The food here was very average, nothing really stood out. It wasn't horrible nor was it amazing. I'm comparing my experiences in other chinese restaurants primarily in Queens. I came here on halloween night this year which was a Friday. Arrived around 7pm and there was no wait. The staff wasn't all that welcoming and my friend said they looked a bit upset or annoyed when we were ordering. The food came out quick which was nice. The flavor was lacking. Would only come here if all the other restaurants next door are crowded with a long wait time, otherwise, I probably wouldn't return.

Royal Dim Sum is a much needed addition to Long Island! Good dim sum places are slim pickins on Long Island so I was beyond happy to hear that they opened! For LI, this is a 4 Star restaurant but probably 3-3.5 Stars if compared by the standards of Flushing, Queens. Why? For a few reasons. The variety of items were decent but they didn't seem to have more than two servings of the same item. Also, a few of the items weren't hot; more like room temperature. The flavors could have been bolder. One surprise find was their Ube Egg Custard Sesame Balls. These were really great (& different). They were minimally sweet. I generally don't like overly sweet food so this was perfect for me. Looking forward to having dinner here one day, and returning again for dim sum!

We were back for dim sum again with some other friends. This time we tried the crab and pork soup dumplings in addition to an assortment of other dim sum. The dumplings were not bad, skin a little thick, soupy but little crab is visible. The rest of the dim sum was really good. They are under new management but don't notice any thing different with the dishes. Service is friendly and efficient. Very nice atmosphere. We'll be back!

We went back and tried more food. The cart ladies are so nice!!! They are patient and happily explain everything. The place is always clean and bright.

The Good: 5 minute wait today on a Sunday at 12:30PM! Service was quick and attentive. Absolutely love how close a dim sum spot is close to home on Long Island!! Food was yummy (custard buns, fried taro, sticky rice, beef rolls) all my favorites! The restaurant is also new and modern, tastefully renovated and spacious with plenty of seats! The Mid: we ordered pork soup dumplings and as mentioned in other reviews, the skin is very thick for soup dumplings, but the flavor was still good and yummy! The Bad: nothing to note!

First time coming here as we normally go another spot about 10 minutes away. Overall had a great experience here. Ordered about 7 different things for dim sum. Prices are to be expected and within range of what we normally pay. Not busy when we arrived around brunch time and seated right away. They did not have the cart but instead you check off what you want on a sheet. Does make it easier to order. Food was delish. Family really enjoyed the sesame ball lol as it was a different experience than at other places. I really liked the steamed pork buns and shrimp dumplings. Wifey liked the soup dumplings. And lil man liked the shrimp dumplings as well. Service was attentive and quick. And the inside seating area was clean and brightly lit. Plenty of seating at the time that we came. I can see us coming back as we enjoy dim sum and it's nearby.

Family style portions here. Everything was good. The beef and mushroom soup lacked any umami flavor. Service was quick. This place is large. It's freezing outside, so when the door stayed open for too long I was freezing and closer to the bathroom, so not even close to the entrance. I will come back. The dim sum was so fresh and hot!

First time here recently. I found the service was attentive and they have an extensive menu! Everything was delicious. Only thing was their xiao long bao had thick skin/dough. Almost like a shen jian bao kind of dough. And they had them inside the bamboo steamers in little dan tat foil trays. Once never seen that before. I prefer the wax paper or the lettuce leaves vs these foil trays that stick to the dough. It was still tasty however.

The food is made fresh and has great flavor. The servers are very nice and pretty responsive especially if you get there before the rush. The interior is clean and it looks like your typical dim sum place. Good local spot for anyone in the area hoping for good eats.

