Insane Uber Eats deal! We've gotten takeout here multiple times because of the deals and the value alone deserves 4 stars. We've tried the spicy oxtail pho and the beef pho and both were mid. The chicken noodle bowl is tasty and I would definitely recommend that over the pho. On uber if you spend over $20 you also get free desserts which is these little jars of mango, oatmeal and sago and they are good and yummy! I am sharing a concerning experience for the awareness and safety of other diners. During a recent visit, I found a bug in my pho. I contacted the restaurant and spoke with Kevin, the manager, who assured me that he would investigate the matter and get back to me with his findings. After waiting a couple of weeks without any follow-up, I reached out to Kevin multiple times via text requesting an update. Unfortunately, I never received a response. While I understand that issues can occasionally arise in any restaurant, I am disappointed by the lack of communication and follow-through regarding a serious food safety concern. I am sharing this experience so that other patrons can make informed decisions when dining at this location. After months of getting ads to try this place, I finally put it on my list for when I fly back to NorVa. Since UberEats was running a special of buy one get one free, I opted for ordering to-go via the app. I ordered the combination pho, chicken and shrimp egg rolls, and received the chili oil set as a gift for meeting the spending requirement. I will say attempting to get to the restaurant was an experience to say the least and parking is far limited so I suggested parking in the parking deck not too far from it. And unfortunately I did not go inside to retrieve the food but I was told it's extremely small inside. The bag of food was pipingggg hot. I was salivating all the way home. Pictured you'll see the spread of what I ordered. The normal portion for the egg rolls is two but since it's BOGO free, I ended up with four. I tasted the broth by itself since that lets me know how amazing the food is going to be. Lots of flavor! You can tell they put hard work into but the star of the show was the oxtails. Oh! My! GOD! I've never had more tender meat in a pho before. And it was an abundance of meat. I added a sprig of lime juice for the nice acidic kick and devoured my pho. The egg rolls were delicious as well. A nice crispy exterior with a soft interior. It was supposed to come with sweet chili sauce but it wasn't in the bag so we used the store bought we had in the fridge. Nevertheless this is a solid app! I sampled the chili oil set. I'm very fond of the oil. Not too spicy and the flavors of garlic is prominent. This was my third time here in the past 1-1/2 years and I am thoroughly convinced that they do not have the same quality of meat that they did when they opened a few years ago. I ordered a vermicelli dish with meat and it was over $20 for this lunch portion, which was primarily noodles and vegetables. I always order this same dish. The meat that was on it was tough and rubbery. I could not even cut it with the fork. I had to pick each piece up and tear them into smaller pieces. Most notably, though, was the extra extraordinary amount of thick fat on each of the pieces of meat. I don't remember the meat being this inedible the first time I ate here. Third, I got the 100g protein bowl today - it had two eggs, madd shrimp, brisket and salmon - and it was really good. Had I known the brisket was going to be that tender, fatty and flavorful when combined with the rice and egg and Viet dressing, I would've gotten all brisket. I ordered through Uber Eats and it was ready in like five minutes. I walked in, was greeted by the nicest man working, and even got to spin the wheel. I've only ever ordered from the Arlington location for delivery but that was one to two years ago and was okay but the bowl today was so good. Order using Toaster iPads, have both BanMi and Pho, and some beverages most are pre-packed. They also have other Vietnamese dishes. I had the BanMi, it was good. Their best part is everything is made in Avacado oil. So it's got high smoke Point and you won't eat trans fats. Okay, probably the better part is they close at 1 AM so you can get healthy food that late if you are looking for. Vegan/Veggie options and customizations available. I had the opportunity to try out Roll Play Grill recently. The inside is small, with just a few high top tables to sit at. They have a smaller menu than more Vietnamese restaurants I've been too, but it gets the job done. I ordered their spicy oxtail bone broth with beef pho and a Thai coffee. The pho was spicy and flavorful, and the coffee was creamy and strong. They were able to answer my allergy questions with ease. I felt like the broth lacked the depth of flavor than my favorite pho place, but I liked how it cleared my sinuses. The prices were higher than most pho places I've been to as well. read more

Their menu is a lot of fun - you can choose pre-made rice/noodle bowls, pho, banh mis, rolls OR make your own. I opted to make my own noodle bowl and my friend opted for a make your own roll. The flavors of the meat, fresh veggies, and sauce are light and satisfying. Their peanut sauce dipping sauce is particularly tasty. I've only ever dined here once but I do their delivery on a weekly basis because it's just that good! They aren't like the super traditional pho toppings that you get but the broth is chefs kiss! I typically get the spicy oxtail pho and build your own summer rolls but lately, I've been very into their pho broth alone. As for the service when I did dine in, they're very friendly and informative. The size of the dining area is very small so don't consider a large group if you're going to come here. Some of my favorite items are: Banh Mi, Ox tail pho, spring rolls (shrimp), fried rice and their Vietnamese iced coffee! I honestly don't understand all the hate that Roll Play gets! I'm Vietnamese and I really enjoy their bowls tbh. I love their noodle rice bowls and Power Bowl with the double protein. Flavor