If you're looking for some of the freshest oysters and the best craft-beer selection near Seaport, you must give Row 34 a try! We decided to stop in around 8PM on a Sunday evening. We were looking to enjoy some raw bar and some light appetizers. I strongly suggest booking a reservation on OpenTable, as the place was extremely busy for a Sunday at 8PM! We showed up around 7:30 PM hoping to snag an earlier reservation out on their rain or shine patio. Unfortunately, they were very busy and were unable to accommodate our request. However, they made us feel extremely welcome and offered us a seat at the bar while we waited for our table outside. The inside is upscale without being overly so. The atmosphere is casual, yet elegant. Dim lighting sets the mood and atmosphere. They offer a visible raw-bar with a plethora of fresh oysters, crab claws, clams, and more! The establishment offers a phenomenal craft beer and craft cocktail program. If you're looking for one of the largest craft-beer selections around, Row 34 is the place to be. Their craft cocktail selection is equally impressive. For those who don't consume, they do offer a small selection of non-alcoholic craft cocktails and non-alcoholic, craft beer. We started with a cocktail or two and before we knew it our table outside was ready! Their outdoor patio is spacious, roomy, open, and airy. It is rain-or-shine and even has patio heaters for those cooler nights and/or early fall months. Their raw bar is incredible. I am huge on raw oysters and I am always on the lookout for a spot with a solid selection of "species". Every oyster species has a unique appearance, size, and flavor profile. At Row 34, they had 4-5 species of oyster to choose from. We ordered a dozen of oysters, 3 of each species. They also offer raw clams, Jonah crab claws, and multiple crudo offerings! I was incredibly excited to try a new variety or two that I had not tried before anywhere else. The service here is incredibly attentive to detail. The kitchen is also incredibly attentive to quality, preparation, and presentation. I'll admit, service was a bit on the slower side. However, I forgive that as I much prefer an attentive eye to quality and detail over ticket times. Our raw bar offerings were brought out by the service manager. She was incredibly friendly and personable. She welcomed us to Boston, as we had relocated here in May from Chicago. She even included a few extra oysters and a few Jonah crab claws as a "welcome" to Boston. She ensured throughout the entire meal that everything was up to our standards, and their own. They truly are committed to quality, taste, preparation, and presentation. Our server was equally impressive. When asked about their raw bar offerings, he was incredibly educated on the offerings of the evening. He went over the species of oysters without missing a beat. It is hard to find places with educated staff who can recite the day's offerings to you. The oysters were incredibly fresh and clean. No grit or bits of shell to break a tooth on! The oysters were ice cold and each had a unique, yet refreshing flavor profile. I would strongly recommend Row 34 if you're a big oyster guru like I am. They have a solid selection of offerings to delight your palate. Next, we decided to order the Tuna Crudo. It was incredibly fresh and the presentation was on-point. The tuna was incredibly flavorful and fresh. I do wish the portion was a bit larger, next time I would probably order a second plate! After we enjoyed our raw bar offerings, we decided to order the Heirloom Tomato Salad. Juicy Tomatoes, Pistachio Dukkah, Ricotta Salata, Balsamic. The tomatoes were incredibly juicy and refreshing, perfect for a warm summer evening. The portion was generous for two to share. I also strongly recommend their homemade Buttermilk Biscuit. I agree with our server, it is the perfect fusion of savory and sweet! It is a massive homemade biscuit topped with melting rosemary butter and gooey honey. It is plenty for two to split and it truly hits all the flavor notes! As I said, service was a bit slower than some may like. However, I prefer to enjoy my meal and not feel rushed. I also prefer the commitment to quality, taste, preparation, and presentation. I look forward to returning for their incredible raw bar offerings and crudo! Had dinner at Row 34's seaport location. I enjoyed a dimly lit atmosphere and they have the raw bar viable when you walk in which creates the fresh food environment. Overall the food was really good we did oysters, shrimp cocktail, tuna tartare (spicy), and tuna tacos. All were very fresh and tasty. For dinner I had the fried fish tacos and they were some of the best I've ever had. The piece of fish was thick and had a light crispy fried crust with pineapple and a delicious sauce. Managed to grab a spot at the bar. Tried a few of their cocktails and they were all pretty enjoyable. Food-wise the fried calamari was alright. The highlight was the assorted order of oysters which were absolutely delicious. The monkfish main was good, but nothing overly memorable. Service at the bar was friendly and attentive. Front of the house did not seem very interested and the bar seating situation was somewhat confusing. Junk fee warning: Following the Boston restaurant trend of adding junk fees, they add a 3.5% kitchen staff appreciation fee. I would appreciate if restaurants would instead just pay their staff a fair and decent wage (including performance based compensation on top of base salaries if they wish to do so) instead of outsourcing risk to their staff and hiding real prices to their customers. It's both anti-employee and anti-consumer. There's lots of similar spots around Boston in terms of menu and atmosphere, but Row 34 holds its own. read more

Love love love this place. My favorite is their beat salad its so fresh and unlike any other beat salad! They are known for their ginormous biscuit which is just heavenly delicious and savory. This place gets busy so reservation is a must! I came here with my boyfriend for an 8:30 reservation on a Saturday night. We probably weren't actually seated until around 8:55 PM, along with several of the other 8:30 reservations so beware. However, the atmosphere of the spot was super nice. We ordered several oysters and shrimp cocktail from the bar, as well as the mafaldine, bacon cheddar cheeseburger, and monkfish. My boyfriend and I split everything and the chefs went ahead and plated our mafaldine separately and sliced the burger in half. The oysters and shrimp came out super quickly and tasted super fresh. The mafaldine came out next, it was a pasta paired with clams and sausage. The sauce was pretty light but paired well with the the elements mixed in. The next two items - the burger and fish - took a whiiiile to come out. However, they were worth the wait. The monkfish was crispy and sat on a bed of cauliflower and carrots, paired with a tartar sauce. The cheeseburger was also quite yummy, featuring caramelized onions, as well as pickles and pickled onions on the side. The buns were a bit thinner than I expected but overall it was super juicy. Overall, we really enjoyed our dinner! Honestly for what we got the price was lower than I expected (~$135 pre-tax for 9 oysters, 2 shrimp, 3 entrees). This spot was recommended to us by multiple friends and service industry folks around Seaport and we chose to visit multiple times when we were in town, so you know it was good! Row 34 has an amazing craft beer selection, a very good wine selection, and a full bar. The first visit we sat at the bar and it was near closing by the time we were seated, but the bartender was super friendly and accommodating and we were able to have a drink and a bite to end our night. We tried the Tuna Crudo, the Lobster Rangoon and the burger they were all delicious. So good in fact, we had the same thing when we visited a 2nd time! We also tried the Crispy Chicken Slider, the Clam Chowder, and the Blue Crab and Artichoke Dip on our second visit and they were also quite tasty. I'm honestly annoyed with restaurants adding surcharges. They had a "kitchen" surcharge line item which could have been just baked into their menu prices. Anyhow, I arrived early for my reservation and was able to be seated at the bar on a very busy Wed night. The restaurant itself is fairly designed well and clearly makes decent business with the amount of filled seats. I had a clam chowder and a burger. Dining alone, I couldn't help but to look at how others were enjoying their meal. For some reason people don't like eating their chips (among lots of lobster rolls ordered) - I wondered if they were just not crispy/ seasoned enough. The clam chowder had a nice consistency, and I noticed a mirepoix was used which made it pretty classic. However the smoked ham/ bacon overpowered the soup just a bit. I could also tell the soup has been sitting awhile as since the clams were mainly disintegrated due to a lot of stirring. The burger itself was good, but the onions in it were over-caramelized by 2 minutes so it tasted a bit burnt. The cheesy polenta (which I substituted