Too many yummy things to want! Had a ham and cheese croissant which was delicious. The star was the black sesame croissant. I was in heaven. Cute little place. Smells delicious. Service was great.

Really yummy! We tried the apple lychee croissant and the mango sticky rice kouign amann. The apple lychee croissant is what you'd expect, but still really good; lots of apple slices, a little cinnamon, and some lychee mixed in. The mango sticky rice kouign amann was the standout! Fresh mango filling and a thin layer of sticky rice inside the pastry. Would definitely get again. They were sold out of a good amount of pastries by 1:30pm (as expected since they close at 2) so we'll definitely need to stop by again to try their other goodies! The owner was super sweet and kind as well.

I have never had baked goods like this before and I mean that in the best possible way. Our family visited on vacation and after trying some, they were so good we bought bough to last us several days breakfasts. Mochissants are perfect! Mango sticky rice kouign amaan, just... wow. The owner Bruno is a humble genius and honestly I don't understand why this place doesn't constantly have a crazy line out the door. It's that good.

So flakey! So fluffy! So crunchy! The perfect pastries! I wish i could have this every morning it was so good! I had the goat cheese croissaunt and the strawverry mochisant. Both were fantastic and i would definitely order again! Glad i stumbled across this amazing bakery! And to top it off, the service was nice and friendly! 5 stars!

This downtown corner suite used to be the longtime home of a chain sandwich shop. With roots from the Bay Area, Rolling Out Cafe is the new business that has taken over the space. If you can't find a nearby curbside spot, then perhaps park across the street within the structure at Ralphs and walk over. Some tables were placed outside on the sidewalk for seating, however the inside was only large enough to order and take your food to go. On the awning were the words "Home of Mochissant." It's the signature product and was made up of laminated layers of mochi and pastry dough to form a croissant. I arrived late in the day so the choices of baked goods were not as plentiful as during the morning. Several types were on display behind the plastic shield at the service counter. Menu boards were posted high above listing other offerings such as breakfast and lunch sandwiches, pot pies, and coffee. Three Mochissant flavors were available... plain, chocolate, and strawberry. I chose the last one for my order along with a Mango & Sticky Rice Kouign-Amann which was also a laminated pastry. The Mochissant was slightly chewy compared to a traditional croissant, but that was the point of including mochi into the mix. A strawberry slice was included inside the product. I loved the mango and sticky rice combination in the second item which was sweet but not cloying. The worker who assisted me looked like the owner as he was running the shop all by himself while I was there. The prices were reasonable given the quality of the products. If downtown parking wasn't so challenging, then I would return more frequently to try other stuff like the egg tarts, cinnamon rolls, and Hawaiian sticky rolls. My experience at Rolling Out Cafe was an easy four star rating.

A bakery that became popular in SF has migrated to SD! The cafe itself is no frills but the pastries speak for themselves. They are all fresh made and reasonably priced. Super flaky and buttery but my favorite was the coffee mochisant. Such a unique concept of combining mochi textures in a croissant. I loved that none of the pastries were too sweet. Great for the Asian palette and you can tell people are noticing it too because I believe they are still operating through their soft opening and it was quite busy!

Came here while walking the dogs, and decided to get the mochi strawberry croissant, and it was the perfect mix of the flakiness of a croissant and the squishiness of mochi 11/10. It was also just the right amount of sweetness. But for the size, it was a bit over priced. I expected it to be bigger. Though the food tasted amazing, I removed a star because the place is a bit messy and needs a decor revamp. I know they just opened within the last 2 months, so I'm sure they're still figuring out some things, but the ambiance needs some work. I would love to come back to try out their mango pastry.

I really love everything I tried there, but mango sticky rice danish is my favorite. There is no seat inside so be prepared to just get to-go. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Will go again and try more if I can

One of my friends who lives downtown recommended this bakery, and I was drawn in by the Asian menu and reasonable prices, so I took the first opportunity I got to try it. I am so glad I did! I was so pleasantly surprised by the large variety of items which is impressive for soft opening. I had a hard time deciding and picked a large variety of items to try. Favorites: -mango sticky rice kouign amann: we loved the sweet and tart mango flavor and the actual pieces of glutinous rice in it. -chocolate and strawberry mochissants: the mochi stuffing inside makes sense and provides enough texture difference between the crispy buttery croissant which makes for a pleasant experience -black sesame croissant: there is so much black sesame filling in it and the croissant is so buttery and tasty -ham and cheese croissant: I thought it had a good amount of ham and love that the ham and cheese are baked into the croissant rather than stuffed after baking Needs improvement: Ube egg tart tasted like a plain egg tart. Overall, everything looks sweet, but actually they're not too sweet at all and are perfect for Asian palate. That's the best Asian compliment that not too sweet-- meaning you can enjoy the underlying natural flavors. Can't wait to go back and get more pastries! What an amazing bakery to come to San Diego

Came here on Thanksgiving morning to try new Asian-inspired pastries combining mochi with flaky, buttery croissant layers, recently relocated from SF. I think their specialty is the mango sticky rice kouign amann so made sure to get that but their other offerings were so tempting (and reasonably priced) that I couldn't resist! Overall, I love the combinations of textures and how the pastries are not too sweet :) Parking is limited since it's in Downtown San Diego. Chairs and tables are plentiful outside.

