RPMs catering services are incredible and they went absolutely above and beyond to make my family party a huge success! I had an extraordinarily positive experience from start to finish - from submitting my initial inquiry online to my partner chatting with the delivery food driver at the drop-off, everyone was a kind, caring, and experienced professional. I cannot sing the RPM catering staff's praises enough. I was hosting a party for my family in a space where there was little to no heating elements. Most drop-off catering services will provide cold food that you will need to reheat (e.g. see Whole Foods, Marianos, Goddess and Grocer, etc.). I did not have that capability (nor capacity) to reheat entire dishes at the event venue. RPM ensured my dishes arrived hot and ready, and took the time to confirm the food and my experience was satisfactory. My sincere and most heart-felt thanks to the catering staff - Makayla, Caitlin, and ESPECIALLY Amanda who held my proverbial hand when I had a full-blown panic. Amanda was so patient and reassuring, I would not be surprised if she was also a professionally trained psychologist or crisis-intervention social worker. :-) RPM, please give all these folks a raise for me, will you? read more

I have been fortunate to enjoy some pretty good fine dining (maybe even upscale) experiences... A few years ago, I learned my preference for cooking my favorite steak, the filet mignon, was RARE +. Initially, to me, I thought that meant it would be more rare than rare, but it was explained that it was in between rare and medium rare... Up until last night, I had my filets cooked that way for probably at least the last four years, all with varying degrees of success around that understanding, but none of them made me walk away and say, "That was it - that is EXACTLY how RARE + should be..." Until last night. Perfect. Immaculate. Genuine. Now, for the rest of the review. We (group of 5) started off with the Parker House Rolls. With just enough salt sprinkled on top and the perfect amount of yeastiness / fluffiness for my taste, they were a great beginning. We had (more than one) order of the bacon for an appetizer. Me being a farm boy at heart, you can always get my attention with bacon; sometimes I want some of the bacon, other times, like Ron Swanson, I want ALL of it... Well. I had NEVER had bacon prepared like this before, but I can promise you it won't be the last. Everyone at our table agreed if the portion sizes were increased, this dish could easily serve as its own entree... As I've already monologued on the steak, I have to mention the sides, or at least one of them... We had the bacon mac-n-cheese (yes, more bacon - that's NEVER a bad thing in my opinion) and it was as good or better than any I've ever had. 11/10. Throughout the meal, I sipped on the recommended Cabernet Sauvignon and it was one of the best I've enjoyed in recent memory and was a perfect accompaniment to all of my selections. To top off the great meal, I finished up with a section of the Baked Alaska flambéed tableside and portioned out. It was absolutely delicious with a myriad of flavors within each bite - not competing against each other, but rather complementing... Also, I tremendously enjoy a glass of Port wine to top off my meal, and my standard deference is a Tawny, but the waitress talked me into something a little different (and a little cheaper), and for the life of me (embarrassed) I can't remember what it was, but I was surprisingly delighted! It was just a little bit more lively than the Tawny I was used to and exactly the best way to end the meal. (So, my suggestion is to always consider the server's recommendations!) Finally, as we were finishing our last bites, the Manager, Dion, made his way to our table and we engaged in conversation for several minutes. He genuinely made us feel like he was appreciative of our being there and wanted to make sure we had a good experience, which we did. As our group was familiar with RPM in Washington, DC, and one of us in attendance had set up this reservation due to previous experiences with them, he wanted to make sure this location met our expectations, which it absolutely did... To the entire staff at RPM Steak in Chicago, thank you for a memorable meal and an enjoyable evening. My favorite was the baked alaska because of it's beautiful tableside presentation  What we ordered: Chilled oysters: jalapeno added a kick and the cucumber highlighted the freshness Truffled cheese-baked focaccia: *highly recommend* the fluffy bread was great. it was soaked with butter, garlic, herbs and a generous amount of cheese Akaushi porterhouse: *highly recommend* we had a family style dinner and this entree made it very easy to share! I took my brother to celebrate at RMP steak and it was one of the best meals we've eaten. We started out with the Parker House rolls and they were perfectly fluffy and buttery. Next we ordered a Caesar salad, Parmesan spinach & risotto for sides. For our mains, we ordered steaks. I ordered the filet and he ordered the cowboy cut. Both steak were perfectly cooked and our servers came by frequently to check on us. Great service! By the end of it we were so full, but our server recommended the ice cream cookie sandwiches and we couldn't resist! They were sublime. Came to RPM for a celebration and I don't think I could have eaten one more bite of anything before leaving. Everything we ate was just amazing. I started with the shrimp which was the largest I had every seen. I had the Sakura strip which just melted in my mouth every bite. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was so soft and flavorful. We ordered the risotto and the hasselback potato. The risotto was something out of this world! It was worth every penny and just bursting with flavor. And finally the donuts. Covered in sugar and served with a mix of chocolate. let me start off by saying I live in Los Angeles however I do visit Chicago multiple times a year and every single time I always go here to grab dinner hands-down one of the best steaks I've ever had is the filet mignon at this establishment. Not to mention, they also give you a gravy boat of whatever sauce you want to put on your steak. The staff at the door was excellent, taking our coats, taking our orders, recommending dishes to try, with quick prompt service. The atmosphere was definitely fitting for the type of place this way. The appetizer we got, the Tataki, was good but didn't feel like anything special, it satisfied but the taste wasn't amazing. The main course was a different story. The tomahawk was cooked to perfection. I like my steaks juicy, easy to chew, and full of flavor; this checked every box. The real gem however, was the millionaire's potato. We genuinely were surprised at how good it tasted, how flavorful it was, and how well it paired with the tomahawk. Why 3 Stars? Great service, awesome atmosphere, and great cocktails BUT Steak was not what I would expect from a Steak place. Stopped in from a business trip from Chicago. Had reservations which was great. Still had some time to kill so I hung out at the bar. The bartender really knew her stuff. Great service, friendly and mixed a NICE drink for both my colleague and I. Dinner was very good as well. Started w/ the thick cut bacon which was fantastic. I ordered the Kansas City Cut Dry Age cut steak and it was good but not great. When I go to a steak place of this caliber and price, I really want to be blown away by any steak on the menu, and this one was just OK. Not saying it was bad at all, but when steak is in your name, it's gotta blow you away :). Unfortunately this is where RPM fell short in my book and why I had to give this place a 3 star. RPM serves elegance and ambiance right. I went with my bff here and we had an amazing time. We ordered a couple of glasses of white riojas and started with the Thick cut bacon as an appetizer. We both are bacon fiends so really appreciated how it was dressed along with the flavors from those buttery fatty pieces - which is personally my favorite. He ordered a steak which came out smelling wonderful while I ordered the half miso lobster. We also got the whipped potatoes, spicy broccollini and the millionaire's potato. All were very good. I didn't think we were gonna do it but we ordered dessert -the 14k chocolate cake and the vanilla sugar donuts. And because our server was thoughtful and amazing, he sent over some cotton candy to celebrate my bday. Although, I wanted the donuts, the cotton candy ended the meal perfectly for me. Steaks were well seasoned and cooked wellish. My only complaints are one, is the the filet was undercooked. It was supposed to be medium rare and was closer to rare. Two, skip the Brussel sprouts it's more of just Brussel shavings. Very tasty but there a better sides to choose. Dessert looked delicious but we ended up skipping since we were full. This was the best meal I've had in Chicago in a long, long time. My partner and I came here to celebrate both of us getting promotions, and our experience was just as special as we'd hoped. Our server asked us why we were there, and we told them, and they were so kind in congratulating us. They gave us recommendations and went above and beyond to make sure we had a good experience. We started with drinks, I got a Seaside Cooler which was very light and refreshing. For starters, I got the Colossal Tiger Prawn. They're not joking about the size. It was perfectly cooked and so worth it though, and the sauces that come with it were both delicious. My partner got the Wagyu Tartare and it was fantastic. The wagyu just melts in your mouth. We also got the Gruyere Popovers with the house Nordic butter. The popovers are good, but that butter is herbed and pretty phenominal. For entrees, we both opted for the special wagyu prime rib. It was incredible. The meat was tender, the jus was flavorful and perfectly seasoned. My partner got hers with hen of the woods mushrooms. I opted for the Millionaire's