I have been here twice - sat at the bar the first time and then a table the second. I wish I could say that I enjoyed both experiences but it was not the case. My bar experience was great. It was intimate yet not too encroaching. As it was positioned in front of the kitchen, we got to watch our food being prepared which was quite fun. The wait staff at the bar was very professional, knowledgeable and knew when to provide service and when to pull back. He really made our dining experience fun and relaxing. We had oysters, tuna poke, shrimp pineapple raita on naan, clam chowder, buttermilk biscuit, curry mussels. We chose oysters from three different MA locations - all fresh and great tasting - could have been happy just having oysters but the other dishes also had our names on them! All the food we had was great except for the clam chowder which was quite ordinary. Special mention for the biscuit which was delicious but it seemed to be a sweet pastry and I am not sure how it fits into the dinner menu? Really loved the curried mussels which came with two pieces of toasts which we mopped up with the hot yet delicious curry sauce. Last night, celebrating an important anniversary, I and three others came here for a proper sit down dinner. We did not notice this last time but the restaurant was quite noisy. The sound of diners talking and the rather loud piped music diminished our dining experience somewhat. It was a busy Thursday night but there were empty tables yet they seemed a little overwhelmed. Our wait staff couldn't come to the table right away so the manager came and took our drinks order to get us started. When we finally got our waitress, she seemed to be preoccupied with other tables to really focus on a fully satisfying table service for us. For example, we seemed to have to look for her whenever we needed service like to have our orders taken, requesting for bread which I thought was given to diners without asking and our check. She came to check on us from time to time but not when we really needed her. I do think this is a great seafood restaurant just for the quality of the oysters alone hence the four stars rating. read more

Raw oysters and little necks were great. They always are. 5 stars for the compound butter! Honey, cayenne butter! Best I've ever had. Overall a really pleasant experience. We went just to sample all the oysters they offered and really enjoyed them all. To give a general breakdown, the Wellfleet oysters hold a special place in my heart being both a thick and satisfying texture with a more sweet flavor. The Moon Shoal oysters were the most expensive but honestly not as satisfying a texture although it was very sweet in flavor. The Island Creeks were the one grown specifically by the establishment and they were similar in fatty texture to the Wellfleet but not quite as sweet. But overall I think the best for the price was the Ichabod Flats! Not only were they on the thicker side in terms of texture (though not as big as the Wellfleets) they were very sweet and only a dollar each!!! The food here is yummy, but the service was amazing (thank you Samantha M, you were awesome). I was exhausted after a very long day, all I wanted was a good glass of wine and some good food. I arrived around 8 pm and the place was packed, I was lucky and was able to get a table right away. I was at that point in the day where I was so tired and indecisive, but Samantha was very patient with me and answered all my questions. I ordered some Savage Blonde raw oysters, a cup of clam chowder, and a fish sandwich. The oysters were fantastic, ill order more the next time I'm there. The clam chowder was full of clams and bacon, I dipped some of the house bread in my chowder. The fish sandwich was good, but the chowder and oysters were the stars of the night. The wine selection is good, they had many selections from France (which is my favorite). My server made my evening when she brought me a small chocolate walnut bite. Seriously Samantha you made this tired girls night. This place is lucky to have you representing their brand. read more

We had an unfortunate experience last night. When we arrived, the music was so loud that we had trouble hearing each other at the table. Granted, it was early and the restaurant was mostly empty. The manager/hostess was kind enough to turn down the music when we asked and we were appreciative. After another 10 minutes, we asked if it was possible to turn it down a bit more, she responded with a a diatribe about how they've never turned down the music so low in the past and there are other people in the restaurant and then marched off in a huff with her condescending tone in tow. My question was simply a question. It was not a demand. It was not a complaint. It was my attempt to gather information--was it "possible?" A more customer friendly response could have been "I'd love to but we are trying to balance the needs of all our customers and manage the atmosphere." Same answer. Same volume of music. Different outcome in the loyalty of your customers and reputation of your establishment. read more

I went there last night for a work dinner and really enjoyed it. I don't eat oysters, so I cannot comment on them. My group ordered 2 dozen and they were all eaten, so I'm guessing they were great! My team also ordered 8 fried oyster sliders and really loved those. We ordered several items for the table and everything was devoured. I had some of the tuna poke and it was delish! I also had some mussels and they were good, but I've had better. The sauce was pretty spicy and the mussels were a bit under cooked for my taste (they were almost raw). For my main course I had the monk fish schnitzel. Wow that was some of the best fish I've ever had! I pretty much never order the same thing twice at a restaurant (obv with exceptions) but if I come back here I will have the monk fish again. Cocktails were good, wine was good and dessert was good (between the group we had almost all the desserts and covered most of the cocktails!). I will have to say I would have liked to be able to order my own cocktail, but you have to chose from their list. That was a bit disappointing (I wasn't exactly asking for anything complicated... a white sangria...). The reason for my review not being 5 stars was actually not the food, drinks or service. I give all of those 5 stars. The noise level was just too high. They keep the music really loud and with people trying to yell over the music it just makes it that much louder. One of the guests in my party actually asked them to turn it down a little bit, just so we didn't have to yell. We sat there for almost 3hrs so the place cleared by the time we were done and the more place emptied out, the louder it got. I loved it overall and will most likely be back! read more