This place just relocated from the Bay Area and we heard about it from a friend. It's located in downtown on the corner of 1st and G street. There's only street parking and there's no indoor seating. It's just a pick up and go bakery. The staff was very friendly and answered all our questions. We got there around 10am on Saturday and half of the baked goods were already gone. We bought almost one of everything and pretty much loved almost all of them. Compared to other Asian inspired bakeries nearby, these baked goods are far superior in taste and quality. The croissant is flaky, buttery, with plenty of filling. The mochissaint actually has a mochi center! The kouign amann had a mild mango flavor with actually bits of sticky rice in it. The ham and cheese croissant could use a bit more ham and cheese though. For the price, we definitely recommend this bakery!

The ham and cheese croissant was our fav (see pic for center). The Mango sticky rice kouign aman was so delicious, krispy edges and great flavor. The texture of the strawberry and blueberry mochissants were also great (I wish they were a tad sweeter for me). Service was friendly and quick and prices were fair and didn't break the bank! Street parking and there are a few tables outside with umbrellas. I'll have to go back for the ube tarts which were sold out when we got there mid morning on a weekend. Clean shop and they have grab and go drinks and coffee too.

This bakery has recently rolled into downtown San Diego. I came in for some croissants but they were already out of the ones I wanted so I settled for a slice of zucchini and corn quiche for $7. I found the corn inside the quiche to be interesting but it worked. Both the zucchini and corn were abundant in the quiche and tasty. My favorite part of the quiche was the pastry crust. It had that great texture and flavor. The egg portion was well seasoned and baked. They offer a variety of pastries and baked goods, including a mix of croissants, cinnamon rolls, sausage rolls, sticky rolls, biscuits, and much more. They also offer breakfast sandwiches. There is some outside seating, but none inside as of yet. The service was welcoming and friendly.

It is a TRAVESTY... that I haven't yet written about the…read morecoffee shop I've dedicated my life to over the past year, because... well, like I said, you will always find me here! OVERVIEW Come for the equally balanced, delicious coffee AND matcha drinks; the spacious work setting; the side entertainment (like a free bookshelf + camp chairs outside), and incredible ownership. Be prepared for hard parking during peak hours (lunchtime) and possible lack of seats (especially during schooltime). DRINKS It is RARE to find a shop whose matcha is on par with its coffee; normally, one is better than the other. Easy Does It, or EDI as we affectionately call it, is pro at BOTH. With coffee served from Provecho, matcha from Nami and hojicha from Paru??? You just hit a trifecta of GOOD good. Our Typical Order: 1) Iced Earl Grey Latte - omg, I LOVE the earthiness that the earl grey syrup brings to the matcha. Matcha, to me, is either too grassy or too sweet; the earl grey syrup makes it a perfectly earthy balance. 2) Honey Cinnamon Latte - how good could a standard coffee shop latte be, you ask? They have the HCL at almost every shop, and it's not usually standout. EDI, again, blew expectations wide open. Their HCL is balanced: sweet without being saccharine; and you can actually taste the cinnamon. 3) Hojicha Latte, Hot - omg, there was a time when I ordered almost one of these A DAY. Again, another sleeper - if you like the taste of coffee but can't take the caffeine (for a late night drink, perhaps), a hojicha is a good choice. It has that grounded taste that coffee gives, and the hot version of it is like a HUG for your mouth and stomach. They also have cool inventive flavors like the Matcha Cloud, the Coconut Cream Cloud (which is a coffee cloud on top of coconut water, I hear it's refreshing), so you'll never get tired of the drinks they have here. I also want to mention that they do serve wine and beer, too... so there's something for everyone! FOOD Spend any time in a coffee shop and know... you're gonna get hungry! Thankfully, EDI has open-faced bagel sandwiches AND pastries here, all of which look mighty tasty; all of which I cannot partake in, since I am gluten free. But ohhh, gluten warriors unite! Thanks to the partnership that is Jacob of Made for Mei Mei Mochi (aka the protein mochi) and Easy Does It, you'll have your PICK of 5 different flavors of homemade, chewy, ooey, DELICIOUS MOCHI -- SANS added sugars and preservatives you normally find in the store. I'm telling you, I don't normally like mochi (it tends to be so sweet) but I love the texture. And Made for Mei Mei hits it all! Flavors include: 1) chocolate hazelnut -- which tastes like Ferrer Rocher, yum 2) ube 3) green tea / red bean 4) black sesame 5) pb&j (yes, he's stocked peanut butter & jelly, a fan-demanded flavor) My favorites are #1 and #4; sometimes I go for #2 and #5 to mix it up. Either way, I spend WAY too much on these tiny li'l treats I might as well become an early investor. AMBIENCE This place is perfect for computer work as light doesn't directly fill the whole space. I like a li'l shade when I'm staring at a bright computer screen. There are two rooms: front and back; the back is a li'l darker and more chill vibes than the front. I also appreciate that they have a free bookshelf (just replenish it with your own!), plus a few magazines scattered around (for decoration, but I still browse). I miss when coffee shops had analog media, especially for when we don't want to be glued to our screens. EXTRA CREDIT Easy Does It also offers their shop as space for community events. From mahjong with No Ambition Tile Club to wine and jazz nights IN SUM THANK YOU Easy Does It ~ Grace, Nancy, the sister I haven't met, Eugenia, and the entire team ~ for creating a lovely third space where I can work, enjoy my snacks / drinks, meet friends and co-work, and have a great conversation. You make it so easy to feel welcomed, and I'll forever be grateful for you :)

One thing I really liked was the space itself. The café has a large, open interior with plenty of seating, so it never felt cramped even during peak hours. It's a comfortable place to catch up with friends or get some work done. The only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is the value. The drinks are definitely on the pricey side, and I was surprised by how small the cups were for what you're paying. While the quality is there, I just wish the portion size better matched the price. Overall, it's a cute café with a great atmosphere and solid drinks--just be prepared to spend a little more than you might expect.
