Seafood market in strip mall plaza that offers fried and boiled plates. Can get boiled plates hot or cold. cafeteria style with few 2 seat tables available. NO fishy seafood smell! No burnt or coming oil smell!! Area appears clean floor nor tables were sticky. The young man at counter was welcoming and helpful with daily specials and offerings. I got the fried shrimp combo and husband for the 2 drumstick special. Both were protein and 2 sides. The greens not sure what variety were tender, vinegary and flavorful. Green beans were good. The max and cheese was decent very cheesy tasted like it had cheese whiz but made for a flavor profile. The shrimp were juicy, plumb, tender and well seasoned. Came here with a big group (13 people) an hourish before closing and they were able to still seat us and were happy to serve us! The food was really great and well seasoned. Whenever I go out of town, I always look up the local favorite places to eat. I'm in Jacksonville Fl for a few weeks for work so I went to search and I found this place. To my surprise, it was right up the street from my hotel! The entire experience was awesome! As soon as you walk in, Mr. Rod greets you as if he has known you for years. He took my order which was the Garlic Jumbo Snow Crab Legs!! As soon as I got them back to my hotel room, they were gone!! Lol they were sooo delicious!! I have been seeing this place and considering giving it a try for some time now, well tonight it happened. I got the Garlic Shrimp Combo and have to say it was really good. Looked like about 14 shrimp, corn cob and baked/boiled potato. All seasoned very nicely and all tasty. Rod runs a nice market and it is very clean both inside and out. He is a very friendly and personable fellow and I enjoyed our conversation while waiting. I had to have him warm my dish up for me as we are experiencing a power outage tonight. This establishment is a take your food home and eat place. The prices are similar to what you see out in town but the size of shrimp you get are not. These things are huge and so delicious. I ordered a shrimp combo which comes with 2 potatoes boiled egg and small corn on cob approximately 15 shrimp drenched in garlic butter. I ate them so fast I forgot to count lol. I like that they have a option to order cup of shrimp $4 approximately 7 jumbo shrimp or order 3 cups for $10. I will defiantly come again customer service was great. You can also buy uncooked jumbo shrimp for $9.99 a lb with head off. They had pre cooked lobster and crab trays too. Defiantly the cleanest seafood spot I ever been too and no awful seafood smell. Absolutely terrible place. The day before Father's Day I stopped at Rods and bought a dozen crabs for $65 to have with my son for Father's Day. I asked the employee if I buy them today will they be ok tomorrow. He replied they will be fine if you refrigerate them. So I refrigerated them. Now, they're all dead. I called and explained the situation to the employee today. He was very hostile and told me that once they leave the store alive it's the customers problem. I will never go back. read more

I saw this place while pumping gas a few weeks ago and choose today to place an online order. The online order process was very easy and efficient. I arrived at the exact time I placed on my order and the order was ready , no waiting. I ordered a variety of items to get a feel of their menu. The wings and the fried catfish were outstanding. The fried oysters were small and overcooked, very hard and rubbery. The fried shrimp appeared to be frozen, those were not fresh shrimp and they are also very small. The hush puppies had zero flavor and also appeared to be frozen. Captain D's hush puppies are much better. The staff was friendly and the place was clean however I was disappointed in my meal and I won't be returning. If you are a REAL seafood lover such as myself, this is not the place for you. Wanted to try a seafood boil and got it on Uber eats. I never want to try one again. There was no meat in the crab and the meat that was in there was dry and hard like it sat under a heat lamp. I didn't get 12 shrimp like it said and only got 10 which wasn't a big deal. The egg was also hard and I couldn't eat it. I was surprised when I saw it had 4.5 stars. I've been going here for years and always considered my blue crab trays for 16 dollars to be a fairly good deal. Recently went back and they had gone up by TEN DOLLARS for a simple blue crab tray. I assumed it may have been an issue with their supply chain and current gas prices, but other crab shacks around town have kept their prices fairly consistent, so not sure why this business seemed to be hit so hard. Hopefully they get better vendors so I can return in the future, but 26 dollars for regular blue crabs (not even a full tray) is atrocious in Jacksonville. I'll be frequenting the downtown crab spots until then. read more