Potato, and it was so luxurious. It was creamy with the perfect amount of truffle. We've never been to an RPM restaurant before but we were very happy with our meal! We got: Parker house rolls - 9/10 delicious! Wish they had a smaller portion but the sea salt was the perfect touch. Crispy Brussels - 9.5/10 SO GOOD. Wish there were some full Brussels not all shavings BUT the flavor was on point. Salty, savory and spice on the back end. Roasted carrots - 7/10 these were good, we enjoyed the yogurt sauce but would prob opt to try something else next time. 8oz filet - perfect cut and perfect size for me. Cooked to my liking! I asked for additional salt bc my personal preference but very satisfied. The Duke Ribeye - my husband was slightly disappointed in the texture, which I agree was a bit grainy but the server did warn him it wasn't a. Traditional ribeye. Still very good flavor. We also for complimentary cotton candy for my birthday which my husband enjoyed haha my only complaint is the server was very slow to check back on us. We waited several minutes for silverware after our food was delivered and he didn't check on if our steaks were satisfied until we were basically done. After visiting RPM Seafood and RPM Italian for previous anniversaries, RPM Steak was a no brainer. I always appreciate the ambiance of the RPM establishments- chic, spacious and clean. I love the fact that the tables and booths are spaced out enough where you can enjoy your dinner without feeling crowded. The hostess staff was nice and courteous. We were seated promptly after a very short wait. Our waiter, Jackson, did an excellent job explaining the menu, specials and his personal favorites. My wife and I ordered the shredded kale salad, Parker house rolls, Duke filet, Bernie Miller chop, gnocchi al forno and the roasted sweet corn. Everything was delicious! First of all, service was terrific as one would expect from a high end steakhouse. Our food experience was quite the dichotomy as certain dishes were stellar, and others were really disappointing. To start, the Parker House rolls, Roasted Baby Beet salad, and Shredded Kale salad were all really enjoyable. While the beets were sweet and light, calling the kale a salad is a bit misleading, as it is super cheesy with a hearty amount of absolutely perfectly cooked bacon. My medium rare NY strip steak was delicious, which it should be for $106. It was lean, but flavorful, and perfectly cooked with a nice crust and juicy center. The sides, however, were all big disappointments. The brussel sprouts consisted of fried leafy outer layers and not much substance, and they were so overly salty they were inedible. The whipped potatoes had a somewhat mealy texture and lacked creaminess despite the blue cheese. In summary, highly recommend for steak and salads, but steer clear of the sides. read more

Been to RPM Seafood and now got to try RPM Steak! They are literally walking distance apart. Same great service, great food, and great ambiance. You absolutely have to reserve in advance and they require a deposit which of course is refunded when you arrive. As you can imagine, great steak options. They do have Creekstone steaks on the menu which is a plus! I ordered mine medium well and it was absolutely perfect! They do have some seafood options on the menu in case you are dining with someone who doesn't eat meat. Their chocolate cake was a perfect dessert to top it off! You can hotspot for parking to the attached parking or valet. We did valet and had a great experience. Make sure you bring cash for valet as that's the only format of payment that's accepted. read more

The short version: the food is great, the service was great and the vibe/music/decor was AWESOME. I normally set ok expectations for chain steakhouses but RPM blew it out of the water! We started off with the baby seafood tower for $120 and it was the freshest oysters (I HATE oysters normally) biggest shrimp I've seen in my life, and the bounciest lobster tail. Then the next course was a creamy and zesty shiitake kale Caesar salad ($14). Next we got the ~$80 20 oz ribeye to share as well as a side of brussel sprouts and fries. The sides were just ok and probably could have skipped but the steak was phenomenal and I still dream about it!! It was so nicely cut and a perfect medium rare with yummy truffle butter to add. I came to RPM with my family on a Saturday night. We came with reservations and were sat promptly once all of our table arrived. They have valet for $20 but also there's street parking that'll cost you $10. The interior and ambiance of this place is classy, as the dim lighting and sleek design set the mood. Once seated, we ordered some drinks. I got an old fashion and the drink was well made and the orange peel was rolled up cutely. Then we got appetizers. We got the Parker House Rolls and the Iceberg Wedge salad. The rolls were so pillow-soft and the butter/salt was just right. The Iceberg Wedge was tasty but the salad lacked creativity. For