They are like the good-twin of Dunkin Donuts, hiding out in secrecy in a small shopping mall. These are what all donuts should be (vegan and fresh and good!) I tell everyone I know about this place. Whether or not you are a vegetarian or a vegan, these donuts are one of the great hidden pleasures of Las Vegas. Their hours are kind of early and they do sometimes sell out of certain types of donuts so it does behoove you to get there earlier than later. Their bare bones store leaves the focus precisely where it should be: amazing delicious donut goodness. The donuts are just sublime and they are cheap. Not reasonable, but cheap. A dollar for an apple fritter bigger than my hand? Yeah, give it to me. The donut holes are perfection. I don't believe that these are vegan. Seriously. I've eaten so many vegan donuts by now that I've come to expect a certain taste - a bit of an offness, for lack of a better word. (Is that even a word?) I've been trying to hit up this place on my last four visits - ever since I went veg. They close at 4pm and since they're off the strip, I always seem to miss them. Luckily, I managed to make it there at 4:05pm on my last trip and grabbed one of each of their last donuts. When the price came out to $5.25 for a whole box full, I had to ask if it was correct. I'm used to paying $3/$4 a pop for vegan donuts, which don't even come CLOSE to being as delicious as these. Their apple fritter (my usual) was the BEST one I've ever had. Three days later and I was STILL noshing on it because for one thing, it's friggin humongous. For another, since it tasted so good, I had to savor it and ration it out. Their sugar and chocolate donuts were pretty basic, but their apple turnover/churro was another big hit. It wasn't until I bit into the cream filled one that I was convinced these are vegan - the cream was definitely soy. Still good, but prob. my least fave of the bunch. I'm so sad I didn't get to try more, but come on...it's Vegas!! I can barely roll out of bed at a decent hour, let alone get there in time for a good selection. I've sampled many a vegan food. And while many of them are similar in taste to its non-vegan counterpart, there's usually a bit of healthiness to it or texture that's off, hinting to the fact that they aren't the real thing. Ronald's Donuts have to be the most real tasting vegan food item I've ever come across thus far. They have the good fried, doughy taste, glazed look, and airy texture down to a T. A plethora of pastries are made and sold here, from the usual glazed, to caramel and chocolate bars, sugar coated twists, to soy cream filled donuts, and a type of apple strudel. Don't believe "vegan" and "donuts" even belong in the same sentence? They cater to the purists, as well; the bottom row is of the normal variety. Prices are dirt cheap, and the place is a total hole-in-the-wall. Unless you're in the know, there's absolutely no way you could happen upon Ronald's and find that they serve vegan donuts. Part of me thinks it's a sham, because it's not even advertised. Rest assured, there are no eggs or dairy in these pastries. People come from all over just to partake in these guilt-free delicacies. Attention sprinkled donut lovers: this place is for you! I have been living in Vegas for 2 years now and have not tried Ronald's Donuts until today. I have driven past the shop on Spring Mountain many many times, but just never had the time, or could not make it during their business hours. Today was one of those days where I woke up super early and had some time to kill before going to work. I was craving a donut to go with my coffee and thought, I think I'll stop at Ronald's! When I walked in, there were a few people who were enjoying their treats and coffee while reading the newspaper. There was no line, which was awesome. The lady behind the counter was very nice and friendly, with a big smile on her face the entire time. As I was deciding what to get, she explained to me that the top 2 rows were vegan. I got one rainbow sprinkled donut, and a dozen of the vegan glazed donut holes. I took a bite of the sprinkled donut while driving to work, and wow, after that I just could not put it down! This was definitely one of the best tasting donuts I have had in a while. The cake donut was slightly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Very unique and different from the usual items that I get from Krispy Kreme. The icing and sprinkles were just right, not overly sweet. Let's just say I regret not buying a few more! The vegan donut holes were good, but nothing special. I could not tell that they were vegan because they tasted like your standard donut holes. Prices were very good. I paid a total of $1.80. Finally had the opportunity to try this place. I always come by and forget that they are a cash-only establishment. Not a fan of that and pretty much the only reason I decided to give Ronald's just four stars instead of five. I almost NEVER carry cash on me, so that's a super inconvenient policy for me. Love the smell of fresh