With all due respect to the people that live here, as well as the town itself, Brisbane doesn't exactly have a trendy food scene going on. Not that I've ever spent much time out here, but I had always assumed this sleepy stretch along 101 between the city and South San Francisco was limited to just office parks and condos. Never would I have guessed that among the restaurants sprinkled throughout town was such an interesting spot for hot pot! Now, if you've read some of my reviews, you might know that I have a sort of weakness for places with punny names and gimmicks. Chief among them might be sushi boat/conveyor belt restaurants. So, blend that with AYCE hot pot and my friends and I had more than enough of a reason to eat in Brisbane for the very first time. Well, all that plus the promise of a free tray of seafood (including a lobster tail!) and something unique to Yelp about! Stepping inside, Round N Round doesn't look particularly impressive, but no matter. More importantly to us, (nearly) every table was right next to the conveyor belt and there was nary a wait (it never got crazy busy while we were here, either). As we settled into our booth, I was also pleasantly surprised to see that every person got their own heating pad and pot, as opposed to the communal-style pots that most other places employ. Of course, that's to say nothing about all of the different choices and options available to customize your pot/meal. STEP 1: Pick your soup base - Chicken Broth, Szechuan Numbing (Hot & Spicy), Thai Style (Sour & Spicy), Malaysian, Japanese Miso, Cilantro & Preserved Duck Egg, Tomato Soup, Creamy Milk Soup STEP 2: Pick what meat to start with - Supreme Beef, Prime Lamb Shoulder, Chicken Slice, Pork Belly, Pork Slice - to go with your Seafood Tray (Lobster Tail, Scallop, Clams, and Fresh Fish Balls). STEP 3: Go to the Dipping Sauce Bar and create your own concoction, using their wide assortment of sauces/condiments, such as Soy Sauce, Ponzu Sauce, Sesame Oil, Miso Sauce, Oyster Sauce, Hoi Sin, Chili Oil, Sriracha, Green Onions, Chopped Garlic, Jalapenos, and Cilantro. As for the seafood, it amazes me that they still offer a legit lobster tail even after all this time and the clams and scallops are equally as tasty. Add to that some beef tendon, won ton, fish balls with roe, and SPAM and you've got my must haves for my own pot of goodness! Beyond the food, I was almost just as impressed with Round N Round's service. Not only were the workers all relatively friendly, but they were super responsive. At most other places, it takes a while for the servers to come back around to take your orders for refills on meats and even longer to actually bring it out. Here, the workers are quick to come around and don't leave you waiting for them to come back again and again. Given that, as well as the luxury/convenience of having the food come around to us, I'll definitely be coming back to Round and Round. We had lamented how few options Brisbane had and heard that that was the way they liked it. This always made it a little tough to decide to eat in town or travel further out for lunch. So, it was wonderful to learn about a hot pot place near our former office. It was like traveling back in time because nothing had changed in that small shopping center. I'll skip right to the food. The hot pot is pretty darn good. You order your broth and protein. When it comes they give you a bowl, fill it with the broth and fire up the little stoves at your table. Then you are off to the races. There is this conveyor system that moves little plates of soup toppings (i.e. noodles, meats, veggies, etc.) and you can just pick whatever you want and GO TO TOWN. My town was brimming with toppings. Everything was fresh and delicious. We ended up spending two hours there and eating like it was out last meal. Round N Round is a hotpot place in Brisbane. The side dishes (veggies, seafood, dumplings, dessert) come on an automated conveyor belt. You get individual pots, my wife got the miso one, I got the szechuan one. You order the main meat and drinks from the servers. When you sit down they give you a dish with a lobster tail and various fish balls. There's also a table in the corner for making sauces, which also has potstickers and fried tofu. The meat is very fresh, and the conveyor belt thing is an interesting touch, also because they comes out in small pieces (e.g. one piece of corn, one mussel, etc.) so that helps reduce waste. read more

