One of the worst dining experiences of our lives. My family and myself are new to the area, tried it out and we're baffled at the poor service. We stood at the doorway for five minutes before even being acknowledged. Once finally seated, again we became invisible. When we got the order they had forgotten my daughters order and we had to wait a long time for that as well. During the whole experience there was no sign of any sort of management whatsoever. Just inexperienced servers that didn't seem to understand why they were even there. The food is horrible and the service is insulting. I suppose this is why the building was almost empty. Good food and great beer on tap but very poor experience with the service. Hostesses have no idea what they're doing; We were told there was a 30 min wait when there were empty tables. Other people waiting were skipped altogether and they seated a walk in couple right in front of them. Waitresses also inexperienced; We had to flag down a waitress to take our orders and were told the wrong beer on tap. Overall, they need to train their staff properly. It's really disappointing when the menu is great but the service sucks as it ruins the entire experience. Don't ever want to come back - unfortunate since we live very close by. read more

I've enjoyed romers at there 4th Ave location & marine drive location but this port moody location doesn't seem to be living up to the franchises standards. The food was the same but the three times I've been some items or ingredients weren't available. If it's on the menu it should be available. Also had to go get cash because debit machines were down one of the times. Service is spotty. Hen your paying 14 dollars for a burger that doesnt come with fries i expect good service. Oh Romers, what have you done to me. I gave bad feedback to you the first months you were in business at this location. I decided to drag myself back here with a few friends, and it turned out, this place is not all that bad anymore. The service was attentive outside, the food was actually pretty good (we had some lettuce tacos and a burger?) and the beer was decent. Consider this redemption. Do yourself a favor a skip this place. Waited over 20 minutes to even be spoken to by our server, then waited another 30 for our drinks. We finally were able to order about a hour after sitting down. To be clear the restaurant was NOT busy and told her we were ready to order the 1st time she came around. Our food arrived all at different times and were never asked if we wanted another drink and our water was never refilled. When we would try to order another drink she would say she would be right back and then never return. We had to ask other servers to find our server, as they wouldn't server us either. While eating our food, she brought us over "free donuts" because "the kitchen was running behind tonight" which was not true. Everyone around was being served in a timely manner. After being there almost two hours, waiting for our bill I said something to her about her service, she didn't apologize, just sorta shrugged her shoulders and walked away. I'm a local resident and have been here a number of times. I think the food is great. I don't support factory farming, so the ability to order hamburgers made with humanely raised, organic beef is a real treat! The salads are good too... and if you order a burger with a "green" bun, it comes with a big chunk of lettuce instead of bread. :) I am not into fries, but I will order the yam fries here - they are crunchy and delightful. I wouldn't say the service "exceeds expectations" exactly, but I've never had a real problem with it here. read more

Damn people are hating on this place but my wife and I had a great experience! We both had the basic burger and a couple beers. Fries are extra, but that basically made it the same price as Earl's or Joey's or whatever. They had local craft beers, Including Parkside Brewery, which just opened so that was cool. The young man that seated us was very friendly and our server was great. The burgers here are hand-made, and delicious. Sometimes I thin Canadians have a tough time with burgers. No, they are not supposed to be a perfect circle shape with a perfectly smooth pate like consistency. That means they aren't hand made and aren't fresh. Romer's nailed their burgers, and pretty much everything else. We'll be back! read more

