This dealership doesn't work well with you if you purchase a car for cash. I know they don't make enough money on these transactions to really care. Tragedy struck just 3 weeks after purchase and the car was rear ended. The insurance company decided to total the vehicle and here I am 5 weeks after purchase and still no title. According to the title clerk she submitted the title to the state of Oregon 3 full weeks after I purchased the vehicle. They didn't wait 3 weeks to cash my check. I called the DMV and they said they are still listed as the owner. So now I have no car and no money. DMV said they should have given me the title and they can expedite the transaction. Dealer refuses to because I didn't pay the 100 fee. I would have had this even been told me. Claim I signed a privacy agreement and that is why I could just get the title, yet in the glove box was the previous owners registration. Some privacy. My transactions deserved the same handling as on where the dealer was making money off of the financing. I will never deal with them again. read more

Horrible customer service! Took 3 weeks and 2 messages and finally calling the manager for me to get someone to call me back about scheduling my car for repairs. Woman argued with me that she talked to me the week prior, I explained if she had talked to me I would have made an appointment for the repair also she was telling me she called and spoke with another person not me so okay you did not talk to me! Finally get the appointment was told car would be ready early afternoon, at 4pm got a call asking if I wanted an oil change because the same girl couldn't remember if it was me or the person after me requesting it. Nope no oil change just the repairs. Was told my car was sooo close to being done she would call me back. 5:35 pm still waiting. Again the girl asks if I want an oil change because I signed papers today saying I wanted it. Told her no papers where signed today when I left the car to her responds "I'm sure you did I will go check" Great! When the F will I get my car? Informed they still need about 20 more min and on top of that not all the repairs are done! Are you f'ing kidding me you didn't do all the repairs! I have to bring it in again! Why?? Because when I was telling them about the issue on the steering wheel 3 weeks ago they thought it was something else so they didn't order any parts. They offered us a used car they claimed someone had turned in for trade towards a new car. As it turns out, the other customer had not yet decided to take this other car, so Tonkin Hyundai sold us a car they did not yet own! We've waited 4 days now, for them because they said it had not been through their inspection process yet. Now we have the truth, it is not their car and they can't give it to us and they have no idea when/if we can have it. We thought we could trust them and we've been waiting, with no car to get to work. Today I was told that they have some other more expensive cars we can buy instead! We purchased a used Mini Cooper from this dealership. Part of the deal was to have the hood repainted (stripes were coming off|). The dealer agreed to have the hood repainted. Now 14 months later, the paint is peeling off from the corner at the passenger windshield. We called the dealership numerous times. When they finally got back to us,they said it wasn't their fault "if there was a defect in the paint job.." They said, "How do we know you didn't take it to Reno and leave it in the sun?" We offered to drive the car to the dealership (about 25 miles), and they said it wouldn't matter - they're not going to take care of it as it doesn't "make business sense" to make right everything that goes wrong. DON'T come to Ron Tonkin Hyundai if you want great (even good) customer service and follow up. read more

Ron Tonkin Hyundai are not to be trusted. the will pull a bate and switch on a person. We bought a Dodge Magnum from them around dec 2nd. They told us we would have to wait a day to pic up our car. When I contacted them 4 days later they told me the front timing was cracked and they were replacing it. We waited quite a long time for them to fix our car. I have driven the car about one hundred miles. the engine parts on the front of the engine are falling off. it keeps the check engine lite on. I expect to get no results from them. the did not do what we asked and slipped an expensive warranty in on the deal. these guy are crooked buyer be ware. I am not done with them I will spend as much time as needed to cause them to lose customers. I can make a lot of noise when I have to. follow the battle on face book. read more

