Managed to finally make it happen! Surprisingly with no reservation, and a group of 7...we were able to make it happen. Was it a 2 hour wait? Yes, but we were able to leave our number with them and go about our way. Final wait time was about an hour and a half. It was a late/odd time for my family so some of us did go into it with food in our stomachs but we made it work, and it was totally worth it. I can't say that it's the most friendliest for large groups but we had a group of 7 (one child) and we sat fairly comfortable. The inside has such a lively ambience it's quite fun if you feed into it. As for the food. This visit we didn't get to try as much as I would've loved to but we did manage to get their tie dye pizza, as well as the Bianca and Honey pie. First and foremost....if you love a thin...crispy bottomed pizza...you're in good hands here. Their tomato red sauce/vodka sauce is incredible as well. Was something the table talked about a lot. And the white Bianca..this ones for the garlic and ricotta lovers. If thats you, you'll be sure to love. We also went with the calamari as a starter which was also very good. Talk about getting an authentic NYC experience. This was a tough reservation to get. I snagged an 8:15 reservation as that was the only one available despite logging on right when it opened. Like I said, tough reservation. We were seated about 8:25-8:30 which I get but was a little annoying. This place is packed full of tables when there really isn't room for them. The tables are tiny. We were squeezed up against two walls. I'm not sure this would have worked for some people. Just a heads up on that. Also, only one bathroom which had a line 90% of the time we were there so plan accordingly. We started with the arancini. It's hard to not make a good one. This was solid. Nice fry and good amount of filling made for a great start. We (4 of us) ordered 2 large pizzas. They are huge. They were hanging over the table which was ridiculous but oh well. The first was half of the meatball/pepperoni one and half sausage. The other was half arugula salad one and half tye die. We did ask for the tye die to have pepperonis which the waiter acknowledged but shocking it did not have pepperoni. That was sarcastic because he was not writing down the order. Not a deal breaker but still not good. These pizzas are thin. It's also different than the slices you're getting around the city. It's just a different crust/cook. Not a bad thing. Just worth pointing out. My favorite was the famous tye die pizza. It just works. Shockingly well. I really enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. This one is not hype; it's real. My next favorite would be the sausage. Healthy portion of flavorful sausage made this a very good slice. And my least favorite, but one I still very much enjoyed, is the pepperoni meatball. Went for a very early dinner and managed to get a table for four without a reservation. By the time we left, the wait was pushing two hours, which felt a little ambitious for what is ultimately a pizza restaurant. The tie dye pizza lived up to the hype for me, and the honey pie was just as good. We also had the cavatelli with broccoli rabe, a solid tiramisu, and a few rounds of Calabrian chili martinis that I'd happily order again. What a special place and amazing food! I did a lot of research trying to find the perfect place for penne alla vodka for my son during our trip to NYC. Rubirosa hit the spot. Not only did it take reservations but the server also was so attentive and awesome despite it being very busy. We got the rubirosa salad, vodka pie (small is still very big!), and vodka pasta. Was super looking forward to this spot but left a bit disappointed. We were able to get a walk-in shared table (bless) and were sat in the middle room by the kitchen. It was super loud and hectic, but a table nonetheless. Our server seemed like he hated his job and had a bit of an attitude at us not knowing what we wanted immediately, especially when I explained my allergies and confirmed what I could safely eat. Like I get it's more energy for you to deal with but trust me, I wish I didn't have them either. My friend who is also GF DF got the hot honey pie pizza and graciously shared some--it was delicious! Definitely go that route instead. The drinks were also good, I got the Daisy cocktail and it was delicious. My friend ordered a different one by accident and didn't like it, and the server did offer her the right one free of charge. He also forgot my other friend's wine and when she asked, he was super apologetic and brought it on him. So he was kind in those respects, maybe just tired at the end of a long shift? I came here for my 30th birthday dinner with my husband and my sister. We got sat in the back room near the ovens. That room is a health hazard, and they should not be able to sit guests there. It was extremely hot. It had to be at least 85 degrees, probably hotter. Everyone who was sat in that room was drenched in sweat - I, for example, had sweat droplets dripping down my back the entire dinner. When they brought new customers to sit back there, several asked to be relocated. After we got our food, we asked for the check and wanted to leave immediately. It's a shame because we would've ordered more food and drinks. On our way out, we spoke to the manager who said it was always like that. Disgusting. On to the review: I'm not being dramatic when I say I haven't had a mozzarella stick in years, especially one with a cheese pull! Rubirosa reservations are tough to come for prime dinner time, so best bet is a walk-in during lunch time or last seating. When I came by on a Monday at 2pm, there was no wait. Otherwise, I've had friends wait an hour or two for a table. We started off with an order of Meatballs ($23), which comes with three tennis