As a fan of Seapot in San Mateo, I knew I would enjoy Round N Round Pot as well. (Sorry, I hate being another person comparing the two but they are very similar) Besides a couple items differing, the concept and price is all the same. The biggest difference is that Round N Round Pot offers half a lobster tail and homemade fish paste balls for each person. The location is in a random plaza off of Bayshore Blvd, which I never even knew existed before coming here. There's plenty of parking and the place wasn't busy on a Thursday evening at 6:30pm. Also, nice to note that I made it here just in time for their BOGO beer and wine happy hour from 4-7pm weekdays, yay! Once you're seated, go ahead and choose a broth and meat. They will give you one plate of meat per person until you finish and order more. One of our meats were forgotten the first time around and it would be a bit slow thereafter --thankfully you are still able to grab items off the conveyor belt, so you're never left with no food. I ordered the Thai Style Sour & Spicy broth, which had a hint of tangy lemongrass similar to a Tom Yum flavor. All in all, pretty good hot pot with conveyor belt. My family tried Round N Round a few weeks ago. As others have noted, in addition to your meat selection, you get a half lobster tail, a fat scallop and a couple fish balls. My wife had the lamb, my son the beef and I had the pork belly. Everyone having their own broth is very nice! The service was excellent and the food options kept coming by on the conveyor belt. My son isn't a big seafood eater, so he had a second plate of beef. One plate was enough for my wife and I with all the extras we grabbed off the belt. Seafood, dumplings and noodles were our favorite selections. We had a reservation, but it was pretty early on a Saturday and we didn't really need one. Plenty of space and comfortable place overall. I don't know how to say this. I was so mad when I first got it that I forgot to take a proper picture of it. This is literally false advertising. I ordered the kimchi dumpling hot pot. It's not a kimchi hot pot, there's only like 4 slices of kimchi in there and that's about it. The soup is just a flavorless clear pork bone soup. If you don't have a kimchi flavored hot pot base then please stop calling it a kimchi hot pot. Jeez. I have to bust out my own kimchi and sauce and stuff just trying to make it taste more like a kimchi hot pot. I was expecting a spicy, hot, nice bowl of kimchi soup and I got this. Also there are missing items. In the item description it supposed to have soft tofu, tempura, and green onions. I didn't receive any of these. Also it said enoki mushrooms, I got brown beech mushrooms instead. Also terrible packaging, there's a hole on top of the soup container (I don't know why would they even order containers like this it's like there's no use of a hole on a soup container you don't need to air it out), so by the time I received it, it already spilled everywhere. They also didn't make sure they tide the bag tight enough so the delivery guy was swinging the bag around when he hands it to me, probably thinking that it doesn't need to stay straight up. The food is fantasic, though the slices meat selection is ok and you get meat, chicken, pork and lamb slices (yup lamb) . But the soup base.... Woah, skip the miso or chicken broth and get the Chinese herb broth (so traditional, fragrant and great for those who are vegan and vegetarian diet). Let's talk about their conveyor belt food... It's alot... I never seen tendon (yes tendon!), tripe, pork blood curds, snail, pork intestine in a coveryor belt before.. Keep in mind when they serve your broth the flavor is there but no salt so you go to the sauce station (the selection is decent but enough to enhance the flavor ). We were craving for hotpot and decided to try this place since there were so many positive reviews. The first thing I noticed was "the smell" . There was an unpleasant smell once I walked in like old wood or old building kinda smell. We were seated right away which was great. The sauce dish they use is very old and sticky. Also, the meat was still frozen when they bought it out for us. We had to wait for it to thaw. Some of the foods on the conveyor are also frozen and not fresh. Service was just ok. Not once did they come and ask if we want more meat. We had to flag them down all the time. Our water was never refilled. One of the waiters asked if we still have the laminated menu because she wanted to take ours to show the customer across from us what meat they have which I thought was kinda weird. Selected round n round pot for a team lunch after noting its proximity to work and its AYCE policy. All in all, food was delicious and it was a gem of a find for Brisbane. Layout wise, it's not the most convenient. The conveyors are only accessible by booth seating which is designed for tables of 4 to 6. The largest table is 8 which is a