Staff is pleasant - ton of people working in the kitchen. The food is just ok. I recall the banh mi at Tysons being very good but here, the sandwiches are bland. Ordered the broth and the soup isn't even filled to the top (see photos). There's definitely MSG in it as I couldn't stop drinking water. Always struggling to find pho late nights when you're craving it? Well, this would probably be the closest unless you want to drive out into the city. This roll play location is in falls church city near apartment complexes and downtown falls church. You have some new and old competition, but roll play is more of your modern chic version of traditional viet favorites. Banh mi, goi cuon(magnum rolls), vietnamese Bowls, eggrolls, and pho just to name a few. They are priced more on the steeper side, but you do get a big portion of everything except for the pho which I'm sorta disappointed in. I love their pho and wish they gave a more decent size considering my favorite spicy oxtail pho is almost $24 However, it hits the spot. Aside from the size they need to add mlre oxtail cause you only get tiny little bite size pieces of oxtails:( they have noodle options too which I love cause i can't get the konjac noodles anywhere else and my stomach doesnt tolerate rice noodles in liquid broth. It is a pricey upcharge...but again it satisfies my craving. The magnum rolls are also a big hit in my opinion, ginormous and perfect for how much you are paying. Love the different sauce options! I go here all the time! Foos is so flavorful and fresh all the time! I love to get the build your own noodle bowl. I get it with pork belly, which is so tender and delicious. I also get it with the tofu. The tofu is so soft and yummy especially with the to die for peanut sauce. The service at Roll Play is great! Food is usually ready within 10-15 minutes. The prices are also really affordable, plus Roll Play does a point system that allows you to get discounts or free things. The ambiance is very nice in Roll Play. Hello late night dining FINALLY!!! Fresh flavors delivered hot crispy and crunchy at 11:45pm at night... we were beyond impressed. The vinaigrette has lovely umami and isn't too fishy or oyster-y ... balanced and flavorsome. Just ordered two power pho and veggie rolls. All items arrived cold, Roll Play is less than two miles from where I live. Noodles in pho undercooked. I've never had undercooked noddles in my pho ever. No happy endings here....Constantly changing employees....and for some reason there have been repeated errors with orders, I am picking up orders made thru uber eats, and every time I get home with food I pick up myself, items are missing, etc...in the past when I raised the problem the front room staff would apologize and offer solutions.....until recently when owner was in front room, supposedly to solve these errors...yet even with her there, errors in the orders continued....she twice told me, even though I was eyeball to eyeball with her, that because I ordered thru uber eats, I had to resolve thru them....when I reminded her that there was no uber eats error as I was picking up and the order in their system was correct , it was very clear that her team made the error, and she still refused to correct her own errors....no happy endings here, no hospitality....go elsewhere where you will find better restaurants who value their customers read more

