Prob my favorite place to eat in the Denver airport. And I don't like eating in airports. This place always has ample seating so you if need a break between flights and a meal it's a good place to stop. The food is absolutely delicious with really big portions but that also comes with a heavy price tag as most airport restaurants do. The service is also exceptional here and you won't be waiting long for anything you need. It can get packed from time to time. Normally I avoid eating at the airport at all cost but if I must I don't mind stopping in here

Went for Valentine's dinner where they had a special menu for couples. What a delicious evening of great food, service, and wine pairing. Unique menu items for Valentine's dinner was worth it. Definitely save room for dessert, they had great options!

Great tasting food with healthier options. Decent prices considering the quality! Quick service and something for everyone. I'd definitely recommend eating here!

This was not what I expected but was quite surprised. The setting is rustic modern with a sense of high end dining but in a casual way. The bar was prevalent to the right as we entered. We were coming from an event and didn't have a reservation. Though the place was relatively empty likely they had space reserved and we were sat at the back of the bar in an awkwardly positioned "booth". The party sitting as we were sat decided to leave before ordering. Looking at the menu I noticed a beet salad and my sister loves beets so I figured she would be okay. The menu is select but a choice for all diets, but limited. My sister had the beet salad and I ordered the chicken opting to not take the waitresses suggestions. The food was surprisingly well seasoned and tasted good. We both ate all of our food with the highlight being the bread appetizer. This is more suited to those who are foodies. Not a steak and potatoes kind of place. Bring your refined palette

Super cozy and welcoming spot in Denver. My friend and I walked in on a Sunday evening and were able to get seated without a reservation. Their bar area is beautiful and we enjoyed our dinner sitting there. I started with their bean salad which was super fresh and had a lovely vinaigrette. We then shared their brussel sprouts, gnocchi and scallops. All of which had unique flavors and tasted fresh. I also really enjoyed my ginger/coconut mocktail! We ended the night with amazing chocolate chip cookies and a scoop of ice cream. Service was perfect and we would definitely come back.

For me, Root Down was just OK. We went for brunch and the menu had lots of allergy friendly food for my friend. The cocktails looked great, but I stuck with coffee and Diet Coke (which came in a carafe). The food I will say was pretty average, the veggie burger sliders were OK but the sweet potato tots were yummy. Don't care too much to come back here but was a fun environment for a birthday brunch!

Twas delicious. Loved how creative the dishes were, service was attentive. We sat outside which was nice, in a covered area. Best meal I had in Denver.

Loved this place! Very cute spot in LoHi, i had no issues finding street parking and the ambiance is nice inside. They had an amazing menu with extensive tasting options great for sharing. The drinks were so yummy and unique, we love a good craft cocktail. I believe i tried the dazed and confused and one other mezcal cocktail - both were unique and delicious, and decently strong! We tried the lamb burger sliders - amazing! And the sweet potato tater tots, also delicious. Really interesting with the sweetness. We tried the aguachile appetizer. The fish was fresh but i wasn't blown away by the flavors and textures on that one. We opted for the strip steak which was also good and cooked well but i don't think i would order it again. The apps are where it's at for sure. The service was great, can't remember my servers name now but she was so friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back and try more plates.

I literally came from KC just for their banana cream pie... it has always been my favorite dessert... and theirs is hands down the best I have ever had. And honestly... everything else on the menu is fantastic too. The arepas are one of my must-order items every time I am in town.

I really like this place a lot. The decor and atmosphere is fun and funky. The food is great. What more can you ask for? I came for the happy hour last time and everything was delicious and more affordable. I tried the tater tots, arepas, beet salad and lamb sliders. All were very flavorful and delicious

If you're looking for a healthier, fancier dinner spot, Root Down is a solid option! I came on a weeknight for dinner and was seated immediately. The ambiance here is fancy, which makes the perfect date night spot! Service here is attentive and friendly and we really appreciated that they were able to accommodate dietary restrictions. We ordered the bison New York strip and the pesto gnocchi. You can tell that the ingredients are fresh and healthy. Taste wise, nothing blew me away but with that being said, it was still enjoyable. The food is a bit pricey for what it is, in my opinion. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to check this spot out, but I wouldn't be opposed to returning either.

