Excellent service and tasty, healthy fast food that won't weigh you down the rest of the day or break the bank. As always I had the balsamic veggie salad with salmon, my son the chicken quesadilla kids meal, my husband his favorite, the steak gourmet tacos and the Cali bowl and my aunt a shrimp salad and tacos. Everyone loved their food, the Cali bowl can be skipped, it's just a bunch of rice and beans and not worth the money. Their salsa bar is one of the best around. I love to order their shrimp quesadilla which may or may not be on the menu. I specifically ask for it with the guacamole and salsa fresca on the inside of the quesadilla to make it that much more delicious :) This Rubio's location has by far the best salsa verde. Whoever makes it put in extra like I think. It's $9.71, tax included, for the quesadilla and some chips. A little pricey but not too bad for a seafood item. Overall, I really like this place to eat at The Outlets of Orange if you're not looking to spend too much :) They also serve alcohol like beer and sangria if you enjoy that. Rubio's is a good place to satisfy that taco Tuesday craving. I ordered three fish tacos and they where absolutely delicious. I also got a California Bowl, but when this was delivered to my table it was incomplete. It was missing the avocado and the dice tomatoes. Luckily they where able to fix my order. I was disappointed with the size and portion of the shrimp. I'm just going to stick to the fish tacos. The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. read more

Rubio's, I always have a random craving for you! Its a huge plus when you have the smoked blacken salmon in season! Before I get into that what they are known for is their original fish taco which is always on point! I am not too clear on what kind of fish they use, but to my guess would be some kind of cod, but they fry is to have an amazing crunchy texture to it, with cabbage as well. Get some of their salsa, squeeze a lime or lemon whatever is your taste, and enjoy delicious-ness. Be warned it gets pretty wet, so make sure you are eating just above the plate, or else you will get some new decorations on your pants or skirt or bottoms whatever you are sporting! If you get the two tacos plate, I love their beans together with their just right amount salt chips, its a great side! And now to the smoked blacken salmon, its all about the burrito, to help with any waterfall of juices that come drop down from the taco. The burrito comes with this kind of corn salad type of thing, avocado which I of course asked for none because I don't like Avocado! Again just like the taco, get your salsa, pour some on where you will be biting, and close your eyes and enjoy the pallet attack of flavors. The taste of salmon is very settle and enjoyable, complimented with everything else in the burrito, its very satisfying! I usually come here at least twice in a month to order the salmon burrito. Back in the day I remember they had some kind of shrimp burrito, had a crunch to it, I am sure it was breaded and fried a little, but that was delicious too. I think they came out with that before the salmon, but my mind is in a haze trying to think about it because i am all for the salmon burrito son! This location is in the Outlets at Orange. I thought it was just ok. The space where ordering/paying is done is pretty tight, so as it gets crowded on weekends, it's hard to find a proper place to stand when lining up to order/pay. There is indoor and outdoor seating, again, during busy periods you may have a hard time finding seating and some of the outdoor seating is tightly spaced making it hard to squeeze in. If you eat in, they will bring your food to your table, it took a little while but that's probably because they're making it fresh. I had the Fish Tacos and Chicken Nachos. I think taste was ok, nothing amazing. You get a good amount of food so you will be full. Price is just ok. I enjoy the salsa bar where there are many types of salsas and fixings that you can get for yourself. If you're in the mood for Mexican food and it seems Seafood is the specialty, you can check this place out. It's fast-food style, ok tasting, nothing terrible, nothing amazing. read more

This location, YES THIS ONE location of Rubio's is the ONLY ONE I will eat at. The Salads are amazing! And they are served on "real" "bowls". NOT paper takeout type stuff. Emily should be given her own store to run. I come here about once a week and I have NEVER been disappointed. And yeah, I tried 2 others. Those locations need a bit of "training" from Emily and her teammates. Thus I ONLY come to this one. There are very few "healthy" choices for food here at the Outlets. As soon as I walk in the first thing I notice is a girl complaining to the manager about how rude employees were to her. The place was busy so food took longer to come out. Instead of ranch I was given ketchup because they ran out of ranch. I was actually offered ranch when I ordered. The floor was dirty. They were out of napkins and "agua fresca" and never got refilled while I was there. The trash can was full. The restroom was dirty this place can't manage on Saturday nights. read more