Please keep in mind, I have had dimsum in Flushing and Woodside, with that being said, I came here with an open mind expecting it to be close which it was! I've been to other LI dimsum spots and I have to admit, it is delicious here. A bit saltier than what I am used to but let's get into it! We ordered the usuals: - Beef Ball: very good quality, plump and not too salty - Shiu Mai: plump, juicy and freshly made - Chicken Feet: black bean based, portion was good, actual chicken had a lot of meat/collagen - Sticky rice: loved that it had sausage, mushrooms and even pumpkin. Rice was extra sticky so harder than other places to get a clean pull from the wrapper - Bean Curd: this was actually well-soaked in the sauce and braised well but salty - Fried Bacon wrapped Shrimp: This was a show stopper. Came out piping out, a lot of shrimp juices and they were hUge - Crab and pork soup dumplings: wrapper was slightly thicker than other places and meat/pork filling was minimal (extremely overpriced for $15) The service was better than expected for a fast turnover Chinese restaurant. We asked for white rice and waited awhile only to see that our rice was given to a different table but there was a GM/manager there that kept a close eye on all the tables and ensured we got what we needed. Food was great but I do have to mention the prices were higher than typical dimsum. Typically, dishes would be $4 or so but this place started at $5 so, after dishes, drinks and the soup dumplings, our bill was $100 not including tip. I live in Suffolk County so it's a drive to get here but if in the area or up early, I would definitely come back. Note: It was a snowy Sunday at 11AM but we noticed people started trickling more around noon so, try to go by 10AM if you don't want to wait. Even if you do wait, most people wait about 10 minutes or so.

BLUF: Lovely atmosphere; friendly service; mostly bland food. Our recent first visit to Royal Dim Sum was disappointing given their many positive reviews. Much of the food and sauces we had were surprisingly bland. Dishes we had: - Osmanthus Jelly 桂花糕: $5.50. Barely any flavor. The version from Canton Manor has more ingredients and a good goji berry flavor. - Beef Rice Noodle Roll 牛粉: $6.50. Bland, watery, but slightly hard noodle rolls instead of soft and silky noodle rolls, and served with a surprising bland soy sauce. It's absurd that a Chinese restaurant messed up soy sauce. - Beef Short Ribs 牛仔骨: Flavorful but undercooked. We ended up taking this to go because it was too chewy to eat at the table, and recooked it at home. - Turnip Cake 蘿蔔糕: $5.50. Bland, hard, served to us with a watered-down hoisin sauce. - Pearl Shrimp Balls 珍珠蝦丸: $6.50. Shrimp balls covered in a bland glutinous rice. - Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp Balls 煙肉丸: This was probably the best of the dishes we tried. Good flavors, moist, and not excessively greasy. Atmosphere: Our dining booth was very comfortable, and the noise level of the dining room was moderate when we were there, around 65 to 70db. The men's and women's restrooms were well-maintained. Service: Service was friendly and generally good. One of the waiters noticed us struggling eat the turnip cake, and acknowledged that it could have been better. Unfortunately, nothing came of it. It would be nice if management empowered the servers to do something about poor food quality. Other: There is $1 surcharge per person for tea. There is a 5% discount for cash payment. Suggested tips are based on pre-tax subtotals prior to cash discount, and start at 18%.

Whenever I can get dim sum without having to find parking in flushing is a good thing. The shumai was delicious and so were the other items we had. I will definitely come back to try more.

The wonton soup was decent......wontons were very good but the broth however was a bit bland. Roast pork fried rice was pretty good.....a little dry and skimpy on the pork but the flavor was more than adequate. Hot and sour soup was really tasty with a good bit of spice. Scallion bubble pancake was very light and tasty. The Emperor cabbage appetizer was probably my favorite meal item.....crispy cabbage tossed in a peanuty garlic sauce with honey. It was served cold (which usually I'm not a big fan of, but this was an exception) and had a great flavor. Pork belly appetizer tasted very good but it wasn't crispy (which would have made it so much better) and the buns they were served with didn't taste completely fresh. Dan Dan noodles with ground beef was excellent.... they're served spicy and you can simply request the level of heat you prefer to fit your taste buds. Soup dumplings were of decent size and quite juicy...... unfortunately they lacked some flavor. Mongolian beef dish was excellent as was the kung pao chicken. Overall it was a pretty good meal but there was some room for improvement. The staff was very nice and it did have quite a cool "old school American Chinese restaurant" vibe from yesteryear.

They had a pretty good assortment of Chinese food and sushi. Sushi was fine and although they were on the smaller side, the fish to rice ratio was actually great. They even had some specialty rolls. The selection isn't as good a Mizumi but it got the job done. Dumplings were good and I enjoyed the egg drop soup. Most of the Chinese food that I tried was pretty good but nothing fantastic. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and I had a good meal. Lunch was $20.99 and a soda was like $2.50-$3.00 (I don't remember). It was quick and easy.