donuts! We are heading out of town and stopped in at 5am, the shelves are full, and we are hungry. We each pick, making a dozen, and leave with our selections. Somewhere past the speedway, heading to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, we open the box. Wow how fresh are these! My favorite is the chocolate glazed, it's almost melting in my mouth. After reading so many great reviews on here and other sites, I decided to finally make a stop here during my recent visit to Vegas. I visited early on a Sunday morning, around 5:30 am so I could guarantee I would have a large selection of the vegan donuts to choose from. Oh, I did. I bought an apple fritter, turnover, cinnamon swirl, bear claw, apple cinnamon burrito AND a dozen donut holes! All for myself, I mean, some people go to Vegas to binge drink...I just wanted to binge eat vegan donuts! Now, onto the taste of my treats.... I have nothing bad to say about any of these. They were all absolutely delicious and I couldn't even believe they were vegan! This was my first time eating an apple fritter since going vegan and it was AMAZING. We were looking at different restaurants with vegan options and this was in our top 5. Went here on Valentine's morning to pick up donuts for our niece and nephews to surprise them at their home in Vegas. We waited outside with the line wrapped around the building, but felt like it would be worth the wait. With some pressure of not taking too long to order and hold up the line, I asked one of the workers for an assorted dozen. When I got up to the register the total came out to twice the amount of a regular dozen ($12 vs. $24). Again, not wanting to hold up the line I gave my card and walked out. I looked in the box and realized she picked out all fancy donuts, which are twice as expensive as a regular dozen. We ended up going back in to discuss with the employee because we were frustrated that she gave us a more expensive option without clarifying. After arguing with us for a couple minutes in front of customers, she ended up taking back the dozen and giving us 12 regular donuts and a refund. We understand small businesses are doing everything they can, but it's not right to charge someone the most expensive option without checking with them first. Really not sure what all the hype is about. I've had the chocolate cinnamon twist, the pink frosted cake donut, the cinnamon roll and the donut holes. The twist was not overly sweet, maybe even a little under sweet, and I really couldn't taste the chocolate or much cinnamon. Overall, none of them differentiated themselves from a 7-11 donut. Winner Winner Donut Dinner? Ronald's Doughnuts, located just a couple miles off the Las Vegas Strip, offers basic vegan donuts. It's a quiet little shop owned by nice owners. I walked in wanting some good dough to fulfill my craving. Cinnamon Twist Soy Custard Filled Apple Bear Claw Apple Fritter Apple Burrito Apple Turnover I know I know. I got like four different apple flavored donuts (including a turnover) but I just got what looked popular on Yelp. The Cinnamon Twist, which had a soft dough texture and a cinnamon chocolate flavor, was my favorite because it reminded me of the Tiger Tail from The Donut Man. My second favorite was the Apple Burrito. I don't know if I can consider this a donut but it was decent as well. The outside "shell" kind of tasted like an egg roll shell but dusted with cinnamon sugar and the inside had apple filling. The Apple Turnover was slightly buttery with a good amount of apple filling. The rest of the donuts were nothing bad but nothing extraordinary. So if you ever get that sweet donut tooth at your next trip in the desert and you don't mind driving a little or catching an uber ride, stop by Ronald's Doughnuts. When I travel, I like to find the places where the locals eat. Thanks to Yelp, this is fairly easy to do. No sir, no chains for this Yelper. When in Vegas, eat like the people of Vegas do. We live near Chinatown in Spring Valley and I know the times I have visited Ronald's were amazing; I just cannot confirm how many times my husband sneaks in when he is out and about without my knowledge. His favorite is always something with chocolate with coconut and crullers, the white frosted with rainbow sprinkles, and I am a fan of old-fashioned donuts and glazed donuts. The people who come in are breathless, crazed with love for a donut fix, and often you will see someone dip into that bag before they even get to their cars. They have been voted top donut shop in LV and for good reason...they are delicious and they are also the kind of donuts we grew up with! Their maple bars are just the right combo-a light & fluffy donut with good amount of icing not too much. The kids love the chocolate sprinkles. I love their lemon or raspberry jelly filled donuts. They also have vegan donuts-which are good for vegans. Personally, I can't tell the difference....but they are all good. Like many of the reviews before me-Ronald's isn't a gourmet bakery shop on the Las Vegas strip-so