They just opened and I was so excited to try this out. We started with the minced beef w/ egg white cilantro soup which was so flavorful. Tiny chunks of beef and cilantro leaves in an egg drop soup base. The crispy noodle combo had an amazing sauce and packed with seafood and chicken and veggies and everything delicious. The star of the meal was the Crispy Stir Fried Sole Fish. It was huge with a savory light ginger sauce that we just loved. The staff is so nice and patient with all our questions. I went specifically for the Ma Po tofu and it was far beyond my hopes. The tofu was soft, yet firm enough to easily be eaten with my clumsy left-handed American chopstick skills. The sauce was perfectly spicy and built up to a four sneeze finale. It was a nice accompaniment to the hot and sour soup that was slightly more hot than sour. An order of shu mai helped temper the heat of the other dishes. The location is a bit unfortunate as the store front faces a large Tom Thumb parking lot rather than Parker or Independence so it's not easy to notice driving by. Once inside, the decor is simple, but clean and comfortable. A TV was airing a documentary about plants in Chinese that I didn't understand, but enjoyed watching. read more

My husband and I loved this place! The duck was exceptional!! The skin was super crispy and also came with sugar to dip which I never had it that way before. But it just works! The pancake was super thin. Probably the thinnest pancake I've ever had with duck but I prefer it thin. The owner was super nice and talked to me about how they age their duck. Orange beef had terrific punch and flavor. Chicken in Szechuan sauce was also really tasty. Wasn't spicy, and did not see a way to indicate desired spice level with online order. We just went to this restaurant and was very pleased with our experience! We actually found out about this place on Instagram as the place was featured for its Peking Duck. It was definitely a highlight dish. They come to your table and carve it in front of you. You get the skin dipped in sugar first which I hadn't tried before but it makes for such a wonderful bite. The fattiness and crispiness of the skin combined with the sugar makes for a heavenly, caramelized, salty and slightly sweet bite. The rest of the meat and skin is served with pancakes, scallions, cucumbers and duck sauce which you put together yourself. You are also able to bring the duck bones home if you'd like or pay more for them to use it in a soup I think. Anyway, we enjoyed the other dishes we got and some highlights were the three fresh delicacies which is eggplant, potatoes and peppers that's a popular Chinese dish, the egg lava custard buns were some of the best I've had in the States, the squirrel fish was nice and unique. Note that some dishes like the Peking duck you do need to pre-order. They don't have many servers, at least when we went so service does take awhile but it was good and worth the wait. We had pre-ordered crab fried rice but they ran out of crab so they used lobster instead and only charged us for the price of crab which I thought was very generous. I was also impressed by their vast menu selection. You order on an iPad and they only give one per table so that was also different. They are open on Christmas day. We went in for a late lunch around 2pm. They were busy. We were sat in the large dining room. Nice decor. We were given a tablet to pit in a electronic order. We shared beef eggrolls and beef pancake rolls. Delicious. My husband couldn't get enough of the pancake. Said it was the best Chinese dish he's ever had. I ordered the General Tso Tofu and added fried rice for $1. The sauce was so yummy. The tofu had a great creamy consistency. Hub ordered orange beef. Said it was so spicy, but so good. This was my first time trying this restaurant. It's very spacious and clean inside, and the service was amazing! We got the Roast Duck, and for me this was the best duck that I have had in all of DFW, and I've had it many places. Amazingly tender and flavorful! My friend and I hadn't intended on coming in for Chinese food, but we both had cravings for classic take out and decided to stop on in. However, we were met with a very authentic and homestyle experience. It was a pleasant and welcoming surprise to me. We were greeted at the front and ushered to a seat where we were very kindly considered and introduced to the online menu. Our server reminded me a lot of my own mom and I instantly came to like this place. The ambiace is rather quiet, as I believe this is a family run, hole in the wall restaurant, which is my favorite kind of business to support! The bathrooms are clean and modern as well. The Dim sum and seafood prices were on the higher end, but because we were considering classic take out options, we were not too concerned. I ordered the Chicken and Broccoli while my friend got the Pork. Each entree comes with rice, and I was very pleased to find that the food was not over saturated with salt and MSG, making for a very genuine and flavorful taste. I have no idea how this place has 4.5 stars. I'm Asian and I've frequented tons of Asian food so I feel like my critiques are fair. Ordered pick up. Lava buns, shao mai, scallion lamb, bbq pork buns, shrimp Cheung fun, fried shrimp ball, sweet rice chicken. The lady on the phone seemed to have no idea what was going on. She spoke perfect English, so it's not a communication or language issue. She said some of the items I ordered aren't available and then checked the menu and said we can order them. When I was 5 mins away, they called me and said they had to cancel my fried shrimp ball, sweet rice chicken, and shrimp cheung fun. And that's fine if you don't have an item, but why did you confirm it in the first place and then change your mind? When ordering, the lady over the phone asked if I wanted white rice or fried rice with my lamb. She did not say it was extra charge for white rice, otherwise I wouldn't not have gotten it. The white rice I did receive was in really small container. The container was smaller than a typical "small" box that you would order at typical asian restaurants and the small container was only 2/3 filled. If you want to overcharge for small rice, that's your business but they made it sound like the rice was included. The scallion lamb was $20 and more than half the order was onions and scallions with a small portion of lamb. Bbq pork buns were overdone where the bread was too firm and not chewy. The char siu bbq flavor on the inside was lacking and tasted like they used too much soy sauce in their mix. The custard lava buns are $10 for 6 pieces. I only got 3 pieces in my box. One of the 3 buns were really wet and collapsed the outside buns. It's not the steam and moisture in the container because the other two buns were great. It's like they had a bun turn out bad and thought it's okay to serve that. The shrimp shaomai was fine but not special. Overall VERY disappointed. There's tons of competition for asian food in this area and there's a dozen other places I would recommend over this restaurant. read more