I had to write another review after trying their new rice bowl menu... truly worth every penny. It was healthy, tasty, and satisfying. Super fresh. Many restaurants made me avoid vegetables because they were just not so tasty--and I understand how hard it is to keep them fresh every day because they go bad so quickly. But Roll Play Grill could keep things always fresh and tasty. A long time ago, I once thought "I am not gonna pay this much for a takeout pho," but now, everything here does not look so pricey with the quality given. Crazy inflation! I had Low Carb Bowl because I like garlic (it's the rice flavored with garlic) and prefer avocado to eggs for cholesterol reasons. The Saigon Bowl is the default one. Really enjoyed the food we got here for a weekend lunch at work. I would describe it as luxe Vietnamese. Their goi cuon were absolutely stuffed and included the crunchy fried rice paper roll that you only find in a very small number of Vietnamese restaurants but I really love. Their bun was also really full, but what I didn't like was that it didn't come with nuoc cham. Or rather, it could have come with it, but it didn't automatically and you had to choose the sauce that came with. Because I'm so used to nuoc Cham coming automatically I picked a different sauce (in my case spicy ox tail broth) which was yummy but didn't quite nail the flavor profile for me in the way I'm used to. I think I needed to order the "sweet chili" broth option but I didn't realize that and was afraid that they were just going to send the bottles condiment or something. I had no expectations of coming here but it's a very small restaurant, one long table (8 seats) if you choose to dine in. My mother ordered the spicy oxtail pho, she loved it at the other location but said this location did not have as much spice. My son ordered the fully loaded bowl with pork belly, he enjoyed it. Neither him or I noticed it came with peanuts on top and unfortunately had to have it remade but they were very nice about it. I ordered create your own pho, with oxtail broth and meat. It was good, but honestly I wouldn't of known it was oxtail had I not ordered it specifically. I also tried the eggs rated banh mi with beef steak. The steak was too chewy, so my first bite pulled quite a bit out, the picture that have of it and the steak actually on the sandwich were not the same. My mother tried this with chicken at the other location and said it was very good. The drink selection is VERY lacking, $3+ water or Vietnamese coffee were the only options. Ridiculously excited that now there is a roll play within walking distance of my home! I always get nervous when a new location opens up for a restaurant that I love because I worry that the new location will not live up to the old location. This is not the case at all. We had dinner here, a few nights ago, and the food was fresh and delicious as ever! The service here is exceptional. This is a small location with only about 6 seats inside. On a nice day you can sit in the nearby courtyard on a bench or on the grass; however there was only one outside table in the courtyard. It isn't the restaurants table. I love the magnum fresh spring rolls. They have a nice crunchy item in the middle that adds a nice surprise to them. Their sauces are well balanced as well. Their fried rice is also lovely and is extra special with a fried egg on top. Their pho is filled with flavor. Bánh mì is lovely. Good crusty and chewy roll with lots of filling. Mmmmm. Great in theory; disappointing in execution. I've loved Vietnamese food for decades and am exceedingly fortunate to live in an area with a thriving Vietnamese community and lots of great restaurants. Sadly, Roll Play isn't one of them. The food is dumbed down by its creative intent. If I'm ordering chicken pho, give me great quality white meat, not some weird thigh bits. When i order a summer roll, use amazing quality roast pork and shrimp, not weird chicken and beef and don't make it so big and bloated. I would love Roll Play to reset, rethink, improve, and become a leading Vietnamese restaurant chain. That should come through great customer service (not sriracha and summer roll dipping sauce forgotten in a delivery order) and the best quality ingredients without abandoning the reason we love Vietnamese food to begin with. This being a new Roll Play location, I expected the food to look and taste the same as the Vienna location, but it surprisingly wasn't. Firstly, the spring rolls were significantly smaller in size. Second, the portions for the "make your own bowl" option were also noticeably smaller, most disappointingly, the amount of meat or protein. Third, the peanut sauce tasted and looked different; it was bland, runny, and a beige color. I'm confused by this experience, and the next time I want to have Roll Play again, I think I will order from the Vienna location instead. Lighting and appearance of the restaurant could be better. Peeking through the window, it was hard to tell if they were open. Inside, there is one table if you want to dine inside. Otherwise, you can find an outdoor table in Founder's Row that is open for anyone to use. read more

The magnum rolls (three rolls - you can choose the protein which is either beef, chicken, pork belly or shrimp) are yummy and quite huge. My sis and I shared. The first visit we tried chicken, shrimp and beef. The shrimp and chicken were our favorite as they were very flavorful and plentiful. We did not like the chewy beef. I like the crunchy veggies and the crunchy fried wonton skin. The peanut sauce slightly separated with a small amount of oil pooling on top but it was still tasty. The second visit we tried the pork belly as the shrimp was out. We were surprised at the pork belly turned out to be our favorite. This second time though the roll did not have as much protein and was not as neatly rolled as the first time. However, we still enjoyed our light dinner. There is one communal table inside. There are also seating outside - the times we visited it rained so they were not used. You order through a touch screen which is pretty intuitive. There was not much drink choices - only VN iced coffee and Pellegrino sparkling water. A big positive is that there is a free parking garage with pretty spacious parking spaces. Note the turns in the parking garage are pretty tight - only one car at a time. Another positive is that a half block away is a matcha dessert place that have more drink choices and yummy desserts. read more

I rarely write food reviews when I enjoy the food. The Mom's Rice Bowl was phenomenal. I don't understand how it was so delicious when it took over 40 minutes for it to get here. It wasn't very hot due to the distance, but it was still warm. More importantly, it was fresh, the shrimp, beef, and pork were each cooked separately and had distinct tastes. The rice was cooked perfectly. The amount of cilantro was just right. It was seasoned well, with a great balance of texture from the oils/meat fats mixed with the rice. The soft cooked eggs were perfectly soft and slightly runny, and the spicy paste has some texture, smoke, and wasn't too spicy. I have no idea how consistent they are here, how the place looks, or how good the service is. I don't really care either, that was probably the best tasting meal I've had in the last year.
