I JUST returned home from dining here. I was going to give a generous four star review based on the food, but those that know me well know that I always factor in customer service. Because of this, they receive only one star. At the end of the meal I headed to register to pay. A (much) older gentleman took my card and ran it through one of the dustiest machines ever. Very slowly, as well, I might ad. The screen read 'card read error' and so the man entered the information from my card manually. The man then slapped down the credit card reciept and said, "declined!". Shocked, I told him that was impossible. He shrugged and turned to enter it manually again. While he's doing all this work, my adrenaline is pumping and I'm becoming more and more embarrassed. There were no less than 8 other patrons behind me waiting to pay. I'm talking to him and he's just ignoring me--real nice. I'm watching this fool, closely. When it came to the point where the machine asks for the cards billing zip code, he takes it upon himself to enter 97501--NOT my zipcode. He then loudly declares that the card has been declined again and tosses the receipt on the counter. At this point I confront him about the zip code. He ignores me and says that he'll run it "one more time". I'm furious. I'm embarassed. I'm about to throw a pie. And then.... he asks me for my zip code and, lo and behold, the card is approved when he enters the RIGHT one! Relieved, but still p*ssed, I tell him that this was really embarrasing. He says, "No, it's not embarassing." Excuse me? How can YOU tell ME what's embarassing to ME? I pointed out all the other customers and he didn't give a damn--and he didn't give an apology. He merely said, "Machines mess up." But it wasn't the machine! It was YOU!!!!!!! YOU made me look like a fool for no reason. Completely ridiculous, to say the least. When you make an ass out of a customer and the fault is yours, you need to own up to it. I like the fact that they have a "People love us on Yelp" sticker on their door. Well, not this person. I would love a reply from the owner so I can tell them just how little I love them right now. And you know what, it's really too bad this happened because I loved their home made scone, eggs benedict, and pancakes. read more

The decor almost left me speechless. Roosters abound (hence the name)! My inclination was to leave. It was dead at 3pm. The ripped upholstery was held together with duct tape in most of the booths. The lighting was dim and the atmosphere seemed thick, weighted down by a hundred years worth of cooking with heavy oils. And let's not even get into all the kitsch littering any available space along every wall! It isn't a far stretch to say the place is in desperate need of a makeover. You can imagine my surprise, however, when the food turned out to be quite good. I ordered the chicken fried steak and my husband ordered pancakes (which they were out of) and a veggie sandwich with fries. Very large portions, all orders. And even tho I didn't have any, their pies looked amazing! The wait staff was very attentive and friendly (except for some strange man who didn't seem to know what he was doing or where he was supposed to be). This is a real meat-n-potatoes kind of place, very good eatin' So, if you can get past the granny-died-in-here-and-her-cat-was-found-eating-her-face vibe the place exudes, you'll enjoy the food. read more

Very upset with this business and the woman who represented herself as the owner. I purchased a certificate for a pie at the restaurant. One of the certificates where you pay $7.00 and get a $13.00 pie. The certificate did have an expiration on it in 30 days. I was called out of town on an emergency for 3 weeks and was 4 days past expiration and she would not honor any part of it even thou I paid for it and explained the circumstances. Elmers and Applebees have similar deals and they always honor theirs past the expiration dates, I am assuming because the customer actually pays for these certificates. I have never tried this restaurant and explained to her that I was actually not going to just pick up the pie, but that my husband and I would also purchase meals there first. She just flat out said "no". Her reasoning was because she is not a corporation. Terrible customer service and it is obvious she has never had a business before. I understand she was an employee who bought the restaurant from the retiring owners. What a poor business decision. read more

I literally started a Yelp account just to leave a comment about my service at Roosters. I went to breakfast with my boyfriend. Our server Ashley sat us took our drink order which took her forever to get, we ordered a chicken fried steak which was HUGE and talked about cinnamon roll. She never checked back on us to see how the food was, we had to keep asking for coffee refills, because she was to busy talking about some custody case or something with the customers across from us. After she left their table I heard one say WOW she's a piece of work. She was so rude every time we asked for anything. Right before we left we found out that was the owners daughter clearly that is the only reason she got the job. Maybe her mom should pay her to stay home. FOR ANYONE THINKING ABOUT EATING HERE, MAKE SURE YOU DON'T GET SOME GIRL ASHLEY TO WAIT ON YOU. SHES HORRIBLE. read more

The owner and the daughter Ashley is very disrespectful I was having lunch with my mom when I witnessed Ashley yelling at one the employee telling her mood is killing Ashley's vibe and basically telling the employee to get over feeling sad cause her mom has just died causing her to leave and the owner joined in with some rude comments (Dill is my fav) that happened a few weeks ago and today Ashley was extremely rude to a customer for no reason at all. Idk how Ashley has any say she's only in 2 hours out the 2 weeks she's there and seems like this is an on coming thing whenever Ashley toxic self is around Bad for business just keep Ashley from the restaurant. read more

out of pancakes by 3pm. yeah. anyway, hubby got the chicken fried steak and a cinnamon roll. he said it was 7.5/10. since they were out of pancakes, i got the veggie sand with fries. yummy fries! waitstaff excellent...very nice waitress. but there was a real creepy vibe inside...grandma's cottage. little red riding hood came to mind. and this really old and gruff man (an employee) kept walking around (the place was dead)...seeming to not know his place there. kept coughing all the time (smoker's cough). anyway, i guess we'd be back...if we're in medford again and we've tried every other restaurant in town. read more

Their Cinnamon rolls were amazing. The foods such a large portion you can split it. And great coffee. Unfortunately the service was awful. We waited awhile to be sat and they weren't full and the. We got sat and ordered our drinks our drinks came and then she said I'll be right back to take our order . Well she took someone else's order who came after us order and then starting bussing and cleaning tables . As we sit Their with our two year old waiting. It was frustrating and it took her a really long time to finally come back to us. I almost left. It's a great place to eat they just need to re train their staff. read more

Tried Roosters for the first time today. I had the Chicken breast sandwich and potato wedges which was very tasty, and my girlfriend had the chicken potpie. Our server Samantha was great she checked back frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. Once we were done eating she said we had to try the Marionberry cream pie which has to be the best pie I've ever eaten. I will be back. read more

I know people say all the time that restaurants have "the best cinnamon rolls", but Rooster's has THE BEST CINNAMON ROLLS. Get there early because they only make a limited amount every day. Staff was super friendly and everything else was great as well, we will be back for sure! read more
