This place always hits the spot! Love a good mom & pops spot. My go to order is always the charburger combo. The steak sandwich is really good too though and the chicken strips. Wow! What a sad change! The original owners and staff are all gone. They sold out. Different recipes and all. The pastrami sandwich is way smaller and looks pathetic. They changed the chili in the chili cheese fries. Now it tastes bland and awful. No more flavor. The new owner just wants to fatten there pockets. They let the old staff go to hire staff for cheaper. Such a sad thing to see. I will not be coming back and will be telling everyone I know about what happened here read more

This little gem located on the corner of Artesia Blvd and Felton LN is the spot!!! Parking lot is big, staff is super friendly and very clean and spacious area to eat at. They have lots of options for food with reasonable prices. Mom ordered the Jr Char Burger combo and I ordered me the turkey sandwich which I added bacon. Everything came out nice and freshly made with great taste. I like the fact that the fountain drinks are self serve. I love me some orange bang :) Looking forward to coming back again. read more

Used to love this place :( . The food is okay but the experience was less than. The service needs some serious improvement. Came here with my friend. Our food was served after three people who ordered after us. The lady working was "kind" enough to walk up to customers that had placed their order after us, and gave them their food at their table. Us on the other hand had to walk up to get our food, which was arguably more difficult to carry. I hate when places are rude to younger customers for no reason. read more

Needed a burger fix yesterday. Went to local Rods. Had the Rods burger with cheese. Have got to say been coming hear since 1985 at least. This burger was NOT what I am used to. And for 12noon the place was empty. This place is was a local iconic hang out. The burger now does not resemble the original at all to me it was tasteless. No charbroil taste at all. No chopped lettuce and onions. The burger was dry. 3 leaves of lettuce on bottom I removed 2 1 huge tomato slice. Since coming here with friends and family this was the one place that we never had to add ketchup mustard or any consents. What I had yesterday was less tasty than burger king or Norms. Disappointed yes the original rods burger is gone. Change the lettuce change the onions. Change the sauce change the tomato change the way the burger is stacked served dry not the juicy old way. This burger joint has been the same since I was a kid with of course a mini facelift on the restaurant. The food is consistently delicious, never had anything bad, the service is always spot on and friendly, and being here gives me all sorts of good feels. How many restaurants can you say that about . I forgot to mention in a world where everything has gotten to be so expensive, Rods is still affordable, thank you I always get the patty melt and substitute the meat with a veggie burger. Delicious! I had a craving for fried zucchini. Yup, fried zucchini. The rest of the family was ambivalent but were onboard for burgers, and two of us hadn't ever been to Rod's so here we go. Speedy service and plenty of tables in a somewhat sedate but very clean setting - loads of parking too. And perhaps that's where the great memories end. The fried zucchini was a miss - the spears were mushy, and unfortunately, it was like the breading was the star of the show. Similarly, the onion rings weren't memorable either (oh how I miss super delicious Maui onion rings!). Both were served piping hot with ranch dressing (upon request) but lacked taste and texture and frankly the breaded coating was boring. Burgers were decent for this type of establishment. Beef tasted beefy, iceberg was crisp but why restaurants continue to serve crumby tomatoes is a mystery to me. I'd rather skip the tomato altogether than have to pull it out of the sandwich and toss it into the trash. If I had a better memory, I would ask about the tomatoes when ordering...something tells me though I'd only confuse the transaction. This shop appears to satisfy plenty of folks, I'm afraid it didn't do it for us. read more

This place is fantastic in both food and service. I accidentally ordered for pickup via Yelp instead of delivery and service was fantastic. I ordered bacon breakfast burrito, which also has hasbrowns, chili, and eggs. I requested for hasbrown to be extra crispy and it was. I also got a side of fried zucchini with ranch, which was absolute perfection. I'm weird and like salsa, ranch, and bbq sauce with my breakfast burrito and she gave me them sauces (ranch $0.50). I've been a customer of Rod's since the 1980's. It used to be a cool place to hang out and enjoy a good breakfast or burger with friends. The rather shabby but familiar and comfy red pleather booths were yanked out and replaced with tiny tables and super uncomfortable, cheap chairs that make you want to finish your meal and get out of there, pronto. So I'm basically giving this two star review due to the fact I ordered " pastrami chili cheese fries". I ordered a large and basically just got fries. Yes their pastrami was thick cut but you should give a paying customer more the five pieces pastrami. That was just very rude and disrespectful. The chili was good but also not enough. Our go to spot! My kids love coming here! We come here every other week, we always get the bacon avocado cheese burgers! I only put 4 stars because I stopped coming here for a few months last year after I noticed their meat was making me very bloated as soon as I ate their burgers. And it wasn't only to me it was everyone who ate them. I then gave them another chance and I guess maybe they changed their meat bc I have not been bloated by their meat again, neither have any of my family members. This place was really clean and the staff who were a older couple pops in the grill smacking the spatulas on the grill n moms working the counter with help from the son. Bring back those delicious tacos from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, or at least give me the recipe. I had been eating at Rod's since the 1970s. Everything on the menu was delicious. Those charbroiled hamburgers were the best in the business!!! Those tasty chunk beef burritos with melted cheese and sour cream were a meal in themselves. French fries and onion rings were to die for!!!! All food items were consistently top notch until somewhere after the year 2000!!! Original family recipes were either misplaced or deliberately destroyed!!! The younger generation has no idea what Rod's used to be!!!!! Nonetheless, the food is OK and still better than many fast food establishments, but having eaten at Rod's during its glory days, it's impossible to rave about its current state of mediocrity.