ball-sized meat. It's pricey, but these meatballs were very tender and juicy. The focaccia bread was perfect to dip all the sauce with too. Then we got the large Tie Dye Pizza ($41). We originally thought to go small, but upgraded to large so we could have leftovers. When the pizza came out, the server swirled the pesto sauce on top, which was fun. It's pretty light on the pesto, which I like since I'm not the biggest pesto fan. This pizza is their signature and such a fun incorporation of marinara, vodka, and pesto sauce. The pizza itself is super thin and crispy, which held up very well right out of the oven. I also liked how they have their own homemade chili oil sauce --never seen that at a pizza spot before! We ended up only eating half before taking it to-go, which were delicious leftovers too. Overall, Rubirosa is a delicious spot for NY pizza. I have been to Rubirosa once many years ago and remember really enjoying it. I went again a few weeks ago and am happy to report that it's still a great place for pizza in the city. The tie dye pizza is worth all of the hype. It features a super thin crust and has vodka sauce and tomato sauce topped with fresh mozzarella and the signature pesto swirl. It really does taste as good as it looks. And the best part is that it that does not make you feel gross even after eating 3 slices. I also got to try the octopus appetizer which was good but way too overpriced. I did enjoy the Rubirosa salad which was a nice counterpoint to the heavier dishes. Service is fine. And shoo'ed us away. At this point, my daughter was so excited to go to Rubirosa for pizza, she started crying. We were all so upset. For another reservation, I had to stand in line again. After 15 minutes of waiting, I walked up to the manager, my daughter still crying, kindly asked for a reservation for the next day. It took every ounce of me not to cuss him out. This was ABSURD. SO we got a lunch reservation for the next day. But here's the kicker!!!! They use a text messaging system to let you know of your reservation. And guess what? The next day, I got a text for my 5:30pm reservation for yesterday!!!! What The FFFFFFFF. I WAS BEYOND PISSED. PLEASE SEE text message PHOTO as evidence. A group of 10 of us went to Rubirosa for a work function. We arrived and were seated at an excellent table in the rear part of the restaurant. The interior was well laid out with a variety of decorations. It is a great atmosphere and walking by the other patrons and looking and smelling all the food ensured that this would be a great experience. We had a few appetizers including some fantastic meatballs in a red sauce. They were excellent. The sauce was very flavorful. We also had some beautiful salad, and fried squid in a red sauce. Everything was very well prepared. We then moved onto the pizza. They are large pizzas! We got two. The tie dye and the vodka. The crust was excellent, The sauce and cheese were excellent. Pizza is AMAZING. Really, you could stop reading what I wrote, right there. I will fully admit that Rubirosa was my "backup" option - I had intended to walk into Torrisi around 9PM and was quickly told that would not happen and I likely wouldn't be eating until 10PM. I kept watching others get their pizza and I got a bit anxious, but finally, my pizza arrived! They did forget the pesto sauce which I inquired about but they quickly fixed that. Then it was time to dig in. And man, this pizza was GOOD. Probably one of the best pizzas I've had. It was just so perfect. The tomato sauce was rich and deep. The crust was crispy. My only complaint is that some of my toppings/pizza would fall off when I grabbed it, but that's likely because it came out piping out and I just wasn't ready to wait longer before digging into it. Let me just say, man. I don't usually eat much, but I got a small pizza for myself that feeds 1-2 people and I left only 2 pieces of pizza lol. The pizza is amazing and well worth a trip! read more

Now thisssssss is an establishment. Every bite, from the mozzy sticks, clams (not pictured) to the decadent vodka pie was mouth magic. If you close your eyes and let your mind wonder you can hear the birds chirping, sun-shining, and we're back in 2006 again. Splendid service and a loud joyous ambiance to boot. This has to be the best spot in NYC and no wonder it's been around for so long. The food is absolutely delicious, the service in point and the vibes is great! I must day the best chicken parm in Vodka sauce that I ever tasted and I truly mean it. We'll make it a point to come back to celebrate our birthdays and family get togethers. Rubirosa is a lively restaurant that is perfectly trendy but also has a nice balance of being upscale. The pasta with vodka sauce was delicious and was done well. The pizza was cracker thin and crunchy at the crust. You should know this ahead of time because if you're expecting a thicker crust you'll be disappointed as that's not the style here. However, I did not like the pesto in the trio pizza as it just wasn't that good. The vodka was delicious and so was the red sauce in the pizza. read more

Love love love Rubirosa - might be my favorite pizza in NYC! I love their large size pizzas, and that they offer the option to have half / half of different toppings so everyone can share more slices of pizza. I love their vodka pasta, supreme, and the tie dye pesto. Every flavor we've tried has been delicious, and I love how crispy and thin the crust is. I've had this on delivery a few times too and it's always been great even after being delivered and not too oily. Their restaurant is also very cozy but can get quite crowded so I would recommend walking in early or be prepared to walk around and wait for a table! We also tried some of their salads which were also delicious (especially the beet salad!) read more