don't think glitz and glamour donut shop. Ronald's Donuts has been on my list of to try for about 3 years, but somehow I have never made it there. The stars were aligned recently, and we were in the neighborhood to drop by. So many to choose from, I was like a kid in a candy store. I managed to put my tongue back in my mouth and picked out a half dozen assortment of donuts. The assortment was delicious. These were not skinny like your Krispy Kreme variety. These were fluffy pieces of dreaminess. I go early to avoid human traffic, and get my donuts fresh, greasy but not soggy, a bit crunchy on the outside, and a bit warm, moist and soft in the inside. I always dust off the extra sugar before i enjoy a donut or two, or three. On occasions, I would give myself an extra treat and get a regular sugar twist. Super happy I did. It's a small little shop with all the donut basics. I was a little underwhelmed actually however, they're absolutely delicious. We left with a Buttermilk glazed, white frosted with rainbow sprinkles and a monster cinnamon glazed twist. All of which are now happily added to my winter weight gains. Anytime I travel, I always search for the hottest spots to eat. While on my search, I came across Ronald's Donuts. When I saw that they had vegan creme filled donuts, I was sold! I came in on the final morning of my Vegas trip, and was in need of a delicious breakfast to get me through the drive. I came in to Ronalds around noon, and it was packed! More than half of the choices were vegan, so I was overjoyed to see a large crowd of people ordering vegan treats without even knowing it! Point for the vegans!!!! No offense to those that wrote other reviews, but Ronald's Vegan Donuts beat those in Portland from Voodoo, those in Seattle from Mighty-O's, and those in Berkeley, CA. These are the best VEGAN donuts anywhere. I won't even compare them to store bought ones. The fact that Voodoo Donut's in Portland can't even make a cream or jelly filled donut should tell you something about Ronald's! These are the real deal, Dunkin Donut fried style, not the cake-like vegan one's you're used to. Best. Donuts. Ever. Plus, vegan? Yes, please. Ronald's has the trifecta of fabulousness: great donuts, cleanliness (pristine), and great/friendly service. I will definitely be back. I'd go back right this moment if I weren't 650 miles away. Best buttermilk bar of my life! Plus, I have to add--a couple people said something about Ronald's being located in a sketchy area. Really? I am dreaming of Ronald's Donuts when I got home after last Las Vegas trip. I am willing to drive 4.5 hours to just buy donuts. It is that good. The donuts here are soft and pillowy. When we were there, a lady from Alabama bought 2 dozens to take home. She said there is no good donut in Alabama. She said that she has not searched the entire state yet but she believes there is no good donut as good as Ronald's. I believe her. I did a donut test. We bought a dozen. The first time we ate them on the premise/shop, they were so so soft and pillowy. They were not too sweet. I ate 2 just within 5 minutes, basically, inhaled them. We took them in the pink box and drove to the desert. We stored them on top of a mini fridge in the pink box in a desert motel. The next day, we each ate 2 more with coffee for breakfast. Usually, donuts are not good the next day. Not with Ronald's, they are still great the next day. They were not greasy, the pink box was not soaked with oil. In fact, there were hardly any oil spots on the box. I think my husband consumed 2 or 3 more in the afternoon when I was not looking. The 3rd day, the donuts became harder and not as good. They were dried out from by the desert air. We still ate it but we both agreed that 2 days are the maximum. Although, if I had an air tight container, they may still be good. I will have to do that test next time. My favorite is the custard filled with chocolate frosting. Another one I like is the plain glazed donut. My husband likes the bear claws. The jelly filled was also good. Most of them are delicious though, hard to pick. As you know, this place takes CASH only, no problem. The owners are so nice and humble. I will be a repeat customer. I've been thinking hardly to drive 4.5 hours to get my fix of Ronald's. Sigh! read more

You know, I was skeptical that the top two shelves were vegan, only because it's not PHYSICALLY advertised as such, only through word of mouth. However, all of the attention Ronald's has received for having those vegan options has some merit, right? The spot isn't modern, definitely a mom and pop spot, so don't expect ample seating. It's a small and simple store that has donuts and coffee, so I wouldn't go into it with wild expectations. Honestly, I haven't been a vegan forever. I don't know what a vegan donut is supposed to taste like, but these donuts were tasty! I got a soy-Bavarian-filled chocolate donut, a cinnamon twist thing, and an apple bear claw, and my only complaint is that I had to share. As others have mentioned, BRING CASH!
