This great cafe has become my favorite place to eat on the beach. So let's look at why. First, the view is amazing. Even though we didn't get a seat next to the beach windows we could still see the beach. 2) Second the staff was great. Greated us in minutes, had us seated right away, quick to bring us what is arguably the best coffee on the coast. They were quick to take our order and got it correct and fairly fast. Came by many times to see if we needed anything and clear plates and brought desert fast too. 3) THE FOOD. This is the best part! We both had the Rosanna Burger which is made fresh, not from frozen patties and has wonderful real chedder cheese, fresh tomatoes, onions and ham. Bun was even amazing. I had the asparagus with parmesen soup and it was out of this world; creamy with a roasted flavor. Husband has the chowder which was chunky and full of clams and had a great flavor. Some of the best food I have ever had on the beach. 4) Price. Coffee, Burger with soup for both of us, plus two deserts- $47.00 before tip. About what i expect to pay most places on the beach. 5) Very cute small place so try to go outside the busy times or expect a small wait. Has beer, wine and liquor. As I said it's small, so I would suggest not large groups though we did see them accomadate two groups of six. Worth the drive from Pacific City or Tillamook for sure. I cant wait to go back. Simple food prepared well. My only complaint was the lack of decent bread with the steamers. This was definitely a 3 star experience until we were served dessert! Oh my!!!! Don't let the modest exterior dissuade you from stopping in. The stunning view is only matched by the delicious food and gracious staff. We were in town only two days and came here twice - once for lunch, once for breakfast. Their dishes are clean, fresh and comforting. Our waitresses were friendly and attentive - we truly felt like guests at someone's home. Sit back and enjoy one of the amazing desserts as you watch the ocean's waves from your window-side table. A bit surprised since the ratings were pretty good but our experience was not the greatest. Two of us ordered the halibut and one order was made incorrectly and had to be redone and the other order was just mediocre at best. The service was average at best and for what we received I thought the pricing was high. I don't mind paying the cost for a great meal but this was not it. I won't be going back again. read more

This place was tiny, but delicious. We had crab cakes (tons of crab inside!), baked oysters, and scallops. For the price, the presentation and decor could be improved a little, but the view of the ocean was beautiful. Service was friendly. read more

How can I begin to describe how insanely awful our time was at Roseanna's restaurant in Oceanside, OR? 9/8/14 The first thing I am trying to understand is why this place gets high ratings. What? The uncle and sister were visiting from the East Coast and we left Portland for 4 days to see life on the other coast. Having read the excellent reviews, my uncle wanted to treat us our first night to dinner at Roseanna's. The sister and uncle ordered "FRESH" salmon--asked for it to be medium rare, was told it would be along with the coconut rice and vegetables. I ordered the ROCK shrimp -and was told they would come without the shell which I expected they would be since rock shrimp have an exterior similar to a lobster. The husband ordered the cioppino which was to come with bread. The prices were very high--$24-$26 for salmon--while the salmon are running--and so we thought there would be a serious portion of fish. Not only was the fish the size of a 5-year old's hand-print--it was about ¼" thick...Needless to say it was not medium rare--it was over-cooked and dry--not fresh and tasteless. My "rock" shrimp were not rock shrimp at all but bay shrimp. The coconut rice was broken, over-cooked, without much flavor. The fresh vegetables were not what I call fresh--and seemed to be out of the bag one gets at the grocery with broccoli, cauliflower florets and baby carrots. The vegetables were over-cooked, mealy, overly salted and greasy. The husband's cioppino was fair if somewhat over-cooked. The bread he received was the same brown, unsubstantial airy "loaf" they serve freezer/oven/table at Outback--so glad we did not pay extra money to be served the "fresh" baked bread in addition to our already over-priced meal. When I told the man who was our waiter that the fish was overcooked he looked angry. When I asked him about the rock shrimp NOT being rock shrimp but baby, bay shrimp--he told me that the shrimp was fresh Oregon rock shrimp. I guess I am a stupid Philadelphian and can be hood-winked into believing there are differences in what the east and west call things. Well--according to the internet--ROCK shrimp is not bay shrimp--it is precisely what I thought it was- like little lobster tails. And it was precisely NOT what was on my plate. At any rate--the man waiter did not care. His body stiffened, his face looked upset that we dared give honest feed back when he asked how our meal was. He mumbled, "sorry you're not happy" and left the table. It was clear he was not sorry we were unhappy, only sorry we came in. He later brought the check--and the uncle kindly paid. The uncle was trying to have everything be nice because we were on holiday and visiting one another--so he didn't say much at the restaurant. If I had known then how VERY unhappy the uncle and sister were--I would have walked out of the restaurant. This is the thing--everyone was trying not to make one another uncomfortable and "ruin" the evening by making a stink about the horrible food. It was clear we did not like our food as it sat unfinished when the waiter took it away. And it was clear when I said the fish was over-cooked and the rock shrimp was not rock shrimp that our food was sub-par. And it was clear when the waiter walked away and mumbled we were unhappy--that we were indeed UNhappy. But there was no effort to make things right for us--none. Everyone has an off night--if that is indeed what it was. I suspect it was business as usual--but if it is an off night--just admit it and make it right. Interestingly (or not)--we decided to cook our own food (knowing it would be good) until the last night when we ventured out again to another local restaurant with a much better experience. When we asked our waitress what she thought about Roseanna's she screwed up her face in a contorted wince of disgust--and said, "I think it is absolutely disgusting." I asked her why it got such good ratings? She said she didn't know and that the owners there just didn't care about their customers or their food. "YES--that is it", I said, "They really just do not care." (Curious-- I have just now heard back from the owner at Roseanna's who said their food was fresh and good and that I'd pay more to eat at Shari's. I told her I don't eat at Shari's but I just ate at Screen Door (Portland, OR) with the same 3 people who ate at her restaurant. We had fresh seafood--including jumbo shrimp, trout, and catfish. Yikes. I really wanted to like this place. The beach behind is SO breathtaking, and we'd had a lovely walk along it before dinner. I'll sum up commentary on the decor, management, & waitstaff (small town, twenty years behind, completely overwhelmed). We ordered the ahi tuna special. When the plate came, we both knew something was wrong. The tuna was GRAY & had the perfect grill marks of a frozen piece of fish. Right on the Pacific. Our other dish, the ciopinno, was marginal. Wine was overpriced & underwhelming. We went out of our way to eat here based on previous reviews, & I just don't want anyone else to make the same mistake! Bring a picnic or wait & eat elsewhere. Pricey but worth it. My partner and I have had several fabulous meals here - we always make it a priority when we're in the area celebrating a special occasion. Pros - really fresh fantastic food. When Nate is chef, it's a night to remember. Among my dining highlights are a chicken fettuccine dish with fresh pear, hazelnuts and gorgonzola... their chowder is rich and flavorful and their desserts are TO-DIE-FOR. Coconut cake, lemon sponge pudding, Tres Leches, oh-my-goodness. The Saints on a Wire app (fresh scallops skewered with bacon, served with a garlic aioli) are a perfect start to a great meal. Cons - decor is in need of an update, wait can be long on a weekend night just due to lack of space, and sometimes service can be spotty. It's typically quite good. My partner and I have always felt welcome. I'm glad there's a great spot like this that offers great options. I do think they tend to capitalize on the fact they're the only finer dining nearby so they can price pretty steeply. Still would go back next chance I have. Cheers. read more

