    Medium Deluxe Pizza
    Sharon H.

Pizzas are unique, but a little pricey. This is my first time trying a Birria Pizza and an Elote Pizza and both are delicious. The consomé that goes with the Birria Pizza was my favorite. They also have the typical pizzas you'll see, like the Deluxe and Hawaiian. My family enjoyed the Birria Pizza the most. The only thing that was mediocre is the crust. The crust was a bit too chewy and doughy for me.

Quality/Quantity - Wow, I mean wow! Interesting fusion pizza place. Who comes up with these recipes? They deserve a raise! We got the extra large 1/2 Elote 1/2 Popcorn Chicken (Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken) pizza and it was so so good. My favorite of the two was the popcorn chicken pizza, but the elote was also so good. Popcorn chicken pizzas have a very slight kick to it, just enough to intrigue your interest, but not overpowering. Both of the flavors were spot on. Now I have to come back to try the other signature flavors. We even discussed buying the $40 pizza bag just to get that $5 off each large pizza... NY style pizza? Maybe your classics? Umm, it is more like fusion style pizza if you ask me. Also available are: Focaccia pies, salads, pasta, sandwiches, wings, fries, tots (sides), dog pizza (yes for your dog!), and pizza desserts, etc. Atmosphere - Small local business. Indoor and outdoor seating. Dog friendly. Plenty of mall parking. Service - This was a slight miss, but I did not count this against you. The "young" girl asked if I needed anything else and I asked for plates, napkins, a plastic knife, etc. She seemed confused... I then asked again for the stuff and she said "which ones?" I said all of them??? Weird conversation, so weird that I forgot to ask for parmesan cheese, good thing the flavors were so good and unique that I would not have wanted to mess with the original recipes. I also really like the $40 pizza bag idea for $5 off large signature pizzas for life! Too bad I am not here often enough to take advantage. Maybe I should be coming to LA more often?! Price - $34 + tax. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2009 and with your two locations; you got a new regular customer now!

    Buffalo chicken tots: so addicting!

I can't believe it's been nine years since I left my first review here, and wow, the pizza and food just keeps getting better! I usually get the Elote pizza with hot Cheetos crumbs on top, but this time I decided to try one of the other unique specialty pizzas. And since I have to now endure the football season, why not go all out with the caloric intake? I got a medium pizza with half Char Siu and half Taiwanese popcorn chicken, and these turned out way tastier than I expected. The popcorn chicken came with baked basil leaves on top, which was a nice touch. But I have to say the Char Siu won my heart. I love barbecue chicken pizza, so this was very similar, except with hoisin sauce, spicy mustard, and "char Siu" which tasted more like al pastor to me but I'm not complaining! Hoisin sauce on pizza WORKS! And the spicy mustard was the chef's kiss. Sprinkle some of that pickled onions on top and you have a mouthwatering slice of pizza. For tater tots lovers, the buffalo chicken tots were really good. It felt a little pricy ($9) but it's a great appetizer to share. The service was fast and efficient with a text to let you know your food is ready for pickup. The guy working the cash register was friendly and hooked it up with a side of buffalo sauce. This place also has craft beers on tap ranging from $5-7! Harland Japanese Rice Lager, anyone? Thanks, Rose City Pizza, for making Sunday football more bearable for me. You da real MVP.

So I came here with high expectations wanting to try the elote pizza with my foodie son and my wife. Son and wife did not want to try the elote pizza so we then started to think about doing a half/half pizza. Unfortunately, there are no prices ANYWHERE in this building. Is the price of the Signature pizzas the same as the Classic pizzas? One of the thoughts was that we would get a small pizza and a couple of side dishes and share but without knowing the cost of individual plates, what would be a reasonable amount of food and cost? I asked about the birria grilled cheese and it was $16 but I was also thinking about getting Buffalo chicken tots. No pricing so I got frustrated and we just ordered a Meaty pizza. It was good. Not going to drive to Rosemead or Covina for it but it wasn't bad. I don't understand why they would not post prices. What are they afraid or embarrassed by? Even if you want to put it on the paper foldout but nothing. Even the beer was a chore. My son asked for the Japanese lager and I asked if they had a dark beer to a surprised look and then a comment to his coworker... do we have a dark beer?

Came here for take out. It is in the large Rosemead Plaza. The BBQ Wings were large and the sauce has a kick to it. The Pizza Crust was good. I was surprised by the flavors of the Elote. The deluxe was really tasty with the vegetables.