Ask the Community - Root Down

Do they have ramen at this location like at the airport?

Was at this location less than a month ago and there was not a ramen item on the menu. They do however have a "chefs special" menu that is presented once you sit that I assume rotates around.. but cannot guarantee ramen would be on there.

Reservations for brunch?

You can make reservations for brunch. I would suggest making reservations since the seating is limited and brunch on the weekends is very popular.

Are there heat lamps outside?

Yes!

I have a severe peanut and shellfish allergy. Can Root Down accommodate those allergies?

HI - I have a shellfish allergy and they have handled that well. I assume that they can also handle peanut allergies. I have a high degree of confidence, respect and admiration for their kitchen. We dine there a few times each year.

Is there a corkage fee?

Root Down does not allow any outside alcohol.

Are the outdoor heaters strong enough to keep you warm on a moderately cold winter evening?

I have not sat outside yet... but being naturally cold and a native, I always tend to dress warmer just in case.

Is it dog friendly for the patio? And are there heaters?

Heaters yes, dogs no. It's such a bummer

Do they serve breakfast/brunch?

Yes, they have brunch on Sat/Sun

Are bottomless mimosas served during a Sunday brunch?

Yes, bottomless mimosas are offered during both Saturday and Sunday Brunch!

Do they do takeout?

Pretty sure I saw someone picking up a to-go order last time we were there.

Will Root Down be open November 23rd?

Why not call them and ask?

Do they do gluten free?

Yes! And they do it very well!

When is brunch? Only on Fri, Sat, Sun?

Friday, Saturday and Sunday...according to my experience and their website.

Do they deliver?

No they don't

Are dogs allowed on the outdoor patio?

Yes, it's suppose to be Dog Friendly establishment. I've been to happy hours and lunch on Fridays, never have actually seen a dog there. Call and ask they are really decent to deal with.

After reading other reviews and checking out photos beforehand, I knew the Colorado lamb was a must-order. It's not something I usually go for, but it ended up being my favorite dish of the night. Absolutely worth the hype. We also ordered the birria short rib and hickory smoked picanha, and both were solid choices. The shrimp and corn grits were amazing, and I really loved the aged cheddar mac and cheese. Other dishes like the chickpea croquettes and the chili relleno were also pretty good and rounded out the meal nicely. The wait staff was fantastic. Super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The restaurant itself has a cool, lively vibe. The only minor downside was that the outdoor heaters were a bit too hot, but that's a very small nitpick. Overall, an easy 5 out of 5 stars. Great food, great service, and a place I'd happily come back to.

I asked if it could be done without meat and our server said no - that it was premade. Honestly, this was just okay queso. Definitely not authentic or anything like actual queso fundido. Would not order again. The soup was good! Not the best I've ever had but definitely good. The only thing was we ordered a soup but didn't specify and got the small size. I would specify a bowl if you want a meal sized portion. The grilled cheese that came with it was tasty! The chicken Caesar wrap was fine. Portion is sorta small but glad it comes with a side. Nothing too special. Overall the place is nice, staff is friendly and food is fine. I wouldn't particularly want to return but if a friend suggested, I'd give it another shot.

The server gave us a lot of info like telling us which food dishes were James beard award winning. The breads were yummy but very small and the server came around to distribute it to us individually. We tried the fresh bacon first -- it's basically a piece of pork belly in a garbanzo bean mush with butter / oil around it. I liked the bean mush the most, it added a lot of flavor to the pork. The pork is actually pretty similar to a piece of Kalua pork, we were eating with some Hawaiians and they thought it was just like kalua pork minus rice. I ordered the artichoke tortellini but it was extemely rich and I was a bit shocked by how creamy it was. Served with small pieces of artichoke hearts and some cheese. I found it was best if you ate it with a bit of the broth as it adds a lot of flavor that balances the super creamy tortellini. I loved the dessert-- it's basically a chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. Some of my table mates ordered the peas and carrots dessert and it looked really interesting kind of like a salad. I took off a star because they seemed to keep clearing only half the table and taking away our silverware without giving more. We found ourselves short of utensils a few times! There could also be more clear signage about where the bathroom is.