So this place had a killer lobster roll and a decent burger. I know for all the seafood lovers this is a must go to spot, but even if the food was a knock out the place needs to fix a few things. The ambience is very cool - shades of gray, cool lighting and very open but for lunch the music would not stay on and we heard the same song on their sound track three times and then it kept switching off. The staff are all nice but who was our waiter or waitress? We ended up with Steven who was a fun nice so in the end we were happy. But it also took so long (3 lobster roles and one burger) when we were the first table in at 11:30? Drinks were mediocre- Bloody Mary was a miss and lacked any mind blowing experience. So to sum it up, I'll go back if my seafood friends want, but there are only 2 options on the menu for me and I like ambience! Give me ambience and I'll be cool with a mediocre burger and an average Bloody Mary. Fix it all and this place could rock read more

My group ordered a few appetizers to share: 3 dozen oysters, smoked salmon pate, and crispy oyster sliders. I really enjoyed all of them, especially the pate. I don't like smoked salmon but the pate tasted more similar to poke so I liked it. The oysters were fresh and the sliders weren't as heavy as I thought they would be, despite being fried. After all this, I decided to just order the clam chowder with a side of fries. The chowder was good, but I honestly would've preferred the regular crackers that chowder typically comes with than the biscuits. The biscuits were a bit too large and hard to eat. I don't recommend ordering the fries. They were just plain fries that cost $4. read more

Eight of us came here (their Burlington location) for dinner for my birthday.. I selected it because we used to dine at Jeremy Sewall's old restaurant, Lineage, and enjoyed the food there quite a lot. NOT SO with Island Creek. Three of us ordered the baked haddock and all three were disappointed. Haddock should not be napped in a rich sauce, nor should a creamy sauce be spiked with slices of hot Thai peppers, imho. The accompanying potato gnocchi were gummy and also not a great side to pair with haddock..I mean who eats haddock with gnocchi? The grilled salmon was undercooked, the Brussels sprouts on the plate were practically raw, the skate wing was tasteless and it made me feel bad that fish died only to be served up as such mediocre fare. The service was pleasant but spotty and many of the entrees arrived barely lukewarm. One in our party was served long after the rest of us, even though he had ordered the same dish as two other guests. I regretted my choice and will likely not return, as there are definitely better options for good seafood in the area. read more

Love the large interior and easy parking. We used to go to Island Oyster Creek here all the time partly for that reason, you could usually get a table and know you're getting delicious food. At Row 34 we were not disappointed with some fresh ceviche, fish tacos and spicy broccoli. Was too tired for cocktails but will try next time. read more

Bartender with gauges was so warm and inviting. Usually I'm a little anxious sitting alone at bar but he instantly made the atmosphere feel so safe and welcoming. Was very attentive. I was lucky enough to try the Burlington location of Island Creek Oysters last week and was very impressed. I've been to both of the Row 34 locations, and saw a lot of similarities with their menus (which is a good thing.) As with Row 34, the drink menu was very expansive, with a large variety of beers, wines, ciders, and mixed drinks. Not wanting to have a long night, we took it easy on the drinks, but I'll plan to sample more next time. For me, the highlight of the menu (and what inspired my review) was the oyster selection; it was one of the most expansive and varied that I have seen anywhere. We ended up with a selection of Pemaquids, Aunt Dotty's, and Island Creeks (of course.) Once they arrived, the presentation and quality of the oysters was hands down the best I've had anywhere in the area - no shell fragments, a perfect amount of brine; just fantastic. Our entrees were the lobster roe noodles for me, and the warm lobster roll (a Row 34 favorite) for my betrothed. My entree had plenty of lobster and short rib, and was fantastic. I was not offered any of the warm lobster roll, so I will assume it was equally good. Island Creek is a great new addition to the Burlington scene, and I look forward to returning soon. read more

