    Miso carrot cake

Amazing experience at Rosella a couple of weeks ago. We were seated at the bar and served by the bartender, who was incredibly nice. The menu is small and generally consists of shareable small plates/sushi. I tried the following: Food: -Ceviche classic (salmon, persimmon, citrus, coconut milk): super tangy/citrusy dish overall (and it maybe leant a bit heavily on these flavors), but the persimmon lent a sweetness as well. This had something crunchy in it, too-- maybe corn nuts? The salmon tasted extremely fresh. -Bagels-on-Hudson (smoked trout, dill cream cheese, tamago, cucumber): I thought this sounded good but not overly exciting, but - surprise! - it was my favorite dish of the night. This roll was so delicious. The dill cream cheese, cucumber, and smoked fish really did remind me of my typical bagel order, but in sushi form. The soy sauce with mirin was also standout. -Spicy tuna (avocado, jalapeno, herbs, spicy mayo): Maybe not as amazing as the aforementioned roll, but still excellent and very fresh and vegetable-forward. The spicy sauce was really good. -Laksa ramen (spicy shrimp & chicken broth, shredded chicken): I was low-key hoping for more of an Asam laksa. While this was not that kind, it was still very tasty, with springy noodles, a seafood broth, nice spiciness, huge and delicious mushrooms, a boiled egg, and lots of mint. My only gripe was that I found it a bit too salty. -Miso carrot cake (mandarin marmalade, cream cheese frosting): SO gorgeously plated and decadent. The cake was tender and the frosting was almost impossibly light and creamy. -coconut milk sorbet: great flavor with a delicious basil oil, but I also found this to be extremely salty to the point that it was overpowering the rest of the dish. My friend liked it, though! Drinks: -Swick Wines Chillable Red- Light and easygoing. Peppery. Red fruit. -Shichi Hon Yari "Autumn Assassin" Junmai Daiqinjo: A lovely floral sake. Normally only sells by the bottle, but I was able to get a glass!

Done in a very non traditional way but really interesting dishes! Standouts for me were the fish slider (just heavenly umami and buttery bun), sorbet (rich basil and pesto oil, very unique), and the fatty tuna kimchi roll.

I truly don't know that I can express how enjoyable a meal this was in terms of experience. The staff is incredible and felt like we were the best of friends. They're so attentive to a degree that I'm surprised they don't have the star over their sister restaurant (not that I've been). And the layout of the restaurant works so well because you're in constant contact with someone who seems like they want to chat with you in such an intimately personable way. The food itself was astounding, even more-so than I had anticipated. It's a bit pricey but for the experience was worth it. The bagels-on-Hudson and shrimp nigiri were a must for me. The former worked so well and was such an interesting idea.

Love this place so much! 5 star meal every time I go. This time I tried something new, the fish slider, it was so amazing I wish I could eat it everyday.

Rosella isn't bad. It's just vastly, vastly overpriced for semi-creative Japanese fusion. Dozens of restaurants in the city can do the same thing, and many don't charge as much as Rosella does. This is sushi/Japanese designed for rich white people who can afford to travel to Japan but still can't tell you what omakase means, and the prices--and clientele--reflect that. Why else would Rosella charge $21 for a Spicy Tuna Roll? Six average-sized pieces containing nothing particularly unique besides avocado, jalapeno and spicy mayo. Oh, I forgot, they added an herb or something in there. I didn't realize dill now cost $21. We let our server order for us, and he got us almost everything on the not-very-big menu, so I can say with confidence that we tried the best that Rosella had to offer. If you want sushi--whether traditional or fusion--this is NOT the place to go, as not only are the rolls overpriced, but also there are only three options in their "Little Roll" (re: teeny-tiny 6 pieces) category, and three options in their "Big Roll" (re: average-sized 6 pieces--this ain't futomaki), and none of them are that special. You're better off trying the cold and hot dishes. I quite enjoyed the creative Ceviche, which came with scallops and kiwi, while the Crudo with monkfish liver was great. Just be prepared to fork over $23+ each for portion sizes that would be classified as snacks at other restaurants. Also, why the hell is Laksa on a Japanese fusion menu? Rosella shines best in its desserts. The Miso Carrot Cake was moist, fragrant and beautiful to behold, while the creamy Coconut Sorbet came mixed with ginger and lemongrass with a lovely basil drizzle. Get these, whatever else you do. Bottom line: Rosella will undoubtedly appeal to hype-following foodies who blindly spend on omakases while having no actual idea what omakase means. For true sushi, Japanese and general food aficionados, the main impression it will leave is a dent in your wallet.

