The food is decent. It's a lot better pricing than other places. My only gripe and it's the most concerning one is phone orders I was placed on hold for 30 mins no answer. I walked in and no one was answering phones. Maybe it's best not to have a phone at the business if no one is going to take orders or pay attention to the calls left on hold. I wonder if the owners know of this. They are losing a lot of business and customers that do phone orders. If you do not intend to do phone orders don't have a phone number listed. If you do decide to do phone orders please have someone dedicated to working the phone and placing orders. Or just keep a phone for basic 911 emergency response only and dont list a phone number. You will not, and I mean WILL NOT find a better priced Hawaiian spot on this side of town. Great food great portions at great prices is all you could ever want. Well.. Almost all. The great pricing does come with a small downside which is the long wait. The reasoning, at least from what I can tell is partly due to the smaller staff. And extra register spot would be nice to but that's unfortunately the sacrifice to get their prices as low as they are. Also I can't lie, calling an hour after they open only to find that their phones are already off due to the amount of orders is just a bit annoying but I fully understand why they do that. This is a hidden gem in Henderson! If you want something good and cheap, then this is the place for you. My go to is the spicy Korean chicken bowl extra extra spicy. It comes with rice but you can add mixed veggies or mushroom and onion. The chicken is on point, with a lot of flavor. The chicken is cooked to perfection making it soft with a nice crunch from the skin. While you are here, don't forget to try their spam musubi. They know how to make one good tasting spam musubi, you won't regret it. This place can get busy depending what time you go (usually around lunch) but it's definitely worth the wait. I was really disappointed because I ordered 2 spicy beef bowls but got chicken for both instead. I was surprised that the macaroni salad was way too salty to enjoy. Maybe I just came on a bad day. I'll give it another shot but hopefully I get what I actually ordered and the Mac salad tastes better. read more

Tried the chicken bowl with gravy and got a side of mac salad. The gravy was really thick and had no flavor at all. Not sure if it was because it didn't have any salt or something, but it was very very bland. The Mac n cheese was unfortunately the same. Thick and had too much mayo. Twice the amount that should have been there. A plus is that the portions are great for the price, but sometimes that doesn't work in your favor. Love this place! Whenever I visit Vegas from Miami, I stay with my cousin who lives here. I don't have access to Hawaiian food so this is always the spot I come to because it's close by my cousins place. Let me tell ya, this place hits good! Great pricing for the food. Now it gets busy, so I recommend ordering your food ahead of time. My usual order is the katsu or katsu curry plate with a musubi or 2 & then some Mac salad on the side. I Tried pretty much 75% of the food on the menu, by far the best is the aloha bento. You have a mixture of food. Korean chicken is crispy and has the perfect heat to it. Rib eye teriyaki beef, hot dog and fried spam. Staff is very friendly. Restaurant get pretty full quickly. read more

Come here on the 4th I been coming to this location always and don't have no complaint for the food it's good. Issue is with the lady in the register, we came in tables were empty besides one couple we ordered to go but since it was empty we decided to eat there! This lady was so rude and said well your order is to go and if people come in imma have to ask you to leave , 1st off it was empty beside 1 person 2nd of don't act like I didn't just spent my money here. Ross J's is dangerously close to my school, so whenever I find myself craving Hawaiian food, this is the go-to spot. It's located in the Smith's shopping center on Sunset and Sunset, across from the Ethel M Chocolate Factory. Be mindful that this place is ALWAYS BUSY! Especially so during lunch time! My favorite thing to get is their Spicy Korean Chicken bowl. The chicken is sweet, spicy, crunchy..all that good stuff! It comes with rice, but it's also good if you substitute noodles for the rice. You can also add on some veggies to complete the meal. It is my favorite thing to order on the menu! Their musubi are great too! They offer spam, Portuguese sausage, and chicken musubi for less than $2. The last time I ordered 10 of them and 2 hours later, when I opened the styrofoam, they were still fresh and hot! I know that Ross J's has been around for quite some time. Shame on me, that it took me this long to eat here. I'm in the area from time to time and have been to Blue Fin and Sumo, but never here until recent. The food at Ross J's is comfort island food to me. Here, you can get pretty much the same dishes that the rest of the Hawaiian joints have. But here, the prices are cheap and the portions are huge. We arrived one early evening for a quick dinner with friends. I ended up getting their Loco Moco and Portuguese Sausage Masubi. Total came to about $7, which is a steal. Both were full of favor and did I mention the servings? My Loco Moco had enough rice that was drenched in gravy, topped with eggs, and complimented with two hamburger patties. My boyfriend wanted to try this place out since he's heard so much great things from his boss. We came here on a Monday night and it wasn't too busy. I noticed right away a few tables were not cleaned with plates still sitting there. I ordered the Chicken Katsu and it was the worst I've ever had. It was so plain, no taste at all... I only took 4 bites and said no more. We also ordered a side of lumpia and that wasn't too bad. My boyfriend ordered a mix plate that came with fried chicken, beef, and spam and he enjoyed his food very much. He gave me some of his and it definitely had more flavor than what I ordered. I like to come here often. The staff are very nice and super hard working. However, when it is really busy there is no place to sit and you might have to wait 30 mins to get your food. So plan accordingly when you come during the busy times. You can also call in for a pick up, which a lot of people seem to do. The food is delicious, cheap and you get huge portions. After seeing all the tips and pics of the Spicy Korean Chicken, I was more than intrigued to come here. So when I jus happened to be in the area, there was no doubt what I was gonna have for lunch. Came here at 11:30 and there was a little line forming already. Ordered my Spicy Korean Chicken with Mushrooms and onions. Threw some sriracha on there (which was on every table) and enjoyed how crispy the chicken was. The onions and mushrooms were the cherry on top. All of this was sittin on top of steamed white rice. I love the teriyaki sauce they put on top. It was just the right amount to bring all the flavors together like a very good orchestral symphony. Service was surprisingly fast based off of the customers that ordered before me. Im actually glad I got in at the time I did because around 12, the place got packed quick! That's always a good sign of a good establishment. Prices are really good for the portions that you get. What I got was supposedly one of the bowl options. Seemed more like a stretched out oblong plate. Mind you they have actual plate combos that give you even more food. I just moved to Vegas but already have a favorite Hawaiian restaurant. This place is great, with the price of fast food and the ambiance of a cafe. You order at the counter and the food is brought to you at your table. Glass bowls and plates with silverware, no Styrofoam or plastic, except the cups. I odered the spicy Korean chicken bowl with a side order of lumpia. The portions were generous and it was all delicious. Add a Hawaiian Sun pineapple orange soda and the tab, with tax, was $9. If they ditched the Styrofoam in favor of a more environmentally friendly solution and updated the interior of the place, this would be an easy 5 stars. RECOMMENDED read more