This review is more about one particular sales person at Ron Tonkin Hyundai. His name is Tanner Vannett and we cannot recommend him highly enough!!! We went out to Hyundai to test drive a car and Tanner helped us. We have not bought a new car in about 13 years, and like most people, shopping for a car is down on the list with going to the dentist, death, and paying taxes. However, Tanner treated us with respect, he did not try to "sell" us anything but listened to our numerous questions and concerns and did not push anything on us tat we did not want or need. We did not end up buying a Hyundai simply because we found a car that better suited our needs. But we wish we could have purchased a car from Tanner. I had a dealer in Everett, WA that would give me about 10% off of Hyundai official website prices without asking because they knew how to do so, informed me of all the internal deals that were available on various cars, & applied no pressure. "This is what I can do this month." No one in a four-state area came close to their price. Some even couldn't figure out how to match their price. I was looking for a dealer that would sell me the best value car in the world (the Elantra) time & time again without hassle. So when I moved to Oregon, I looked for a new dealer that would deal the same way. I found that in Ron Tonkin. Car dealers want to make money. So: o Know the car & options before you contact them. The Hyundai web site is great for building the car you want. But, if you need the personal help, they will gladly provide it. o Negotiate a fair price via e-mail. Tell them the car and how much. Have them send a car ID, photo & specs showing installed options. o Don't pay more for options that you didn't ask for. A dealer can usually take 30% - 50% off of installed options delivered but not desired or have them get the car you want. o Be prepared to walk away (you can always go to my old dealer (Hyundai of Everett). But I don't think that will be needed. o Be prepared to wait if Ron Tonkin can offer a better deal later. o They were fair on the trade-in. I was shocked. Check the Kelly blue book before you go for personal resale and trade-in values. o Treat the sales staff with respect. They work hard. They want repeat business. Set the tone. Never argue with or counter a counter offer. Just say yes or no (you can say what it's worth, but move on). Options were options to pick & choose. That too surprised me & says a lot for Ron Tonkin. o They will offer expensive options with high mark-ups. Every dealer I know does this. Don't be offended. Just say no (you can treat the cloth yourself for less than $100 or cover it for less than $200). o At the end, you will close the deal with a Finance manager. They will likely offer a greatly reduced price on the maintenance package ("at cost") versus what the sales person offered. I've had four Hyundais. My total outlay on all four for uncovered items (after 60K miles) was less than $1K. I personally wouldn't take an extended warrantee on these great cars for any more than $500. The new cars keep getting better. But make your own decision. o I spent 40 minutes negotiating by e-mails and two hours at the dealership closing the deal. o A free full tank of gas & I was off. o I'll be back when I buy my next car. read more

Just plain liars. I leased a Sonata from them several months ago. My auto broker friend found the only one in town at their dealership. He called, negotiated the terms we wanted and scheduled our visit. When I got their, had to spend 4 hours re-negotiating everything and still didn't get what I was promised. And to top it off I just found out they refused to pay my auto broker his fee, he's a friend so he never brought it up to me. I bought my car for Ron Tonkin about a year ago the sales staff was great know complaints there but there service department need some help. They call me for my free oil change that they give you when u buy the car well it's been a year so guess what I have had three oil changes in my car so far and I always use full synthetic oil I drive a lot. So I drop my car off and she says she needs to check some numbers from my car I ask her how long it going to be she says about and hour. She doesn't say anything to me about staying there to answer any questions so I look for a place to set down but they don't have a waiting room for the service area so my daughter and I go to Wendy's across the street. We get back to find my cars done and that my phone numbers didn't work.... So then I get in my car to see that they put cheep oil in my car when Hyundai recommends full synthetic. When I asked about that she says for the first oil change they never do full synthetic even know that's what Hyundai suggest!!! I'm not happy with the cheep oil that was used in my car and I will not be going back to the services department!!! I have sent family and friends to buy cars from them. I bought 2003 Toyota Camry some 7 months ago. Everything went well with the salesman, we reached the deal and I returned home happily with the car. In a couple of months I had a flat tyre and I tried to replace it with the spare tyre in the trunk. When I opened the trunk I found a huge old tyre which would not fit in my car. I had to spent some 170 bucks to tow my car to the tyre shop which could be avoided, had they been honest to me. I went back to the dealership to complain about it. A gentleman who introduced himself as a manager came to help me. The first thing I would do, if something goes wrong from my side is' I'd apologize and think about the way to resolve the problem. But it was not the case him. He would rather talk to me like a big boss ( he might be boss to his employees but not to the customers). He was giving me an address of a tyre shop. I don't know if I look that retarded who drives a car but don't know where the tyre shops are. I returned home without any solution. They asked to come back on next business day but I decided not to go back there just because of the way I was treated. Honestly, Its not about the tyre which I could buy for 50 bucks, It is about that individual's treatment towards me. The customer service at this dealership has been very disappointing each time we visit. We just bought our second vehicle with Hyundai, and with this dealer specifically. We live about 5 hours away, and therefore contacted the dealership and made arrangements with them prior to our arrival so as to have the car and everything ready. So it was upsetting when we arrived to find that they did not follow through on any of our needs. When we arrived, the vehicle was dirty. The interior was dirty as well. They also did not get the vehicle certified like we had asked, and so after driving 5 hours to the location we had to wait for them to clean the vehicle inside and out and also certify it. After the vehicle was certified they also neglected to give us a second set of keys that should've been included with our purchase. Overall, as repeat loyal customers we received poor service. Not only did we arrive to a dirty, not detailed, and not certified vehicle, we were also mostly ignored during our visit. We had to cancel plans that we had made in the area because we had to wait so long for everything to be taken care of. The staff is rude, and unwilling to be proactive and helpful. We will not be returning. If customers are purchasing a car from a business, they should at THE VERY LEAST be able to expect that the car is clean and have the proper keys with their purchase. And as a loyal customer purchasing our 2nd car with them, we should've also been met with better customer service. read more