round table with waiter service instead. We had a group of 12 so we opted for 2 booths to get a niche experience. Once you settle on a table, I suggest you load up on your sauces. I liked the sheer amount of choices they featured and constructed myself two varieties, one dark and one nutty. Could have used some sesame oil to finish it off though! Pro-tip: get way more than what you think you need cause it's not that convenient to keep getting up for more. Broths come quickly and they have about 8 varieties. I opted for the Thai sour and spicy which could be compared to a Tom yum base. I thought it was very good, hitting the right lemongrass and lime undertones. As the dishes roll through the conveyor, I liked that they were "grouped" so you could kind of anticipate when to pull items. Overall, the majority of ingredients were very good. I really liked the variety they offered, even including some choices not found in other places (liver and blood cubes, for example). Personal favorites included my go-to roe filled fish balls, lotus roots, tong ho, and fresh fish cutlets. I did think they could have come by to top off soups more often and they definitely could have quickened meat delivery too (pretty evident it was slow to force you to eat off the conveyor instead). Despite this, I still ate way more than normal and after the fact I also didn't find myself overly thirsty which was good. Price for lunch was also a very reasonable at $16.99. So though it's not the most upscale or the best hot pot place I've been to, it's definitely still a fun option that I would consider repeating again if in the area. read more

My friends and I came on a Saturday night around 6pm and were able to snag the last open booth. Dinner is $28.99 per person. You can choose your soup base and a type of meat to get you started. What's really nice is the fact that they also give you a lobster tail + 3 different meatballs to cook in your soup. Other places normally charge for such a thing. They're also located in a plaza so parking is quite abundant. Reviews were sort of all over the place so it's hard to pinpoint what kind of experience I'll have exactly. I do like the fact that their service is pretty attentive in terms of replacing your plate of meat compared to Seapot which takes forever to flag someone down. Their sauce bar is also quite extensive and self-help so you can grab as much or as little as you want. Downfalls would be the fact that some items on their conveyor belt are old and they won't replace them until someone takes the current ones off the belt so you're left wondering if you should just take it because you want that particular item or just wait till someone else takes it. The portion is small so you can get a good variety. For price of $29.99 a person, it comes with a half lobster, 2 scallops, and 2 house made fish balls. Not bad. As that said, the food quality is just really average. Beef slice is dry and hard. Pork slice is moist and soft. There's a sauce bar with a huge selection. But I just couldn't make it a tasty sauce. We found this place by accident as this is not our typical area. The price is cheap compare to San Mateo and there is parking out front. The lunch does not come with a lobster tail but there is quite a bit of food to pick from already. I think the broth is not as good as Happy Lamb but the price is also a lot cheaper. I do like the conveyer portions are small enough that we got to try everything. The sauce bar also has everything you can think of. The only down side is that despite being a hot pot place, the restaurant table and floor does feel a bit oily, and could do with a heavy cleaning. Came on Friday night at 7pm and had a short wait, even when there were tables available (just not cleaned up). It was fine since I was waiting for my friend. After being seated and menu provided, it took a while for someone to come and take our sheet/order. After the soup came, usually the waitstaff would help you turn on the hotpot stove. Stoves took a whole to heat up. The rotating conveyor belt is nice and seemed to have a good amount of options. I did grab a dish of mushrooms that looked like it wasn't washed (black dirt on them). Soup was 1/5. Got the century egg base and it lacked flavor. Like zero flavor. The only plus was I wasn't gulping down any water during it after my meal...seems like some of the side items like the fishballs lacked flavor. It was like eating a doughball. I don't understand why this place has such high reviews. Their sanitary practice here is so disgusting! The workers here uses the same pair of gloves to pick up dirty plates/silverware from guests that are done dining, to cleaning the tables with chemicals, to