This place was a lot of fun. The food was really good. The ceviche, crudo pesto, and xo grits were fantastic. Really fun to share but the portion sizes were a bit small. The rolls were very good, specifically the amberjack and ramps(which we ate so fast that we forgot to take a photo of). The soy sauce is fantastic here as well. The service here was very good. The waiters were very nice and gave good suggestions about ordering. The place itself has a nice cozy vibe and the outside area was also very pleasant. A bit cold outside but the heating lamp right above the table did a great job of keeping us warm.

The food was delicious. Extremely savory. Very different than the normal sushi that I've had. You can tell everything is made with care in house. We were very full from the depth of flavor in each dish. The pickled mussels sushi was scrumptious. The service was full of attention and care for our satisfaction. I'll be here again.

This was one amazing culinary experience. Reservations were full but we walked in at 5pm on a Wednesday and got seated at the window with a nice view of Tompkins Square Park. Our friendly and knowledgable server Michael curated an exquisite offering of deliciousness for my wife and me who are not very adventurous when it comes to food. The ceviche was out of this world. We chatted with Chef Jeff and Sous-chef Maija who were working in the middle of the room but took the time to come by and check on us. It was an outstanding evening and the highlight of our trip to NYC!

This place really is excellent. The service is great, and the environment inside is super nice bar seating throughout the restaurant I tried the chefs experience, he brought me a bunch of stuff and everything was VERY good. I am not exaggerating when I say I tried nearly everything on the menu today & NOTHING was bad. The food was EXCELLENT. The best dish by far was the grits - so much flavor The fish slider was also super super good The spicy avocado hand roll is ELITE as well. I say go in with an open stomach and open mind and you'll be amazed. Strongly recommend.

Pretty spectacular sushi with a bit of a twist. Rosella comes from alumnus of Uchiko, a famed sushi restaurant from Austin (and one of my favorite restaurants ever), so I had to check it out. Our server was great with helping us navigate the menu since it's a little different from most sushi restaurants. Highlight of the day was probably the pickled mussel nigiri but everything we had was delicious. Overall, highly recommended for those who love sushi but want to tread off the beaten path.

Our favorite restaurant (still!) in NYC- the food is another level and the service is another level. If you have not been, you NEED to try it. So imaginative and delicious. We keep coming for more!

The beef soup is clear and light and the noodles have a delightful texture, with a slight chew and good bounce. There's a good portion of braised beef as well. Tender but a bit fatty for my taste, but given the portion it's not going to kill you. Lamb burger ended up as overkill and will be consumed as leftovers but a quick sampling let me know that it's gamey and fatty with strong notes of cumin. Not a bad thing, but something to note for people that might not generally enjoy lamb or cumin. Black pepper beef rice bowl was solid too. Spice wise, you can calibrate accordingly but I'd recommended at least their regular spice level. Decent amount of tenderized but still chewy beef. Both dishes came with a salad of celery, carrot, cucumber, peanuts and seaweed strips in a light sauce. Couldn't quite figure out the sauce but it was lightly tart and refreshing. Space is clean and modern. Neutral wood, well lit. Service is friendly enough. If you dine in, you order at the kiosk and they'll deliver to your table. We had leftovers that they graciously packed up. Solid choice. I hope they stick around as they do bring a different cuisine to the area.

