The service is great. They fix mistakes right away. Food was decent for not being a BK joint or Flushing joint. I enjoyed the shrimp dim sum we had and the chicken sticky rice. The only thing is if you are allergic to certain food, there could be cross contamination in the back so you may not want to chance it if you have severe allergies to shellfish, octopus or squid. We ordered the fish balls which only made with fish but it must've touched with something else as he ended up with a reaction. Staff were concerned and checked with the chef. They kept checking in after we alerted them. All staff spoke mandarin and I think one spoke Cantonese and the hostesses were fluent in English. My sad Mandarin couldn't catch up, though. He took benedryl and it dissipated slowly. He did have veggie chow fun and had no issues with it so main dishes seem to be separately prepared. Turnover was quick. I had pretty high expectations coming in being a Flushing and China town dim sum veteran and was very pleased with the quality of the food and ambiance. We ordered the Mango Sago Pomelo dish, Salted Egg Bun (sweet), Shrimp dumpling (hacao), and the beef ball (not pictured). The hacao was served hot, I love it when you take a bite and you realize you need to pause as it's too hot. Give the salted egg a try, had a unique egg tart type taste. It was actually my favorite, a must order when you're there. The mango dish is cold, a great way to finish off your meal. Mango pieces and sago were soft and I appreciated the bits of pomelo. The thing that stood out to me was the beef balls (not pictured) as I am a fan of the dim sum style Chinese beef balls. These were big balls with a good share of vegetables, and the balls were the biggest beef balls I had at any dim sum place, as well as being quite hot. Tea is complimentary in classic dim sum style. The best thing is the price. It has to be the least I ever spent on a satisfying dinner for two in Long Island. Heard a new dim sum place opened up and we had to check it out. It's definitely hard to find a decent dim sum place outside of the boroughs. Royal Dim Sum has some potential, but there are a lot of kinks that may need to be worked out. First thing like others have mentioned is that service needs to be improved. Half the time we had no clue what was on the carts being rolled around. Only one guy stopped to tell us what was in his cart. The other ladies pushed by quickly we didn't have a chance to see. We needed the expert cart ladies that say what's in their carts as they pass you and ask if you wanted anything. We had to ask one of the waiters to hunt down items for us. Another issue is not having enough of the popular items such as the ha gow (shrimp dumplings) or the ha cheung (shrimp rice rolls). They were out of the items when we went. The food we did get to try were good. The salted egg yolk buns were unique but we found that the flavor wasn't consistent on how much salted egg you tasted. Some just had custard flavor. The fried rice and e fu mushroom noodles were good. It was just an okay experience. May need to revisit to see if they improve later on. read more

The service was absolutely atrocious. They brought out one appetizer and soup and completely forgot about another soup. They brought out two entrees within a few minutes but the other two did not come out. We had to track down three different waiters before they brought the soup. We ended up canceling the other two entrees because it took so long for them to come out. We were given an insincere apology and an excuse about the kitchen but it should not take an hour to prepare a Wonton soup and a chicken and broccoli. When we waved down the manager to get help, he just had another waiter come check on us. This was a really disappointing way to celebrate Fathers Day. I hope their service improves because the food was tasty, when it did come. EDIT: Upgraded my review from one star to two stars after the manager took 50% off the bill following our bill. We ordered turnip cake, fried rice flour dumpling, fried taro dumpling. Chicken feet, durian pastry, purple yam sesame balls, soup dumplings. We want rice rolls with beef and shrimp they did not have any, after reading other reviews since opening they did not have it either, this is not good. The fried dumplings had the same filling with little seasoning, also turnip cake bland, chicken feet looked day old, soup dumpling was Luke warm, the food was kept in a cabinet instead of hot cabinet, the food was room temperature. Dishes looked nothing like the menu photos, and one was swapped out without explanation--we only found out from the cart server that they were out of it.
