed except for a few menu items are no longer available unless you ask the right person. lol We still enjoy going there and it's always everyone's first request when you ask them where do they want to go for their birthday or whatever. We can't count how many birthdays we have celebrated there because they make the birthday person feel special and they get all the help from other waiters and waitress to sign the birthday song and they sing it in Spanish and then again in English. Every time we celebrate there makes wonderful memories for us all. Thanks to everyone at the Anaheim Rodrigo's for their hospitality and great service and the best food.