My wife and I had been to the branch in Kenmore Square and so, looking for a place for a New Year's repast, went to Island Creek. This restaurant subscribes to the "let's have as few entrees as possible" philosophy which is something that frankly, I don't understand. Give me a lot of choices. And so, having looked at the menu in advance, we initially thought we would just have oysters, calamari, chowder, etc. But when we got there, my wife liked the idea of the lobster roe noodles and so I got the seafood casserole. Short story - I wish I had gotten hers. While my dish was reasonably tasty, I wonder what chef thinks that a brown seafood casserole looks appetizing. Because it does not. You eat with the eyes first, right? So it looked like beef stew. It was ok but I wouldn't get it again. And, frankly, due to their lack of entrees (monkfish? no swordfish, no scallops) there weren't a lot of alternatives. We did have about 8 or so excellent oysters, shared a tasty salad and had a couple of nice, warmed mulled wines. So, I wanted to love this place but largely due to my entree, only liked it. Do I recommend this place and will I return? Yes and yes. I just will either try another entree or go with the oyster/chowder/calamari plan. Island Creek - please consider expanding your menu. Legal Sea Food and Bonefish are just around the corner and I can get just about anything I want there. I want to love this place but you're making it hard. BTW, Tuscan Kitchen is across the road. We walked across the street afterward and sat at the bar. As a bonus, they had a jazz band playing that night. Plus they have better desserts. Price for two with tip - about $150. read more

We decided to try this place out of sooooo many options these days. We hit an early afternoon movie and an unaccustomed early dinner. I believe that was our first mistake. We got there just before 5 (our reservation was for 5:15) Our server was uninterested, nonchalant and just plain un-engaging. I believe that most people look for comfort and some kind of welcome in any setting. We certainly didn't feel welcome OR engaged. We ordered lots of things. The lettuce wraps (5 stars), beet salad, oysters, brussel sprouts (way too oily) broccoli and a $40 lobster roll that I could have gotten off of any sea side cart. All in all this was as average as average gets. The worst part of it was the service, he wasn't unfriendly, or inefficient, but had an air of arrogance and that came off as unwelcoming. Island Creek was a local favorite. Stopped in to Row 34 for early dinner last week. Had a mix of $1 and off the menu oysters. Both were super, so fresh. Drink selection was interesting and seasonal and cocktail that I ordered was generous. My husband got the mixed seafood w/ pasta dish, no complaints. I got the halibut and it was disappointingly overcooked. The flesh was dry and stringy instead of flaky and moist. Seared and seasoned expertly but the extent of overcooking was surprising for a seafood restaurant. Accompanied by a corn side which was flavorful but seemed like frozen corn instead of fresh which is in season now. Desert was good and service was attentive and friendly. Will return and hope for better entree next time. read more

Some foods are excellent, some not so much. The charcuterie board had an excellent combination of delicious smoked salmon and steelhead trout. Good patés but heavy on the whitefish seasoning so the fish component was hard to taste. The crab cake was very inferior and the big disappointment--much too much filling and only a little stringy crab claw meat--a different universe from the typical Maryland lump backfin crab cakes barely held together with a small amount of mayo and some old bay seasoning, which we have had dozens of time. The salad portion of the dish was over salted a lot. Oyster poboy was good. Clam chowder had too few clams, heavy on the bacon. The buttermilk biscuit was the best ever. The butterscotch pudding was light and the best ever and enjoyed by four of us like a chocolate truffle after the meal. They could use some plain broiled local fish for lunch. Outstanding service at the bar! Bartenders were quick and super friendly A++ service. Simply put, the food was outstanding! The crab dip was a special but was hands down the best we've ever had. Oysters were fresh with many types to choose from. Shrimp was $3.75 which I thought was expensive until I tried it. This is not your frozen grocery store shrimp - so so good!! Also there are tons of options for craft beer and high end cocktails that are as good as you could get anywhere. It's been awhile since I've left a restaurant this satisfied so I felt obligated to post. Definitely worth the money! read more

Great space, great food - tons of parking - outdoor seating. Had reservations on a Saturday night. The place was hopping but not totally full. Plenty of parking in the lot which was great. The space is light, airy, fun. Loved the decor. We ordered the oysters and they were some of the best and freshest ever. The smoked tuna pate was a fail. I thought it was like a mound of pate for smearing but was already on toast with chopped egg and other stuff on top. That was not my fav. The drinks were very good - tons of beer and wine options. The fried clams were tender, crispy and delish. My only complaint was they come on top of the fries - which makes everything a little soggy. But next time I would have them place them separately. Dinner companions had the Lobster roe noodle dish. That was the hit of the night. Even dessert was good. Definitely a gem in the burbs. read more

With the current pandemic, I'm writing a review update. Island Creek takes state guidelines seriously. Tables are 14 feet apart, contactless menu and payment, they clean tables and chairs after every customer, dine in is 90 min window which is plenty of time, everyone wears masks properly. Food comes out pretty quick without sacrificing quality. This place is always fully booked during dinner time so, I suggest to book early unless you want to have a super early dinner at 4:30pm. I have been back 3 times since they opened and will definitely come back. read more

Amazing experience! I ordered take out accidentally to the Boston location totally my own fault for not double checking - the woman working the host stand was over the top accommodating! She called the Boston location had them cancel the payment and got me my order from Burlington all of this was 15 minutes before they closed. I was so impressed that they would be that accommodating for a mistake they didn't even make it was my fault! Once I got the food home that was incredible as well.
