I guess Rubios is franchised and this one totally SUCKS!!! Our whole order was crap! So much for what we expected from Rubio's.

Ehh what can I say, this is fastfood Mexican at it's Ok-ness! Not best. Great for a cheap easy casual lunch, especially if you're by yourself or with a friend. Plenty of seating inside and the best thing ever = all you can eat salsas. 4 types, to be exact! The nacho's were large. Came with sour cream and not enough guacamole. It could also use a bit more cheese and beans, but whatever, it was large. The blackened ono fish taco's were quite delicious, but I'm not a fan of the super thick corn tortillas. The fish was tender and crusted with cornmeal maybe (?) giving it a nice crunchy outside. The lobster burrito was not too impressive. Too much burrito skin and too little quality stuffing. OHHH WELL. I ate there yesterday with my daughter - there was no seating inside, so we chose a table on the patio. The tables were filthy when we sat down, so we grabbed some napkins to try to clean up. After receiving our food, three people came and sat at a table next to ours. These people had two dogs and came with food from another establishment. Then they sat the dogs on their laps and fed the dogs human food from the table. The dogs paws and mouths were on the table. Of course, this is not sanitary and I was disgusted to have to sit there and watch. So, I went inside to inform the manager. His response, "Were the dogs touching YOUR table? If not, then why do you care?". He said that they would do NOTHING about the situation and offered no solution. So there you go. If this is how you want to enjoy a meal, eating at a filthy table where dogs are allowed to dine like humans, then RUBIOS is your place. read more

Lived in Cali my whole life and this was my first time at Rubio's. The original fish taco was tasty, my cousin loved the red chile shrimp taco, and I thought the habanero mango eno taco was one of the best EVER. The sauce is spicy but is counteracted by the sweetness of the mango. The workers were also friendly and they have a salsa bar. Definitely will go back if I'm in the OC. read more

Here in Orange County, CA, home of Fresh Mex fare, expectations are high. In my mind, Rubio's is positioned above your Taco Bell, and below a sit-down, wait-staffed restaurant. So, expectations run a little higher than normal. I know it's basically fast food, so set your expectations as well. I've been on a search for the best fish tacos this side of the Rio Grande, and I'll just say I've found them...but not here. Rubio's fish tacos were not bad, but the corn tortillas were a little stale. Salsa picante tasted weak, and was missing the caliente Latin heat. The roasted chipotle salsa was just plain off. The tortilla chips were good. Staff was very friendly. Smokers outside kept wafting in, but that may be just this particular location. read more

My daughters and I enjoy the food at Rubio's. This location however is always busy which is understood, it is the Outlets. So you would think they would have more employees taking care of things. The place is so messy, tables dirty and Not arranged. Salsa bar looked awful. The customer service sucks, the girl helping us, Abigail was rushing people, no smile to her, the vibe was just all wrong. I will go to other locations because again I do enjoy the food at Rubio's, but this location never again. read more

I was going to go get some lunch and was planning on getting subway but the line was pretty long so I tried out Rubios. I was greeted by Mark as soon as I walked in. Both He and David were really funny and gave me some good options for my lunch! I got the loaded Nachos and they were really Good! Glad to see there are workers like Mark and David that offer such great customer service! I've gone back a second time and Nathalie was at the register she was incredibly nice to me she showed incredible customer service. I really enjoy coming here to eat I've never experienced any poor service or bad quality in the food. It really makes it worth coming here to eat. I'm on my hunt for the best cheese quesadilla, but I'm starting to think that they're all the same ... The food was served hot, which I love, so the cheese was still stringy. They served an abundant amount of salsa and guacamole. Their salsa bar was pretty decent as well. The reason why I'm giving this location a five-star rather than a lower one was because we encountered a kind lady who gave my friends free tacos because she saw that they did not have any food in front of them! She even brought us soft drinks! It's completely irrelevant and unfair to score a high score for this restaurant, but best dining experience EVER. Love this place and been going here for years! The staff is always nice and friendly even though sometimes they're short staffed. Only time I come here is taco Tuesday and the prices are still fairly priced. I have noticed that it's been going up over the years though. Not a surprised though because prices been going up everywhere. But if you're here Tuesday and hungry, definitely recommend fish tacos and extra white sauce on the side! So funny that the previous reviewers mentioned this as well: it seems at this particular branch, they really can't pronounce people's names! My name is Yen, I got Gwen on my receipt, and then "Sven" when they called it out. I don't mind the Gwen part, but Sven? Really? I'm a sucker for Rubio's fish tacos. So tasty with just the right amount of crunchy cabbage, white sauce, flaky crispy fish, and a generous squeeze of lime. I prefer the black beans to the default pinto beans, although they're both pretty soupy and not very flavorful. Chips over rice. I also throw on a lot of salsa and cilantro/onion. Both the corn and flour tortillas have their advantages. In sum: not that great food, service, nor atmosphere. But damn, are those fish tacos GOOD. read more

Stopped by here for my birthday treat - sign up for their emails online and receive a up to $7 meal at Rubio's (gift certificate is sent to your email). The place was casual and clean. Lots of seating. Quick, easy. They have the calorie count for each item on the menu, which was very helpful. Personally, I don't really like soft tacos in general so I spent my $7 on a burrito instead. I had the Chicken Burrito Especial that came with a side of chips. Been eating here since 2008, I remember my sister brought home the fish tacos on Tuesday for first time and I fell in love. The sauce is perfect with the fish tacos. Although I do have to say that the fish within the tacos have gotten smaller over the years. Four stars because it's expensive for my taste, but on Tuesday, def worth it for 1.50$ (used to be 1$) . And the only thing I would pay full price is the vegetarian burrito which is surprisingly good and the shrimp burrito ! It was quite disappointing; however, when we notified the restaurant, the shift manager, Diego, was very understanding. He cared about our satisfaction and corrected the mistake by going over and beyond what we were expecting. He offered us not only replacement tacos for the partial mistake, but replacement tacos for our whole entire order; next time we came. We just picked up our refunded order, and they taste amazing! Food is alright. It def good flavor but as another review said it's still missing something. I think the main problem is the portion. The portions are so small for the price. I got the shrimp burrito and it def had more shrimp than other Rubio's or at least they placed them evenly on the tortilla that every bite had one. The guacamole though! I asked for guacamole in the burrito you didn't ay extra but that was fine. Seriously I was looking for it! It was literally smeared on the tortilla with the least amount possible. We also ordered guacamole and chips and the ratio of the bowl of chips with the guacamole it was not worth paying $2.49 for that crap! Pretty disappointed about that. Overall staff was nice, place was clean, and food was average. Nothing wow about it for sure. Def fix the ratio and I would come back. read more

First of all, DO NOT EAT HERE. This Rubio's has by far the worst customer service. They completely messed up my order multiple times. Once is alright but three times is pathetic. Additionally, two other customers were waiting for their meals for over 20 minutes. Furthermore, there was no ice at all in their ice machine and it would not stop leaking. I highly recommend not eating at this rubios. It was also a mess. They need to hire a completely new staff. I've never been to a rubios where the workers are so incompetent. read more

Honestly , I've had a fair amount of fish tacos in my day , and the fish taco especial ranks among the top 3 easily.. The consistency of flavor is always there.. The crunch, flakiness and size is perfect.. I have three and it's over.. I'm always a little sad when I'm finished ... There are better fish tacos out there in the world, but much props to rubios for being a chain and still having a fish taco that is spectacular EVERYTIME!! read more