Roseanna's was recommended by our motel manager so we planned our anniversary day activities so we could be back in Oceanside for dinner. We got there rather early, at 4:30, but since we had skipped lunch we went right in. It's a good thing we did because two of the four ocean view window tables were already occupied. I ordered the stuffed petrale sole and it was delicious. It came with fresh vegetables and red potatoes and they were properly cooked and very good. My wife ordered a salmon dinner with the same sides and it was all very good. Service was friendly and attentive. For a small rather dumpy looking exterior, the dining room was quaint and attractive. If you are on the Three Capes scenic route, this makes a great stop along the way. read more

OK, so we think Roseanna's food is "wonderful", but their service leaves a lot to be desired. We went there on Friday, 8/17/2012, and our server was extremely slow. She did say she had only worked there for a couple of weeks, so I gave her a break. Then we went back again on Wednesday, 8/22/2012. Again our server was inattentive and had to be asked three times for an ice tea refill. Then when she finally refilled my glass she slammed it down on the table. After dessert she brought us our ticket and disappeared (this wasn't the first time she disappeared during our meal). We waited for her to come back, but when she didn't return, we went up to the front to pay and asked for her. We were told "She went home, her shift was over". What is up with that!! Both times were around 2:30 and the restaurant was not that busy. What do we have to do to get good service in Tillamook County? This is not the only restaurant that has inattentive apathetic servers. I think I will free lance and teach them all good customer service skills. While I can definitely see what some reviewers meant by dated decor (it reminded me of my grandparents' place, with the wood paneling and old carpeting), the food mostly lived up to our expectations. I had the Cioppino, which was full of succulent fish and seafood, but lacking depth in the flavor of the broth. Still, very tasty in general. Hubby had the special, a smoked salmon pasta dish, which was quite dry and lacking in flavor, although a sprinkling of salt and squeeze of lemon livened it up quite a bit for us. The kids were quite happy with their mac & cheese and chicken bites--ate every bite, for which I was grateful, as the kids' meals were quite costly, coming it just under $10 a plate. Ultimately, however, it was all worth it for the marionberry cobbler and the chocolate caramel crunch cake we all enjoyed after our entrees. The best part of the meal, hands down. Probably the best cobbler I've ever had, and that's saying something. My advice is to go elsewhere for dinner and head here for dessert. Dinner is ok, but not worth the $100 price tag for the four of us to dine here. read more