Sadly disappointed with my experience here especially since it's one of the only full restaurants in Suterbrook Village. Stood at the front for a few minutes and then was seated in the bar. Asked for a coke as my drink because I was super thirsty and knew I was going to want a few refills.. turns out they hadn't changed their supply to the soda gun yet so they went upstairs and opened a cab with a glass of ice instead because they had a 24 pack of coke to go through first (sounds lazy to me but it's all good). The only thing that bugged me about all of that was the fact that the remainder of the can of coke sat on the warm dish sanitizer and then a cook came out from the back and grabbed it to see how much was in it so she could drink it... puts her hands around the mouth of the can and then puts it back when the waitress told her it was mine. Then she proceeded to take it and pour the rest in my cup without asking. Am I being a stuck up a-hole or is that gross? You decide. Ordered the roasted garlic sliders off of the happy hour menu, they were decent. Came with fries and the burgers were alright but had one huge clove of garlic smack dab in the middle of each bun, which was the only thing that made them "roasted garlic." Don't get me wrong I love garlic but it was kind of interesting. Overall atmosphere was dead. Waitress and what seemed to be some kind of manager were talking about private business matters in front of customers which is always a little awkward and unprofessional. Went to Romers tonight for the first time. Food was great but service was HORRIBLE . The server was very slow at greeting us , did not ask to refill our drinks or if we would like another one . Also left us for 20 minutes with our bill before we had to walk up and pay , only to tell us their machine wasn't working and they only accepted cash . Also all of the servers were walking around with skirts so short you could almost see their who ha . Was disgusting for a family bar / restaurant . Came in recently as I haven't been to a romers in forever. I had the Mac and cheese and the cauliflower wings. Both were unbelievably good and the Mac and cheese actually came with salad and some bread as well which i was not anticipating but was definitely pleased. The service was fantastic and we even booked a reservation in the growler room (super cool private room upstairs) for an upcoming birthday and the manager Shay made it super easy and no fuss. Came here for dinner with my husband as who doesn't love a good burger?? And if you're going to be known for your burgers than you better put that claim to fame! But no. Terrible burgers ruined by the OVER inflated prices and lack of sides. If I am going to pay that money for a burger I would expect at least some sort of side (come on how much does that cost you vs the burger you're charging)? We ordered a beer, it was out of stock, I ordered a wine instead, it was also out of stock. So we opted for a different beer which they said they no longer carried but hadn't updated the menus...okay?? I attended Romer's, Canada day evening with some friends. About 20 minutes into my visit, a man named James (who I later learnt was a chef at Romer's) came out and intruded upon our table, as he knew some of the people there. I was having a conversation with my friend about COVID and James butted in and started preaching about how he will disagree with me about everything and kept repeating that he was a Trump supporter. I brushed him off and told him I didn't care about his political views and didn't want to discuss any of this with someone I had never met. He proceeded to get in my face and aggressively fist bumping me (continuing on about his political views). Finally, I had ignored him long enough so he left me alone. However, he continued to berate me from afar, even laughing as I couldn't find the washroom. I later learnt that he acts like this often, but to a guest in the restaurant, off shift - unacceptable. I have been to Romers 3 times now and although the food has been delicious the service is terrible. Long waits with no interaction with servers, empty drinks with no offers for refills. Today will be the last time I go. Went for lunch not busy but still the usual long wait 10 mins for any server to come take our drink order and then just as long to wait for them 15 mins. When ordering food I asked to the turkey burger and my friend ordered the same. The waitress said just had a mind blank, that was two tuna burgers, we said nope two turkeys. 40 mins later arrived our tuna burgers, sent them back and began the wait for the turkey burgers we ordered which arrived about 15 mins later. No apology from the server or the I am assuming manager that delivered the food out. Bills arrived about 20 mins after she took our plates away and only becasue we asked a different waitress for them.....then I was shocked that nothing done for the 2 hr long lunch we waited to have and the wrong lunch deliver d. Not a free drink, complementary fries nothing full price for everything. To me when you screw up you awknoledge it and do something, even small, to show the customer you want them back. Romers you have great food but terrible service. This was your last chance with me and my friends who live just a block away. read more

We attended a function upstairs this past Friday. Appetizers were provided by the host, they were decent. It was a no host bar and we paid our bill at the end of the evening including a very good tip. We were contacted by another attendee who had also added a tip. He pointed out that each bill had an automatic 18% tip included. So basically most people added another tip on top of the automatic tip. It would have been appreciated if the server had pointed that out to us. We hope to have this $ returned. Friends of ours live in Kits so it would cost the amount of the double tip in gas for them to drive back. We are not impressed. read more