then giving you (the new guest) clean plates and utensils. I called her out on it, the worker says: "everyone does this here!" then mumbles in Chinese, "go get it yourself then." I mean lady, do you clean your toilet with the same pair of gloves you eat with?????? Total violation. First hotpot I've been here in the city with a conveyer belt and your own pot! Made a reservation here for 5 people and it didn't seem too busy for a Saturday night. Complimentary seafood tray for their grand opening. The lobster tail and meatballs were good. Ordered the miso soup along with lamb and beef. The meats along with rice you get from the server. DIY sauce bar!!! Unlimited amount of ponzu sauce, miso sauce, hot sauce, garlic, cilantro... literally anything you can think and want in your hotpot dipping sauce. I loved this concept. The conveyer belt is also pretty cool, all you can grab and eat. It is filled with different types of veggies, fish balls, tripe, tendon, mushrooms, noodles (udon, ramen) cheesecake, jello. Oh look another hot pot place. When I went, they were giving out a free dish of lobster tail, scallops, clams, and assorted fish balls per dinner meal. Honestly, if it weren't for that, I woulda felt really ripped off... But even then, this place is a huge let down. I can confidently say I have been to so many better places than here ranging from Sac to San Jose. First off the soup, it's average, but one thing that got on my nerves was the fact that when they add in more soup, its really just chicken broth. There are other places that will add in whatever original soup you ordered so the flavor doesn't drop. This place is definitely not one of the places. Secondly, meats and everything else. You can only order one meat dish at a time per person, a bit limiting since they take awhile to bring them out after you order (even when the place wasn't packed with people). The other stuff like veggies, noodles, seafood, tofu, and mushrooms come through on a conveyor belt you share with so many other tables. Honestly, each row should have their own belt, sharing the same belt among several rows saves manpower for the restaurant but that's about it. A few key things that make me never want to come back: - It really takes forever for the same type of food to finally circle around. If you are one of he unlucky people to sit at the end of the belt, you may not even be able to get what you want. - The lobster tail wasn't that great, it was either a hit or a miss. At my table, some tails pull out easily while others broke into so many tiny pieces. - The large clams had a disgustingly tremendous amount of sand, I ended up spitting it out and tossing the rest. I had stopped by here multiple times, the food was just okay, but I feel like I come here mainly because I like the conveyor belt concept. This place is a gem in the Bay! It was one of the last places I dined at before Shelter-In-Place and one of the first places I returned to when it fully reopened. It's a buffet and they truly mean it. There is no hassle with ordering meats, the conveyor belt is always running and full, the sauce station has a plethora of options, and there's even a plate of lobster tail, fish balls, and scallops for every person. The service was amazing. The servers were quick and attentive, kept checking on us, and even went to the back to personally get things we were were waiting for on the conveyor belt. When the bill came, they prefilled the tip (for large groups) so that we don't accidentally double tip. If we get the same level of service next time, I honestly don't mind. I have no idea why people think this place is good! It's pretty gross and bland. Soups have no flavor, their peanut and sesame sauces are disgusting. Went with soy sauce to have some flavor. Not much selections on veggies. For the price, this place is definitely not worth it. Who knows, maybe this place is for some people, but not me. W read more

I live close by so this is my default hot pot spot. It's not the best, but when you're craving hot pot, it does the job. It's good. I may prefer a spot like Seapot, but I also don't like waiting for 2 hours for a table. If there is a wait, it's usually pretty short. The service is great and friendly. read more

The service here is really good and they are very nice! This is my first time indoor dining but they staggered where everyone sat in the booths so we were distanced safely from others. They give you a paper menu and you can choose your broth (individual pot per person), the sauces you want, and meat. Everything else (vegetables, noodles, even dessert) was on the conveyor belts and they were in separate packaging to ensure safety as well! read more