Who doesn't love creative and unique pizzas??? And Rose City has long delived on the unique pizzas! Tried the Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken tonight which is very tasty and also got the proven elote pizza which is a nice option when you don't want any meat toppings. One small critique is for the Caesar salad dressing as it can be a bit better tasting and you need to ask for a side of Parmesan cheese when taking the salad to go as they put the crutons and dressing on the side.

Half elote with hot Cheetos and Al pastor.

I do not live close to this place and wish I did! This pizza place a wonderfully different from all others! It's Italian with a Mexican twist! I love it when cultures are combined together. Inside is cozy. There's enough room for small parties to eat inside. The service is so friendly and fun! We got a half and half pizza of elote and Al pastor. Both were tasty! I do miss this place and I'm going to have to make a fun road trip to get another pie to enjoy!

Half Elote w/ Hot Cheetos, Half Al Pastor (medium)
    Linda L.

I ordered my pizza online and despite the order saying that it would take 25-30 minutes, I got a notification saying that it was ready in 15 minutes! Great! I got the medium Signature pizza with 1/2 Al Pastor and 1/2 Elote w/ Hot Cheetos. Adding Hot Cheetos to the whole pizza would cost $4 but since I got half, it was an extra $2. Total for a medium pizza was $30 so it's a little pricy, but I understand why - these are such unique flavors and toppings! A medium pizza is good for about 3-4 ppl. My favorite over the 2 was the Al Pastor, like eating a taco on top of a pizza. There's tables and beer / boba if you wanted to enjoy a pizza with your friends. They also sell chili oil at the counter if you want extra spice. I def want to come back and try other flavors.

So i'd have to say I m a bit of a Pizza. Being in LA have had lots of great pies from various Pizza spots - Casa Bianca of Eagle Rock, Pizzeria Mozza, Zelos Pizza ( great cornbread crust) and local spots such as Pizzanista, Luggage room and Tomato Pie. So I ve been eyeing the reviews of Rose City and was intrigued to give it a go. Keep in mind I ordered delivery so that can tale away from the quality of a good pie. That being said opted for a Green flash after seeing a margherite with pesto ( pesto on pizza is underrated imho)...pizza arrived on time and was warm but overall can't say this was well made? Pesto was laid on liberally and the garlic was a bit overpowering. I really wanted to like it, but overall found this to be a letdown. I willingly note that this was delivery and came warm, so would love to give it another go...just maybe will avoid the green flash the next time...

Yum!! I love corn and now there's an elote pizza?? For a medium sized Elote Pizza came out to be around $23. Not too bad.. Feeds like 3 people. 2 slices each. Overall the pizza was made super quickly (15 minutes, called over the phone). Staff were friendly and interior of the store had seating so if you wan to hangout and eat pizza you can!

Still one of my favorite spots for pizza in the SGV. Their elote pizza is my favorite here and it never disappoints! I got a large elote pizza and a large Al pastor pizza for my party of 5 and we destroyed it. Our order was ready within 30 minutes. The elote was just as good as I remembered and the Al pastor was flavorful. We also got a container of the Zinder's chili oil and it was amazing. I would highly recommend getting the chili oil to pair with your pizza if you're a fan of spicy. Definitely try their elote pizza!

We wanted to try 2 different topping for their pizza. We called over the phone to confirm if you still get the consommé for the Birria pizza if you split the topping half and half with something else, they said we would. We realized that they didn't pack any consommé for the half Birria pizza we order after we had left the restaurant for a to-go order. Birria Pizza- meat was well seasoned and full of flavors even without the consomme. I'm sure it would be even better with the consommé. Spinach Pie Pizza- was not the great at all. We only ate about one slice. We added chicken and onion on top of it which helped but wasn't enough. The garlic parmesan ricotta was very heavy and not spread around evenly. It was globbed onto the pizza in large globs, when biting into the ricotta it was just a mouth full of thick solid heavy cream almost. Lasagna Grilled Cheese- had a layer of melted cheese on the top Texas toast, which added a different chew texture to the rest of the dish. If you love bread this is a good plate to pick off on. Definitely heavy and something to share with others. Buffalo Chicken Tots- on the tangier side as I love it to be. If you're not a fan of extremely tangy buffalo sauce, I would stray away.