the main, my girlfriend and I split the 10oz center cut filet and the wagyu burger. I was surprised when the steak came precut, as in the past they had not done this and I wish they hadn't. The steak was very juicy but didn't have as much crust as desired. It also was slightly over cooked for a medium steak. The wagyu burger melted in your mouth but not sure if the price justified it. The fries that came with it were so crispy and good. We also got some sides - hen of the wood mushrooms, parmesan spinach and millionaire potatoe. The mushrooms were cooked nicely and had a lot of flavor. The spinach and millionaire potatoe was good too (although, the millionaire potatoes could use a bit less garlic). To end the meal, as a courtesy, they bring out a different flavored cotton candy each week and I absolutely love this flair. It's a signature thing of theirs and i think it's such a good idea (i also love cotton candy). this one was cherry limeade and it was close to the flavor. While I appreciate our server for their thoroughness in breaking down the menu and considering allergens, I felt the service was a bit slow and not as attentive as i'd expect for a place of this caliber. Overall the experience was good but the price tag did not justify it this time for me. Rating based off the overall experience - food is 5 stars, atmosphere is not. The Caesar salad and popovers were great. The tomahawk steak was amazing and so were the sides. The staff was nice. We had a reservation but still had to wait almost 20 minutes for our table to be ready. All the food is so amazing at this restaurant but unfortunately the atmosphere of this great restaurant is taken away by the dress code not being enforced. There are tables with people wearing sweatshirts and acid washed ripped jeans with baseball caps. There were girls walking around in Jean cut off shorts. There was a grown man with his shoes off at the table stretching them out from under the table. It's a shame that a restaurant of this caliber does not enforce a dress code to make for an all around great experience for all of the guests. read more

Me and my boyfriend came here to celebrate our 6th anniversary together. They did an excellent job of making the occasion special. Our waiter was the kindest and took the time to explain the whole menu to us since this was our first time dining with them. They gave us complimentary champagne to toast for our anniversary which I thought was very nice! Starters: We ordered the truffle garlic focaccia bread. So delicious because I LOVE truffle! I ordered this same bread at RPM italian. The bread is so fresh, crispy and flavorful. Steak frites: I don't eat steak much but when I do I always order steak frites if they have it. I was very happy with my choice. I ordered my steak medium and it was PERFECT. Probably the best steak I've ever had. Super juicy and flavorful. It comes with a side of their black truffle béarnaise which is like the best steak sauce I've ever had. They give a big portion of frites! They were nice and crispy. Bone-in Kansas cut: My boyfriend thought his steak was really good, however, he ordered medium rare but his steak was more rare than he wanted. It was super pink on the inside so he was a little bummed. Sides: We shared the crispy brussels sprouts & the hasselback. The brussels sprouts were good of course. I would've liked if there was actual thick pieces of sprouts. Instead it was all shavings of the sprouts. The potato hasselback was ok. It's basically a deep fried potato with ridges cut along the backside and served with sour cream. It could've been more flavorful. It was pretty basic. For dessert, they gave complimentary cotton candy for us which brought us back to our childhoods. Then we separately ordered their baked Alaska because we've never had it before. They brought out the cutest ice cream cake on a small cart and poured some rum in a pot then lit it on fire. They then poured the rum mixture by spoon over the cake so the whole cake was on fire! Then they extinguished the fire by pouring melted chocolate all over the cake. The whole experience was so cool and it was so good to eat after watching them prepare it! The baked Alaska serves 2-4 people. The waiter did say it was ice cream cream cake but when eating it, it was like 95% ice cream with a very thin layer of cake on the bottom. Still very good though and the rum and chocolate complimented each other very well! My only complaint about this place is how salty everything was. The menu had many options as I am not a steak lover myself, I felt I had much ti choose from. I went to RPM with a couple of guests for dinner two Saturdays ago. We had a nice, but not great, meal. We ordered three NY strips, all medium rare. We received two beautiful medium rare strip steaks and a very thick, very rare strip of some steak. That piece was way too rare for my tastes (just warm and still somewhat raw. I sent it back for some additional cooking while my guests dove into their steaks. It came back just about medium rare but over charred. I would have sent it back but my guests were halfway done with their steaks. All the sides we ordered and our desserts were very good. Some things that kept me from giving it 5 stars was the loud dance music, the loud conversations all around and the very casual attire on many other diners. There really was nothing special about RPM any longer. It doesn't stand up to many of the NYC steakhouses I go to. read more