I have been coming to this location 2 to 3 times per week for the past 10 years as this location provides a nice lunchtime walk from my work. The quality of this location has gone downhill most notably in the past 6 months. There was a 2 to 3 week point where it was taking up to 30 minutes to get your food though that appears to be resolved now. The location now appears to be disheveled. The soda machine has had a few times where the carbonation is out and when it is working, it's substandard. There are boxes with bottled drinks sitting in front of the refrigerator and the refrigerator is more empty than full. One or two napkin dispensers are empty and it's only 12:15. But the biggest frustration is the line is always long. It's not because there's too many people but there's only one person taking orders. I'd like for the management to take this as constructive criticism and hopefully turn this around. Maybe keeping employees instead of having a revolving door might be a good start. I generally go here with a couple of people from the office and they would agree with this review. In the meantime, you'll find me two doors down at Panda Express or around the corner at Corner Bakery. read more

I was pretty disappointed with the service and food here at Rubios in the outlets of Orange. The unfriendly cashier Anisa was very cold. I ordered their Halibut special bowl. Once I got my food it was literally tiny scraps of halibut slapped in a bowl. I brought it back to Anisa and asked if this was the appropriate portion. She said it's supposed to be two fillets, this was not even half a fillet of SCRAPS. Halibut is one of the most expensive fishes on the menu and the portion was insulting. She took my bowl back (with a little attitude) and when she brought me back a new one, she had the nerve to say "yeah the fish is small today" as she walked away. Like wth?? Ok so if the "fish is small" today then shouldn't that mean the price should be small too? Used to love this place but I won't be back to this spot. Disappointed. read more

I appreciated the healthy options (grilled fish tacos, which were tasty with roasted corn), and really appreciated their attention to the environment--plates and cutlery are not disposable, and you can help yourself from the salsa bar without using a plastic container, and they make recycling bottles easy as you bus your plates. I was craving some fish tacos and decided on Rubio's since I heard about how good they were from other friends. I was disappointed though. The fish they served was so little, the tortilla overpowered it and tortilla was even cold. Not a good taco. This is one of the very few places at the Block of Orange that I go for dinner before heading to the movies. I like the quality of their food and the price is usually ok (for the food it is). The service is courteous and prompt. The salsa bar is stocked pretty well and all the plasticware and napkins are located by the fountain soda machines. I like their setup and decor. Outside seating is usually my choice. They are one of the very few food establishments in that section of the Block that do not annoy bypassers with solicitations to try their samples. You can come here, order two flavorful, wonderful little street tacos filled with meat, cilantro, guacamole and diced onions and consume only 200 tiny little calories for BOTH of them! I love this place! Whenever I go to lunch at The Block of Orange and walk by all the little boutiques of cute clubbing clothes I immediately talk myself down from the burger or pizza into something that will fit into a size 4. These tacos do the trick. They really pack a punch and allow you to walk away happy, satisfied and ready to shop! Guys.. I know this is a girly point-of-view and that these tacos don't live up to the more-for-your-money Old Country Buffett mentality but hey- they are tasty beautiful little things that allow you to save room for the beer and pizza later right?! Literally the most illiterate and rude cashier I have ever encountered. She wasn't wearing a name tag (of course) and made no effort to greet me or care to repeat my order back to me. 15 minutes had went and I had asked about my order. No answer. 10 more minutes went by and I had to ask her if the order was even in the system. 10 minutes later it finally comes out and of course it wasn't correct. Located inside the Outlets of Orange, so there can be a lot of traffic during lunch rush hours. This location is nice and tidy with outdoor seating which I usually opt for. My family and I have been to this Rubio's on several occasions because we love the Ancho Citrus shrimp burrito combo and the fresh salsa bar. However, on our last visit, we have never received such horrible customer service from the workers there. First off, after we placed our order, the male worker had to ask another female worker in front of us if the ingredients for the ancho citrus shrimp burrito were even available. This was unprofessional as anything advertised should be available upon ordering and it was asked after we had already paid for our order. Next, my husband and I were enjoying our meal when our newborn baby needed to be fed and changed. We checked the bathrooms inside of Rubio's and it was not only extremely filthy, but there was no available changing table inside. As well, the weather outside was extremely cold outside. Like any caring mother would, I placed an entire covered portable changing pad to change my child when the same female worker who was asked about our order rudely came and told us that this wasn't allowed and to use the bathrooms because it disturbed the other customers and this was a policy. If this is a policy, then have signs up that it's a policy and offer an alternative like a changing table inside the bathrooms. Try cleaning your restrooms because no one would use such a disgusting restroom. There was barely one other customer at that time and as much as I wanted to yell at this rude worker for their horrible customer service behavior, my husband and I decided that we will never go to Rubio's again and spread word on how they treat families. If this is how employees treat their customers, then it says a lot about Rubio's as a poor business. What I really wanted to tell that female employee is to put herself in the shoes of a mother of a newborn and see if she herself would take her child into a filthy bathroom and change them on the floor. We regret our purchase at this Rubio's and hope that those two employees get fired because if they continue, I can't see any customers returning. read more