So excited to finally try this place out after having it bookmarked for 2 years now. - Char-sui Pizza: 4/5 The hot mustard was a nice surprise and set this off. - Birria Pizza: 2/5 Super underwhelming and lacked in flavor. - Elote Corn Pizza w/ Flamin Hot Cheetos toppings: 5/5 This was most of the group's favorite pizza of the night. - Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken Pizza: 3/5 - Jalepeno Popper Pizza: 3/5 - Boneless Wings: 5/5 Perfectly cooked and super juicy. I ordered the medium and was very surprised that it wasn't just a buffalo medium sauce. There were definitely other seasonings on top of the buffalo. - Pizza Fries: 4/5 All in all, I felt like all the pizzas had great flavors. The toppings for each style were very well incorporated. The only complaint I have is the face that I wish the pizzas were hotter. We ordered to eat in the restroom and the pizzas came out room temp. Did not have that cheese pull. I also tend to lean towards a slightly crispier crust for which it did not have. Service was 5/5 though!

The mashed potatoes were incredibly soft, creamy, and full of flavor. We ordered the Margherita pizza and a cheese pizza for the kids, and both were delicious. The pizzas were cooked in a wood-fired brick oven, and you could really taste the difference. The carbonara was one of my favorite dishes. It came with an egg yolk on top that you mix into the pasta, making it rich, creamy, and flavorful. The lobster linguine was another standout dish. We also ordered the pork wings, which were so tender they practically fell off the bone and were served over delicious mashed potatoes. The mushroom ravioli was unique, comforting, and packed with flavor. We also shared the ribeye steak, which was cooked perfectly and was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. What really made the experience special was the service. The owner regularly stopped by to check on our table and make sure everything was good, and everyone working there was friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout the meal. Overall, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was excellent, and every dish tasted like it was made with care and love. We were seated right away, and the place already had quite a few people dining inside. The experience started a little off for me when ordering. I asked for the spaghetti carbonara with added chicken, and was told no because it already came with bacon. I understood that, but I still wanted to add chicken. I then asked if I could order the penne pasta dish with chicken but substitute a different pasta since I'm not a fan of penne, and again was told no. I've been to plenty of restaurants that don't allow certain substitutions, but simply adding chicken seemed like a reasonable request, especially since I didn't mind paying extra for it. It just felt a little strange being told no to every option. That said, the other staff members were attentive and provided good service throughout the meal. The restaurant itself is casual and had a steady crowd while we were there. I also noticed the entire staff working that night appeared to be male, just an observation. The food itself was really good. The baby greens salad, pasta dish, and chicken portobello were all very flavorful and enjoyable. Overall, I left with mixed feelings because the food was solid, but the ordering experience could have been more accommodating. Still, I would recommend giving this place a try because the food definitely delivers.

The cozy and relaxing, dimly lit ambiance and its traditional neighborhood trattoria style and decor, featuring grape clustered garlands and twinkle lights, artfully placed around old-fashioned murals of Italian scenery, as if you're sitting in an open air courtyard of a countryside villa, instill feelings of nostalgia and comfort. That being said, while I'm so happy to finally come back to sit and dine in after like 5+ years post pandemic, and I don't know what all has happened w the owner and her family since then, it really does pain me to say that both the Gnocchi Pesto and the Pesto Pasta w chicken that my husband and I ordered yesterday were terribly sub par. They use the same parking lot as Summerfield so it can get busy at some times. I called in to place an order for dinner and it was super easy and convenient. They also gave us complimentary bread which tasted amazing! I will say that I felt really heavy and full after this meal so this is definitely a cheat meal type of food. Food: Parpadelle Special Pasta (9/10): The noodles are huge and thick and the sauce gets absorbed perfectly. There's mushrooms, spinach, chicken with a white sauce base. They loaded this dish up with sauce which was heavenly. I even dipped my complimentary bread in the sauce because it just tasted that good. The chicken was so soft and wasn't overcooked at all. Between a family of three, there was a perfect amount and didn't have any leftovers. Di Pilla Special Pizza (9/10): Wow, the amount of toppings? Insane. We ordered the medium size which is a 14 inch. There was pepperoni, green peppers, mushrooms, onions, hamburger, and bacon. I had to go back to their menu to see what toppings there were because wow was there a load full. I thought that the mushroom and bell pepper did overpower most of the slice. We had so many slices left over because of how full each slice makes you. I had it the day after and It was still tasty. I need to come back and try their other menu options. They have so many options to choose from which gets overwhelming because everything sounds amazing!