wise, the Vietnamese vinaigrette and spicy peanut sauces are my favorite. Their egg rolls are crunchy and fresh. Yes it is a little more expensive than going to Eden Center but it's clean, the produce/meat is good, and service is on top of it. Plus their rent at Founders Row alone justifies the cost. They have great deals through Uber Eats and I have never had a bad meal there. It's fresh, healthy for the most part, and always hits the spot. As a fan of the restaurant group's other concepts (Chasin Tails, Teas N You, and Lei'd), I've always wanted to love this place, but after multiple visits (at both locations) I can't seem to get fully on board as a regular. But hey, everyone's got a least favorite relative even though you still love them, right? I think my issue is that while I applaud the owner's emphasis on healthy eating using avocado oil and adding modern healthy twists to her mom's traditional recipes, perhaps the endless customization to the individual components and "fast casualization" comes at at the loss of a cohesive flavor unless the customer figures out his/her own sweet spot, which perhaps I've been unable to do since the original flavor is chiseled into my brain. The mass production of these flavors also means the timing of a perfectly runny sunny side egg can be off the mark, noodles are a bit bland, and the proteins may be overcooked after sitting in a larger bin waiting to be selected, which tends to work better for raw veggies or components that do not change character over time. So it's 3.5 stars for the food, but I'm going to give it a 0.5 star bump to 4 since I applaud its mission of healthy eating, adhering to its mission of modernizing Vietnamese food with an emphasis on healthy ingredients and providing fuel for active lifestyles, having excellent high quality packaging, and having a great work staff culture and being open late since the staff has always been high energy and seem to enjoy being there. read more

I'm glad I tried this place! I was walking by and decided to check out the menu. The location is pretty small inside, only a few tables, but there's seating outside in the downtown area. I came in and was the only customer inside, and all the employees were in the back cooking/preparing (maybe for mobile orders/pickups etc), so I wasn't greeted for a few minutes. There was no one working at the front desk, I had to order on a kiosk. This usually is fine, although this was my first time here, so it would have been nice to ask someone questions about the menu. I got the Saigon bowl with chicken which was great! I got sauce on the side, but ended up not even using it. The bowl itself was very flavorful. I don't love runny eggs, but there was no option to change what style egg you got. Also, when I opened my bowl within a few mins of receiving it, the egg was cold (everything else was warm) so maybe the eggs aren't made-to-order anyway. I ended creating my own custom bowl for about $12.50, which contains beansprouts, carrots/radish, cilantro, jalapeño, mint, and a few other veggies paired with lemongrass chicken on a bed of rice noodles! The Vietnamese vinaigrette is a sweet fish sauce based sauce that pairs really well with the dish. Utterly delicious. Because it wasn't busy either and I was only there for a short period of time, I was able to park right in front of the restaurant for lunch. Large portions for the price. It's the perfect option when you're craving those Vietnamese flavors. I'm a big fan of acidic/salt balanced foods. Ordered the Saigon bowl with lemongrass chicken and it's a huge portion size. I could probably divide into 3 meal portions. No extra proteins or additions included. It's a bit pricier than other places I've been to but nonetheless food is tasty, hot and fresh. The real star of the show was the vegetarian egg rolls! Fried to crispy perfection, the fresh carrots, taro, onion, and shallots with the nguoc nam sauce was amazing. I could put away a tray of these, it's so dangerously addicting. The set-up is simple as you order from a kiosk, but the employees are ready to answer any questions. The food is prepared fairly quickly. Many tables were available, with seating even available outside. Absolutely disappointed. My two eggrolls never arrived -- and they were five dollars. They did send the dipping sauce, but no eggrolls. On top of that, the food that did show up was cold, and I had to heat it up myself. Their phone number doesn't even work, so there's literally no way to contact the restaurant about missing items. Uber Eats couldn't help either. In this economy, getting robbed for five bucks is unacceptable. If you order through delivery, be ready to check your bag because they clearly don't. For the meal being $18, more than if you were to sit at a restaurant, and to taste like that is just awful. I was STARVING beforehand and was just willing to eat anything and this place was the closest. I was ready to scarf down the noodles but they were unbelievably oily and left your entire mouth feeling oily. Traditionally, this is supposed to be a light and refreshing meal but this was the opposite. I opted to get the pork belly and it was just all fatty pieces and not the good kind. Normally im the kind to not waste any food esp meat but i honestly could not finish it. Frequent customer here. Super fast, good and affordable food (I have tried pretty much everything on the menu, no red flag). Hot sauce (avocado oil based) is super spicy, and I can see them flying off the shelf if sold in other places. I loved the location in Tysons, but it was difficult to get to from where I am. This location is fantastic. Parking is plentiful. All of the ordering is done via a kiosk. Service is fast and the food is fresh. Three restaurants (Roll Play, Nue, and Chasin' Tails) are all at this location. Roll Play is at one end and Chasin' Tails is at the other end. In the middle is a place called Nue. I got the lemongrass beef banh mi and an order of magnum rolls. I'm very excited these restaurants have opened near me and I'll post on the other two after I visit. read more