Worse experience EVER!!!!!!! I read a lot of bad reviews here & a lot of good reviews, but more so bad reviews to I was skeptical of going, but it definitely was a waste of my time. Erick has been trying to get a hold of me for 2 continues days. I've been ignoring him because I didn't want to waste my time knowing I'm going to get rejected due to no money down & bad credit. I FINALLY answered he asked if I was looking for a car & I said not really because I don't want to waste my time. I know Having good credit & having money down are the most important things. So as I was on the phone with him I SPECIFICALLY SAID "wait before any of this appointment making I really don't want to waste my time & YOUR time because at this moment I DO NOT have a down payment & my credit isn't good" so he tells me no, it's fine! We help a lot of people with bad credit & we work with many banks that are willing to help with loans for people with less than perfect credit & how it's their goal to help others in situations like this, so that made me happy that a dealership was willing to help people that really really needed the help. I got my hopes up! So We made the appointment & I went straight after a long day of work! I arrived there at 6:00pm met Erik for like 1 min. From that 1 min he seemed pretty nice. He was busy with other customers, so he placed me with some guy that I can't even remember his name. He was really nice, offered us water & all of that, but not so talkative & didn't seem to happy. He asked if I had a down payment & I said NO, I had only told Erik that over the phone. He got my info & my bfs info super fast & simple then left for 5 min to check our credits & what not. He came back & was absolutely so rude! He came back straight to the point & said "there's nothing I can do to help you" & tried walking away & I said "wow see I knew this was going to happen!" & continued to say "there's nothing I can do to help you" then tried walking away & I said "wait what if we came back in a couple weeks with a down payment?" Then with an attitude he says "well you you need to come up with a down payment with what half the car is worth" so give & take that's about $10 grand? "I said wow that's actually quit a lot" with an ATTITUDE he says "well it's you're credit! We can't help you" I stood up & walked straight out the door. He was absolutely so rude! I know there is. I knew I had No chance of walking out of anywhere without a down payment & with bad credit, but over the phone he said he could help after what I had already told him. That guy Erick placed us with was just rude, he could've told us in a way nicer way! I absolutely HATE rude people & he was one of if. I already look BAD walking in with no down payment & low credit, so for him to act like that made it so much worse & it made my look bad in front of people that was there listening. Basically it was a "you have bad credit, I can't help you & get the fck out" kind of attitude! So disrespectful. read more

First off, make sure you are preapproved before entering. Tried to charge 13 percent and sell a extended warranty with 3 year coverage for 4000. Also NEVER EVER let them talk you into post dating a check for down payment. You will regret it. My credit union got me at 4.25 and 2000 for a 4 year platinum coverage in other words more coverage. Also, once they have all monies, as one employee said "we have no reason to accommodate this person". We had a temporary financial situation which they didn't care about working with us. Luckily we were able to fix, they didn't want to help anymore. They were just concerned about the money. Neither will I put myself in that situation again, nor will I go to them. After visiting the dealership on at least six different occasions and being promised repairs to a vehicle I test drove, the repairs were not complete and I was told I would be provided other options. I had been given a vehicle and told that the repairs could be done with the warranty in 30 days but that the sales manager would find other options. I purchased a 2015 Tuscan in December 2015. I was told NUMEROUS times during the entire process that the 10 year bumper to bumper warranty fee was waived because they were desperately trying to get rid of 2015 cars to make room for the 2016. I had two other adults present while I purchased the car who can confirm the main sales pitch that was used was that I would not have to pay any additional fees for the 10 year bumper to bumper warranty and not once was the cost of the warranty mentioned! When I got my first bill I got a charge over $2,000 extra for the warranty. I did speak with the manager who said his salesmen would never lie about $2,000 fee. I definitely feel like I got taken advantage. Will not be purchasing from Hyundai or that dealership again. read more