OMG-I just enjoyed one of the most delicious and flavorful Ahi Tuna Poke Bowls EVER!!! Run, don't…read morewalk to try this! It was so delicious. See my photos. The Ahi Tuna was the perfect and proper color it should be. The flavors were SPECTACULAR-WONDERFUL!!! NOTE: WAGAMAMA has added to their menu, since my last visit, so you now have a RAMEN SELECTION, and other yummy additions. I was too full from my spectacular Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl to try the Korean bbq Chicken Wings ($8.95) but, I will definitely be back to try them!! I'll post menu photos so you have an idea of the delicious food choices. (April 2026) My very first delicious bite of Ahi Tuna had a heavenly garlic flavor, it was wonderful, and the sweet green seaweed with rice only added to the wonderfulness. Vertical slices of cucumber, onion and scallion, also add deliciously to my wonderful Poke Bowl. Toasted sesame seeds, too. SIMPLY MARVELOUS!!! Remember to be sure to mix the poke bowl rice as you eat, so that you mix the rice with the yummy sauce that may accumulate at the bottom of the poke bowl. I usually eat a little while, THEN, mix the rice. This was so good, I had to eat, eat, eat, before I could stop to mix. LOL. That sweet green seaweed was so yummy!! A lovely mix of flavors...the garlic, the sweetness....I LOVED IT ALL SO MUCH!!!! When was the last time you enjoyed a dish so very much that you felt like standing up in the restaurant and telling everyone: THIS IS SOOO DELICIOUS!!!! Well, I felt like that, but I didn't stand up and tell everyone, but I did tell the manager, who happen to come to the table to ask how everything was. And I let him know how much I was enjoying the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl. He explained why and how the tuna was so flavorful. We had a delightful brief foodie chat. What a joy!! The service is very nice here. I like the atmosphere too. And the music, which is cool; it does not interfere with thinking, or having a conversation. I really like it here . The women's rest room was very nice, and clean, with a Dyson Hand Dryer, so no paper towels on the floor. Yay! Helping our environment, too!! And I like the black and white wall paper, too. See my photos My last visit I enjoyed the Pad Thai, and the same non-alcoholic beverage, " Asian Mint Limeade", from the MINDFUL DRINKS area on the beverage menu. ($9.50) (April 2026). A nice treat! It does have a light carbonation (bubbles). This visit my delicious meal was from the BOWLS SECTION of the food menu, it was the AHI TUNA POKE BOWL ($17.95) (April 2026) With warm, and hot weather on the way, I know I will be enjoying this AHI TUNA POKE BOWL again...and again! If you love good food, good service, and a very cool environment, put this location of WAGAMAMA on your list ! (East side) LOCATED On THIRD AVE, at East 39th Street. There is OUTDOOR SEATING, too, with red umbrellas. See my photos. Enjoy yourself here. Totally delightful. There are several locations in Manhattan. I did not know that. I remembered i liked my experience going to one in London in 2024 and decided to go. I love how attentive the wait staff are, a little too attentive. A waitress, she had long hair and a nose ring, approached me when I was just glancing her way during eating. I didn't need anything, but I appreciate the favor. That same waitress gave me my receipt too early like she wanted me to leave ASAP. This was right before I asked to look at the desserts after I finished my meal. A "Would you like some dessert?" would have be appreciated. Cedrick, my principal waiter, was phenomenal. He decided to take care of me after no one was at the hosting desk for 5 minutes after I arrived. I had the chicken potsticker ramen and it was delicious! The potsticker was seasoned very well: my favorite part. To drink, I had the Asian Arnold Palmer and it was a cute drink! Only downside is the sweetness was not even distributed through the drink, even after I mixed the drink. Even though I had an issue with the service, I saw how caring they were (he looked like a manager now) to a family that came after me with organizing their seats and getting a baby chair. I just wished they gave me the same respect instead of rushing me out the door.

We were guided toward the back, past white marble tables with beautiful mustard colored velvet chairs to the long countertop facing the open kitchen. Of course they had classic shio and miso ramens, but they also had a duck tsukumen, a red snapper ramen, a black truffle ramen, and the dish I set my sights on-- the uni mazemen. There were also lots of appetizers and a long list of high end onigiri featuring proteins like scallop lemon shio, A5 wagyu ponzu, and bluefin chutoro on offer. This place was the real deal. Our group shared the tebasaki wings-- so crispy and so flavorful, I could have inhaled a whole plate of these. The salmon, ikura, and apple appetizer that was served in a glass chalice was superb but even better was the bluefin tuna avocado sashimi with wasabi. That one was a winner across the board. And then my uni mazemen, which really stole the show. There was a very generous portion of uni that mixed with the savory sauce and al dente ramen noodles perfectly. This dish was rich, unctuous, and fresh and definitely delivered in value, though it was double the price of most other noodle bowls. Uni is a delicacy. Having just returned from a second trip to Japan I can say this place is really as good as any restaurant I visited in Japan, and it's right here in Murray Hill. These Murray Hill bros are lucky.
