My son was turning 4 and he wanted a Thomas The Train theme. I had called a few other places that were trying to charge me an extravagant amount of money for the size of the cake I wanted. I called Roobinas a few days before his party and they accommodated me with no problem and charged me a FAIR price. The cake was beautiful! I was very happy with it. But initially the guy had asked if I wanted to use a toy Train rather than have them make it out of fondant because it would cost a lot more so I said a toy was fine. This may have been my fault for not asking but I had thought they were going to provide the toy topper. Also, I asked for a strawberry flavored cake but he said it would take more time so I said chocolate is fine. He said he would make a white cake with chocolate on the inside but when we started cutting it, there was barely any chocolate. I think this was just a miscommunication because I was in a rush to place the order for the cake and so I didn't ask the proper questions. But they still did a fantastic job! I have to tell you today was the first time I tried Roobina's bbq to go. First of putting a sign on major street with so many traffic you as a business need to back that up. After so many times passing by just like any other business I wanted to give it a try. We got their beef lule kabab, beef barg and chicken pieces with 3 trays and rice that comes with it. We paid $80 YES $80 unbelievable, overpriced! The rise was the worse rise ever no salt no flavor so watery not Even tasty. The beef kabab no flavor, the beef barg if that is what it was like rubber. I have to tell you it takes a lot for me to write a really bad review, BUT WHEN YOU CHARGE $80 for something that is NOT GOOD that really pisses me off! I got a cake here for my Boyfriend's Mom 60th bday. I couldn't believe they were still able to take my order in a short notice (5 days before the event) which I was very grateful for. Great customer service and I was able to taste their samplers for the flavor of the cake. I chose vanilla hazelnut and all of our guests loved it. The only thing why I didn't give the full 5 stars is because of the color of the cake which caught me off guard when I picked up the cake. I got a custom cake made for my best friend's birthday. They weren't able to do exactly what I wanted to surprise her. The overall cake tasted good, but I expected more from the design. I picked up the cake and they didn't have a big enough box to hold the cake. Getting from the bakery to the venue was extremely tough and the fondant started to droop immediately. Overall, it was good, but I was definitely expecting a lot more. Also communication with the designer was only through text messaging and they took awhile to reply. We recently ordered a three tier Naked Cake & various mini desserts from Roobina cakes. We began the process with a tasting, they were super accommodating and allowed us to choose up to 3-4 difference fillings for our cake. Each filling was delicious and the cake itself was a fluffy white cake. For desserts we got the raspberry cups, mini tarts, mini macarons and cake pops. I don't know how they taste (I didn't have any) but they were all finished by the end of the party - so safe to bet they were good. Lastly, Roobina's team let us borrow trays (w/ a deposit) and set up our dessert table for a fair price. Overall, the price was very fair - I called other bakeries and compared. Bridal shower cake: The day before my event i brought them some fresh flowers for my cake. The day of pick up Roobina and another guy brought the cake to my car and secured it. Cake was supper tasty. After that I sent one of my friends there for her son's birthday cake. That day I felt satisfied and I was sure our wedding cake will be the same!!!!!. Wedding cake: I would never assume that I would get disappointed with my wedding cake since I got a good cake for my shower. The day of my wedding, cake was the only thing that i was not worried about but first thing we walked in the hall i saw the cake!!! Very disappointing!!!! The cake was not straight!!!! The color of the flowers were not what i wanted. There were supposed to have some gold dots on the bottom layer of my cake but you could hardly see them. At first I was very angry but months past and I kind of got over it. But until now, every time I see my pictures and my video I get very angry with my cake. Hello! In my review I am considering three major components, the taste, the customer service and the presentation. Let's start off with a customer service....after some trouble figuring out the location, we were greeted with patience and kindness! Yay. The location was clean and organized . Additionally did I mentioned I ordered over the phone from the comfort of my house? I ordered from across the country, Washington DC, and unfortunately could not come into the store to see examples of cakes. I called in the store and then after a few missed calls I received a text message asking me about my order. It was super convenient to submit an order via text given and I work full-time and on eastern time zone. They helped me pick the size and flavor. I was able to provide the $50 deposit Over the phone and then pay $100 ones I picked up the cake. There is a sure surcharge for using your credit card so bring cash(which I believe there are some rules against the surcharge in the city of Los Angeles but I didn't mind), given I was already being accommodated over the phone, I didn't mind! Unfortunately given I was so far away I was unable to obviously taste any of their pastries or sample any of their cakes. I chose one layer as strawberry and one layer of hazelnut. Unfortunately this is what causes the low rating, the cake was extremely dry and the frosting was extremely sweet and tasted like the type of frosting out of a can from the store. I didn't necessarily feel like the fruit was very fresh either, which was unfortunately given the cost. Given that he's most of my guest did not eat the cake. Because of this I'm knocked two stars because after all, Cake is meant to taste good and a big part of the party....unfortunately it was not the best. Moving all the good: the cakes presentation was amazing!!!! I got a naked cake ...I brought in some fresh flowers that I purchased at a florist in Glendale and bam!!! When I arrived with the flowers it took about 10 minutes from them to arrange them for no extra charge. The cake was much nicer than what I expected and all my girls are very impressed and continuously took pictures with the cake and set up. Overall the customer service was great and it looks very pretty but the taste was unfortunately not so great. No one wanted to take any home and I'm fortunately I got stuck with a big chunk of it.