Everything was set, i applied, they ran my credit, i made my appointment to get the car, showed up and they had loaned the car out 2 days before! To someone in Longview, WA (60 miles away). When i showed up they kept telling me it was on the way. After waiting two hours it still hadn't shown up, so we left. So incredibly unprofessional. Walked in with a preapproval for a used vehicle. Made it known that I was preapproved through my bank. Found the car I wanted and even thought it was priced reasonably to begin with. Adam Gomes ended up being my "finance guy". Told him I was preapproved and that I needed a purchase order. He said it was no issue and he could send it on over to them and save me the hassle of driving over to the bank. Great! He then proceeded to get all the papers ready and began having my sign. I asked questions about what these other items were and he gave evasive answers. Ulitmately he was trying to have me sign for a bunch of additional services I never wanted and he never asked if I did want. HWhen I got to the actual breakdown he had the wrong bank, that bank was allowed to bombard me with additional sales calls, and he also had the term of the agreement set to 72 months instead of the 60 that I was preapproved for. I had to argue with him for a couple of minutes about how I was already approved at 60 not 72. It was at this point I had him stop everything while I called a third party to verify his answers. My third party was a former manager for an auto lender. He let me know that this guy was playing dirty and dont agree nor sign anything else until it was all changed. After the call when Adam came back in, I told him that I dont agree to anything but the actual vehicle. After that he shredded everything and began acting like a petulant child slamming drawers and acting incredibly unprofessional. Then his last parting childish move was to put the temp license sticker on the rear window in such away that it is possible to ruin the rear defroster. Will not recommend this dealer which is dissapointing because up until that point I was having a wonderful experience with Tony our lot representitive. read more

Sold us a piece of crap car, one month after we bought our Jeep Compass clutch/clutch plate was broken, and they tried to charge us 1800 to fix it. and oh, before that, one week after we bought the engine light turns on and we were told by their technician it's the gas cap was lose, so we trusted them. Then the car stop running in the middle of freeway all of the sudden 1 month we told them that the engine light was on? what kind of dealership is that? You pushed us to buy this car because of the sweet talked, the salesperson knew there's something wrong with the car. And won't help us out trying to fix the car because of it was sold as is! Thanks guys, our car will be sitting in the driveway for many months till we can find a money to fix this car. My son had purchased a vehicle from this dealership and had a good experience, so I returned when it came time for me to buy. The salesman was very knowledgeable and helpful. I came into the dealership around 7:30 p.m. To simply look at a vehicle. The salesman, James Westech, did absolutely everything he could to help me see the car. He really took his time and made me feel comfortable. He reassured me not to worry about their 8 p.m. Closing time. The car was good, the price was good and they gave me a really good trade in value on my car. The salesman himself cleaned and prepped the car while I signed the papers. In all, the transaction went without trouble or delay, everyone was kind and helpful, I am very happy with the car and the service I got at the dealership. read more

I purchased a car in February 2011 from Ron Tonkin Hyundai. A sensor has been on since I purchased the vehicle indicating the Tire Pressure Monitoring System has a malfunction. At 44,000+ miles I took the vehicle in to Town and Country Hyundai to have it fixed while still under warranty. I was informed by Town and Country Hyundai the wheels/sensors on my car would not work with the cars computer as they were not the same year as the vehicle. Meaning my 'NEW' car was not really new at all and had previous years wheels installed. I would imagine it is against the law to sell a vehicle as new when the parts on the vehicle are from previous years. When I informed the Ron Tonkin Hyundai of the issue they basically told me tough luck and there was nothing they were going to do even though the car is under warranty and was sold to me as a 'NEW' car. I am quite baffled at the whole situation. Do yourself a favor and go to a different Hyundai dealership. read more

The purchase went smoothly as it was a TrueCar pricing purchase. However I was talked into adding the sealants to protect the exterior and interior. I was living in LaGrande Or at the time, but figured I'd make a return trip in a few weeks. Little did I know I would be rushing back to AZ to care for an old flame. We reignited our relationship, and I have never left. So imagine my surprise when going through paperwork and I remembered I never had the $897 Sealants installed. I called and asked that it be refunded to my loan, since I'm not exactly around the corner and have yet to get it installed. Instead of trying to keep me as a satisfied customer, they tell me I had it installed in November 2014. When in fact I was out of the country on a cruise from the 15th to the 24th of November, and was back at work at my school on the 25th. They swear I had it installed on the Friday the 14th. Funny...as I was in my school here in AZ the entire week before our cruise. How could I be teaching in AZ, and having my only car getting sealants at the same time all the way 1465 miles away in Gresham OR? They don't care....they just want to shaft the public, regardless of the truth. Should have known better, I really should have! read more