After coming here with my boyfriend, this has officially become my top dim sum restaurant to go to in the DFW area. The staff and owner are so welcoming, kind, and efficient with their service. Anytime we needed anything, they were right there to check on us and provide what we asked for. The inside is spacious and beautifully decorated. The booths are also very comfortable. The restroom is also clean and has a cool sink design. We ordered a large variety of dishes including clams in black bean sauce, eggrolls, beef shank and tripe in chili sauce, mala crawfish, Chinese broccoli, sticky cakes, and pork xiaolongbao. Everything was SO good and I am so excited to return when I'm in town again. I especially loved the crawfish and the beef shank and tripe in chili sauce, I could not stop thinking about these dishes in the days after. We also tried their homemade peanuts, which were served warm and fresh. The sticky cakes for dessert were also the perfect amount of sweet and chewy. I am incredibly excited to return when I'm back in town. 12/24/2023 Came in around 3:30 to order some dim sum. They didn't have any of the typical dim sum items on the menu such as pork shumai, shrimp hargow, pork ribs in black bean sauce or chicken feet with was strange to me. Apparently they were very busy earlier and all the popular items were out. The other items we ordered were Steamed shrimp dumplings and shrimp and chive dumplings- good filling and tender but it feel apart once I dipped it in my sauce Egg rolls- hot and crispy but greasy Shrimp rice roll- not transparent as other restaurants but light and delicate Not a fan of the soy sauce that came with it. Rice wrapped in lotus leaf- best one, everything worked well with each other Salt and pepper squid- presentation was nice but the squid was over cooked and not as crispy but I assume they use a different breading method. The server and owners (I assume) came and apologized for not having the items I ordered and compensated with red bean sesame balls. New place in Plano. Was warmly greeted by the owner. She was very sweet and nice. She said it's their soft opening right now , but grand opening is Monday 18th. Here is what we ordered. Mongolian beef, salt pepper crispy shrimp, xiao long bao, shrimp and pork shomai, beef flat noodle, shrimp rice noodles, hot sour soup, and their jasmine tea. We would say the food was good. Mongolian beef had good flavor, but the beef was a little bit tougher than what I'm used to. The beef flat noodles were good. The owner said they made their noodles in house. Hot & sour soup color was different than what I'm used to, but it was very good. We like to add hot chili oil to give it a little kick. The salt and pepper crispy shrimp and shrimp rice noodle were good as well. Our least favorite was the shrimp and pork shomai. Their jasmine tea was probably one of the best I've had. They use real tea leaves vs some places that have tea pouches. Overall the place is good. They were so sweet and nice. We came in during dinner time about 40 minutes before restaurant was closing. We were worried staff would be annoyed with us coming in so last minute (would understand if they were annoyed) but they were so nice with us. They sat us and never rushed us the entire time we were there. We recommend you guys coming in earlier in the day or earlier in the evening because they'll run out of certain dishes. The food was great though. Like everyone else, we thought it would be a Cantonese restaurant but it's not after we started reading the menu and it said "northern style dim sum". So we got the hint that Royal Kitchen is a northern Chinese style cuisine restaurant. It's NOT a Cantonese restaurant. For those that don't know, Northern Chinese food is known for comfort food in the winter and is a little bit saltier and sometimes spicier compared to southern Chinese and they have a wheat based diet. They generally also don't speak Cantonese in the north. So if you're coming in looking for some Cantonese style cuisine, this is not the place for you. I would come back the next time we come back to Dallas. The owner, Renee is a very kind older lady. She took her time trying to get to know us even though we were visiting from Austin. I'm very glad that there is another dim sum toward north Dallas. This place is really good. Everything tastes fresh, but it does take time for the food to come out. Dimsum is ordered on a paper menu. Please note that there are no pictures of the dishes. The cheng fun (shrimp rolls) are made fresh and take the longest to make, so I recommend ordering that first. We came on a weekend, and there were plenty of seatings. Everyone was friendly and accommodating to us. They also have great knowledge of their menu. Just tried out Dim Sum today at Royal Kitchen. You can really tell that their food is fresh and made with good quality ingredients without that "frozen food" taste. Certain items were definitely good while others were just okay. The Xiao long bao and black bean ribs lacked flavor and were a little to greasy/fatty in my opinion. My friend and I went for lunch, and while they currently do not have a lunch menu, the pricing isn't bad for the portion size you receive. Highly recommend Royal Kitchen! We had heard great things about the Peking Duck and it far exceeded expectations! The duck was masterfully carved and served with all the usual accompaniments including flour crepes (as opposed to steamed buns). We also had them take the remainder of the duck back which they prepared into two additional separate dishes - fried with lots of delicious seasonings, and into a warm, comforting soup. It was all incredible. We also had the fried green beans which were the best I've had as they included some Sichuan pepper and the custard buns, which came piping hot filled with rich custard.
