I don't get why on earth this restaurant got only 3 stars. I have been there 4 times during my 12 days in SF, I loved breakfast there. Always good food, service and good atmosphere. You don't feel like in cheap breakfast place, and prices are maybe few dollars more than other usual places, overall you pay around $15-$18 (tip inc) for breakfast with big Americano. Especially around 9am they were always busy but did not have to wait for my order longer than 10min. 100% recommend!!! Oh and good free WiFi for :) read more

We have been coming to this spot for years but today was the last time we will eat here. Breakfast was expensive for the quality and quantity. Pancakes might be the worst I have ever had. The breakfast potatoes were bland and really it was similar to the free breakfast you get a Hilton Garden Inn or similar. Sad to leave this review but trust me on this one. read more

Food was great here, thanks to Yelp for finding a cute Italian cafe spot! Service was pretty good and the waitress was very friendly. She always filled up our waters when they were low. The mozzarella sticks were very cheesy but so delicious and the Fettuccine Alfredo was amazing. However, the Penne al Gorgonzola was quite heavy in my opinion so I preferred the Fettuccine over the Penne. The pasta itself was cooked to perfection though. Taking time Out of my lunch to write this, Skimped out on turkey for my Cobb salad, 3 of the smallest thinest pieces of turkey deli meat cut up to look more lol all masked by a small portion of salad (yep you guys fooled me) not to mention it was the worst salad ive had, the blue cheese tasted very acidic, thick pieces of tomatoes, cheap avocados. $16 for a cobb salad is outrageous! We have eaten here on every trip to San Francisco, and we were very disappointed this time. The food was good as usual, but they seemed to be severely understaffed. There was ONE poor waitress working the entire front of the restaurant, including seating, taking orders, delivering food, and making fancy coffee drinks. We almost walked out after 10 minutes of sitting at our table waiting for service, until we realized she was the only working. And she was trying her best, but many people were not very patient. Roxanne is a sweet little place that's been in the neighborhood for years. I used to always get their French toast that was stuffed with cream cheese and berries because it was oh so decadent. Recently, I was hungry and needed to eat dinner, so I dropped in. It was pretty early so it wasn't busy yet. I had a glass of wine (honestly, their wine servings are pretty small) and for an entree I had their shrimp risotto, which was really awesome. It arrived at my table quickly, and nice and hot. Ummm, well, I never go to places like this, simply because it's more of a tourist place to dine. When the city was open (pre-covid) this place is most likely supported by people who visit the city. ( not the locals ) With that said, it's hard to find a decent place to grab some basic grub. I ordered a club sandwich and my girlfriend ordered a chicken sandwich. They gave the original order to the wrong person and my girlfriend had to sit and wait another 15 minutes. Then when we finally got the right order, the turkey in the club sandwich was sour. Both my girlfriend and I, are in the industry ( both Chef's) so we know a little something about food quality. Not to mention that we live in the neighborhood. I suggest that they really look a bit more closer into what the kitchen is doing and what's being served. A ton of great local places have closed left and this incredible city. Don't think for a second that it can't happen to you. At the end of the day ( especially at this time ) all managers and chefs ( kitchen managers) should really be more involved with both aspects of the of a restaurant.( front and back of the house ) You can't get away with relying on tourist anymore. You have to step up and take what you're serving way more serious. We will not be back. Good luck! read more

My girlfriend and I thought we would try something new, and decided to give Roxannes a try. I ordered a meatball sandwich, and she ordered a club, and shared a bowl of minestrone. My sandwich was microwaved, complete rubber, the sauce was ketchup, it was inedible, the fries were cardboard. The club had RAW bacon in it. We sent the club back and the waitress decided that she wanted to argue with us, the chef apparently believes that blue bacon is just fresh bacon. The audacity to charge us for the club was unreal, I didn't have it in me to argue, we paid, left a generous tip, and will never be back. Such a disappointment, the location is amazing, and they have such an opportunity to shine. I have lived in the city my whole life and I eat out 7 to 10 times a week, this was hands down the Worst meal I've ever had in my city. The woman who "welcomed" us seemed inconvenienced that we were there. She was already turning and starting to walk away after I placed my order like she couldn't wait for me to stop talking. With so many places to choose from in SF I'm so glad we ended up here. The cafe itself is small but very charming. It took the waitress a little while to come to the table but I realiZe that it was so that she can give us time to decide on our entire order ( coffee, breakfast item, toast/butter, no butter, etc.) I had the Greek omelet and it was fantastic. PROS: *Practically empty; there wouldn't have been a wait even without our reservation (which is sometimes a red flag, but I think was just the late hour) *The server was perfectly pleasant (what little we saw of her) *The food was quite good; I had the cream of mushroom soup and the mahi mahi special (with mushroom beurre blanc, mashed potatoes and spinach) CONS: *The place is small, and the tables are small and wedged pretty closely together *We waited at least fifteen minutes for water after we were seated - and then it was never once refilled, even though all four of our glasses were almost immediately empty *We waited at least five more minutes for our orders to be taken *Each not-cheap entree on the menu ($18-$23) is a la carte; if you want anything on the side, you pay an extra $4-$8 *We had to ask for bread and butter halfway through our meal (it was cheerfully brought, but come ON) *We were a party of four, and the server took it upon herself to add a 20% tip for herself before bringing us the check; we were too tired at that point to make a scene, but this effrontery really drove the final nail into the coffin for us CONCLUSION: The food was definitely good, but not quite worth what they're charging - especially when you have to be responsible for your own basics like water, bread and butter, and then they nickel-and-dime you if you want a veggie or starch with your protein.