1 star is generous enough, waited 20 minutes for our food and it's not busy - there are plenty of seats inside! And our food was served at room temperature. I went up the counter to complain and it's been 15 minutes since and still no replacement. My husband went up to them for follow up and still nothing. Receipt showed we paid at 1:47 and it's 2:20. Ok, if not, then you really should just head up the 5 because we know how to batter some fish and put them in a tortilla. Baja-style is no excuse to make poor tacos. Don't get me started on their "street taco" There's nothing remotely street about that taco. You have taco trucks down there, you can and do have the option to try real street taco. This sort of place is where you go when you're a soccer mom and don't want to risk little juniors stomach in giving him some mexican food. The service here was pretty damn slow for my order as well. Rubio's is a regular lunch spot during the week. Like all Rubio's, the food is good and made to order. But the way this place is run leaves a lot to be desired. We come here a lot right during the lunch rush. It's not unusual to find a long line that's right at or even far past the door. So, why does Rubio's insist on having only one cashier on hand for the lunch rush?? Week after week, there's usually only a single cashier dealing with a crush of customers (occasionally there will be a second cashier, like last week). Fortunately, they don't take the overwork out on the customers and are very friendly and accurate. Once you get through the long line to place your order with the lone cashier, you have to wait forever for your food. It's ridiculous, really. A lot of people work nearby, and they can't afford 15 minutes in line and another 10 minutes of waiting for food, along with another 15 to properly chew and enjoy it. Fresh food takes time to prepare, and I'm fine waiting a little extra for that, but making people stand in a long line to order is ridiculous. There are three registers, and I have seen all three staffed maybe twice. That said, the staff is very friendly and it's pretty clear there just aren't enough to go around. The restaurant is also really clean and the condiments area is always put together. Eating here is great, once you get the food! read more

The fish tacos here are about average, compared to other Rubio's anyway. I am fond of the flour tortillas, which has an interesting chewiness to them. I don' t like cabbage, but everyone puts cabbage in a fish taco. My major objection about this place is the layout. Unless you're lucky enough to get a table around the perimeter, be prepared to be buddies with the tables to either side of you. There's like less than foot between each table. Talk about claustrophobia. Plus, at 1:00pm, the lunch rush is still going on and it's so bad that people keep losing their tables and their cups. Examples: 1) The table next to us had a cup and a receipt. It looked abandoned and it was empty by the time we plopped down next to it. The employee asked if we knew if someone was there. I told her I didn't think so. Oops. The owner of the drink cup came back with her order and the employee had to get her another cup. 2) A mom and her three kids took over a two tables and I guess when a guy came back to that table, she had "cleaned" it up and tossed away that guy's cup. Oops again. I don't think i would come back to this particular Rubio's again because I don't want to guard my cup during salsa runs and I don't want to be best friends with random diners. read more

I come here pretty often. I work here at the outlets and have minimal choices for a healthy meal. When I do come I usually get the California bowl, which gives a few slivers of steak with the green sauce, even though several times they have given red sauce. It's kind of a crap shoot if I get what I actually ordered. They have raspberry fuze tea on tap which is usually my choice of beverage. Salsa bar is good and I usually mix cilantro and onions with green salsa which is the best tasting in my opinion. With that being said, the Manager Sarah is a sweetheart and is always nice when I come in. Nothing other than good customer service. However the manager Froilin (spelling?) has never given good customer service. In fact the only reason I felt compelled to write this was because of my interaction with him today. When I finally got up to order, it was busy, he started to take my order and then just turns around and starts doing another task, before I was done ordering! He finishes what he obviously felt was more important than taking my order, then turns around annoyed like I was bothering him. Doesn't say a word, doesn't hand me the cup I ordered, and acted like I, the customer, was a burden to him. Pretty freakin ridiculous. So in closing, see Sarah if you have to order.
