We tried Roost at Fall For Greenville last year and loved it. We decided to celebrate my hub's first Father's Day at the restaurant. We try very hard to eat as local and sustainable as possible, but still crave all things chicken wings/pizza/etc., Roost seemed to fit the bill. Read the reviews beforehand and tried to go with an open mind, but was a little nervous. So happy to report we had a great experience. We had requested a table on the patio and even though it was PACKED and we were running a few minutes late, our table was there. The first one they had was pub-height, but we had our little man in his carseat with us and weren't comfortable with that. I don't know what they did, but somehow they made a regular table available in record speed with a little area to accomodate the baby. Our view was spectacular, can't say enough about the ambiance. Most important, however, was the food. Hubs is a big microbrew fan and frequents the local beer tastings/craft beer stores, he was very happy with the beer menu. We got the wings, duck tacos (my favorite, amazingx3), mushroom pizza, and fries with smoked salt. Everything was fantastic and, considering how busy it was, came out in a reasonable amount of time. Seems they might have had some kinks to work out when getting going, but they definitely seem to be getting into a groove. Can't wait to head back! read more

Roost is one of my favorite restaurants. Having said that, it is only fair for the reader to understand my profile. I generally visit Roost when in Greenville on a business trip while staying at the Hyatt. Cost is generally not a consideration as I am on an expense budget, and the restaurant is very convenient after a workout and shower. Further, I can maintain my perfect 73 degree F atmosphere as I shuffle from my room to the restaurant. (Remember those cold, cold winter days?) I like the idea of local organic restaurant since we try to follow the same practice at home. The chef's creations are very delicious. My favorite cocktail is the spicy margarita. read more

My Wife made a reservation here to celebrate my 50th birthday, and this place definitely did not disappoint. Never having eaten here before, the food, atmosphere, and service were well in line with the $$$ price range. Despite this being located at the Hyatt downtown, and a very popular establishment, our server was attentive and the food arrived in a timely manner. Was in town for some work and went to dine at the bar. Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, on top of accommodating for my gluten free needs. Wine list fit the food, and atmosphere very nice. Staff swam happy and egger to work!! I would go back again. read more

Our mac and cheeses were outstanding, our pork chop was tender and juicy, and the collards, if garlic-heavy, were tangy and unique. Paul, our server, however, was curt and assuming, bordering on rude. Ask for someone else if you plan on dining here. We came for the Father's Day Brunch and Roost did not disappoint! We were very impressed by the level of attention and service by our server Felice and chef Daniel. Someone in our group had very restrictive dietary needs, so Daniel came out and talked with us and was able to prepare a delicious meal that accommodated the dietary restrictions. Visited this restaurant last night with friends. The service was very slow but once Rex got started taking care of us it improved. She has a fun loving attitude and really enjoyed her waiting on us. The food is ok not my favorite. I do not think they have enough on menu to choose from. The pecan pie was good but was cold and would have been so much better warm. I enjoy being there because they are where you can walk right into the hotel and see all the pretty Christmas trees. I did enjoy that. My drinks were good but the bartender forgot to add a stirrer to all our drinks but Rex corrected that quickly. This was me and my husband's first time here. The location is beautiful and the patio seating is a huge bonus. We were greeted by a very friendly, smiling host and he immediately set the tone. It was my husband's birthday and our server, Melanie, made him and us feel so special! She gave some great recommendations on food and wine. It was clear she knew her stuff. The strip steak she suggested was fantastic and the mushroom pasta was another winner. She offered a birthday dessert and my husband wasn't in the mood so instead she offered a birthday drink which I thought was very accommodating. He got a whiskey and was a happy man. If this is any indication of how all experiences are here, then you can count on us returning with service like that. read more

This place gave me the most amazing service I've experienced in Greenville! I believe my servers name was Matt, and he was wonderful. I tried their "Zpaghetti with Veat Balls" (a vegetarian dish), and it was extremely disappointing. However Matt was more than accommodating and I switched to a Caesar salad, which was good. I can't say that the food blew my mind, but the service was really awesome and the place had a nice inside. Prices are pretty good for one side of the menu and a little pricey for the back. read more

What a nice place to relax and enjoy a great dining experience. The servers were attentive to our dietary restrictions and made suggestions on making a dish gluten free. My wife really enjoyed her scallops and my beef short ribs melted in my mouth. The sides were also very delicious. I ordered the Honey Mustard Chicken with sweet potatoes and green beans. The chicken and sweet potatoes were amazing! The green beans didn't have much flavor. The atmosphere was really nice! Went there for lunch. Tried their vegetarian options. Veggie burger was horrible, couldn't finish it. Patty tasted like refried beans, no flavor. Squash hummus was alright, pita chips were good. Decided to eat on the outdoor patio, while listening to live music in the square. Started off with the Charcuterie platter for an appetizer. Very well put together, although they only had one type of cheese in the platter. My son ordered the meat loaf 2.0, large portion of a fantastic meat loaf. I had the fried chicken and dumplings with the collard greens. A wonderful meal with extremely large portions!!!! I would definitely recommend the Roost, to anyone coming to Greenville. read more