over fries) was a touch grainy. I hadn't really ventured into the upscale seafood restaurant scene in Seaport until this winter, and Row 34 was definitely one I had my eye on. We were lucky to get a table for 6 on a Saturday (~5pm) without a reservation (though we had to vacate within 1.5 hours for a reservation at that table). The service was good and the food came out quickly. Things I loved - The mussels were perfectly cooked with a super savory white wine broth. Things that were pretty good - The lobster roll was buttery and quite substantial - The bouillabaisse was tasty but the shrimp was overcooked. Had a fantastic experience at Row 34!! All the food was absolutely delicious and the raw bar was so fresh. Our server, Kevin, took phenomenal care of us and was very kind and attentive. We ordered 2 types of oysters (both great), the tuna crudo, the oyster slider, the crab cake, the house bread and some lobster rolls as well as the burger. The lobster was overflowing from the roll and came with choice of shoestring fries, steak fries and house made chips. All were great but the steak fries were somehow so crispy and fluffy. Certainly an expensive place but the quality is there and the vibes are casual and fun for a night out. Highly recommend checking it out for some great seafood in Seaport. read more

I think the flavors here were fantastic - the tartar sauce with the pickle and the fish made a magical combination. The perfectly buttered, toasted bread helped too. However, what ruined my experience was that the fish turned soggy within seconds, making the whole sandwich soggy and falling apart. - Ethel's creamy lobster roll with chips - the beautiful brioche bun was perfectly toasted and held all the lobster together nicely. It was dressed nicely, with not too much mayo, it had celery bits and the lime to squeeze on top made a huge difference! I also loved that it came pre-cut in half, making it so much easier to handle. Got the oysters for appetizer and was shocked by the sheer variety of them - loved the inclusions of sauces to cut through the oysters fishy taste. I know this place specializes in seafood but hear me out: get the cornbread. It is simply delicious. I have not had better cornbread in my life (so moist and yummy with the butter on top). They heard us talking about the loss of my pet the day before. They kindly sent out a complementary appetizer which was touching. Headed out to congress street for dinner. Definitely a happening place with lively atmosphere. Was a little bit loud but not intrusive. We tried the crab cake, which was pretty good itself, but the arugula and grape slices on top were a little weird. The fried oysters in lettuce cups were well cooked , not too oily, and crispy. For main, we shared the crab meat pasta, which was delicious (since I love pasta) but would have been even better if there was more crab. The waiter was also pretty negligent of our table, focusing on the bigger parties with more expensive tabs. He'd walk by and check on them several times but took about 15 minutes after our raw food order to stop by and ask us for anything. Our cooked food also took incredibly long to come, maybe 25 mins - and all we got was the lettuce cup appetizer and grilled swordfish! As a big fan of oysters, I came here with a seafood craving. It's a good social atmosphere and the food is easy to share with a group but I felt that the food was lacking at the price premiums. My favorite dish was definitely the oysters but of course that would be good. The salmon charcuterie board was interesting and wins second place but the other dishes, namely the clam chowder were a little bit disappointing. There were hardly any clams in the chowder and the flavor was overpowered by the bacon. I personally didn't feel that the food lived up to the hype. PS: Get any oysters other than the Hama Hama!!!! When in Boston order the lobster roll...so I did, despite the price. It's vacation right? Should have had something else. While it was a generous portion, it had no taste and was a bit chewy. When the bill arrived I was surprised to see a "kitchen appreciation" charge, so I asked the waiter what it was for and I was informed it was for the kitchen staff!! A commemorative lunch, remembering a friend who annually treated me to oysters. I had a New England dozen, with two new faves: briny Sweet Necks (Martha's Vineyard) and meaty Riptides (Westport MA). A glass of Domaine de la Ferrandière, fabulous! Then clam chowdah, very rich, and then I went overboard with the delectable crab cake.