I gave three stars for the atmosphere and ambiance, definitely not for the food or the prices. (As an ex-chef) The service was good, but again, from what I've read from others and I agree they could have more Smiles on their faces. My wife and I were there with friends, so we started out with calamari and some hot wings. Overpriced and pretty standard. The Rib Burger looked really good, so that is what I ordered and my wife got the man's man's Burger. I soooo wanted to love my rib Burger, but it was so damn dry (maybe dip the piece if short rib in its braising liquid 1st before putting on the burger).....my wife's Burger was pretty good according to her. Fries.....meh...they should be included in the price with options for other sides. Showcasing the local beer was awesome as i had a few but the Moscow mule was calling to me......$9 bux!! My double highball was less in price? Almost Vegas price! Will I go back? No....."bang for buck" factor is just not there for me. Too bad. Since I lived right in the area I decided to give this place a try. It was just me so I decided to take a seat at their bar after waiting and realizing there was no hostess. I took a seat at the bar and patiently waited for about 10 minutes. I understood it was late and the employees may have been busy. Then I see another two guests walk in and take a seat at the bar as well. After a couple more minutes, the bartender comes back and deals with the two customers. I wait some more thinking the bartender will come to me next. Instead he takes off, leaves the bar and goes to chat with another table that seems to be his group of friends or some regulars. Now, I have been sitting for 15 minutes at the bar without any service. Not even a simple check to see if I have been helped. Being in the hospitality industry, I understand both sides and will always give the benefit of the doubt to the employees. But also, what that being said, I understand it doesn't take much to acknowledge a guest let alone take care of one. Even the manager who was there working in casual street attire failed to notice this. It may be a small oversight but details like this matter and I'll be hard pressed to make an effort to come back. read more

Absolutely terrible. Went on a Sunday night. Got in right away. Had to ask for some service! My daughter had the Detox salad. Basically boxed lettuce with oil. It was beyond Terrible. It did not even look appetizing!! I had a burger. Small 1 leaf of lettuce and not worth the money especially because you get nothing with it! My husband had the jerk chicken. Way to spicy. Being a frequent customer I am always very pleased with their food and their general service. So for my birthday I had made a reservation for 20. I came in a week prior, watched the hostess write it down. I noticed how there were so many other reservations and had her enquire with the manager if they would still be able to accommodate. They confirmed yes. The night arrived and my guests arrived before me. I start getting calls that there was no reservation in my name. Called to find out more and they had claimed that someone called in and cancelled my reservation. They clearly overbooked and the place was packed. My party had to make due and spread itself over the lounge and bar area over the course of the next hour or so. It was just a stressful experience combined with guests being seated so far away. There was zero compensation offered by the manager for something that was obviously their fault. Way to ruin my birthday. read more

Zero stars for community engagement! I live in Suterbrook. My husband and I had been anxiously awaiting the opening of Romers. I'd peek in every now and again to see how the construction was coming along. Then one day I noticed people in the restaurant. Turns out they had 2 parties for their friends and families but neglected to engage the community in which they are established. I totally get that noise, dust, double parked supply trucks and inconsiderate contruction workers are all part of the construction process. What would have been nice was some kind of evening event organized by Romers management for the residents of Suterbrook and Port Moody. A little acknowledgement saying thanks for your patience, we look forward to serving you! Similar to what they did for their friends and family. I was very dissapointed and won't be giving them my business. read more

I just don't get it, the bad reviews. We come here so much, I have yet to have the same experiences as these other diners. I was so impressed by the service one time that I asked to speak to the Manager so I could tell them to keep up with the training. And the food...oh I could got on and on. I do have two things that I would say could be improved. I agree with the other diners, I think the portion size of the sides could be improved. the other thing is that they have too much spicy/heat on quite a few of the items. My daughter had the tacos and even I couldn't handle them. Maybe offer them in two kinds of 'heat'. We will be back and back and back. read more

I have always been a big fan of Romer's, so was very excited to have one open close to me in Port Moody. I have been many times to the new location and I am loving it. The service is always excellent, staff is very friendly. Love the burgers, love love the price and the taste of the Romers red wine. Those meatballs are my absolute favourite thing on the menu. Worst food. We had lunch on Labour day and it was not busy, but we had to wait for our food for 45 minutes. Oh, it would be better if it did not arrive at all. All our meals were not eatable. Burger, fries, calamari, tacos - everything was greasy and the only thing we could taste was the oil that was use many times. The lettuce chicken wrap was awful - dry meat and the lettuce leafs were not for wrapping. Poutine was not only not eatable, but it looked awful, pieces of non melted cheese and greasy fries. The waitress was very nice and we felt sorry for her as she tried her best. We ended up not paying for the food. Anyways, I wish I've read reviews before decided to try it out. read more