Recently, my son and I have been making pizzas on Friday nights as a bonding experience while my wife is out with friends. We make some, buy one, and compare. My son usually prefers his homemade, but Petrillo's is the exception! He loved the cheesy cheese pizza and the amazing cheese pull. I ordered half cheese and half their specialty pizza, which includes mozzarella, Romano cheese, house tomato sauce, Italian sausage, pepperoni, salami, mushrooms, onions, and green bell peppers. Their small pizza is 12 inches and has 8 slices, which is much larger than other places. Petrillo's Specialty Pizza is stacked with generous toppings and has a doughy but crispy bottom - the best of both worlds. I enjoyed the Specialty pizza, especially the Italian sausage. While I'm not a mushroom fan, I ate them anyway. I'll likely hold off on mushrooms next time. They provide generous amounts of complimentary crushed red pepper packets, paper plates, and napkins. Parmesan cheese packets cost extra, about $0.50 each, if I remember correctly. The staff were friendly and are local residents, which is always great to see in a mom-and-pop business. You can eat in or order from the take-out counter on the right side. It's best to order ahead to avoid a 20-25 minute wait. We were greeted by the host and waited about 2-3 minutes to be seated. There were around 4 or 5 tables that were already seated and/or eating. Setting: typical western restaurant with booths and tables. Quite dark inside. We were sat at a booth but the seats had a bunch of residual bread crumbs on them. We had to ask a waiter/busboy to clean off the seats for us. Food: This restaurant is known for their pizza so we ordered their signature pizza to share. We also ordered the fried zucchini appetizer and the spaghetti bolognese which came with a side (Minestrone soup) There was complimentary bread and butter for the table - it was soft and fluffy on the inside and had a nice crust. But it came out cold. Would have been better if it was warmed up. Fried zucchini: well breaded, came with ranch. Portion size was ok, not too big but not too little either. But quite expensive at $11 for an appetizer that did not WOW the table. Minestrone Soup: average, quite salty, given it is early in the evening, the soup should not be this salty whereas the end of the day usually means the soup has been reduced and concentrated by warming/simmering. Spaghetti Bolognese: plenty of meat in the sauce and pretty tasty as well; but the biggest flaw was that the spaghetti was way overcooked. Huge negative for an Italian restaurant - the base/pasta of your dishes should be perfect and this was far from Al dente. Petrillo Signature Pizza: loaded with toppings, they did not cheap out with the toppings and pretty tasty as well; however, another big flaw was that the dough was dry and dense - the dough did not rise. The yeast in the dough was either non-existent or was not given enough time to rise and create the fluffy dough and crust texture of a typical pizza. We basically got dense flatbread. As this was the signature pizza, it was quite disappointing. Service: Average, nothing great. The servers came by a couple times only after the food came out. Could have really stopped by a couple more time to check in. Rating: 2 stars Review summary is based on mainly food quality as the quality of the food, attention to detail, and execution all was very subpar. Given the kitchen was not super busy on a Saturday evening, the poor quality leaves much to desire.

Delightfully understated atmosphere with unique tiles throughout the decor, and we loved that we could hear each other talk and enjoy each other's company. Our server was amazing, she was so knowledgeable while being personable and extremely funny. I assume she's the cook's wife based on the other reviews - I arrived a little after my aunts, so I didn't get a full introduction since they had already secured a table and had ordered some drinks while looking over the menu. I had my eye on 3 different meat dishes - the Roasted Duck Breast, the New Zealand Lamb, and the Angus Beef Ribeye Steak - and my aunts also had each picked 1 of those, so we went family style, and it did not disappoint!! The chef knows how to cook each type of meat to perfection, and the searing pans are doing exactly what they need to be doing! The Roast Duck Breast was AMAZING as cooked to the recommended medium, with delicious crispy skin. The Angus Beef Ribeye Steak at medium rare was as tasty as it was gorgeous! And the New Zealand Lamb was PERFECTION, down to the bone. We also got the gourmet macaroni and cheese as an add-on side, since all the meals come with mashed potatoes and various veggies, and I was in heaven! As someone who used to work at the Disney Parks and frequented the steakhouses and other fine dining both here and in Orlando, Sage Bistro is giving Disney a run for its money when it comes to high-quality meat dishes! The prices reflect both the cut of the meats and the skill of preparation, with it averaging to about $50 each across the 3 of us, which is pretty reasonable for top-tier quality! The only thing I had to be careful about was that many of the dishes have mushrooms, and my throat gets itchy if I eat most mushrooms, so I had to avoid those dishes. During our meal, when I mentioned it to our server for future visits, she was great at noting which dishes could completely be modified to have no mushrooms while also being realistic about acknowledging the dishes that cannot be, which sadly includes the Braised Short Rib that sounds out of this world. But I can have the Beef Rib Soup, so I definitely want to try that next because I WILL BE BACK!!! They also offer takeaway, and were very generous in giving us each a coupon card to use for ordering through their website.