After the first trip to Roost for breakfast (very disappointing), I returned to try again with three friends for dinner at Roost (a Saturday at 8:00pm). The Pork Chop, Shrimp & Grits and Cobblestone Chicken were quite good. I had a recommendation to get the Pimento Cheeseburger but it was not on the menu. The mixed drinks were fair. Being told it was a "2 hour" wait for inside seating, we joined the scrum for outside open seating, even though the sign outside said to see the hostess for seating. Confusion. And the place did not look that busy for a 2 hour hour wait. As before, service was erratic. Friendly and eager staff but obviously lacking something - training, experience or consistency. Lots of staff running around bumping into each other. The clearing/bussing of tables was really slow and it took our waitress over 15 minutes to show up, only to hand out menus. So, I took up duty running back and forth to the bar to get drinks for our table. Again, the bathroom was a mess, with used paper scattered throughout. After finally ordering, our meals arrived promptly. I must compliment the food-runner guy, he was clearly a track star in getting the meals fresh from the kitchen, not only for us, but the whole place. In my prior review, the manager replied to come back and try again. We did. I hope they get the kinks worked out, Greenville will appreciate the good food, but will shun the poor service and sloppy cleaning. At least the decor and location is great. read more

We just had an extraordinary experience at Roost in downtown Greenville! My husband and I dined on the patio and enjoyed the Sunday Brunch. Our waitress, Tabitha was not only friendly and professional, but when we ordered a burger for our dog who was dining with us, she presented it in perfect bite-sized pieces on a bed on lettuce with a dish of fresh water! My husband raved about his fresh made-to-order omelet and I adored the roast leg of lamb which, for me, really made the breakfast buffet stand out as one notch above "top notch"! The staff is wonderful, the chef knows what he is doing, and the prices for downtown Greenville were very fair. read more

Very nice atmosphere. Service was at par at best. Disappointed in the food available for brunch though. We didn't take advantage of the custom omelettes, but found the brunch servings lacking in selection, similar to what would be found at a regular complimentary hotel breakfast. Only scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, grits, biscuits and gravy available on the breakfast side. No other meats (sausages, ham, etc). Pulled pork, boiled shrimp and collard greens were available as lunch selections. The bloody mary bar had a couple of olives, a couple of peppers and bacon as garnish selections. The food was good, but it was what you would expect for a $9 buffet at Shoney's or Denny's; definitely not a $20 meal or $9 cocktail. read more

We had a lovely lunch at the Roost sitting out on the beautiful patio overlooking Downtown Greenville. Our wait staff professional Morgan was the best ever. Has maintained quality, freshness and service over the years. Worth trying out. Super open venue and view of chefs and downtown. Good staff. The bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and provide excellent advice for your drinking pleasure. I highly recommend having a Hemingway, or as it is also called, a type 4 daiquiri. I haven't sampled the food other than some of the starters, but those have always been fantastic. read more

When my friends and I came for a Sunday breakfast we were shocked at the service. First two of our friends did not get their food and we asked a multiple times for it. One girl completely did not get her meal and another just wanted a bagel and cream cheese. The friend with the bagel took 20 min for cream cheese to arrive by which time the bagel was a rock. The other girl who did not get her meal they apologized and offered her the buffet gratis for the mistake. But what made it 3 stars is on top of this which they tried to correct we accidentally spilled water and a waiter that was not ours walked past us twice and did not over help. The food we did get, other than the bagel, was good unfortunately the multiple service issues made the experience so poor overall. read more

I seriously can't rave enough. We made Sunday afternoon reservations for brunch with the intentions of ordering off the menu we looked at online and when we got there the manager told us that they were only serving brunch buffet which we were a little iffy about. But he gave us a "tour" and walked us down the buffet and told us everything that was on it. We agreed and he sat us. It was hands down the most incredible brunch we've ever had. There was a fruit/salad bar, bagels and bread, grits, bacon, pulled pork, honey glazed ham, vegetables, mac and cheese, salmon, dessert, waffles, French toast casserole, the list doesn't end. It was top notch. Adult buffet was $20 but our waiter claimed I didn't eat enough for an adult priced buffet and put me on the bill for a kids buffet which was $10. Everyone was so kind.