I ordered RPM steak to go about a month ago and I have to say for a to-go steak house everything was surprisingly phenomenal. The food was still warm by the time I made it home. BUT this past weekend I finally made it there to eat in person. My friend and I made patio reservations- it was so nicely put together but it was cold so I do recommend wearing warm shoes and a coat). When we arrived we were socially distanced checked in and had our temperatures taken and then escorted outside. We got settled in and pulled up the QR menu on our phones. Food: we got half dozen oysters ( they were so good we got a second order) coal roasted king crab- I am drooling thinking about this. I would probably would want to order 10 just for myself and eat it as an entree. 16 oz rare NY strip- they cut it for me and my friend since we were sharing and it was so good- took left overs home and reheated so nicely the next day. spicy broccolini- this is just perfection for a vegetable. it is honestly the best broccolini I have had at a restaurant ( i ordered it to go and had it in the restaurant) Overall I thought the food was great but by that point in the evening we were so cold we asked if we could move inside with our waiter since indoor dining opened up and management staff was so friendly and were able to accommodate our request. We continued our evening with a Baked Alaska dessert (delicious) and some more cocktails for drinks we had the spritz and giggles, prosecco, espresso martini and we asked our waiter for the bartender to make us a vodka based shot- no idea what it was but it was great! Over all- superb service, delicious food and cocktails, the inside of the restaurant was nicely socially distanced and there was no point where I felt uncomfortable. 10/5, one of the best meals we have had in a long time, and contender for best steakhouse ever. I feel like RPM is what STK wants to be. The space is big, and just dark enough to set the scene but you can still see your table mates and read the menu. The ceilings are tall and the music is just the right level without being too loud but puts a great modern twist on the classic steakhouse. Service throughout was fantastic, our server was knowledgeable and had great recommendations. We started with the A5 Wagyu Appetizer special. This was incredible and came with a hot stone for you to cook the wagyu at your table. The wasabi that came with it was freshly grated and the soy sauce complimented the wagyu really well. This was incredible and if they have it when you come it's a must get. For entrees we got the 10oz center cut filet, the 12oz Bison filet and the brussel sprouts. Everything was exceptional. The steaks were perfectly cooked, had a great sear on them, and were seasoned incredibly well. Pro tip: ask for extra of the pickled peppers that come with them, those were great! We celebrated our anniversary at RPM last minute and we are so glad we were able to get a same day reservation. The food was really delicious and worth the hype. Hubby got some wagyu steak and I got the 10oz ribeye. We ordered a couple of appetizers and so glad we got the focaccia and the crab cause it was legit the best appetizers we ever had. A little disappointed on the service and food we experienced here yesterday. Compared to other steakhouses in Chicago this does not make it to the top 10. We had a reservation when the restaurant opened but still waited 5 mins for a hostess to see us. For such an expensive restaurant I'd expect better service when you walk in. Also no coat check? Really? For a high end steakhouse in the winter. When it came to food it was average at best. The $125 wagyu steak was dry and over cooked. The sides were cold and not that great. Dessert was disappointing. The only food that shined was the seafood which the restaurant does not cook. Do not put your trust in this kitchen. Water service is terrible. My pregnant wife who was drinking water at dinner waited over 30 minutes for a water refill. Never been to a restaurant where she was treated so poorly for not drinking. Ambiance is really the only positive from the experience. Service and food needs a lot of work. read more

Check your bill, folks! After reviewing my receipt, I found the 3.5% service charge with the disclaimer that it's being added to offset their rising costs and that it will be removed on request. I just paid $250 for lunch for 2 people for a special occasion. The shady charge is unacceptable. It's supposed to be a high-end establishment. Act like it! read more
