I LOVE RUBIOS!!! We were told the wait could be about 20 mins, no worries!!! Their original fish tacos have always been a must have favorite! But what the heck is with the French fries??!!!! Lol while our kids will never turn down French fries, we were charged $. 25 cents for them and this is what they looked like. Half cooked, half not and all the bottom crumbs. Best fish tacos, hands down!! After moving our son into his campus at poly tech, the Mrs. and I were rather hungry. Out of the side of my eye, shining like the North Star, a neon Rubio's sign had me like a shiny fishing lure to a large mouth bass. After a sharp turn, and a finger gesture or two from fellow valley residents there I was parked on the curb to heaven. I knew exactly what I wanted so I went for it. Two classic first taco plate rolled off my tongue like Barry White singing to the ladies! My wife followed my lead and ordered the same. After indulging I'm some pickled jalapeños, our orders arrived. Warm tortillas wrapped around crispy fish fillets, topped with adequate cabbage and lime sauce met my taste buds like mamas home cookin'. Warm black beans and chips rounded out the order perfectly. Went with family for sons birthday. We don't wear masks and have been rejected from other locations kindly. This experience was far from kind. A employee yells across the counter we need masks or have to leave. We mentioned we did not have any, and he yells back to leave. There was no accommodations, no one took time to tell us if there was other methods to order their food. When I informed the company directly of the incident it went completely ignored, still have yet to hear from them. I doubt I will ever return to any Rubio's even when they lift their silly policy. There are respectful ways to handle such situations and their employees have not received such training. Sad , because I loved their tacos. read more

I'll get to why the review is only 2 stars. The food is good, we come to Rubios often and the quality is pretty consistent. Always get their famous fish tacos, always. The reason this got only 2 stars is due to the absolutely disgusting smell emanating from the restrooms. I absolutely love Rubio's! My go to menu item is the Chicken California Bowl with loads of their toasted red salsa. You also can't go wrong with the fish tacos. Honestly, this place has something for everyone. There is steak, chicken and seafood options from top to bottom of the menu. My only complaint is the prices. I don't write reviews often, but I felt this was necessary. We were greeted with the cashier smashing a fly with his hand and not washing it after. A family in front of us, had questions about some ingredients, due to one of their children having an allergy. The manager was not educated on the ingredients, nor did he act like he cared. In the 45 mins we were in the restaurant, not one table was wiped down. The workers walked by dirty tables at least 10x. Families were having to either wipe down the tables themselves, or go outside to eat, while dirty/empty tables sat inside. The trash was overflowing and the salsa area looked it hadn't been wiped down in many hours. My wife took my daughter to the restroom, and commented that it was filthy. We have eaten at this location a handful of times and will not be returning, unfortunately. read more

We haven't been to Rubio's for a while. Kinda a disappointment. We thought we would try taco Tuesday with the beer battered standard taco. Since the pandemic most people seem to order out or have Doordash or Uber Eats bring it to you. Therefore not too many people eat in the dining room and it doesn't get the attention it needs. The floors were dirty, the salsa bar had droppings all over, the napkin dispenser was empty, 1 lime came with 4 tacos, only 6 limes at the salsa bar. Somehow the taco Tuesday of old also tasted different and better. There are better and tastier taco shops to go to. We will be back next year to try again. read more

All three of us added it up and it came out to like 49. I always get 3 tacos and I'm more than full and I can't wait until Tuesday comes around. They are completely unable to understand a special order. I very specifically told them that I wanted nothing with onions on my burrito... it came with onions. My husband asked them to not put the cheese under the food, because he didn't want it to melt into the tortilla, after 5 minutes of them asking if we wanted extra cheese, no cheese, cheese on top... and we kept saying IN the burrito but not UNDER the food so it's not melted... it arrived with melted cheese under the food and a sprinkle of cheese on top. He asked "is this right?" We said "no" and he shrugged and walked off. Now I remember why we stopped coming here. Decent food but only if you want it exactly how they make it. Wow! The last time I ate at a Rubios was circa 2003? 2004? Maybe?! The interior is definitely clean and modern. I ordered the California Bowl with salmon. Husband ordered the especial burrito with steak add shrimp. I had to add some lime and salsa to doctor up mine a bit. But it was good. Wasn't the best thing I ever had. Cost almost $30 for the two of us and prob could have paid less for something better. Service was great. There was only one girl taking orders and serving the food. But she was friendly. Stopped in yesterday to try the shrimp & Mexican street corn tacos. They were delicious. Best tacos I've had from there. Sure wish they weren't a temporary menu item. Loved everything about them - nice cheese crisp bottom which helped hold the tortilla together, corn was roasted with great flavor, a bit of spice but not too much for my inexperienced-with- heat mouth. Biggest ripoff!! I paid $14 for an Avocado Corn Salad with shrimp. Paid $5 for extra shrimp and $4 for extra greens so I could get 2 meals out of it. Well there were about 3 small shrimp in the salad and 6 in the extra portion. The extra greens side was less than a cup of lettuce. It's ridiculous how they rip people off. Great food and a great value. Shrimp burrito and fish tacos are amazing. My wife had a chicken quesidilla and it looked awesome. Salsa bar is all fantastic and chips are crispy and not greasy. Service is friendly and prompt. Really great healthy alternative to traditional Mexican food. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the tables were not cleaned and I think there is some confusion in whether or not you are to clean your own plates off your table or not. The food here has always been good. We've eaten take out here a tone over the past here with the pandemic. However, this evening, we ordered curbside. The employee brought out our meal but forgot the drinks. We had to ask her and she responded asking, "Oh, what would you like?" Meaning they had completely forgotten even though it was on the receipt taped to. the bag. We proceeded to let her know we ordered to cokes. However, she brought out to regular sized when we had ordered large. Once we got home and began eating, we had taken a sip of our soda and it was completely watered down and disgusting (machine needed to be swapped out for new syrup or something). My chips tasted stale as well. However, my burrito and my husbands bowl was delectable. We may give Rubio's another go but they keep letting us down in one way or another. read more

And so very close to the Mesa Gateway airport (not like, walking distance at all... but once you leave the airport you're pretty much there) and I'll be darned if a big ol' burrito isn't what you want when you get off of the plane. So that's what I had a few weeks back. I've been exploring lots of local businesses in the area, but I gave the old standby another taste-a-roo and it was good. I always go with the Especial burrito. It's packed with lots of stuff, the least of which is guacamole. You can add guac to anything, but this is truly especial. I go with the chicken, but not matter the protein, be sure to get the green sauce from the salsa bar and slather it on. I've had many a good taco from these guys as well--those fish tacos are the real deal. But for me, post flight, it's all about the burrito. read more

Normally, I enjoy the food Rubio's a lot more. This location doesn't seem quite the same as the others. The staff is nice enough, but I don't know if they're trying to cut costs more here or what. My son's quesadilla had about 1/2 the amount of cheese it normally does. So, when you're making something that has only TWO ingredients, it is pretty easy to tell when they're skimping. Maybe it was just an off day. The fish taco that I had tasted really good, but the corn tortilla was not as soft as it usually is - you know how cold or old tortillas fall apart when you try to wrap them? It was like that, but it didn't taste bad, so maybe it had been sitting out a bit and had dried out a little. My tortilla soup came in a bowl that was about 2/3 full, which I thought was a little weird. Later, when I was driving home, I realized what was missing... no tortilla strips. I probably should have said something about the omission, but it had been a really long day and I didn't even think about it until after we left. I'll probably be back since this location is pretty convenient when we are running errands on the weekend, but there is another location on my way home that I prefer. read more
