For this diner, you wait in line to order. Then once you order, you're seated. It was probably a 15-20 min wait for us on a Sunday afternoon. Once we ordered, the food came out in 5 mins, it was shockingly quick! We got a pimento cheese dip and beignets to share. My favorite part was the saltine crackers that tasted like cheezits. The beignets were more dense than I would like. The chicken and waffles were delicious, just beware one of the cups has a liquid hot sauce- it's not another syrup container! The biscuits and gravy were also great. I appreciated that there's a water container so you can go refill your water whenever you need to.

Roux is a lovely diner with nice ambience and a cozy vibe. We arrived for brunch and there was a line at the door. We waited about 10 minutes and then gave our order at the counter. You then seat yourself and they bring the food to you. I got the biscuits and gravy and my wife got the hot chicken and waffle. Both tasted great and were nice breakfast treats. My friend got a group items for the table, including beignets and pimento cheese. The beignets were warm and delicious. The pimento cheese was incredible as well. I especially liked the fried saltines that they gave to tip in the cheese. It tasted almost like a fresh, homemade Cheez-It.

Came here for lunch and got the Cold Fried Chicken Salad. Lots of seating inside and I like how bright it was inside despite it being rainy. I didn't care for the cold fried chicken. I understood that the chicken was supposed to be cold, but my gripe was that it was dry. The salad itself was yummy though. The lettuce was crisp and went well with the sweet cranberries and candied pecans. Big portion size. Service was efficient. I would come back here to try something other than their salad.

I must say I don't love this place but I have people that I love that do love this place. So on this particular occasion I decided to order something different and this probably was my favorite thing I've ordered! It was light, flavorful and not doing much. If you like a Chicago take on a southern diner then this is a good place to go. If you're new to this they don't do waiting service you order at the front, find your seat and they bring it out. Really great if you're not into splitting checks.

Mainly went here to try the beignets but also wanted to try other things. The biscuit and grits were great!! The food came out really quickly and the service was friendly. The cafe is a lot bigger than I had expected so it makes for a great place to sit and do some work. I didn't care much for the coffee unfortunately.

We went to try Roux Diner for the first time since we were going to MSI. It's a wonderful spot! We got: Beignets: 4/5 very yum snd fluffy! Classic breakfast: 4/5 very standard. I did upgrade to a biscuit and it's well worth! The spot is very casual and you order at the counter and pick your own seats. The service was fast as well.

Went here for breakfast. We had 2 toasts, beignets, 3 egg omelette and assorted coffee. Service was friendly and prompt. The beignets were the best I have had outside of New Orleans. Great casual joint which I would come back to.

I like Roux.. the food is good (heavily salted ) but the set up and service leaves a lot to be desired. You order your food at the counter, take a number and search for a seat. Not my cup of tea for this price point.

Always delicious food. Diner but the food is much better than your average diner experience. Only knock is that it can get super busy and the wait can be a bit long. Other than that it's very much worth a visit.

I came back to try the classic breakfast again with a biscuit and bacon. 10s across the board. It's still very clean. The grits are one of my favs. Now the biscuit is at the top of my list as well. Ammaaaazzimg ! I also collect point through the toast app. The staff were pretty nice and helpful.

Absolutely fantastic spot near the University of Chicago. Huge, comfortable space, super clean, loved that they set out packaging for leftovers, and the kitchen was lightning fast. The food was delicious. Highly recommend the fried green tomato stack, grits, biscuits, and beignets. Service was great, too. My husband wanted a refill of his coffee before we left and they took care of him quickly despite the long line to order food.

This was our second time here & that says ALOT! we try not to repeat places, but I can most definitely say that this won't be our last! The food was amazing as an all day breakfast place too! I personally am not big on breakfast, but Roux has changed my mind. The inside is clean and well decorated, I loved the platters that they used as decor. The set up is a walk up order then they will seat you. Even if the line seems long, everything went by fairly quick! I think we were only seated for 5-10 minutes before the food came out. We tried the shrimp and grits this time around, and they were delicious. The shrimp were plum,p and the grits were cheesy and so good! We also got the beignets and omg the fluffiest I have ever had! The presentation was also so well done, they sprinkled powdered sugar on the plate, but it didn't overpower the beignets, so if you wanted more sugar, you could add it. The star of the show, in my opinion, are the biscuits. They are light, fluffy, and buttery. They paired it with this semi-spicy honey that complemented it well! Definitely a must go~

My experience was great. I enjoyed my food and I had a latte. I liked the quick service and friendly atmosphere. The bakery looked divine, so I'll have to come back soon for beignets and a cinnamon roll!

Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. The outside had a light coating of sugar that gave it just the right amount of sweetness without being too much. Once I bit into it, the inside was soft, airy, and slightly chewy from the sourdough, which made it different from a regular donut. There was a subtle tang from the sourdough that balanced the sweetness really well, so it never felt overly sugary. Our family and extended family often ordered birthday cakes from them, and their mango cake was our favorite. When mangoes were in season, they used plenty of fresh mango in the cakes. Their cakes are always fresh, light, fluffy, and not too sweet. My daughter and I also love their individual cakes, especially the Black Pearl and Walnut Cake. Their pineapple buns and egg tarts are her favorites as well. Saint Anna has also been part of our daughter's childhood. When she was little, my husband used to bring her here before or after Chinese school in Chinatown on Sundays. Her go-to breakfast items were the Butter Bun, Ham and Macaroni in Soup, and Diced Ham and Corn in Cream Rice. As she got older, Curry Chicken with Potato became her favorite. She especially loved the potato cubes soaked in the delicious, mild curry sauce. She would always ask for more potatoes and less chicken, haha! Saint Anna is a family-run business, and Sara and Irene, the daughters-in-law, used to take care of the front of house. They were always so friendly and accommodating. After a 6-year hiatus, we finally returned one Friday recently when we happened to be in the area with a friend. Sara is now a co-owner, and it was wonderful to see her again. She immediately recognized us and was so warm and welcoming. She even asked me to relay her greetings to my sisters when she greeted us and again when we were leaving. Those little gestures made our return feel especially meaningful. We were still full from a big dim sum lunch, so my daughter picked up 2 Mini Pineapple Buns and 2 Paper-Wrapped Sponge Cakes, while I got a Red Bean Roll. Everything was fresh, soft, and delicious, and the total came to just under $8, really a great value. Our friend also purchased 2 Fried Sticky Rice Dumplings with Chicken. I had never really paid attention to their limited dim sum selection before, so that was a nice discovery. We love Saint Anna and will definitely be back whenever we're in the area.
